This quest is much like the Firelands daily Between the Trees where you have to chase ghost stags except this time it is ghost cranes and they're much harder to see.

You can see the sheen of their body and neck and they move in set paths so you have to intercept or fly into them (which isn't hard, I caught up to them with 280% flying) to get credit.

While there is no easy way to get those, I found it convenient to prioritize this quest over the other two I got - so I would fly out and look for those spirits. When I found and caught one, I would "camp" that exact spot while gradually working towards the other quests I have.

Since this is the first time I do August Celestials dailies, I am not sure how viable this strategy will be in the future. We'll see.

(35.5, 78.1) seems to be one place where three paths to cross. Two of them cross exactly (or almost exactly) on this location, and there is a third one less than one unit away. The downside to "camping" this spot (or any spot like that) is that you might miss a spirit if you are fighting.(##RESPBREAK##)140##DELIM##ArgentSun##DELIM##

Some tips for doing this:

Turn shadows onto high and you can see them by their shadows.
If you're a hunter, turn track beasts on. They will be the only green dots on the island.
They tend to spawn in the same places, so if you find one you can usually just camp the spot.

Also, thankfully, all it takes is to land by them to receive credit for the quest. You don't have to click them or anything.

I found that by fighting the students at 33.9, 77 the crane spirits ran right through me and I had no problem completing this quest. I am sure there are other locations, I just stumbled on this one by blind luck.

just realized, i ONLY run thru spirits to get them, didn't fight a single mob during it's presence

quest is a bit lame lol
park yourself on a bird at precisely 33.6,78.4 facing the stairs of the pagoda/bandstand building and they will run right through you :) there were no students of chi near that position although someone could agro one and drag through your position also once one has ran through you it seemed to be about a minute and half before it spawned again ,good luck.

Use <control-z> to remove all you screen bars, etc. Makes it much easier to follow or spot them. And while waiting stay just above the ground while in flight mode so you have the faster traveling speed. Even with screen bars/text off, you 'll see a few red sparks with a trail to tell you if you successfully catch one.

This quest doesn't have to be tedious to do. If you have this daily and you have some spare time to kill or a chore to do, what I like to do is park my character at around 29.8, 76.8 (little dirt area on the South-west side of the island) and walk away or alt tab to do something else for a few minutes. It doesn't take very long at all and by the time I return, I've collected all three quest credits.

Tonight was my first time doing this quest on my hunter and I saw that "tracking beasts" these cranes showed up as moving green dots making it very easy to find them. Just a little heads up for those that can track beasts. Happy trails!

I actually have ignored this quest each time it comes up. Really! As I complete the other two dailies, the crane spirits tend to just run through you. I have never had to chase them down. Even if you are incredibly unlucky, you'll get at least one of the 3. ^_^

I was doing this quest and as i was going back to the questgiver i was just mounted and riding on the beach and 1 ran through me. Then i thought i should finish the quest and i just moved along the beach and another one ran throught me. Then i made a circle around the island to see more of em and i found the third one runnning from the beach up a hill into the center of the island and i chased after it. They are white and fast.

This quest is about finding and following 3 spectral cranes. They are somewhat difficult to see, so be sure to look closely. As others have suggested, be sure to have shadows enabled as it will make them a bit easier to see.

The best place I found to camp these is 35.23, 75.00, on the steps facing the paths.

To be clear: the crane spirits are invisible. They are ghosts. Don't do what I did, flying around before I finally realized they were on the ground. The hint to turn up your shadows on your graphics is a good one. I couldn't see them until I did.

Also, as another said: you don't have to fight them. Just fly through one and you get credit.

If you're having trouble finding the spirits in the forest, look on the beach. It seems only a certain number of spirits can spawn at one time, and if the forest is empty you'll probably find some on the beach areas on the outside of the island.

I flew around the forest and camped for 10 minutes only finding one, flew to the beach and found 2 within a minute.

Not that hard to find with hunter tracking, use undead, beast and hidden.

One crane runs around the Angkhal Pavilion. Another crane runs along the path just East of the pavilion. There is some light ad traffc. I park at coords 33.1 69.6 and can see both cranes when they run by.

I found waiting at 30.2, 77.1 is a good place. The crane runs right past you and you can safely just sit there and go afk as nothing else goes near to this area (and it's right next to a feather you may need to collect also)

Sometimes it's also easier to see them when you're mounted. When you spot one running you can fly to catch up with it (310% fight speed) and get them that way. I found it was faster that way.

The cranes you need to find for the quest have changed at some point, as they are now solid white, and not transparent at all. It's so much easier to spot them now! The cranes hanging around the island not part of the quest are brown, so very easy to tell what you need to chase from a distance.

Looks like they're changed back to being mostly transparent.

No need to look for any shadows. Here's a screenshot of what you will need to chase down and you can see it very well. It is a white bird with yellow light-like thing on it's head. They are often running around quite fast and they are the spirits of the crane.
