The best way to get 40 kills is to look for Shek'zeer Swarmborn just south of the quest giver. They only have 118k HP and can easily be AOE'd down in large numbers. I recommend doing quest Wing Clip first. You will get some kills from it.

Also make sure you have the cleave guy enhancement. he will one shot them all

Unfortunatelly, since 5.1 Shek'zeer Swarmborn kills no longer count towards this quest. :(

I think 40 is just to many mobs to kill for a daily, even with sky-diving 1-hit-KO. 25-30 sounds fair and about right.

If you do the quest chains wrong, Kil'ruk may not fly you to the correct area for this quest. If that happens, you've got to run/fly over to the western/blue area yourself. If Kil'ruk flies you to the South/Southeast, you're not going to see any Shek'zeer anything and nothing you kill there will count for this quest.

40 kills is insane. This takes the same amount of time all the other dailies take combined. Blizzard, are you *!@#ting me?

As someone pointed out ^... go to all around 43:40 and kill the little guys...easy AoE's and fast getting to 40 kills.

The Sonic Divebomb spell used to kill them seems to glitch after you click it and then click the screen to look around. I'm currently stuck flying and the green circle won't appear for me to dive out.

The way I like to do this quest is, like others have suggested, to kill the Shek'zeer Swarmborn as they have lower HP than anything else (like 50%+ less than any other nearby Shek'zeer mantid). Additionally, I make sure I have the Klaxxi Enhancement Angel of Death activated, which you get from Kil'ruk the Wind-Reaver, as well as the Klaxxi Augmentation Master of Puppets from Kaz'tik the Manipulator, which allows you to mind control an enemy. I MC a Shek'zeer Bladesworn so it can Bladestorm (AOE) all the mobs. With these two buffs activated, I can complete the quest in 10 minutes or less, which is about how long the mind control lasts.

You can only have one Augmentation and one Enhancement active. I didn't notice that they both weren't Enhancements, so I was pleasantly surprised when I went to do this quest for the first time and found that I had both active and I could kill the mantids super quick.

My wife and I encountered a problem in which when you depress the button once and do not dive bomb you will then be unable to use it again. You will also have an icon at the top of the screen showing dive bomb.... We then just went ahead and killed them all ourselves.

Very amusing. Kil'ruk flew my rogue all over the place (once you've seen Hoboken, you don't need to see it again) for 5 minutes, 10 minutes and then at about 15 minutes it was clear that he was lost, muttering to himself all the time. The #1 button had no effect, so I hit the "Exit the Vehicle" button, forgetting that it was the Mage who has the parachute. OK, a nice repair bill, much time wasted finding my corpse in the middle of a batch of unfriendlies and then a repeat of the spider egg quest. What was the right procedure, kill Kil'ruk like one of the Timeless Albatrosses?

Who designed this quest again? The DMV? OK, so it's glitched. He did try to help me out with the spiders by flying down and then....doing no damage. What a swell guy. When I got back to Studio 54, he offered me another trip to the Terrace of Gurthan. Clearly he's been taking lessons from Griftah and must think my rogue just fell off a turnip truck.

Be prepared for anything, including Kil'ruk on Ambien. Your mileage may vary.
