Wrathion asks you to meet him on the Isle of Thunder by the thunder forge after you speak to him in the veiled stair. You speak to him in his whelpling form to start the solo scenario.

In the Scenario you have to defend Wrathion while he charges up the thunder forge, you have some shado-pan guys helping you out. There are a few waves and the last wave has a 10m+ hp mogu.

During this there will be blue lightning balls appearing at certain areas and it is marked with an arrow, you go pick it up and you get a buff that increases your damage and healing.

Once you do this part you get to enter the forge itself where Wrathion summons a celestial blacksmith to start charging the anvils to temper the lance. You have to defend the blacksmith from sha monsters during this and you have a celestial defender helping you out. There are multiple anvils and once each one is charged you can click them to deal aoe damage. There are also green pillars of light that appear which you can stand in to heal.

After all the anvils are charged, Wrathion does a massive aoe and thinks it is over but instead summons a sha boss with 30m+ hp.

The celestial defender is supposed to be the tank while you do damage. The boss has a couple of abilities.

-Main one is Insanity which does massive aoe damage and you HAVE to interrupt it or you die. If you click on one of the charged anvils (they all get recharged if you used them in the first phase) it interrupts the ability so make sure you save them.
-Does a meteor shower which will appear as circles on the ground and will follow you around, just dont get hit.
-Banishes the defender for a short amount of time and you gain aggro, he doesn't hit too hard but if you dont want to risk it just kite.

When the sha boss gets low the lance becomes clickable. Click it and use your special action button to kill the boss and the scenario is done and you receive the lightning lance for the next quest. Good luck!

Here is a quick guide to the scenario including a video that shows you what to expect:

First stages are easy and not worth mentioning. The last stage is hectic.

The first part of the last stage:

All you have to do is defend the Blacksmith. Best tactic is to get instant aggro on all the little Shas and nuke the big one. If you get overwhelmed, click on an anvil that is overcharged. You can kite em, stun em.... it's not hard.

Second part is where it becomes tricky.

You still have the anvils that help you, but you can use each only ONCE. What I found out: only use them on when the big Sha casts "Insanity". It's a very long spell that you can't interrupt and it will wipe you if you let it cast it.

With you is the Celestial Defender that keeps hacking away at the Sha. He gets banished from time to time. That's your cue to run away. Just kite the big Sha until the Defender gets out of banish again (doesn't take too long).

There's also green beams, standing in them will heal you and they will also heal the Defender. I had a bit of a problem with those beams, because whenever I stood in them, they despawned (maybe I was just unlucky).

What can and will probably happen is that the defender becomes critically injured. Don't wipe it, because you think you can't finish it alone (it's what I did the first tries). The defender will heal up again and start fighting. Just continue to kite the Sha and use the anvil in case it casts Insanity.

It also does some sort of "Sha Rain". Stop casting and immediately start to move. Don't stop to try and cast, keep on running. You can use ofc some instant casts, but don't stop moving. It will show you with light patches on the ground where the "drop" will land. Now a warning: those things also do splash damage. So make sure to not stand directly next to one.

Other than that: the Sha also casts a Shadow Crash that does splash damage.

It will be a big help (if you can't heal yourself) to bring bandages and pots with you, because one of those things will hit you and they hurt quite a bit.

You will not be able to see Wrathion when meeting him outside The Thunder Forge in the Isle of Thunder if you have not completed the solo scenario quests offered in the Isle of Thunder from your respective Horde and Alliance bases there.
If it does not show Unlock the Thunder Forge as completed go to your factions base on Isle of Thunder and search for the non-daily quests that start the solo scenario. This quest requires, to my memory, the first two solo instances to be completed. Later quests in this same chain to unlock your legendary meta will require you to complete all of the solo scenario quests on the island.
I thought this was a bug at first because I couldn't see Wrathion, turns out you just have to complete the solo scenarios first.

DPS is my off spec (healing ms) so I had some issues on the final boss fight but after about 6 tries I got it.

Towards the end (~around 9mil hp) the lance becomes available to kill the sha, but it was also when I had 1 anvil left to use so I am not sure if it becomes available at a specific point (anvil or boss health).

If your melee, you can slowly walk a circle around the boss when he does the storm (just watch the circles on the ground and don't get hit). Also stand in the green areas whenever they spawn.

Personally I had this quest on my druid, who has done pretty much nothing but heal since Wrath, and I eventually gave in and re-spec'd to moonkin for this fight after failing on several attempts in my guardian spec/gear, which I only use for soloing. I'm terrible at balance, but I just wasn't going to get enough DPS any other way. It does seem to be a straight-up DPS race, as there were a few times when the Sha was low, but not low enough and I ran out of anvils.

But if you're having the problem I was where I was running really close on the DPS required to kill the Sha Amalgamation, all you have to do is hold out long enough for the spear to spawn. I ended up dying right after the spear showed up, and couldn't click on it in time, but the spear did not despawn. When I resurrected and the encounter restarted, the spear was still there, so all I had to do is click on it and it one-shotted the Sha.

For any healers trying to do this, you don't need to respec for it. In fact, I'd argue it's even easier to do as a healer than as a dps. How? Well, in the first phase, the thunder forge will throw out orbs that will give you the Overcharged buff, which mimics any healing you do as damage to the nearest target. The mechanics here make sure the Shado-pan assisting you will almost always have spare health to heal, so just let them take aggro, stand near a mob, and heal them.

In the second and third phases, the Celestial Defender has a buff on him that increases his damage in proportion to his remaining health. At 100% health, he gets a 300% damage buff (compared to what he does at zero health). As long as you keep him healed up, you'll have enough damage being done to get through. He isn't perfect at keeping aggro off of the Celestial Blacksmith, though, so you'll have to heal it as well. In the second phase, I recommend you don't use the anvils - they immediately reduce the Defender to half health (where he does half as much damage as he does at full health). Watch for the Lethargy debuff on the Defender, which decreases its damage, and dispel it whenever you see it up.

In the third phase, just keep the Defender healed up, kite the Sha during banish, and dispel any debuffs that are put on the Defender. One decreases its haste by 50%, and the other stuns it. Both are bad, but it shouldn't be hard to keep them dispelled. Overall, this phase tends to be easier than the second phase, though, as it's a lot less hectic. Just avoid the Sha's attacks and be ready to use an anvil during each casting of Insanity.

Hi, im trying to do the quest, but i cant find the npc to start the scenario. I think that i'm on the right place in the upstairs, just see the minimap i see the dialog globe but the npc is missing . If anyone knows something just tell me plx! :(

Good luck with phase 5. Impossible as a well geared fury warrior. Probably start playing again when they nerf it a bit. Frustrating spending weeks gathering the quest materials and then constantly dying .

Also had problems as Prot warrior, those little ankle biter sha go right for the Blacksmith and no amount of AoE will pull them off. By the time you can hit each one, they've done too much damage. Furthest I got was the 5th anvil, didn't matter whether I used them or not. I realize this has to be a challenge and all, but do you suppose Blizz even tests these scenarios, or just throws them together? I bought a new Meta gem recently anyway, so I'm going to wait a few weeks before I try again.

The first "anvil" phase is easy if you stick close to the blacksmith, AoE to attract the aggro of all the shas, and click the anvils when charged.

The 31,000,000 HP Amalgamation is a real problem for the following reasons:

1. The game notifies you of boss abilities via some sort of raid warning, but it doesn't do a very good job. In fact, during some attempts after wipes, it stopped giving me any notice AT ALL. I had to glare at the target portrait to see what spells were being cast.

2. The boss relentlessly pours out ability after ability after ability. This is a very, very hectic fight. Lag (i.e. on an Oceanic server like me) means you'll be hit by stuff you already dodged... A LOT.

All of the boss' special abilities require you to move or take huge damage. All of them.

In the end, I found that simply running away from everything the boss did was the answer. I mean, literally just run in a circle around the room, having a shot at the boss or adds whenever possible.

Even though the Celestial tank pretends to die, if you can avoid the boss for 10-15 seconds, the Defender always makes a miraculous comeback and taunts the Amalgamation away.

You can actually stand on the opposite side of the room and bandage or heal yourself in the 5-10 seconds of quiet you'll get from being nowhere near the boss.

Note that you can use ANY anvil to interrupt the Insanity pulse, not just the one close to him.

Oh, and watch out for Meteor Shower being cast INSIDE the green healing pillar. Nothing will piss you off more than desperately jumping into the much needed healing only to be wiped out by a meteor strike.

I completed this yesterday as a ilvl 507 fury warrior, although I died SEVERAL times. In phase 2, focused entirely on the larger sha, taunting them when possible. I also healed the protector a few times with bandages. For phase 3, I used the anvils only for Insanity, and ran around the room when the meteors were falling. This was good to use the outer anvils for insanity, and kept me away from the Sha when the protector went away.

The key point for those that need armor repairs. If you stand right by the door (by the spirit) you can mount, so use your repair mounts. I've read in other threads where others had to restart the scenario just to do repairs. Hopefully this helps.

I'm trying to do this as Disc Priest, and need some tips. I noticed that while I'm trying to keep the defenders health topped up during the last phase, something is knocking his health back to 50%. What is doing that?

Difficulty I can deal with, but the final boss is frustrating, almost by design.

1. Healing circles don't spawn very frequently, and when they do, they have a chance to spawn somewhere you can't reach like, hilariously, on top of the forge.

2. When you die and respawn, the boss respawns in combat with the defender (at full health, of course) which means you've got 15 seconds before he casts shadow crash at you and pulls you into combat, so good luck swapping out glyphs or talents to try a new strategy without it being a rushed, frantic decision.

3. Speaking of, there's no ground effect for the shadow crashes, so you either need to see them coming (which is difficult due to the amount of crap in the room) or watch the cast bar (which, for me, meant I was missing raid warnings.)

4. Also the room is so cluttered with crap, my camera kept getting stuck behind things.

5. When the celestial defender "dies" and the sha chases you down, he moves just slightly faster than you can get away from him and he can't be slowed or rooted so, if you're a mage like me and get chased with blink on CD, you're pretty much hosed.

6. and don't get me started on how crappy this is on a direct damage, non-DoT class. It's like everything wrong with this tier's raiding is condensed down to this fight.

I'm sick of it.

I am a well geared 507 arms warrior and I am getting my butt handed to me. I cannot keep up with the baby sha's - WW does some decent damage and my dragon's roar is good for the bigger ones but I am getting it reset every single stinking time.

I do understand this is supposed to be difficult but when every single one of my well geared guildies are dying multiple times, that says something about how BS this last phase is. I came out to read what other people were saying, I'm going give it one more go before I say screw it and wait for the nerf. >.<

I am done and I gave it several tries. I managed to keep the baby sha's off in the 2nd phase and bandage the protector and the black smith so good call on that. The last phase, the big sha is just retarded damage that I couldn't heal through. The healing circles do pop but it's kinda hard to stand in there when you're running for your life.

Oh and good call about be being about to mount and repair closer to the door.

In a nutshell this is the best advice for part one for all classes. I found that if I didn't stack on blacksmith something would cause the scenario to restart. Click anvil as soon as it is available.
Phase 2 is a pig, lots of furniture to get in the way. Expect to die a few times while getting the hang of it. When you resurrect you are straight back into the fight and his health is back to 100%. Your cool-downs are not reset though! Healing circles are always next to boss which can be a pain for ranged.
Give yourself some time to do this fight, it will take longer than 5 minutes!

This fight is bull!@#$. I could see being able to do it as an ilevel 545 rogue, but as a 508, I haven't got a prayer. I guess I'll come back to do it when I have surpassed the final reward for the quest line. Thanks for nothing, Bliz.

As a holy priest, I wiped to this a few times while trying to use chakra: chastise. I was only able to down it when I finally tried chakra: serenity and healed the celestial defender, as well as dispelling him whenever he had a debuff. I found it useful to use power infusion right after hitting one of the anvils, as the anvil will knock the defender down to 1200k, and using PI will help get him back up very quickly. In essence, healers, don't bother trying to dps - it's not going to work, unfortunately. Just focus on keeping the defender as topped as possible and dispelling.

i read all the post seems like this is one hard quest i tried it on my 510ilvl dk and cant get past the 1st phase so i just give up and i know im just a casual gamer so i guess this questline was made for th HARDCORE gamers guess i need to find another game to play they nerf everything else i dont see them making this one easy

Just completed this on my paladin. For those healers out there who don't have a (good) offspec...

If the Shado-Pan helpers die while you are clearing the mobs in the courtyard, start the instance over. You can heal them and they will do damage proportionate to their health.
Once in the forge, during the defender/Blacksmith phase both can be healed. Keep the BS alive and the defender topped up, as he will do more damage. Dispelling will help
As the Blacksmith empowers the anvils blow them, they will do more damage then you will ever do and they all reset before the next phase
During the Sha phase, Healing the guardian will buff his damage, but the priority is to keep yourself alive. The guardian will dip to 1 health but he won't die. Try to stand by the next forge and then gear it as the Sha is casting his big move. He doesn't need to be close to it to be interrupted.
Kill the little add, helps move things along
Click the lance as soon as it is up. It is big and glowy and spawns on the door side of the room. Try to rotate around the room so that you end up back at the door side for the last anvil.

My general advice for healers is try to talent/glyph yourself to do as much damage as possible. If you aren't comfortable with that just heal the NPCs and yourself as much as possible. If you are at this point in the quest you have enough gear to keep yourself up, but do watch out for spike damage. Interrupt the Sha with the anvils or you will die within 3-4 pulses. Give yourself some times probably 30-60 mins. It takes some trial and error to get it down and leaving the scenario starts you at the beginning of it when you start it again.

it as close to a shockadin as you can get these days. Can put out some good damage and definately keep yourself up.

Done a lot of questing as a healer. This one was definitely one of the worst.

Hardest fight so far did it on my 516 rogue only way to do it is to run away a lot and let the defender kill,it. Good luck

Ok I get it. In the beginning it appeared as if they finally made a epic for everyone but now they corrected that. This scenario is not for the casual or even mid level players. It is for the top 20 % of all players. For me as a fury warrior iLvl 507 with almost no survival abilities there is no way to get through this scenario.

Is it me or are many on here talking through there arses, and never been near this quest just read $%^& then spam crap.

Point in question easy to do last phase as a healer (bollax) cant be done, attempted over 50 times, every time i get to the 7th insanity i`m wasted and the sucker still has 16 mill health
and i`m in an anvil free zone, So unless ive read this wrong it is impossible to do as a healer

After trying one time as a shadow priest I realized there was no way I was going to make it before I used all the forges. So I came here and saw healing was a viable option.

Got him down to about 5 million with one forge still active as a holy priest by healing/dispelling the defender and letting it dps the boss.

The lance became active and everything became glowy and I couldn't really see anything and died as the boss was doing insanity.

My gear was broken so i had to leave to repair.

Gonna come back next time and get it.

This is the first time I regretted not having the travelers tundra mammoth..... Gonna have to do all the foreplay all over again.

I am unsure if the lance triggers at a certain % of sha life or its on a timed thing and you just have to survive for a while.

I believe its based on his hp, somewhere around 5-6 million the spear completes, as this time around I was out of forges to click instead of having one left. Completed on my first attempt healing this time around. The spear spawns in the center area as if you had just come down the stairs, its fairly large and floats in the air. After clicking it you gain an ability which you then need to target the sha and click the ability(like the dream ability on deathwing or kick turtle on tortos).

Things that may help as a priest. Power infusion(haste and reduced mana cost) and the purify glyph(3% hp on dispell) are helpful.

I found this impossible with my warrior (Ilvl 502 Fury/ ILvl 498 Prot). In the final phase there was just too much damage to keep up with as Fury. In Prot I got him down to about 30% before running out of anvils. Simply not enough DPS. I tried keeping the sha on me as much as possible to avoid health drain on the protector, but the protector quickly dropped to 50% HP during AoE attacks and stayed there most of the fight. I completed with my Shadow Priest and Blood Death Knight, both I felt to be challenging; however these classes had the healing and DPS necessary to get through the fight. Fury warrior survivability is just not adequate for this, and Prot DPS is just too low. Maybe with another +20 item level but the reward wont mean much by then. It will be interesting to see if the survivability of my rogue fairs any better.

Wow, i did it after around 15 wipes.

All the advice at the top is valid, so im not going to repeat, except to say keep aware of the bosses abilities, if you can keep away from Crash and avoid meteor, and then click anvil on insanity, you should be OK.

Be aware there is a sort of enrage timer, as you can run out of anvils, even if you use them only on Insanity.

But worth it, i don't believe there is enough hard solo stuff in the game.

I did this last night on my Survival hunter and it was BRUTAL. Survival (despite the name) has no real healing abilities so all I could do was just avoid as much as possible and push the DPS as hard as a could. I spent over 500G in repair bills and went through about a stack of food and potions. At the end, Wrathion finishes the staff and you have to go click it to enable an extra action button; I actually died while clicking this button twice before actually killing the mob (grrrr).

Some things to note:

If you die, the place you respawn will put you right back into combat unless you move to the very edge of the door to the room. Once there, you can eat/flask and you can also MOUNT. So if you have a repair mount then this can make things much easier, because...
If you have to leave the instance for any reason, you will have to start over from the beginning again where he pours the metal for the staff
Maybe it was just my bad luck, but the "healing circle" always seemed to be spawned at the exact times that you couldn't be standing in the healing circle (i.e. when all the AOE stuff was on the floor). I would say that I was able to use this circle about 20% of the time.
As a hunter, I used a tank pet for this as I was having to spend a lot of cooldowns on mend pet when using my DPS pet
(if you are an SV Hunter) Beast Mastery is probably the way to go on this fight, but I was not fully comfortable with the rotation, and I did not have access to a spirit beast pet (I just switched my OS to BM recently)
If you bring health potions, don't forget that health potions and agility potions share a cooldown (like I did, lol). Using bandages (as pointed out above) is the better option.
Once the AOE phase ends you are going to want to find the next active anvil ASAP so that you are ready for the next Insanity cast

Did this as a 508 IL Ret Pally.

The first two parts are easy enought. Just kill the adds and go from there. Part 3 in the quest where u have to kill the sha is the hard part.

Here are a few things to do.

One: The Cel. will do the tanking for the most part you can't out threat it and if so not for long so fill free to dps to your hearts content.

Two: As the Cel. tanks the Sha he will drop a green beam. Stand in it to get healed. It helps make the fight easier.

Three:Intruped the Insane cast by clicking on an anvil. Kite Sha when he banished the Cel. And Run around the room during Meteor Shower and avoid the gray pools on the floor. Don't worry about healing the Cel. if it hits 1% health it will channel a heal and restore it back to heal. Also during the fight there will be a small add that spawns, Kill it it cannels something on the Cel. that isn't good.( Didn't check to see want it did to him.) Also if he cast Shadow Clash move away it has around a 5 yard range for aoe damage.

Four: Repeat until Wrathrion tells you the weapon is ready and then kill the sha.

Hopefully it will not cost you 200g in repairs like it did me to learn the fight.

I gave up , as usuel Blizz love to deceive us with stupid quests like this one after all that has been done to get there 1700 gold in repairs so far i refuse to go on , no more fun , i find that the game has gone down , poor loot in raids , servers deserted , auction house is not working anymore and on top we have quests impossible to complete

I just completed this on my BM hunter. I failed quite a few times until I wised up. I bound mend pet to a convenient key and just kept running...healing my pet as I went. It helped me to avoid the Shadow Crash (the ability that hurt me most often) and the meteor shower. I tried to stay near the active anvils, using the ones furthest away first. Using this method, I took hardly any damage and was able to keep my pet up and active.I must add that the fight ended up taking over 5 minutes to complete this way.

Not so bad as 512 resto shaman, I was enhance OS up to the last part where you go inside. Typical fight adds then a big guy thing you've seen a 1000 times by now.
Inside the forge part is tricky. I couldn't dps it down quick enough so I went resto. My pve enhance gear is ilvl ~490 and its my OS so I felt more comfortable keeping them alive.
The first part with 2 star guys is pretty easy, Keep the fighting one topped off he does more dps with more hp , and keep an eye on the blacksmithing one the little adds head to him before the fighter taunts them.
I wiped once (I was up on the stairs part) but once you figure it out easy enough just long fight. Remember to dispel the star man ASAP. Keep HoTs & ES on it 100%, the more hp the more dps it does. Once you heal him up he never got really low on HP where I was worried or anything. Always be by forge to interrupt its Insanity, not sure if it's a timed cast or hp based. Spiritwalker's Grace helps when its the AoE part.
My totems seemed to help it so BL, stormlash, summon elementals, keep searing totem going, its got like 31m hp so every bit helps.

As a melee dps class I could see this being a pain in the ass, the circle it summons to heal wasn't in melee range plus you have to run to the forges and use them.

I think I am 508Arms now, after 4 hours of wiping over multiple days, I have given up. If the anvils respawned versus one-time use, that would make it do-able. Thanks blizz for, once again, providing content that range can one or two shot and melee are doomed for failure until next patch gear upgrades.

Relatively easy with a ranged class that can auto-heal. As an elemental shaman ilvl 504 it took me 2 wipes. This is one of those fight where you can't afford mistakes. As soon as the "casting insanity" message appears, you need to click on an viable anvil within seconds. Best way to do this is to pre-position yourself next to an usable anvil and dps the boss from afar until the casting begins, click on the anvil, and move to the next anvil. There's an add that spawns. It doesn't have much health and I couldn't really figure out what it did but you can kill it very quickly. When the meteor rain begins stop dpsing if necessary just run around and avoid every meteor (if you have unleashed lightning glyph or spirit walkers grace off cool down you can continue dpsing while moving, but if it comes to a decision between stopping dps or taking damage it is best to stop dps). Basically every ability is avoidable, except for the melee hits that will come when the celestial protector fades, so just take those hits and quickly heal through them with healing surge. Once you become familiar with the mechanics, the fights is not hard. But again, you can't afford many mistakes or you will die.

I read all these comments fearing that it would be terrible as melee (arms warrior). Only the last phase (6?) is actually hard.

After wiping the first 3 times, I realized that there's no rush to actually damage the final boss mob. There's no hard enrage at all.

All the damaging mechanics are avoidable:

- Celestial Defender banished - Just run away don't try to tank it
- Celestial Defender is critically injured - Run away / kite around the room until he comes up
- Meteor storm - Run away, like just run until its over and don't stand in bad stuff
- Shadow nova - Run away (this one hurts but the range is also very short)
- Insanity - Click the anvil to stop it from casting. Heroic Leap away.

Stand in the green beams whenever you can. They're typically out of melee hit range but it doesn't matter, get your health to full.

Clicking the anvils stuns the boss as well as puts a damaging debuff on him. You will have plenty to use, I only actually used 3, there's a total of 6-7 in the room.

I found this scenario fun, and shouldn't have read most of the comments here. They really were unhelpful!

All you have to do for the ending of this quest is pop every anvil at once and that should enable "Algalon" (not sure about exact name - the celestial NPC) to kill the Sha in about 2 hits. Worked when I did it (1-2 weeks ago). This might take you a few attempts though, because you have to use the anvils really fast (speed increases help). To clarify: as soon as the fight starts, use the first anvil, use a speed increase, continue using anvils and use speed increases as you go.

In doing this, the friendly NPC will do around 20 million DPS.

I'm pretty sure that the debuff that the anvils give out stacks on the boss in a multiplicative fashion. I.e. when the boss gets 2 debuffs he will take 1000% more damage (100% x 100%) as opposed to 200% more damage (100% + 100%) and so on. This makes the friendly NPC do tons of damage, which allows him to kill the Sha in about 10 seconds.

Melee tips:
- Spec into talents/abilities that provide extra healing or speed boosts. Check your glyphs too!
- Always make sure you know where an overcharged anvil is so you can quickly get to it when the sha casts Insanity. Interrupting Insanity (and thus staying alive) is primary; doing damage to the sha is secondary.
- Remember the defender will do some tanking, so you don't have to take on all the mobs at once.
- The sha casts an AoE ability called Shadow Burst that does a fair amount of damage and reduces your haste for several seconds. It has a 3 second cast time - move out of it.

Rogues:
- Make sure to use Recuperate when needed.
- Glyph of Deadly Momentum didn't appear to work for me when the little adds died, so use something else, like Glyph of Recuperate (increases the healing of your Recuperate ability by an additional 0.5% of your maximum health) or Glyph of Cloak of Shadows (while Cloak of Shadows is active, you take 40% less physical damage).
- Assassination rogues: swap out Glyph of Vendetta for something else (see suggestions above) since it reduces your Vendetta damage and you're not on any mob long enough for the glyph to be useful.
- Combat rogues: swap out Glyph of Blade Flurry for something else (see suggestions above). Your experience may be different, but when I ran the scenario I don't think the adds clustered enough or stayed alive long enough for GoBF to be advantageous.
- Using Shiv when you're specced into Leeching Poison heals you for 5% of your health (via Leech Vitality), so you should be less dependent on the sometimes-not-so-helpfully-placed healing columns. Remember Shiv is on a 10-sec CD.
- Spec into Burst of Speed and spam it when the Sha banishes the defender and starts chasing you. You can also use it on the meteor storm for added safety though it's probably not strictly necessary.

After numerous deaths as a resto shaman i realised you could just click all 7 anvils as fast as you could, then target boss, click spear then click extra action button to impale him and finish him off. Takes about 20 seconds.

Finally did it as a Frost mage (ilvl 516). Used Chun Tian spring roll and Runescroll of Fortitude III for maximum health plus a flask and just kept moving, always staying near an anvil for when he does his insanity ability, only problem I had - and actually died the first time - was the Sha was on top of the Lightning Lance when it appeared and I couldn't find it so maybe a macro mind come in handy :)

Phase 3 Sha Amalgamation strategy: with the help of information posted, used tank pet (turtle), and put mend pet into my rotation. Put all your attention onto when the Sha is casting Insanity and click an anvil. This is NOT a dps fight. This is a stay alive fight, so keep running, avoid dropping balls, mend your pet, get in the green light if you can, and of course dps. In fact, you can be out of dps range to hit a anvil, but you need to be close to mend your pet.

One more note, stolen from someone else below. IF you do die, while you are waiting for rez timer, get close to door. When you are alive, eat, repair (if have mount), etc. If you do this away from door, the Sha is already attacking the Celestial Defender and you are just making it harder on yourself.

Ilvl 505 Frost Mage.

I wiped on the last phase several times. Not unlike many guilds tackling a boss like Elegon, Garlon, or Horridon for the first time. Accept that it might take a couple of sessions and several wipes. Here are a couple of things that might help the squishy mages out there like me.

The conditions:

1) Used a Flask for Int; Did not bother with food…waste of time and food for the itty bitty boost.

2) I averaged 64K on DPS…down from normal 104K plus in other raids.

3) At 64K, plan on 8 minutes for the fight...the fight ended in about 5-6 min.

4) Survival > DPS. Period. KNOW how and when to avoid damage:

All the damaging mechanics are avoidable (as quoted above with one addition at the bottom:

- Celestial Defender banished - Just run away don't try to tank it
- Celestial Defender is critically injured - Run away / kite around the room until he comes up
- Meteor storm - Run away, like just run until its over and don't stand in bad stuff
- Shadow nova - Run away (this one hurts but the range is also very short)
- Insanity - Click the anvil to stop it from casting.
-Shadow Burst- Stay out of Melee Range. It’s a lot like Arcane Explosion….but worse.

5) Avoiding above damaging abilities > green healing pillar. I maybe used it 1-3 times in VERY short bursts. It’s a double-edged sword…a desperate attempt to heal may lead to bad timing with either damaging abilities or being away from an anvil during Insanity. Smart movement wins the day whether avoiding damage or healing with the pillar.

Save Blink for when the Boss chases you or to get to an anvil for the Insanity Interrupt. Mirror Image seemed to buy some time as well during the chase until the Defender came back up.

I used Time Warp after the Meteor Shower thing. The nature of the fight does not maximize your burn time, but it doesn't hurt to get a little help...every bit of DPS counts.

Finally, 5-6M Health is about right when the Spear shows up. Interesting note: I made it to the spear, but had Cauterize going on and then died before I could click the spear to expose the special button. I’ll be darn-danged and the spear was still there after the rez. Click, push button…win.

GOT THE TRICK NOW...after wiping and whining like all the melee in here, I read a comment about popping all the anvils right at the start. I tried it but wiped immediately, however, I did find that a slight modification that worked perfectly and I downed the Sha of Almagamation in 2 attempts and here is how:

1. Get some speed pots
2. Flask and food buff up, repair in the front door corner, wait for ALL your cooldowns
3. Pop the speed pot and zip past the Sha and start clicking on the anvils (you can click on them on the run), run on the inside track and come back around to the shaw but leave the last anvil active
4. The Sha's health is low at this point, did not have time to check what it was exactly but Pop all CD's and zerg boss down, he may cast one insanity, use the last anvil
5. at 20% health, it is over, profit

This was so ez to do, i could not believe it. If you find the comment about popping all the anvils, please leave a reply to my comment and give the dude credit. Thank you wowhead community, you came through again!

Just wiped 3x then came to read some posts. The speed trick with all the anvils still works. I went holy bc prot pal dps sucks unless you have a decent amount of vengeance. But after I popped speed of light and ran from anvil to anvil, the amalgamation was at 2m hp and the spear appeared. Tried in prot without speed of light and the debuff doesn't stack fast enough. So a speed buff is required for this strat to work.

Protection Warrior tips for the final phase:

Since the number of anvils represents the enrage timer, you want to be able to do as much damage as possible, as fast as possible. I finally managed to beat the encounter with the following (ilevel ~519 gear):

DPS trinkets, strength flask and food
Talents and Glyphs: anything and everything that increases DPS:

Dragon Roar and Bloodbath
Heavy Repercussions and Hold the Line

Pop Recklessness + Mogu Potion when you pull

DPS uptime is very important, so try to re-position the Sha nearest your next anvil to click every time it banishes the Defender. Saves you from having to run to an anvil, then back to the boss, losing DPS in the process.

As Prot you shouldn't have to worry too much about standing in the green beam for heals as long as you avoid the avoidable damage (run 10 yards out of AOE and continously run during the bad rain), just don't be afraid to use your defensive abilities early/often. Enraged Regeneration or Impending Victory (and 2p Tier 15 Prot bonus if you have it) should work well.

Finally at 20% be ready to click that lance to finish the encounter ASAP. If you've run out of anvils by that point, pop Shield Wall during Insanity if it goes off. Good luck!

What a terrible, terrible quest, wish I could give advice to the next Holy Priest that tries this. After many, many tries as a healer, I couldn't keep him healed to full each anvil I clicked would damage him as well, and since I was focused on him I wouldn't be aware of shadow crashes or insanity as well as I should (focus didn't help) I was constantly out of anvils when he was still at 40%. I have no 2nd spec, but I do kill rares with "Holy DPS" so in desperation I tried that, completely ignoring my helper's health and just keeping myself alive. I didn't run away 1st time when I should and died, but I noticed something I was going through anvils a lot slower as DPS. My 2nd time was a success, all I did was my 2 dots and smite and heal myself as needed. Kiting him when the helper wasn't able to tank him and since I had him targeted was able to move from shadow crashes. Good luck guys.

As Shadow Priest:

First part, simply dps the adds, click on the anvils when they are active. I threw a few renews on the helpers, not sure if it helped or not.

When the Sha Amalgamation appears, use a speed increase (I had Body & Soul) to zoom around and click on 6 of the 7 anvils. This will knock the Sha down to about 30%. You need to blow all your cooldowns to dps him as fast as possible to get him to 20% at which time the lance appears overhead. Move out of any circles at your feet while dpsing. During the time you are dpsing him down to 20%, you will need to click on the last anvil when the Sha starts to cast Insanity. At 20%, click the lance and it ends.

Just completed this quest om my ilvl 511 MM hunter. Got it into my second try. First try failed because I didn't understand the mechanics and my cooldowns were all misalligned. I didn't realise the fight would start immediately after the pre-stages.

For me it was a lot easier than I feared after reading all this, but at the same time I now understand why so many people hate this quest.

This quest is very hunter friendly and my ilvl of course helped a lot as well. But I take my hat of for e.g. mages who completed it at lower ilvl's than I did, and I cannot even try and think of how I'm supposed to complete this on my healer druid without dps off-spec.

As a hunter you can leave your pet on the boss the whole fight, making sure Mend Pet, MoC, Sting and Dire Beast keeps roling. Spirit Bond and the 8% CS heal had litle issues keeping me alive even though I managed to get myself hit 3 time. I did use a pot once, just because I didn't want to take risk so close to the end.

I assume warlocks can use a similar tactic: During the meteor shower focus solely on staying alive and ignore dps during that fase. Also stay near the anvils the whole fight. But of course if you are not ranged or have lower dps due to lowever ilvl, that tactic may probably fail.

The green zones are pretty much useless. I only managed to grab one.

The tricky part seems to be the start of the fight. The first try I had wasted all my cooldowns on the pre-fase, and worse, causing all of them to be misalligned. As fellow hunters know, e.g. misalliged rappid fire & stampede is not good for dps, especially since the first few seconds of the fight actually allow you to go all out and get a good start.

So I recommend either saving all cooldowns, or simply use the first asttempt as a learning try and accept you will die. Then after ress, ress next to door and assault with all nicely alligned.

But again, I take my hat of for non-ranged classes classes without self-heal. This fight is unfriendly for them. Just remember, after this fight it is all down hill and the gem is yours.

Just completed this myself on second try, by using a Darkwater Potion.
I'd really like to confirm, that it actually is possible to use a speedpotion like this- but - I'm not entirely sure it wasn't just a bug..?

Because as soon as Sha appeared, i popped a potion like mentioned by others, ran inner lap all the way around and started to click em all, without stopping - but instead of leaving the last anvil up, i pressed it aswell. Instantly the Sha despawned and quest got flagged as completed. Didn't even hit it once, done in less than 5 secs..? Am i REALLY lucky, or is the secret just to be fast as hell? :p

Anyway, it's definately worth picking up some pots before you head out there to try for yourself :-)

If you die after the lance has been completed but before you get a chance to use it, it will still be there when you rez. Just walk up to it and click it to get the extra button to appear, then press that and channel the spell. Sha dies! You don't have to do the whole thing over again!

Something from Captain Obvious:

1) enter the instance fully repaired (see 2)
2) don't leave the instance for repair, you will lose all your progress

After starting:
You can repair at the beginning (outside the forge) before you speak with furion, if you have a repair mount.

This just works as any other instance but since this instance was primarily designed to annoy users as much as possible, you might forget this when dealing the last boss (especially after *cough* *cough* some wipes...)

I am frost DK ilvl 508 and wiped many times on Sha of Amalgamation. Then I decided to change to Blood specs with dps gears and fight was walking into park. I was able to tank the boss while Celestial Defender was vanished.

Get a speed pot when sha apears drink potion click 6 anvils as fas as you can, (run the inside route and dont stop you can click while running)

Blow CDs on boss, at insanity click last anvil little more dps on sha and he will be at 20% click spear...

Done on 515 arcane mage last week. after dying SOOOOOO many times... tried this strat twice messed it up first time got it second time. DARKWATER POTION is a must! This may not be the correct way to do it, but it works and after spending weeks trying it the way you would think it should be done. I was about to give up till I read this strat here.

ok so I just did this one as a Ret Pally, ilvl 511. the strategy I used for the boss was to not activate ANY anvils at the start. I waited till the Celestial Guardian went down, then I pulled him to the nearest functioning anvil - which allowed me to interrupt asap. took me about 5-6 goes but I eventually figured that one out lol

also, it should be noted that the lance is on the other side of the forge from the entrance

So after spending a couple hours on the last stage, I said "Screw it" and hit all the anvils. Amazingly, the debuff stacks from them. The protector took the Amalgamationto 23%, then I died, reset, and hit all but one of them, saving the last to interupt the sha's first Insanity, making this insanely easy and quick.

Holy Priest attempt.

After failing many times a guildie suggested spec Solace and Insanity.

After the initial part go inside and start the anvil part. At phase one just keep the Blacksmith topped up and the defender, did a bit of dps on mobs, click anvil when DBM says so and that has never been problem.

Phase two - All I did was heal up the defender, I didn't dispel him at all and fired off Solace and Insanity every cool down (10 secs) on the Sha and kept Shadow word Pain up. Run around and keep out of stuff on floor and click anvil at every time boss casts Insanity. Don't worry if you get the message the Celestial is near death, just crack on with it.

I had almost given up trying this quest after dying so many times as I had used up all the anvils but the boss was only at around 50% and ofc certain death follows.

I finally completed this on my Fury Warrior, over the last long weeks I read all the comments and tried all the suggested tactics to no avail, for a Fury Warrior it just boils down to good gear, good dps, staying alive and a little luck.

I used Flask of Winter’s Bite, Spicy Salmon and a Potion of Mogu Power.

In Phase 3 I stuck close to the Celestial Blacksmith and dps/aoe the adds, I bandaged him near the end just to be sure.

The second part:

1. Dps whenever you can.
2. Stand in the green beam whenever you can.
3. Run from boss if he attacks.
4. Avoid stuff on the ground.
5. Heal yourself whenever you can.
6. Click the anvils when asked.

To my surprise the spear appeared, I clicked on it then on the button which appeared on-screen, game over!

I am not the best moving dpser so I found this hard but take heart if I can do it, it can be done.

I've looked at what the priests are saying, I'm a shadow priest item lvl 512. I got to the part where the sha comes out. For the life of me I can't get done been an hour and die die with hardly any damage to the sha. Any more tips. Please. Fathershemp kargath. Thanks a lot.

As a Hunter, this is fairly easy once you utilize a few fairly simple class mechanics.

1. Use a tank pet, preferably a Turtle and keep up at all times. Make sure you keep adds off the Celestial Blacksmith or he will leave if his health gets to low.

2. When the Defender gets banished, your will hold the Sha Amalgamation in place and you will not get chased allowing you to keep up the DPS. When the defender is banished, you can use bandages to heal yourself if you need since your pet will hold aggro and give you a breather.

2. Stay to the back of room near the furthest anvil and work your way forward after each interrupt. This way, when you are near the end and need to grab the you will be close and wont have to work to hard to get to it.

3. MD any small adds to your pet if needed.

Many say this is not a DPS fight and though it's not a pure a dps fight, realize the defender will only do 45k and if you run out of anvil's before the boss is down to 20%, game over...as his will work like an enrage.

I tried this a few times until I realized that a tanking pet would keep everything in order but make sure you are constantly using your .

Ok, I just did this early this morning as an iLvl 513 Shadow Priest. It took me three attempts and I read up on the fight prior to attempting.

My first two attempts, I tried the "run the inner circle and click six of the seven forges as you run, without stopping" strategy. Both of these attempts, it only brought him down to approximately 55%. From there, I DPS'd as good as I could and got him down to about 27% both times before dying to the second insanity (first one being interrupted by the remaining anvil.)

However, on the third attempt, I opted to run the same strategy, but instead click all seven of the anvils. This brought him immediately down to 17%, the spear spawned, clicked the spear and that was it. Not sure the specific mechanics of it all, but clicking all seven anvils asap made this encounter trivial.

Also, I did not use a speed potion. I setup two angelic feathers at the start and roughly 2/3 of the way into the circular path.

There are some stages of my WoW life where I have gone in to NERDRAGE melt-down, and I must say, this is definitely one of them times without a (sha)dow of a doubt (hehehe see what I did there. Anyways to cut a super long story short, I wiped dusted off tried again etc about 10+ times, then I started reading more posts on how to nuke this guy down and I found a super easy way from Turpentine.

All you do is wait for the Encounter to start and then I clicked the 1st anvil, then I dropped Darkwater Potion and sprinted around the forge and popped all the rest of the Anvil's in succession. By the time I got round to the Defender and Sha, The Sha inhaled his last breathe.

Needless to say I jumped up and screamed F&*K YEAH and woke 1/2 the neighbour hood

Good luck guys on this extremely hard (and now made easy P2 of Wrathions Scenario). Now go get your lance abd sort out Nalak.

A few general notes & some specific ones for those that go for the healing path:

If you stand next to the spirit healer, you'll get 100% health or mana, whenever I ran in and res'd there, both were halved.

After a few wipes, I tried spec'ing into DPS, which was not the best idea for my spirit gear, and when I went back to healing Celestial Defender got removed from my group in the UI. If this happens, Healbot users can add Focus to their frame from the Skins menu in Options.

When Insanity is being cast, if you're already near an anvil, don't click it right away, wait for the first hit (if you're healing that is, else wait until the bar is nearly complete) the few extra seconds you let the Defender hit the Sha may save you 1-2% boss health, which was what I needed for the last few tries.

I have wiped many times until one of my strategies worked and tried eating a lot in the earlier tries. Simply don't, you won't be able to finish eating, and just throw your food in the garbage.

Healers also need to consider all their utility moves; As a Resto Druid I would remind all colleagues to take Nature's Vigil to some boost to damage while healing, always to be used after anvils when you're heavily focus healing the Defender. Also refresh Faerie Fire on Sha, that Weakened Armor makes a difference... Also Force of Nature worked better for me compared to Tree of Life, as there is not enough Lifebloom targets to proc free regrowths, you run out of mana fast while using Incarnation.

I did it after I don't know like 13 tries. I'm resto druid but after few tries I changed my spec to boomkin. And that was a good idea. At final stage I turned int catform, run asap and clicked all forges - after clicking the last one Sha was lik 2 mln hp, so I quickly clicked the lance, used it and the quest was complete :) With all of that it was quite easy.

The first two phases are no big deal.

The last one though....definitely frustrating but doable. I didn't read very far into the thread so I didn't use a tank pet, which also means I never had to heal my pet.

I gave up on the healing beams early on, unless they stood outside of the circle since the meteor shower seemed to invariably turn up in them. There's so much in the room you can get stuck on (run into) that I wanted a clear getaway if I needed to leave fast.

Anvils I used starting with the furthest ones out, and I stayed at max range to get a head start when the defender took his breaks.

The Sha doesn't seem to cast shadow crash at you if you're out of LOS, so if I got low on life I'd stand behind the forge and let the Defender do all the work for a bit.

I had no heal pots or bandages with me, so my self heals were limited to Gift of Naruu and Alchemist's Rejuvenation potions.

You do not have to be a hard core gamer to do this. I never have been. You just have to be stubborn enough not to give up.

If you die in the end stage release and go stand against the door behind the spirit healer as not only will you get full mana and health it won't start the encounter like it does if you stand in front of the spirit healer, giving you time to eat.

I'm resto shamen so I went healing route - by far the best advice is from aspasito below - make sure you let insanity hit at least once as it shortens the fight enough to make the anvils last. I'm 518 and found I could let it hit twice and still be able to heal.

When the lance appears and you click it you should get a button to throw the lance, I had a few moments of panic as mind was hidden by my UI.

518 Arcane Mage - Just completed this after various attempts. (Honestly does not matter your ilvl long as you can kill adds in the first phase)

The absolute easiest way to do this is: DPS or Attack if you are melee the various sha in the first phase.

Once you get to the 2nd phase the boss sha will appear. I HIGHLY recommend getting a Darkwater Potion to aid in this part. You will get in the INNER CIRCLE by an anvil, use your potion and run around the INNER circle clicking every anvil as fast as possible.

I made the mistake several times of trying to run around the outside clicking everyone, and you will simply not have time before the sha casts insanity. So again crucial you run around the inside circle clicking every anvil fast! (You can click the anvils while moving) Do not stop until every anvil is activated.

If you did this correctly the sha will be next to dead, the lance will appear (can't miss it, it's huge) click the lance then target the sha and click the button in the middle of the screen directly above your hotbar. SUPER EASY if done correctly, but may take a couple attempts just to get your movement down since you have to do it very quickly.

*Note - This method requires a speed boost (blink and other "quick" spurt spells are not speed boosts) Just suck it up and grab a couple Darkwater Potions.

Don't get frustrated, can take a couple attempts.

Ok, all good suggestions, but it apparently doesn't work for a 514 Destro Warlock.
Hitting all 7 anvils at once does take the Sha Amalgamation's health down, but not far enough and exactly what do you do when he still pops insanity with no anvil left? You cannot run from that...I tried and with no anvil to dispell it, what do you do? Of course it doesn't help that WOW has nerfed my haste for this instance so it takes forever to cast. When you res for the last time before your armor is shot, he instantly pops insanity. How can this be right? I had my Voidlord out and the Abyssal and it still didn't take him down close enough to even be close to killing the Sha Amal. With little trash you can't build up enough burning embers to zap him with a chaos bolt, even if you don't trip on all the crap in there, running to keep out of stuff on the floor, etc, etc. Anyone have any clues? Darkwater potion does not help.

3. start out by healing the protected tell he dose his first insanity thing
4. Pop the speed boost and zip past the Sha and start clicking on the anvils (you can click on them on the run), run on the inside track and come back around to the shaw but leave the last anvil active

I am a 515 ilvl 90 Destruction Warlock. Like many, I tried and tried to best that Sha Amalgamation, dying more times than I can count, relearning every dirty word I ever knew and cursing WOW for my repair bill which, I'm sure, affected the National Economy. Upon the advice of a very wise guildie, I switched from Archimonde's Vengeance to Kil'Jaeden's Cunning which allows one to cast on the fly. I clicked on anvils one at a time just after the first pulse of Insanity, not all or several at once as had been suggested. It apparently made the difference and now I can put this miserable quest behind me. Good luck to all.

Hadn't seen any advice for doing this as a tank, so I'll throw in my 2 cents. Although I was very nervous from the posts, I was able to one-shot it as an ilvl 509 Guardian Druid. Tanking doesn't seem that hard, if it is an option for you.

As mentioned before the first phase (in the courtyard) is trivial. Just round up and kill mobs with your 3 Shado-Pan warrior helpers. The second phase has many adds inside the forge room, and is also easy. Just round up the adds, do your best to kill them, and click an anvil for a big AoE when you get 5 or 6 of them on you. Use this time to learn the room.

Only the final phase with the Sha Amalgamation is challenging. As a tank, you won't have difficulty staying alive, just making sure you can beat the enrage timer: running out of anvils. You will have the trusty Celestial Defender there to help you, and you can help him help you with DPS. For most of the fight, just pick up and tank the Sha standing next to one of the anvils. As soon as the Sha begins to cast Insanity, click the anvil to interrupt it. Then, back up around the circle until you are at the next anvil, so you are ready for the next cast. Repeat.

The Sha will never use his Shadow Crash on you because you will always be in melee range, so you just need to worry about the Meteor Storm every now and then. When it happens, just run around the Sha and the anvil for a little bit and dodge the white circles on the ground. Heal up if you get hit... it's not that bad on a tank.

The big Sha will occasionally summon a little Debilitating Sha. If you can try to pick it up and cleave it down to keep it from stunning the Defender.

The key to tanking this is to keep the Amalgamation on YOU, not the Defender. The Defender will constantly taunt like a bad LFR tank. Do your best to grab it back as soon as you can. This keeps your Vengeance up -- good for DPS -- and keeps the Defender from taking damage. The higher the Defender's health, the more damage he will do because of his Astral Endurance buff.

If you can keep the DPS high enough, Wrathion will voice emote that the spear is ready. It will eventually appear hovering vertically in the air. Click it, then use your special action ability button on the Sha. Yay, you win!

Tried it last night as a lvl 510 Combat Rogue, and ended up having to do a slightly different strategy than some of the ones suggested here.

Rather than click all of the anvils at once, which didn't take the Sha down enough to have the spear appear, I did the following:

1. DPS'd as normal until the first Insanity, keeping Recuperate running at all times. Run around to avoid the Meteor Swarm impact points.
2. At the first Insanity, clicked an anvil to interrupt.
3. Popped all CD's and pushed max dps
4. At the next Insanity, popped Sprint and then ran around clicking all the remaining anvils.

This brought him down to low enough health to cause the spear to appear. Click then win.

I thought I'd throw in my two cents here, since no ones really talked about it as a tank. I just completed it as a bear, 517 equipped, and oddly enough, had more trouble in the beginning than the end. Getting the first wave down with the forgemaster, turned out to be a pain, cause I dont do much dps. If your shadopan guys die in that first section of the scenario, reset, and come back in, they DON'T respawn when you do. Just avoid as much of the damage as possible, and pick up the lightning balls, and gg eventually, it takes a while.

Phase 2, with the blacksmith, simple, stand ON the blacksmith, and AOE, they won't hit him, and they hit a tank like a girl, almost no damage taken.

Phase 3, the sha boss. Turns out, the insanity, is on a percentage of health, so that you have just enough anvils no matter how long it takes. And as a tank, you can take the hits fairly well, so you can actually taunt off the protector, and move the sha wherever you want. I taunted him to the anvil I wanted to press next, and waited for insanity. Strafe for the crash, run back in and beat on him some more. During meteors, you have to keep moving, but I stayed away from inactive anvils to avoid having to click one when i was no where near them. I ran along the outside of the room to the first inactive anvil, pulled a U-turn, and went along the center of the room along the active anvils, so no matter when he did insanity, I was right next to one.

At 20% the spear appears, pick it up, get an extra action button, use that button while targetting the sha, and gg.

Further strategy information for the last part of the scenario: for Healers.
Disc Priest, ilvl 508.
I was able to complete it my first try. I fully prepared for the long haul, but was surprised when I was able to down him so soon. I had read that the guardians do more damage with more health. I prioritized getting them up to as high a health as possible.

I decided to not do the "click all the anvils but one" approach. Using smite, penance, and holy fire on the sha, and then penance and greater heal to top up the guardian. I used the anvils only when insanity was casted. Self bubble and a HOT was all that was needed when the guardian was banished. Avoid the bad stuff on the ground and you should be fine.

I am pretty sure I had at least one anvil left by the end of the fight. Hope this helps.

did this after 500 gold spent on repaers. I followed the clicking all the avails hint and he died right after I clicked the last one. I was crazy I was in there with my healer for 5 hours. just follow this one it works.

Just completed this myself on second try, by using a Darkwater Potion.
I'd really like to confirm, that it actually is possible to use a speedpotion like this- but - I'm not entirely sure it wasn't just a bug..?

Because as soon as Sha appeared, i popped a potion like mentioned by others, ran inner lap all the way around and started to click em all, without stopping - but instead of leaving the last anvil up, i pressed it aswell. Instantly the Sha despawned and quest got flagged as completed. Didn't even hit it once, done in less than 5 secs..? Am i REALLY lucky, or is the secret just to be fast as hell? :p

Anyway, it's definately worth picking up some pots before you head out there to try for yourself :-)

Pretty much going to quit wow after 3 years over this quest - what a waste of time, the final part is nigh-on impossible. Really, really frustrated. Not completing this means no progression. Why bother with the next stage of this Legendary quest, why bother playing at all if you can't progress?
Going to give Blizz 30 days from 1st August to nerf this so it's actually possible within a decent amount of time, else, unsub for good for me, shame.

Maybe they nerfed this quest? I was using a 517 ilvl hunter, so that may also play a part. I had read all the advice so I was prepared with a stack of speed potions, heal potions, etc. I wanted to go through it once as a trial run without using anything just so I knew what to expect though. On my trial run I had to do a bit of AOE to grab all the little sha aggro from the defender in the first phase, but they weren't too bad. They do have some decent hp though and seem to hurt the defender way more than they did me.

Once the big sha came out I thought about doing the running around activating anvils trick, but I wanted to test out the sha's damage and abilities. He seemed to do very little damage. In the whole fight I popped mend pet twice. I have no idea if part of that is due to pets taking less damage from aoe spells. The meteor storm was probably the hardest part, but unless you have your video settings set too low, you can see the grey circles where the meteors are going to land and dodge them. I did get hit twice by the meteor splash damage, and they hit for around 95k each (My pet and I heal for a bit over 5k/sec with spirit bond). I used one heal potion.

Anyways, I only used the anvils when the the huge warning goes off that the boss is casting insanity. I ended up using 4 anvils and had 3 to spare at the end. When the guardian was banished nothing really changed because my pet kept holding aggro and had been tanking anyways. The hardest part was finding the dang lance when it spawned. It's a large glowing pillar that spawns near the center, but it was on the other side of the pillar from where I was. By the time I actually found and used the lance the sha only had around 5% life anyways.

This might only apply to hunters, but I thought I would give my account in case it helped another hunter or anybody else. They might have even just nerfed it before I did it.

Just completed this as a warrior, iLevel 511. I actually very few issues up to the Sha Amalgmation, where it just got stupid. In the first stages, raid awareness and setting you talents right will help. I recommend Second Wind to help with survivability, if you're not already using it. I switched to tank mode to defend the Celestial Blacksmith, which worked much better than DPS. The trick was to aggro the mobs, and group them on the anvils - saving the other two NPCs - click the anvils to destroy the mobs

As for getting past the Sha Amalgamation, the best advice is to use the Darkwater Potion for the 70% speed boost and click 6 of the anvils. I used this technique for my last 6 attempts after getting frustrated doing it the "normal" way, both as DPS and Tank, for at least 5 attempts each. It seemed the faster I managed to click them, the more damage they did to the Sha. On my last and successful attempt, I was quite quick and I only had to put in a few strikes with all CDs popped to reach the 20% mark, and was surprised to see the Spear appear.

So the key is to click the anvils in sequence as quickly as possible. If you fail, rinse and repeat.

Cost me 300 gold in repairs, but I have a Lei Shen key so I'll make that up quick. This is a knockdown drag out fight but I did it with a 504 priest. The initial fights are tough but not near impossible. Its the fight with the Sha Amalgum that is totally off the wall.

1)You can't heal the defender, his points are too high and his healing energy has no effect on you. 2) You throw everything at the Sha that produces damage and keep your self alive and healed.
3) You trip the anvils only when the Sha is about to launch insanity and only one. If you run out of anvils before the lance is completed and the Sha launches Insanity your toast.
4) Once you get the lance throw it at the Sha (Left Click). I was running around right clicking and nothing was happening. Then I left clicked and it died (but I died too so I didn't survive the final encounter either).

It can be done, but I am not sure how my rogue is going to handle this: My Hunter may have to rez his warp beast a few times and my mage has far more firepower.

Just completed this on mine Arcane Mage itemlv 499.

As other says the first phase is easy.
The second phase you have to pull the shas of the blacksmith and activate the anvils when active. i found that after activating the anvils , i will AOF the shas as they will take extra damage. This is a little harder as i failed it a couple of times and had to do it again.
The Iast phase I wiped 10 times before managing to do it. And i did it without the popping all anvils trick, as that did not work for my.

All you have to do is remember the mechanics dodge everything, don't stand in crap and when the Sha cast Insanity use an anvil. Also i used A Flask of the Warm Sun and some food for the stats.

When the Protector is defeated and the Sha is coming after you you can use mirror image to slow it down until the protector recovers. Also pop all your CD and Timewarp to give you that extra damage.

Also if you wipe remember that you can go and wait behind the spirit healer next to the door and when you will by resurrected the encounter will not start , giving you time to eat food , apply buffs and use repairs if needed (Don't leave the instance to repair as you will have to do it all over again)
So i hope the way i completed the instance will help other players. Good luck

It took me 4 times to get him down as an arms warrior with 509 ilvl. I used a Shield Wall macro when I was being targeted after the protector was banished, and taunted if a healing pillar was active close to the boss, so the boss was closer for me to damage. I also created a battle stance macro that equipped my 2hander after the boss was not targeting me. I made sure to use Retaliation (er, I mean Die by the Sword) as well.

I also recommend using over all the other talents, as I feel it’s a lot more reliable in a situation where greater heals were needed.

As for the Insanity ability, I used the anvils closest to him so I could spend more time DPS than charging/Heroic Leaping back and forth fighting LoS. I had two left over when he was dead.

I used Storm Bolt as often as I could, especially on the little baby sha’s to stun then pewpew.

Make sure you're buffed with a flask and a food buff, as well as with Battle Shout. If you wipe, make sure you wait for your /Recklessness (which should already be macro'd together) and Shattering Throw to be off CD so they're ready to be blown as soon as you engage the boss. Also keep Deep Wounds up with Thunder Clap. When you res, res as close to the door/behind the spirit healer as possbile. The boss will engage if you res in the hallway.

So all the warriors that are struggling and giving up - DON'T! It's an avoidance fight, which warriors excell at. Just stay on your toes and keep on trucking :)

Edit: I should also mention that my lock buddy supplied me with lock rocks prior to me queing for the instance. I had one left over by the time I had him dead!

I finally completed this dreadful quest. I followed the above comments about taking a Darkwater potion and I clicked on all the anvils except for one. I did about 5 secs of dps and the spear came down, clicked it and then clicked the button that appears over your action bars.

The spear comes down in the area closest to the door you came in by the 1st and last anvils. Look up and you'll see it. Also, be mindful when you're clicking on the spear to use it against the Sha that you're not standing in stuff on the floor.

Worst quest I've done since Vanilla, but amazingly easy when using the darkwater pot.

As an Arms warrior, this was a rather challenging fight for me to overcome. Everything I'm posting is in reference to the final phase. If you can't get there then good luck ... Normally I don't post but perhaps what little insight I have will be useful to another melee.

I tried all of the 'tricks' listed on here and none of them worked for my class and I was so fed up from all of my attempts that I had to walk away for a day. After regrouping this morning, I came better prepared. Lots of pots, food, bandages and a Flask of the Earth. For me, this is what worked for me:

Use taunt to control where he is when 'Insanity' pops. You decide which anvil to use and drag him closer to that anvil so 'Insanity' can be quickly squashed.
Activating every other anvil so they're more evenly spread
Healing yourself in the green every chance you can
Save 'Impending Victory' / Pots for dangerously low health
Kite / run OUTSIDE of the anvils at all times. Those chains will hang you up!
Be ready for the 'lance' to come down at 20% health. It lands between the two anvils by the front stairs. Grab it right away and target him to complete the quest.
This is the most important item - play smart . Treat this fight like a difficult raid achievement. Stay focused and don't lose your cool.

One shot this morning. Number 7 is what did it. I thought about this quite a bit and rolled over him but almost died twice. It's really not that difficult once you master the mechanics. I hope this helps another Warrior out.

Just completed this on about 10th try, on my 526 Resto Shammy.

I only did 34K heals and 9K DPS. But I went flat out after each anvil & got the defenders health up faster.

I DID run out of anvils & was probably 10 seconds from another Insanity. I tested earlier & at 526 I can heal about 2/3rds the way through insanity only. So would have died soon after, had I not got the lance.

I know there's lots of crying (me included). But you're working on a 600 cape. It's supposed to be hard. I suspect you just gotta execute your class really, really well.

Resto Shaman --

As a resto shaman, I went the healing route. Insanity is a Pulse aoe effect. I could take one or two pulses and then use the healing column created by the Celestial Defender to heal myself. Keep the Celestial Defender topped off as long as you can. After using an anvil to interrupt insanity, the Celestial Defender will reset to about 30% health (regardless his health when the anvil is triggered). Taking one or two pulses will help the Celestial Defender do more damage before you have to heal him up from the anvil usage. Take one or two pulses. When you see Insanity being cast, Ghost Wolf and run to the farthest anvil ... take a pulse or two then use the anvil. Run back and heal both of you up with totems, healing rain, and Greater Healing Wave on the Celestial Defender (use chain heal if you are very low and there is no green column to stand inside of to heal you). Move out of the crap that falls, running to the anvil you plan on using ... insanity usually will follow this or the Celestial Defender being banished. Don't worry about absorbing the boss damage while the Celestial Defender is banished ... easily healed through (I used chain heal or just healed the Celestial Defender with GHW. Keep the Celestial Defender topped off between the anvil usage and avoid the falling "stuff" ... it will get you there. Be quick with the Lightning Lance when it appears; it channels when used and you must be alive until it is finished casting.

Notes:

I found that using the Spirit Link Totem and Healing Tide totem together while standing next to the Celestial Defender and then using Ascendance, I could heal through many pulses of Insanity.

Insanity will continue to pulse indefinitely. If you cannot interrupt it, it will pulse and pulse until you are dead.

My 515 blood DK can't even do the OUTSIDE stage. I'm okay with avoiding the lightning whirlwind attack, but the "chased by lightning" thing keeps killing me.

Whoever designed this needs a blunt object applied directly to their head.

I was dreading this quest but completed it after only 3 or 4 tries once I got to the final phase. As an ilevel 513 fury warrior I think the secret to my success was Second Wind. The mobs didn't seem to hit too hard in the final phase and I'm convinced this talent saved me from a severe case of death.

Finally completed this infuriating quest the other day.

Suffice to say id watched all the youtube vids and read all the comments here. I did this on my DK, and although the first stage often gave me problems i usually managed to get to the last stage maybe with one death.

The dark-water potion method intrigued me but on my server just couldn't get hold of any! Id tried in frost, and usually failed, many times. In blood i was more successful, even getting the sha thing down to 18 % once but still no lance. Id tried running round and clicking the anvils and although it got the sha's health down it wasn't enough and with one anvil left id usually die not long after using it.....

After far too many repair bills i decided to stop and level mining and engineering for the nitro boost and Jeeves so i could repair in the scenario without having to leave and do the whole infernal thing from the start, and maybe the nitro boost would suffice for dark-water potion.....

I got carried away with that for a week or two, yes the mecchano-hog mainly and once id done that i headed back to this.

So off i trundle (yes, on my newly built mecchano-hog!) and off we go..."we will use an electrical charge...yada yada yada..."

Into the anvil bit, and i dont even target the sha, just pop the nitro boost and run round clicking the anvils. It runs out on five, so i run at normal speed to the sixth, click it and BAM! Quest complete.

I didnt even hit the sha, did'nt /lol him, tell him a joke or.. or even look at him.

I didnt use my AMD, my ghoul or anything else.

I probably could have done it naked.

I didnt click the lance, see the lance or notice any lance related paraphernalia .

But there it was in my bags and off i went to see Nalak....

So simple. Baffling to say the least!

I can complete the first stages with absolute ease. Once inside the Thunderforge, I can complete that first stage easily as well. As a Frost DW DK, the final phase is an absolute impossible nightmare. I've tried clicking all the anvils, I've tried fighting him normally, and I've tried it in Blood spec. I can't do it. I've gotten him down to 9 million. That was my best attempt, though usually, I die when he's still over 60%.

I've even easily gotten Silver in the Proving grounds. Yet, this sha is too powerful.

Just finished this a moment ago as a healer. The Shado Pan and both the blacksmith and the guardian now show up in Vuhdu.

I still could not beacon them but all of my other heals worked fine even Eternal Flame, Light of Dawn and Lay on Hands.

The lance is where Wrathion is located, about eye height and shining green.

I completed this in 496 Best in slot pvp gear on my frost mage. It wasnt that difficult if I picked the right glyphs and skills. Its a whole lot of dodging and bandaging, ice barriering and evocationing.

The trick? every time he starts casting insanity, use one of ur six anvils to interrupt his spell casting. Thats pretty much it.

Burn him to 20% health, the staff drops. This is when I died, but if you die, you an rez and run and pick it up and use it and its quest/boss over.

ATTENTION ALL PALADINS

You can use your Speed of Light talent and finish the anvil portion of the fight in about 5 seconds. The trick is to hit all 6 anvils as fast as possible. Use your sprint and run the inner circle and hit each anvil one by one. If done correctly, the Sha will die instantly.

I tried this after reading about the speed potion method and I was successful with no potions necessary!

Was the last fight nerfed? In 5.3 I had so many issues trying to do it as a resto shaman - I could never heal the Guardian to full, so ran out of time, but trying it just for kicks in 5.4, it was suddenly very easy and I had an anvil to spare. Of course, a few SoO items have helped, but that much?

Just a FYI for 5.4. I noticed that the older posts mention that once the spear appears, it will stay there even if you die, and can be used immediately on a subsequent attempt. That was not the case for me last night. I died to Insanity right after the spear appeared because I was looking for the spear - not an active anvil. Heh. When I came back, the spear was *not* where it had been, and I had to do the fight over again, this time successfully.

Holy Priest

Firstly make sure you have fully opened Thunder Isle, I had not and could not see the Black Prince only his Chat Bubble on the map.

When you start this you'll heal three NPC's that are fighting Mogu. They are fairly easy may have a mana drain. A few Mogu will attack you their hits are not hard and generally just help burn them down. A lightning Orb will appear grab it by running in to it, will assist your damage and healing. There are about 5 lots that appear, down them and then into the Anvil room.

Anvil Room
This is where it gets hard. I died many times and quit the instance once out of frustration.
Set your bars up for DPS and Healing, have everything easily accessible. Check your glyths for anything that will assist you, including extended range on Holy Fire. I ate +275 Int food and Flask for a 1,000 Int just to up my Shadow word and Holy Fire etc. Fight is rather hectic so dont be looking for spells.

Phase 1
Fairly easy two Defenders and they clear up the small and large Sha's reasonably easy, in fact when I had reentered for my new attempt (as I said I left out of frustration returned next day) didn't even use a charged Anvil, just healed the Defenders and let them do their thing.

Phase 2 (damn!)
Here a large Sha appears and you have one Defender the other just leaves noting you can do about it. The Defender is on 50% health, keep a Renew on him and heal as you feel is needed, dont focus on having him 100% health you need to be spamming damage spells on the Sha. Watch your chat window for "Sha is casting Insanity" that's when you need to use one of the Anvils and be standing at it if possible and ready to use. The Insanity thing hits hard and fast. The Sha will also have a period of casting pools where his spells land and do damage. I just ran arund and bubbled during this kept a renew on myself and the Defender and popped off a DPS spell every time I was off a pool. Don't under estimate this phase it is damn hard unless your maybe over 540 iLev.

Use all your damage on the Sha fast and often, keep the Defender alive but dont make that your Focus, DPSíng the Sha is your focus.

The Sha will banish your defender and go after you, doesn't last long and he hits for nothing so bubble and kite him, keep DPSíng as you can. It almost seemed if I dropped a Heal on the Defender during this, he came out of Banishment (not sure).

At about 20% health Wrauthion will say the spear is finished drive it into the Sha. The Spear is near the middle structure at the point where you entered, so maybe drop a world marker to help you get to it quickly when you first enter. Pick up the Spear and a action button will appear on your screen (dont search to equip spear) Target the Sha and press the action button your done! Grats!

To Nalak
Grab a few Guildies maybe only a well geared Tank (you dont have to kill Nalak). Pull Nalak and use the Spear on him, it's a quest item in your bag at this point so put it on your Bars.
A beam will go between you and Nalak and it's working. An add comes which will kill you if you stand still (I died, released, came back used the Spear again) I could not see the Add but my guildies told me that's what had killed me. So use the Spear and just run around in a circle around Nalak, keep healing your Tank and group it does not stop the process. Bingo 30 Secs or so and your done. On to the next step!

GOT THE TRICK NOW...after wiping and whining like all the melee in here, I read a comment about popping all the anvils right at the start. I tried it but wiped immediately, however, I did find that a slight modification that worked perfectly and I downed the Sha of Almagamation in 2 attempts and here is how:

1. Get some speed pots
2. Flask and food buff up, repair in the front door corner, wait for ALL your cooldowns
3. Pop the speed pot and zip past the Sha and start clicking on the anvils (you can click on them on the run), run on the inside track and come back around to the shaw but leave the last anvil active
4. The Sha's health is low at this point, did not have time to check what it was exactly but Pop all CD's and zerg boss down, he may cast one insanity, use the last anvil
5. at 20% health, it is over, profit

This was so ez to do, i could not believe it. If you find the comment about popping all the anvils, please leave a reply to my comment and give the dude credit. Thank you wowhead community, you came through again!

This worked perfectly! I kept doing everything else and the lance didnt pop the first time but tried this again and the lance popped sha was near dead and died with one hit from lance! thank you CHevehunter

To this date, I have not been able to pass the Sha, and I run out of anvils at 29 % health.
I am about 530 ilevel, with two stamina trinkets at 49x.

I have spent days doing it again and again. I tried as a tank, I tried to equip DPS pieces and respec to DPS. I have given mouse and keyboard to friends that play DPS, Heal and even Tank and none have been able to pass it. They have been able to do it on their Druid tanks, War tanks, but when I borrow them my acount, they run out of anvils when the Sha is around 30 to 50 %

I have a full set of LFR 528 ilevel stuff, and even the legs on ilevel 561.
Trying in seal of truth, seal of insight does not help. I do as much damage as I can, and I always die about 25 to 29 % of the Sha life.

It's been monthes. Monthes of tries. Reading comments, watching videos, and even letting friends try to do it from my account, half of the time in front of me. Even a friend that only plays DPS as a Paladin was shocked after 3 hours of trying to do it from my tank.

If I could put my hand on a GM, he would die on the spot. I am far beyond rage about this quest.
I am so enraged by this quest and failing to pass it that... it's like being in the eye of a cylone. You reach a so high level or anger that you remain calm but inside it's boiling like never.

I gave up on that quest. Not a single friend that tried using my account has been able to pass it. And some of them have been able to breeze over it using a DPS in clothes at around 500 ilevel. They would not believe their eyes. Tried again and again and came to the same conclusion as me.

This quest is the worst quest since Wow does exist. I gave up. There are limits to what a human being can endure ;-)

Did this tonight after about 50+ attempts with my ilvl 535 arcane mage. When this gamecontent was added, 535 was almost impossible to get (All Thunderforged Heroic raidgear). It is obvious that Blizzard has made this encounter harder (at least at present 5.4), which is unfair to us who did not make an attempt on the legendary questchain during 5.2. Back then it was possible at 510-530, and had bugs which made it even more simple.

My observations:

1. Room is cluttered and camera gets blocked at times, but more importantly, gets too close to see what is going on.

2. Difficulty is WAY to high, even for a legendary quest, especially now when the legendary questchain is required to do all game content out on Timeless Isle.

3. It was not possible to click on the spear since Sha Amalgamation block standing around it. I hade to take it down by pure magical force.

4. At each restart of the last fight, one gets a very slim chance to eat. If one clicks on the food immediately after being resurrected, the buff will probably show up, but if one is just a tiny bit late, one will be engaged in combat before the buff gets settled. The extra 300 intellect was essential for me.

5. The quest pays way to little to even start to cover repairs (1000+ gold), flasks and food.

My opinion: Blizzard needs to nerf this NOW or remove the requirement to have the legendary back to do the special rares on Timeless Isle. It is simply not fair to the players to block them from game content like this.

525 ilevel Frost Mage Strat:

1. Glyph of Evocation.. that little extra HP helps.. A lot

Phase 1:

Sheep 1st mob while you kill the second, then kill first. Pick up the healing orbs and dps lightning buff orbs when they come out.. if you dont the mobs like to try to steal this.

For the elites just pop your frost ball and burn them down.. the first phase is very easy for a frost mage.

Phase 2:

I found this phase a bit confusing at first.. but once you get it ..it's very easy. Follow the NPC that is forging the weapon.. you can pretty much ignore the one at half health. The shas are casting lethargy so you want to get aggro on them so they don't slow the forger down. So just tab and ice lance.. tab and ice lance. Every couple of minutes.. the Forger is going to move to the next anvil.. the previous anvil is going to over heat.. when it's clickable .. click it.. you'll get a few seconds to stand in the healing beam that comes because it always spawns near the anvil that is over heated. After he moves to .. like the fifth anvil it's all over. No need to heal anything .. no need to dps the mobs really heavy.. just keep your barrier armor bubble up .. and wait it out..

Phase 3:

After the last anvil over heats.. you'll have a few seconds to eat or drink.. do so. The anvils in this stage can only be clicked once.. so use the ones furthest away from the sha first.. that's when he's not going to be doing much damage to you yet.. and he's not chasing you so I found it helpful for dps towards the end to use the ones furthest away and move in closer. So dps for awhile.. then after he casts shadow blast.. which you MUST MOVE OUT OF before it lands.. move toward the anvil furthest away .. he will be casting insanity shortly later and you want to be ready to hit it. Then it's just rinse and repeat:

1. BURN BOSS
2. Step out of shadow blast
3. Avoid the meteor storm .. it's easy if you have decent graphics.. just walk around the room avoiding the marks on the floor.
4. Hit an anvil to avoid insanity.

He will chase you 2 - 3 times when the celestial goes banished to get heals.. just blink and run from him .. after a few rounds of this .. he's dps'd down far enough for the lance to spawn.. grab it and hit him with it.. GG

Phase 4
Take the spear thingy out to the big dragon and hit him with it.. then run like hell. I had a little trouble with this.. but luckily a hunter was also doing it.. so we grouped and he helped kite the big guy.. you just have to stay away from the add until the thing is finished forging.

This no longer holds the terror, that it used to. My first toon took 25-30 tries. My latest one, a 536 gemmed/enchanted holydin got it first go with ease. I'd say if you're over 530 or maybe even 525 and have good gear, it'll be routine.

Arcane mage without a pet.

I was unable to do the speed version everyone is talking about.
Survival > DPS.

First thing I did was mark each forge using the world markers, I alternated them as there are seven forges and only five world markers. This allowed me to some what keep track of the forges I had already used. Also remember you can hover over a forge to see if has been used. Use some of your time just after he has chased you to position you self next to one in preparation for the next Insanity.

If you are a mage use Cauterize (and pop ice block) as it will at least give you 10 percent more health.

The most important thing you can do is stay calm. Second most important thing is pay attention to the cast bar and move out of the way and INTERRUPT Insanity, *BEFORE* it gets it off, this not only saves your health but the npc tanks health as well.

I did this well over twenty times and spent about 700-800 gold on it. If it had been any earlier in the quest chain and I had not given him the 40 trillium and the lure of getting some great gear from Ordos, I may have given up.

So I don't know about anyone else or if this has happened to anyone else. I am a feral dps druid in ilevel 526 gear and did this quest...and let me tell you, when I got to the anvils, I clicked ALL them bad boys as fast as I could. And here's what happend. The boss DIED. I never hit him once. I didn't even get to see the spear. I click ALL the anvils and he DIED. So, I suggest going for only 6 and if he still has too much health then click that last anvil. Just some friendly advice. :)

If you are doing this quest just remember ONE thing...LUCK is a major factor! I base this on the number of times I had to do this quest and the mechanics thrown at me during each different attempt to complete it. Also, if you read through the mass of comments on this page, you can see that everyone's experience doing it was different, even though they went in with the same class/specs.

The first two stages of this fight are really nothing. You heal the guys and heal yourself until the fight is over. For the most part it's a standard tank and spank. However, the LAST stage is the one that makes everyone want to kill themselves.

I went in as a Disc Priest. Everyone knows Disc Priests heal through Atonement, a passive that heals everyone around the caster while they are killing off the NPC with rotations of Penance, Holy Fire and Smite. My first few attempts were so pathetic, I actually switched my spec to Holy because I wondered if I wasn't a "pure" enough healing spec for the mechanics to focus on me healing as opposed to making the Sha die faster. Holy was even worse. Holy Word: Sanctuary and the Lightwell did absolutely nothing to heal the Celestial Defender.

The main problem in trying to complete the task was constantly being bombarded by some type of Sha spell. For someone with only one deep healing spell I can use while moving, having to constantly be on the run, whether it's to avoid damage or smack an anvil, this is a challenge. I analyzed each run after failing and realized the amount of time I was given to stand still and heal myself was very different between attempts (don't bother using straight healing spells on The Celestial Defender as Disc Priest - only the Atonement healing seemed to make any noticeable difference). On some I had a few seconds to cast some channeled healing spells, on others I had no time at all. I always kept up Holy Word: Shield and Renew and I threw in Spirit Shell now and then.

The only way I was able to complete the quest was a lucky mechanics break. I actually had time to stand and damage/heal, which also allowed me to be more proactive about Insanity. I actually had time (with feather increased movement speed) to get one anvil at a time BEFORE Insanity proc'd and they lasted throughout the entire fight. (BTW, the whole blowing off all the anvils at the start of a fight didn't EVEN bring the Sha down to 60% health - complete waste of my time YMMV.) The lance did not appear/become available for use until the very end of the fight, where a golden light appeared over by the Celestial Defender with the lance in it. Clicking on it was a bit of the pain as the Sha parts were so close to it, it kept picking up the Sha instead of giving me the lance. In my case, the most healing done to the Celestial Defender seemed to be by Atonement as opposed to any other healing spell I used.

NOTE: If you have a Traveler's Mammoth (the one with the repair guy on it), place yourself in the right corner of the right door hinges when you die and go as far into it as possible. When you actually reappear again click on your Mammoth icon and scooch back only as far as you need to make the Mammoth appear without starting up the Sha again. Make repairs, eat, whatever. There were 3 or 4 times after I died that my spirit went right through the doors and I reappeared on the wrong side of the door. If you go away from the forge doors it will at some point pop you back in.

iLvl 532 ret paladin. I died the first time because I didn't hit an anvil while he was casting insanity. I completed it the second time. The only buff I had was Kings and Seal of Insight.
I think the strategy is to try and get the Sha close to one of the free anvils when the defender is almost dying and the Sha comes at you.
If you are close to the anvil, it makes it easier to hit it when he starts casting insanity.
I found this real easy. I had to heal a few times, but aside from a little running around for the comet storm and hitting the anvils when he is casting insanity, the rest seemed easy.
The anvils are designed to block his insanity spell, not for damage.
Keeping that in mind, it's just a dps fight. You need to get him down to about 5% (the fight stops then) before the anvils run out, and you are no longer able to block his insanity spells (you=dead).

Had a terrible day today with lag (up to 9000ms thanks to the darn server merges) and frame rate issues due to server instability and my computer losing its mind for no apparent reason. Finally got stuff settled a little bit, and was so happy to be able to advance the legendary quest line after spending weeks getting the darn secrets.

Happily, I got to finally do this scenario ... that lasted for about 10 attempts. Now I want to slit my wrists. Worst freaking design ever! I could deal with the mechanics and persevere into victory whilst using many potions, bandaids, flasks, and really whatever else I can. What I can't deal with, is being resurrected into combat with no time to make any more drums or potions or to change a pet or talent without losing half of my health bar. Worse still, if I need to get out of this fight for some reason (getting a diff pet from stables for example) I have to redo the whole damn scenario. Why on god's green earth, would you have individual scenarios for the Isle of Thunder in general that allow you to do one boss, leave, q for the next, etc. but make this a long drawn out crapshoot?

I appreciate that it's supposed to be tough since it's legendary, but there's challenging and there's stupid.

What my core point is (even though it's not clear from the rantings that unavoidably is happening ... lol) is that before you start this thing, make sure that you have the pets you need, the talents you need, the glyphs you need, any potions or flasks, and any bandaids/healthstones/bandadges you can carry. And a repair bot is probably handy too.

I'm still working on this one. I have slow reflexes, so I know it's going to be a struggle. I got really discouraged by the monstrous huge armor bill I was left with when my weapon went to 0% and I zoned out to repair.

I decided the NPCs are there to be used. When I lose control of the room when the blacksmith is out, I can just run my character to the exit door and feign death. Then the two NPCs die, Wrathion gets disgusted, and I can repair and try again. There's no point in watching the tank NPC go down to just about no health and then have the big sha come out. I figure eventually I will learn how to move around the room and get the anvils going and then maybe get that last bit down.

For those of you having trouble with the final phase still, after a few deaths I managed to tweak an already mentioned strategy.

This might only be useful to the DPS taking this on, not the healers.

Begin the fight as normal, don't pop your cooldowns, get some dots on him, whatever. When he begins to cast insanity for the first time, break it with an anvil and then run around and click all of the remaining anvils as fast as you can, then pop your cooldowns and unleash everything you have onto him.

From then, I was able to get the lance and then throw it at the sha to finish him.

Okay it took me forever to do this. I did all the whining, kicking and screaming everyone else has so let me share what I learned.
I could not do this as arcane. There is too much movement and I rarely got off a cast. I respeced to frost solely for this.
I took Incanter's Ward as a talent and glyphed for evocation. The extra health from evo is a huge difference.
Take lots of speed potion with you and use it along with raid buffs and food of course.
The comment from another player that helped me most was...don't panic.
Until I changed my mindset from "kill him before he kills me" to "stay alive until I kill him" it was impossible.
Stay out of the bad stuff, click the anvils on insanity, run when the celestial tank is not tanking and keep the mindset that all you have to do is stay alive and you will get him down eventually.
Dot...dot...dot.....keep him dotted all the time while you are running and moving.
When you die you can repair with a mammoth or yak...go to the right corner of the doors and you can mount and repair.
Every run is not created equal. The mechanics seemed to change some for me from run to run....in other words sometimes it was harder than others....sometimes I didn't have time to repair and eat after I died because I was immediately back in combat. Sometimes there seemed to be more bad stuff that landed right where I was. Sometimes the number and timing of adds was different in the second phase. There is nothing you can do about those things...take what it gives you and if you have bad luck...it will change.
If you are having a hard time with this don't despair...there are plenty of others that have agonized over this one too. Keep working on your gear and spec...I was at 540 before I had the right combination of everything to do it.

I raid as a Holy Pally and have a crappy Ret set of gear
So I tried this 7 times as ret and I was getting killed half way through the fight.
So I switched to Holy.
I was able to do it on the first try.
I didn't dps. I healed the npc, stayed out of the stuff on the floor, and used the anvil when the time came.
It seems to me the fight is not about DPS, its about staying alive.
Anyways, if your primarily a healer, do it as a healer.

It seems that all these failsafe kiting/bugging methods are outdated and need to be downvoted in this patch. They do not work, despite all the hoopla under them. Nalak does not evade and give you a free boss kill. Think about it: Why would Blizz let a known bug exist, wherein you trick out a boss and steal the benefit of what should be a 10 man raid?

Your objective: Lance Nalak, target the Essence that spawns in the sky, and the Essence must live longer than Nalak. If Nalak bugs and disappears, you win. If you kill Nalak and the Essence still lives, you win. Also, if you kite the Essence separately (run South) and have Nalak tanked in the Shado Pan room to the North, Nalak despawns and you win.

Now that you know what you're SUPPOSED to do, here's what I did.

1. Lance Nalak from the North to South.
2. create and use a macro: /target Essence (you should see tan eyes over your character and a kite string-like line to the Essence)
3. run North into the little Shado Pan room with 4 guards.
4. let the Shado Pan engage Nalak
5. keep making sure you are /target Essence and run SOUTH while Nalak is busy.

If you separate the Essence from Nalak, you MAY be able to get the quest complete. IF NOT, ask for assistance. All it takes is one. Here's how:

I received the help of a DK who was interested in helping me, if not to get the Nalak kill, just to see what the legendary quest was about. He grabbed Nalak and kited into the Shado Pan room. I was running South with Essence following me. Nalak was doing dmg and killing in that room. He killed a couple guards and the DK. When everyone died, I believe Nalak just reset. But by then, the Quest Complete came up on my quest tracker.

use the anvil only to interupt insanity ONLY then dps dps avoid all other dmg
if you can manage all other dmg to you then this quest is piece of cake

Ok, So my Destruction Warlock has ilvl 538 gear, an Insanity Crystal (+500 all stats) and a food buff (+200 Mastery). The first 3 stages are fairly simple - stay away from the Mogu (and the Prince) and blast away. Can't remember stage 4 but that was quite quick.

My problems begin at Stage 5, I can wipe the little Sha monsters and dps the bigger ones but I can't keep the Celestial Blacksmith alive. I've tried healing him with bandages but the Sha monsters keep interrupting the process. I've used my Voidwalker to both tank and try to protect him (The Blacksmith) but they always kill him before I get to the 6th anvil. So far I've spent about 200 gold and used every buff and ability I can get my hands on, still not even close.

How do I keep this looney toon alive?

I really want the cape having missed the staff. I'm open to any advice and will try almost any sensible tactic short of bribery (Sha does not need gold).

My Logitech G13 Gaming Keyboard reassigns all keys during the encounter. This is the only time the keyboard has failed. Ending the encounter returns the key assignments to normal. With 18 functions assigned to the Logitech, it may be impossible to complete this quest without completely changing to another gaming paradigm? Any ideas why this encounter and only this encounter discombobulates the keyboard?

After about 20 attempts on the Sha i tried running clockwise clicking the anvils. Since i couldnt get any Darkwater i had to try with a swiftness potion. To my surprise i succeeded on the 3rd attempt.

Ok, feral druid, about 520, tried last night until armor started turning yellow/red and gave up. Read up, came back tonight, tried the run-really-fast-and-click-everything method, and clearly, I am not adept enough at clicking the anvils while running really fast, because all I got was death.

Respecced as Guardian, and did it after 4 tries, the old fashioned way (beat him to death). Got all the talents I could that gave passive healing or boost to healing (Ysera's Gift, Dream of Cenarius) and kept drawing aggro, healing, and dodging the sha pools on the ground. When the lance became active, didn't realize that clicking on it didn't kill him, just made it available for me to use to kill him, so didn't use the lance, just kept beating on him until he died. Ended with no anvils to spare, so just barely made it.

The downside was that my DPS in the stage with the blacksmith was really crappy, so got overwhelmed a few times, and both the BS and the defender despawned those times. Changed to Resto and healed the BS all the way through, which got me through that phase, and changed to Guardian for the Amalgamation (after the first of the 4 deaths).

Bottomline, if there are people still out there complaining about Welfare Legendaries, trust me, this is definitely not Welfare!

ok so there was a little bit of rage for me with this- I'd seen the guides to pop all the anvils when you get into the room- tried it, but found the last anvil was kinda needed (for me anyway) so i was dying to the insanity charge :(
adopting the "kill all the anvils quick" guide i waited for the first pop of insanity hit the first anvil to intrupt- hit the next 3 and left the very last one active incase another round of insanity popped (which in my case it did) and shortly after the lance dropped down- clicky special action button- dead sha! woop :D... now where is the damn repair vendor round here Good luck guys and girls!

Was actually much easier on my resto druid than others had mentioned here for a healer. ILv is 548 and it did need about 39k HPS which may have been the issue with the others I read.

I kept the guardian and defender to full health as much as possible since the dispel from the anvils cost them about 50% of their health. Protecting myself was easy since the defender comes back quickly if his health is high so very little running around and kiting.

One thing to note which seems to be an issue with many was running out of anvils. Since it sort of spams you on the alerts, it can get confusing so I just typed a letter into local chat to mark after each one, that way I knew if I had done it or not and didn't waste any anvil charges.

Just did this as a paladin with ret/prot combo.

So I'm mainly a ret. I go into this thinking "yeah, no big deal, all good" because I was around 543 and could solo a lot. Mistake.

I burned through my ret gear until it was all reds. Switched to prot spec, which had a terrible gear score. Tried and tried to run around.

THEN I ACTUALLY DID READING UP ON IT.

I went through my basic rotation until he started on the first Insanity. Hit one anvil, then popped Speed of Light and ran through all of the other ones. Boom, the lance comes down and I actually kill the stupid thing.

So, read up on it, then try what I did if you're a pally. If you're reading this you obviously have step 1 covered!

This is pretty easy. You'll probably die first time so just use this strat once you rez...

Run to the anvils and click them as fast as you can (run in a circle). The speed at which you click them determines how much damage he takes. Once you've clicked them all, start your zerg. Watch for the Lightning Lance to descend down and when ready, click it. This will give you a button on your screen. Target the sha and click the button to finish him off. Easy win.

541 ilevel WW monk here. I completed this on the first try without even reading about the encounter. I don't know if I was simply overgeared but it was a piece of cake.

The hardest part was finding Wrathion... Don't forget that you have to complete the other Solo scenarios before you can actually find him. I looked for him for a long time before realizing I hadn't done any of them.

And yeah, I know with my gear I should be able to do this but I can't, I just can't kill the mobs fast enough. Maybe I can do this on my healer I hope but I am done. Thanks Blizz for ruining the game for me.

I had such trouble with this to begin with. First phase, I did multiple times, then I googled it and found out that I should only attack the mobs that attack me. Then I got through phase one easily. Phase two, I did easily first time round without fully knowing exactly what I was supposed to be doing. I just did as much DPS as possible. For the third phase, the real trouble begins. I died multiple times until my gear was broken. I then quit the solo instance, went back to Orgrimmar, went to the AH, purchased a Darkwater Potion, then went back into the instance, fought my way to Phase 3, activated the Darkwater Potion, ran around activating the anvils as quickly as possible, and the Sha Boss was dead without me even attacking him. I didn't think this solution would work, but it did!

After a few attempts and the blacksmith dying on the 5th stage as a 528il Destruction Lock I just cast rain of fire ontop of the blacksmith drawing all aggro on the sha attacking. Once blacksmith was done with each anvil I clicked it and followed to the next anvil and did the same thing again. Had my void out to help with aggro.

I had to say something only because this is so wrong that people are making this out as such a hard fight. The scare factor is much worse than the actual fight. Here is the easy strat for probably any dps class, surely for my mage though. I was flasked and fooded, cheap food, mastery milk. I ran in and hit only 1 anvil because you might need the others. That insanity goes off pretty often and clicking an anvil is how you stop it. Non of his spells can be interrupted. I had speed pots on me in case my blink was down. He never caught me so I cannot say if he hits hard.

Basically what happens is this. He will beat on the defender then he will occasionally cast shadow some!@#$ at you, just move as he is casting about 5 feet away, no biggie. He will cast meteor, stay moving. It won't hit you either. When he cast Insanity get to an active anvil and click it, if he has already gotten through the cast phase and is channeling, no big deal either. It will still interrupt it. Just get to the anvil and click as quickly as you can. I tried to stay near an active anvil. It is a long fight. If the defender dies, don't panic just stay away from the sha. The defender will respawn very soon.

It was one of the easiest fights ever once I stopped freaking out over it and realized it was just the same spells, actions over and over for about 7 minutes, I am guessing, maybe 4 maybe 5. You got this! Peace! Xippie Mage Illidan, Horde and damn Proud of it!

This is a very frustrating scenario. The first 4 parts are pretty easy. Part 5, you just have to work your way around with the blacksmith and discharge the forge to kill the bigger Shas.

The 6th part is actually in my opinion quite difficult. I couldn't do it the usual way but maybe you can.

First, the defender is pretty low DPS but DPS increases with increasing health. Lay on Hands was very helpful.

You only can pull the Sha when the defender is banished so take advantage of that to move him around to a closer anvil.

Only use anvils for insanity. Don't bother for the other spells Move away. Look from above if you have trouble with the stuff falling down all around you.

Prepare to die a lot. Use Tundra Mammoth or Jeeves to repair by the door where u rez. Don't go thru the door though or you have to do the whole thing again!

The lance comes out when the Sha is < 20% health and is where Wrathion is so plan to circle around and end up close with the last anvil.

If you are pulling your hair out in frustration, after you rez, buff and repair by the door:

Use Lay on Hands or heal the defender

When the Sha spawns target him

Take a Blackwater speed potion and go around clicking anvils like mad. When u get back to the Sha, burn all your cool downs and bring him down until the lance spawns.

Click on the lance and u are done. Be prepared to do this a couple of times until you get the hang of it.

You then have to do Nalak. Not kill just buff the lance.

Again you need speed. Get to the stairs near the ToT entrance. Use the lance and run up the stairs Use your pets or timeless isle ghosts to try to taunt him until the Shado Pan engage him at the entrance. Don't hit him yourself.

Use healing to stay alive until the lance takes. You will see a ghost type spawn that will follow you.

Hope at that point you are done. I had two scenarios to complete before I could turn in the quest. Either way you do it, good luck

the ez-pz way to do this is...
I am presuming you are not a bubble boy or have the army of darkness to help dps...
don't worry about healing potions, just your agi, int, whatever 1k and 4k+ one you use.
if you die, simply release then you will get rez'd at the start of it again, SHA will be right down the stairs forming up and within 5 sec the fight starts all over. All your cooldowns reset on death, if I saw it right.
the defender will not die, it will go away to heal up some but it will be back.
the lightning spear will appear just behind the sha's starting position at the 20% point.
all but 1 of the 8? anvils are needed doing it this way.
when the insanity warning comes up, only click on 1 anvil at a time and I suggest taking the rear side ones 1st.
nothing else will interrupt it.

1.so... presuming you died already, rez, do your quick buffs and run down the steps, to the back side so you can click on one fast when needed, if ranged
but if melee, go counter clockwise with the anvil choices so the spear will be at your 3 oclock when facing the entry door.

2. you will see the green healing pillar light come up now and then.. don't run to it immediately as an aoe black bubbles is thrown at you a few sec later. Pillar does about 35k per sec healing on you.

3, the fight moves on, 2 anvils should have been needed by now, and the shyte from the sky falls on to your position for about 10 sec.. run around then go back to dps.

4. defender gets a coffee break and sha comes after you. just run around avoiding the falling shyte.
this happened 2x for me.

5. after 5-6 anvil interrupts, and you can do combat, pop your 4k boost flask and burn sha down, that should get you to the 20%, take a few steps back, click on the thin orange spear overhead, and then the icon in the lower center of your screen to throw it.

boom! game over man game over!

next you get to do Nalak.. but that's for another time and get 2 helpers to keep you alive.

How do I unlock the Thunder Forge quest? I am level 90, Blacksmithing 600, Exalted with the Black Prince, but all I can get from him is "Strength of Ones Foes" which requires collecting piles of sigils from raids. I hate raids!

Am I missing something or am I stuck until I do some hellish number of raids?

I'am trying to do this as a prot. warrior and it really sucks. The first part outside is not a problem, but in the forge, the blacksmith dies all the time because of the adds kill him, and I can't kill them fast enough. Any of you that may have hints on doing this so I can move forward in the questline and get my cloak....thanks in advance ;o)

As a 539 Assasination Rogue:
Easy fight, downed on first attemt.

Used Burst of Speed as talent to get away from him and to click the anvils. Used Feint a lot, also had Recupeate going trough the whole fight.

Buffs: Flask of Spring Blossoms and Pandaran Treasure Noodle Soup.

Remember to click anvils both in part one to kill sha's and in part two to interupt Insanity.

As a player with a physical disability that also affects my hands, I can tell you that the final boss of this quest can be miserably hard (bordering on insanely unfair) IF you are unprepared for what awaits you. The best advice that I can give ANYONE is: Don't give up! No retreat, no surrender. After wiping 10+ times, and having to restart the entire scenario over several times because I lack a repair droid or mount, I understand the need to throw your keyboard and strangle Blizz devs with your bare hands, but if I can do this quest, anyone can! After you calm down, here is practical advice for hunters:

1. If you can do the gimmicky thing of popping a Darkwater potion and run around clicking all the anvils and finishing off the boss, good for you. I wish you the best of luck and bragging rights, more power to you. But for the rest of us:

2. Those that say this quest is more about staying alive than it is about DPS are absolutely right.

3. Use a tanking pet and Spirit Bond...this will help for two reasons: a tanking pet will help hold aggro from both you, and friendly NPC's. 2. Spirit Bond is obvious. I debated whether to use a turtle, or a SB, but since I have Deathmaw, who has a speed of 1.45 and Furious Howl that gives a 5% crit boost, I respec'ed him on the fly as a tank, and voila! The final choice is up to you.

4. Save your anvils for Insanity!

5. I disagree with those who say to save your cooldowns. Saving them only really helps with the anvil trick. Pop them all and DPS the sha'tar out of him! I have all of mine in a burst macro, and if you're looking for a place to burn G91 Landshark, go for it!

6. For his other spells, run...put distance between you and him, being careful not to run out of max range and waste dps, or get too far from an anvil. In my case he popped 3 insanity spells. Remember that NPC's cannot block attacks from the rear.

7. Buff up, treat it like any other raid boss.

8. Finally, keep calm, be patient, and be prepared for a "long" fight with a slow but steady burn down, after all, we are talking about a boss with 31 Million HP. In the end, I didn't even use the lance, just dps all the way to zero.

Just did this yesterday as a iLvl 512 Disc Priest.

It's a boring encounter but not that hard, some things to keep in mind in Phase 3:

First and foremost: keep the defender dispelled all the time, and remember you can dispell the banish.
You should be able to heal yourself and the defender using your regular healing rotation (Pw:S + atonement + penance). That said, I needed to use Desperate Prayer once.
You can't neither heal or absorb the damage caused by Insanity, so always try to keep close to a charged anvil.
Simply Pw:S the defender and run during Meteor Storm, the key during this phase is to avoid damage.

I'd recommend creating a mouseover macro for dispelling the Defender, but by now you already should have one.

I have tried over and over on my resto druid. I only use the anvils when he does his aoe like I'm supposed to and at the end he does one more aoe and I have no more anvils left so I die every time. What am I doing wrong?

The single most annoying part of the final fight is that you can't do it without leaving the game to study tactics. The in-game "advice" was good enough to get to the sha boss, but then became a recipe for suicide and a full set of "red" gear. The successful strategies discussed on this thread are so far removed from what the internals of the game itself suggest that I think this may represent the worst piece of game design I have ever seen in WoW.

Just got this done on my ilvl 545 frost DK. In the third phase, the sha boss fight, the anvil trick worked, I left the last anvil activated though. First run, i downed the speed potion, activated all the anvils, and wiped. Didn't activate them fast enough. I rez'd, ran around activated all the anvils except one, wiped 3 more times till I got it. Last time I went into Unholy presence, minor run speed/haste buff, still in frost spec, activated all the anvils except the last quicker, had sha down to 45% health or so. Pulled army of the dead, and my minion, death and decay, outbreak (again) had him down to around 25% when I had to hit the last anvil to dispell insanity. Then, I just kept hittin him with Obliterates and Frost Strikes, avoided Meteor storm, lance dropped, killed him. Did it in Prideful Pvp gear, was at 1/8th health when he dropped.

Tricky, but do-able.

For those who just turned level 90 not long ago like me, never done any quest in the isle because nobody goes there any more since 5.4 came out. Get the quest, go meet Wrathion but then don't see where the heck he is.

I just pick up the quest. when i get to the place where Wrathion asked to meet. I see the white chat bubble icon on the minimap but i dont see him. then i found out you have to complete all the scenario in the isle. then you will see the little drake by the stairs.

OK! So I have read in here a lot of stuff that people can't find how to do this and neither could I. I went up to the gate and there was nothing there. I did my bout of back to shrine then to the veiled scar then thunder isle... OMG! for 2 hours now trying and asking for help. Well here is the hint that I was looking for that no one mentioned until now! If you jump down and go toward the yellow number on your map (if you track your quests) thats front gate and you won't find jack! You want to continue going up the stars and into this big room where you will come to a crossroad so to speak. On the right hand side you will see a tower like mechanism with a orbital sphere on the top and the Master of the Forge standing near it. Turn left at that crossroad and then at the bottom of the stairs will be Wriathon in the form of a whelpling with a chat bubble. Talk to him to start the quests scenarios.

Im not sure who said it first, but on the final stage I tried running around fast clicking all the anvils except one than popping all cds and burning the sha amalgamation. I than clicked the last anvil when he casts his first instanity, this worked for me on my 525 ret pally on my first attempt after dying probably 10 times trying other ways.

Completed this as a 540 resto druid.

Keep your hots up on defender as much as you can and your effo, but try and stand in it with him. A word of caution, meteors will kill you even with full hots on yourself AND standing in the beam. Heart of the wild is a must for this. You will need to use it twice during this fight, at the very beginning and end. Always keep moonfire up and spam wrath whenever meteor is not active.

I didnt use them, but glyph of regrowth and glyph of bloom would have been very useful for this fight.

It will be a close fight for sure either way.

Use the forges to stun him 1 millisecond after the starts cast insanity. u will have 1 forge for each insanity.

its so freaking easy, i did it on my 2nd try after i realize the forge buff also stuns him and interrupts the insanity.

VERY easy as a 540 elem shaman. Ghost wolf, run in a circle clicking all the charged forges (leave one charged for the last Insanity interrupt), lust (heroism) + ascendance, and he was dead in about 10 seconds. Thanks to other users for posting this tip...it saved me from Insanity, in-game and in real life!

Allright, so let me throw in my two cents.
As it turns out, I was able to beat this fight as a prot warrior but not as an arms warrior. This fight is more about survivability than it is about dps. You need to be able to take quite a beating to last through this ordeal.

Just completed this as a ilvl 526 disc priest. Only took me two tries. For others who are trying to complete this as a healer the comments here to do it as a healer and not try to really dps are spot on. I used my normal spells (penance, pw solace, smite), kept a shield and renew on myself, and kept up sw pain on the sha as much as possible, ran away and avoided shadow crash instead of trying to fight when the defender was banished, and got him to the point where I could throw the lance just as I ran out of anvils to click.

Now on to Nalak and then the abysmal drop rate of the runestones. Yay....

Ok, here's an easy to understand guide.

1. When you get to the actual forge, with the blacksmith, you can use forges. Don't worry about saving them at this point (I did, because I didn't know they would be recharged for the last encounter, d'oh!).

2. The actual encounter with the amalgamation is much easier than it looks.

Some key points:
A) Start from the BACK of the forge. The first 2 insanities are early on, and it's better and easier to interrupt them using the two forges in the back, farthest from the Sha.

B) When there is a gray, sha-esque "rain" happening, run around, and do your best to avoid it at all costs. Doing DPS at this stage is pointless. Always stay close to a charged anvil, because the Sha will do an insanity during the gray rain part.

C) Pet classes, and instant attacks have it easy. Be sure to either Spirit Bond (hunter) or Soul Link (warlock). This will make the encounter much more easier.

D) Do not worry about the amount of anvils needed. If you concentrate with survival, you should have more than 2 anvils charged at the end of this battle. Yes, the boss has 31Mil HP, but it's very doable. Just focus on survivability.

Good luck! I cleared it with 2 wipes (I didn't click forges on time due to running too far) with a 520 lock, and I'm really not that skilled.

Let me add my comment to those many others that figured this out. This is after many wipes trying to use anvils one at a time:
1. Get Darkwater Potions (Get five or more. It may take you a while to be quick enough.)
2. When fight starts, RUN past Sha and click on SIX of the SEVEN anvils. YOU MUST BE AS FAST A POSSIBLE doing this for it to work. If you miss one, keep going and save that one for the last. That's what I did. Fast Fast Fast here.
3. DPS or Heal defender until the last Insanity. Click on the anvil you saved. At this point he should be down to nearly 20%.
4. Click on sword

Just completed the scenario as a resto shaman with 552 item level. After reading all the comments here I thought it was going to be hard but it was actually really easy.
I just kept the Celestial Defender on full health with Earth Shield on, tried to do some damage on the boss and used the anvils to interrupt Insanity. Didn't even use all the anvils.

I've been working on the final stage, the destruction of the Sha Amalgamation and have wiped so many time my name is engraved on the door. I'm a mistweaver with an item level of 531. I'm spec'd totally for healing and can't dos worth a darn. So any suggestions on how to do this battle would be greatly appreciated.

As of 15 Sept 2014, All you need to do is run around and blow all anvils (speed pot might be necessary, i used nitro boost), he will die instantly. Your Celestial Defender is worthless so don't even try to use him or care if he dies...

It is true about popping the anvils. As a rogue I engaged the Sha until he started his first insanity cast. hit the closest anvil, sprinted to the others and clicked as I ran by (there is no need to stop you can activate anvils while running). I made it back around, popped the last anvil and the Sha died. There was no need for me to even equip the spear!

So as a protection pally, I had no problem with this quest, in fact it was relatively easy,...until the final phase. There, because as a prot, I do very negligible damage output, my specialty is surviving, and I do it well, until you use that 7th and last anvil, and notice that the Sha is only at about 50%, it is at that moment you realize you are scewed. On a number of occasions, over a period of 3 hours or so, I made it all the way to the last anvil, doing everything right, but did I?

I'm a purist, and when possible I like to do things the right way, the way they are designed to do in game, but in this case I resorted to using the Speed of Light talent and clicking all the anvils at once. On my 1st attempt it worked...to well, the quest bugged, (I believe because I didn't give the Sha time to fully materialize) and I didn't get credit, so, I had to redo the entire quest,...again. On my 2nd attempt, I got hung up on an anvil and didn't get him down enough, I died, after respawning, I tried again, AFTER waiting for the Sha and Celestial Defender to engage, it worked and the Sha died on the click of the 7th anvil, I didn't even need to use the spear, so this quest is doable, for those without a 70% speed boost, get some Dark Water Potions, they should do the trick, use the inside of the anvils route and you should complete this final phase in about 5-7 secs without even needing the spear.

Here is my question and I wish I had tried it a few times before using the "cheat" method, which I don't think is a cheat. I noticed, as I was dieing many times over and over, that there are little sha's, presumably healing the larger Sha during the engagement. The anvils will do massive damage to the Sha and wipeout the smaller adds, but they will respawn and continue to heal the big Sha, which has 30 million hp. I don't believe this quest was designed for us as players to kill the big Sha, but rather, kill the smaller ones healing the big Sha and let the celestial defender and anvils do the majority of the damage to the big Sha. Challenging for sure, as there is a lot of damage going on, but survivable if you know your class, strengths and weaknesses. I would be interested in hearing if anyone has completed this quest simply by only klling the smaller healing adds and not focusing on the big one.

As of about 5 minutes ago the Darkwater Potion trick still works. I don't know if I needed it or not but after several wipes I used a stam food and flask buff before I gave this a try.

I hit all the anvils and in a few seconds the lance showed up.

I don't know what I hate more being forced into PVP or this scenario.

537 Destro Lock, tried the run fast and click on anvils method. Clearly am not built for dexterity, because it didn't work. Decided to just duke it out. Used the voidwalker pet, Drain Life on the Amalgamation and Embers to heal, and jumped around a lot to avoid the gently falling Sha Dew.

Died 5 times in all - first 3 times trying the "run really fast" method, and twice on the second method. On the 5th try, the lance had just appeared, but I was far away, couldn't run to it AND avoid the falling dew, and died. On the final try, made sure that I was near the spot where the lance would spawn by the time the Amalgamation got to about 7M health left, and was right there when it spawned. Got the lance. Then had a moment of panic, because I thought I had to click on something in my bag, so scrambled around looking for it, before remembering that the lance shows up as the special button. Clicked for win.

For warlocks or characters with ( almost) no healing capacities.
When in the room with wrathion and the celestial defender and the celestial blacksmith don't try to heal them, instead attract all enemies to you !, by casting rain of fire or any other spell or device that will attract enemies to your character. Every time the celestial blacksmith moves to the next anvill immediately cast rain of fire upon him. Keep healing yourself and finish of all those sha's . Don't touch the anvills in this round save them for the boss in the next round. It was easy for me to kill him even without the spear.After this you can finish the quest for the legendary cloack in a couple of days. Be sure to do it before 11 november, i think this quest will dissapear when wow comes with a new expansion.

After well over an hour of searching for help on how to complete this scenario, I finally just went by trial and error and managed to succeed as a Holy Paladin with 509 item level.

Stage One: Talk to Wrathion. This one's pretty self explanatory.

Stage Two: Just right-click on the nearby forge area to tip the material into the mold. Simple enough.

Stage Three:

VERY little was written about this part of the scenario except for a vague idea of what happens and that it's 'easy'. I actually had the most trouble during this part, so this is probably going to be the part with the most information.

Before the fight, make sure you're buffed up so you can heal more effectively, generate mana (if needed), and have good defensive strategies set up. Almost as if you're fighting in PvP, I suppose. I, as a holy paladin, set a Beacon of Light on myself to gain the effects of the 100% healing being sent to the beacon, so I would benefit from 200% of the healing I do.

First of all, when you start the fight, make sure the Shado-Pan who fight with you are all fully healed. I've read maybe two people mention that their health is connected to the damage they deal, and it seems to be true. If they are low on health, I would encourage you to leave the scenario and try it again from the beginning, ensuring that the Shado-Pan respawn with fresh health.

After speaking to Wrathion, I ran and huddled with the Shado-Pan until the Mogu were off of me, healing as necessary. Whenever a green orb would spawn, I'd use that for a heavy bit of healing (just walk over it) and when a little blue ball of electricity would pop up on the ground, I'd snag it (quickly; they despawn shortly after they appear) and run back to the huddle. These blue balls of electricity, as other users have mentioned, can be used to deal bonus damage by healing yourself and your allies. As a paladin, I found it very helpful to plop down a Light's Hammer, which deals damage to enemies and heals allies at the same time, anyway, meaning the healing adds to the damage.

There are two elite units that are more powerful than the rest of the other mogu you fight, one being the boss you need to kill to complete the scenario (but he won't spawn until the meter at the bottom of the screen is full). These guys have abilities that will hurt you if you stand too close, so stunning or slowing would help you get away from them enough to avoid damage.

Something no one mentioned in this thread (that I found): there are times where you will be chased by lightning. The lightning does A LOT of damage, and seems to be about as fast as you are. If you're getting hit by it already, try to use an ability to either run faster or defend yourself from damage. You'll get a debuff for it, showing how long you have to run away from oncoming lightning strikes. When it's gone, I'd suggest rejoining the Shado-Pan.

Stage Four: Simply meet Wrathion inside. He leads the way. HOWEVER, while he's outside, you may use mounts. If you have a repair mount, this is a great time to use it.

Stage Five:

Another pretty lengthy stage, but I found this one MUCH easier. When the fight starts, you'll be defending the celestial blacksmith with the help of a celestial defender. While the blacksmith prepares the anvils, your defender will be fighting sha.

I have a hard time killing things while I'm a holy paladin, so if you're the same way, I would suggest keeping the both of them alive with heals and using the anvil to deal some damage to the sha. However, it will also knock down your celestial defender's health, too, so be ready to heal him up again. After you use each anvil, start making your way towards the next one. If you're ever low on health and mana, you can use the green pillar of light for a heal.

Final Stage:

After you've gotten around the room, you have two options for defeating the giant sha. One is by taking it slowly and going through all of the fight mechanics. There is a lot of information about how to do this in other posts already. Use the anvils when prompted, avoid the black and white raining bits, keep your defender healed, and when the defender is banished, keep yourself alive while running between anvils. Again, each anvil will knock the defender to about half health.

Or, the method I used that proved to be quick and easy: use a speed buff (for me, it was Speed of Light but if you don't have one, there are potions such as the Swiftness Potion) and run around the room, using all of the anvils. When you get to the end of the anvils, stop in front of Wrathion and heal the defender a bit. Just above you will be a lance. Grab it quickly and use it right when you get it. If you do this quickly enough, you won't have to worry about the mechanics of the fight.

This quest will only exist for another month so I'm not sure this will be helpful, but just in case it is...I succeeded doing this today on a 542 Affliction Warlock.

I originally had a hard time with the multiple shas killing the blacksmith until I followed the other advice here regarding using AoE (in my case, Rain of Fire) on top of the blacksmith on each anvil he's working, and then activating the anvil as he walked away. When I ran out of mana, I would Life Tap my mana back and then Drain Life on one of the adds until I was comfortably healthy.

Once the big bad sha came up, I made sure I had a Soulstone ready and went to town on him with as many DoTs as I could keep up. I only used the anvils when he was casting Insanity, which was four times during the fight. Having my Voidlord out helped the guardian with tanking. I did miss one Insanity and died, but I was able to rez with my Soulstone and continue. Once the sha was low in health, the Lance appeared and I finished him off. Fortunately it only took the one try (with my one rez during) unlike the multiple sha stage which took me, oh, 7 or 8 tries.

Good luck to everyone else who, like me, procrastinated the Legendary for MoP until the final month. :-)

I have done this twice. Once on my ret pally and another time on my gf's ret pally. Not an easy quest regardless of what gear you're equipped with. It's a matter of patience and persistence. I found for my pally that going tank worked better. For my gf's pally going ret worked better.

If you're like me, 540+ and more the confident in your raiding abilities, you found these comments to be lacking at their very core in helpful information. 'Pop pots' 'Save the last Anvil' 'Try to let the defender kill him for you' Of course we're talking the end Boss Sha. Everything else is cake walk up to that point. Not I got the Lance by popping all the Anvils at once. Now one at a time wont do &*!@ for his damage, you have to pop them all within a few seconds of each other to see any real damage. Then you grind him down with the Celestial Defender. The lance shows up IN THE AIR behind Wrathion. I sat there looking stupid trying to find it, and right at the last second found it and the Sha Boss cast his wave attack and I was done. Now of course I'm a 540+ Unholy DK so I have a few advantages, but the principal of the fight is still the same.

After 6.0 when you are doing the thunder forge and have to kill the Sha, DO NOT start running and hit the anvils. The Sha will die but you will not get credit. I have done this 4 times on my hunter and every time the sha was dead but I didn't get the quest. Have to start all over from activate thunder forge and slay forge master Vul'kon.
I got it the 5th time by let the Sha start casting whatever the spell it is before I hit the first anvil.

On my DK, I dot him and put death and decay on the ground start hitting anvils and that WAS NOT enough to get credit for quest complete. So here goes the 2nd attempt.

Had this instance crash on me twice in a row. Both times the celestial blacksmith was on the 4th or 5th anvil, then it said "You have been disconnected", then I logged back in and found my guy in Shrine. Had to fly all the way back and start over..

On those two crashes I was running Demonology, then I switched to Destro on the third attempt and beat it without issue. Maybe all those wild imps were messing up their servers, who knows..

They must've nerfed it after the pre-WoD patch or something, because the whole scenario was a piece of cake. Yes, including the sha boss.
I did it as a frost mage with item level 543. I'd rather suggest doing it as arcane for arcane explosion which would make killing little sha beasts easier.
Anyway, I don't think I had to pop all the anvils after the sha boss appeared. I think I clicked 2 or 3 of them and just nuked the sha (time warp, icy veins, kafa press). I only used cold snap once when I somehow got hit by something and almost died, but I had a healthstone too (I got it in a raid I did earlier), so... I donn't know how this scenario could be problematic.
By the way, Both celestials were bandaged once during little sha beasts phase.

After dying to many times as a arms warrior i stopped playing this quest and even WoW for 4 months. Last satuday however i tryed again but as a furry warrior. I dont know if Blizzard made this quest easier, but after i died once, i went again for the big boss; i fought as i fought, i poped up the first anvil an fought again and when it was time to pop up the second anvil, i went and poped up all the remaining anvil WITHOUT any of those speed potions; after doing the last anvil the Sha was at low life allready and the lance appeared; shooted the guy an that was that!
I am 47 years old, a well known architect and i see no reason to lie what so ever....so not all here in this thread is a lie! trust me.
Forgot to mention: 542 item lvl...

You need to do To the Skies or To the Skies to be able to see Wrathion.
