The guardian you are supposed to kill for this quest is guarded by 4 priests. Each priest gives the guardian an ability, and killing a priest will prevent the guardian from absorbing that ability. The 4 abilities are:

Blessing of the Serpent - long cast time attack that deals lots of damage. 10s cast. Interruptible.
Blessing of the Hydra - Massive heal-over-time. Dispellable.
Blessing of the Hawk - summons gusts of winds that knock you around, dealing damage.
Blessing of the Direhorn - summons an earthquake that deals large damage on an area beneath the guardian. 3s cast. Not interruptible.

If you are soloing this, or if there is no one else around to help you, this comment is for you. All damage abilities are very dangerous, and ideally you should try to kill as many priests as you can before the guardian awakens. If you are a class that cannot dispel magic, the Hydra priest needs to die, otherwise you have no way of outdamaging the guardian's heal.

The serpent ability can be interrupted, and should pose no threat to any class that can interrupt. If not interrupted though, it can take off more than half your health. The hawk ability can kill you quickly if you get caught in its path, since it knocks you around into other tornadoes, and each tornado can whittle your health down pretty quickly. The direhorn ability is an earthquake beneath the guardian that is easily avoided, but if you are not careful and stand in it, it deals around 40,000 damage per second.

In terms of importance and threat level, I would rate the following order in which the priests need to die: Hydra, Hawk, Direhorn, Serpent (serpent before hawk if you are a class that cannot interrupt).

Just another horrible quest design, from the same people that brought you Cataclysm. "Design for the player, not for the class", indeed. If you can't dispell the Hydra buff, and you can't get the Hydra priest down in time, you'll never defeat this guy.

What a disappointment WoW questing has become.

Just 2 manned this guy. Killed the 2 adds Hydra and Hawk beforehand.

He was quite easy after failed attempts of not killing the Hydra priest.

I was able to solo this as a Mistweaver Monk with iLevel 483 healing gear. I killed the Hydra and Serpent priest first before the Boss woke. After that it was a matter of interrupts and staying out of his way. Granted, being able to heal myself was very helpful.

Here's a really easy way to do this for a BM Hunter, or for that matter, any other with a pet.
Kill Priest of Hydra and Hawk, in that order. (Don't wait too long after you kill Hydra to kill Hawk, or Tak'u will free.) Have growl on your pet. Put a shot on Tak'u and run to the wall at about 61.14 54.89. Run Stampede on your pet, spam Heal Pet, move in for a shot and a glaive toss, launch a couple traps, and move back to the wall. Rinse, repeat: just keep pounding Heal Pet. Your pet will take him down. I didn't take a single hit. I even made the mistake of waiting too long to kill Priest of Hawk.

This is another crappy one for non-healing melee to solo. Not worth the 5 valor points. Thanks for kill order tho'.

The mechanics have changed in at least several ways - each time I finished killing the second priest, the other two suddenly died as well and Tacky came right for me. So there were no priests and I thought that might be helpful.

Apparently not. My 493 Feral interrupted everything and seemed to be doing some damage if not a lot. Tacky has one trick where he lifts you off the ground (the wind priest is dead, remember) and all your abilities stop working for about 10 minutes (well, maybe 30 seconds) while he just whacks away at you. I never saw any tornadoes, earthquakes, vestal virgins or low-flying aircraft so I'm not sure what was going on. Lots of colorful visuals, I guess.

Both times I couldn't actually fight him with a melee character; all you do is float there and get pummeled. A cross between annoying and boring. I think this, like a lot of the Pandarian encounters, will turn out to be an RDPS-only fight. I'll return and stomp him with my uber Afflock and report back. Meanwhile, if you're not an RDPS, be prepared for a long and possibly unsuccessful fight, all for 5 Valor Points and some spare change that won't cover your repair bill.

The Zandalari worship the loa; animal spirits they often call to their aid. They may be trying to bind these spirits into a huge golem. The outcome would be disastrous.

I've sent ahead a scout to gather more information, but I think this task may require your expertise.
