In order to get the Loupe you have to kill the Duskwatch Orbitist's with the little eye over their head that can unmask you.

took me like 40 kills of Duskwatch Orbitist's... AND it droped from one of them in a tower, were u have to use the grip thingy, at Evermoon Commons, right by the coast

Just keep killing Duskwatch Orbitist's took me about 20. I noticed some don't show up in the tooltip as having the item. Not sure if this has an effect on them dropping it or not.

Just so people are aware these can drop from the Duskwatch Shrouds too. I found a route with an easily avoidable elite around 51.6 85.0

It seems to only drop from female Duskwatch Orbitist's. Also the Nightborne Jewelry Case is located at the market at the center of the area.

This quest is awful. Keep an eye out for Inconspicuous Baskets and jump in if you pull too many mobs. You instantly drop threat and can cast Masquerade again before jumping out. Good luck!

Drops from Duskwatch Shroud, but for some reason not all of them, got mine from one patting around 50.87, 87.04. Pay attention to when you hover over it if it has the quest text.

Don't waste your time trying to kill Duskwatch Orbitists. Only the female Duskwatch Orbitists drop the Nightborne Loupe. If there aren't any females around, you have to kill the males in order to spawn them. Even then, the Orbitists are always surrounded by more mobs.

I found killing Duskwatch Shrouds better. My Nightborne Loupe dropped from the first kill.

Edit: Blizzard did hotfix the quest, so you should now be able to kill male Duskwatch Orbitists for the Nightborne Loupe.

After killing for 1 hour it finally dropped off a Female Duskwatch Orbitists

These will drop from shrouds, and I do think it's better than fighting all the mobs where the Orbitist's are, but it took me about 20 shroud kills, 3/5 of which were female. It looks like the male Shrouds do not drop the Loupe either. All in all it took about 30 minutes of waiting for re spawns.

Finally! After the worst hour and a half in game I was able to obtain a Nightborne Loupe. The drop rate is really terrible.

My tactic was to try and pull at least One Orbitist into a room with no mobs that will be hostile and repeat. I usually pulled up to one or two extra mobs but it was an easy way of getting the job done. Not really worth the time and effort, this quest really shaved some time from my life due to stress.

I found almost all the items sitting on the merchant tables in the bazaar. Unfortunately, no Nightborne Loupe.

I went back down there and only killed orbists or shroud mobs, that only had the tooltip when you hover over them. I got my item in 3 kills. Verses earlier being stubborn and trying to figure it out myself wasting hours...happy hunting!

I would advise you to move forward in the Suramar quest line ( Masquerade/masquerade ) , since it gives you access to a mask, allowing you to move in the city without any interference from the mobs (except the guards, but you can easily avoid them).

Any idea how to actually pick up this quest? I've finished every other jewelecrafting quest, am level 110, and this doesn't pop up for me anywhere. None of the recipes show up on Jabrul either.

Dropped for me from a Duskwatch Orbitist standing in a building located at:

/way 51.10, 80.50

This was after killing over a dozen Orbitists.

For the loupe, I skirted between the outside of the city, and Felsoul hold until I got to the water on the SE side of Suramar.

Once in the water, you can find several of the Orbitists, but after 15 kills, I had become frustrated. Another reader had posted that he used a grappling hook. I did find one, from these coordinates (in water) 51.55, 77.95. You can grapple to that hook from these coordinates. You may not have to however, as an orbitists was also at that point and dropped for me.

For the other two items, there is little to be done other than going inside the area. But, that's the easy part

This quest will appear near the Jewelcrafting trainers in Dalaran after reaching 600/800 skill.

ok so now I've completed the quest where do I urn it in, The gold? appears outside the city but not in the underbelly. I returned to the original quest giver which had the gold?, clicked to turn in but nothing. help!

Step by step guide:

1. Loot Custom Jewelry Order at /way 50.1, 75.9. Yellow blip appears on minimap when you get close.
2. Loot Nightborne Jewelry Case in the market stalls at /way 50.0, 77.1. Yellow blips appear on minimap when you get close.
3. To get Nightborne Loupe, kill Duskwatch Shroud at around /way 50.8, 84.3. Harder to get to, but they seem to have much higher drop rates. Alternative (and lower) drop source is Duskwatch Orbitist at /way 48.5, 72.3 and /way 50, 76.1. Beware, both types of mob can see through stealth and masquerade.
(Don't worry about the comments saying only female Orbitists drop it. It was hotfixed and both genders drop it now.)

4. Turn the quest in to Sminx Glasseye at the jeweller's in Dalaran /way 39.6, 35.0.

Notes:

*Hide in Inconspicuous Basket like the one at /way 49.3,72.9 when things get too hot for you. You drop aggro and become invisible to them as long as you sit in it.

*Highly recommended: If you can't stealth, complete Suramar quest Masquerade to get the disguise Masquerade for greater ease of movement through the city. Enemies become neutral instead of hostile, except for the few that can see through your disguise.

You hand in the quest to Sminx Glasseye inside the Dalaran jeweller's shop (somehow the quest marker showed up on the northern edge of Dalaran for me).

ok so i got every quest done , leveled my jewelcrafting to 780 but every recipe i have turned grey, how am i suppose to get to level 800 now .-.

If you're having trouble with this quest, keep in mind that the only reward, Design: Class Necklace, can simply be purchased off Jabrul. I believe that will also stop this quest from being offered (at least it did for me).

Appreciate the comments. Duskwatch Shrouds are by far the best drop rate. There’s an isolated one at the southwest tip of what looks like a stone horseshoe on the Suramar City map. You’ll avoid a lot of trash mobs if you approach this location from the water. Its water entry point coordinates are (51.1, 87.2).

There are only about 5 of the mobs that can drop the quest item in the area marked on the map and the item seems to have quite a low drop chance. I killed all the mobs 3 or 4 times (so 15-20 kill) before I got the quest item.... Lots of waiting around for respawns. Terrible quest design.

Killed every Duskwatch Orbitist in the quest area marked on minimap (along with pulling half the population of Evermoon Commons in the process) - after 20 minutes, not a single loupe dropped. Came here to read the comments and realized that I should have been killing the Duskwatch Shrouds. Sure enough, the 2nd one I killed dropped the item.

There are three Orbitists located on the stairs starting at 46.7 77.0 in Evermoon Commons, with only a few other mobs nearby.

A GM just informed me that you must have done the following quests after reaching level 110 to be eligible for this one:
1. Socket to Me
2. Halls of Valor: Jewel of the Heavens
3. Maw of Souls: Spiriting Away
4. Black Rook Hold: The Raven's Wisdom

As of Dragonflight, you need to have 50 skills points in Legion Jewelcrafting before she will offer this quest.
