The new Winterspring Frostsaber quest, which is now very similar to the Horde questline for the Venomhide Raptor.

First you do the quest: Get Them While They're Young which will give you your very own Winterspring Cub!

Each day you will get dailies from the Winterspring Cub which in turn give you: Winterspring Cub Whiskers.

Do 20 dailies for 20 whiskers (and collect 20 runecloth, 20 rugged leather, and 70g 60s), and you will have your very own Winterspring Frostsaber mount!

Dailies are quests that are performed in the course of one day and able to be repeated the next day. You will need to repeat these quests each day until you successfully obtain all the Winterspring Cub Whiskers that are needed to finish the overall quest and obtain the Winterspring Frostsaber mount that's provided as a reward.

Just got my mount without completing this quest.

I've been grinding the rep on and off for about a year so was midway through revered when I started doing the new cub dailies and getting rep for each one completed.

When I got to exalted, I was able to buy the mount directly from Rivern Frostwind for 80 gold without needing to turn in the whiskers, leather and cloth.

Feat of strength achieved!

Now, do I complete the quest anyway for cub's first toy?

One of the cutest surprises about doing the dalies is that the cub grows over time. The dailies themselves are neat, so even if you have the mount already, it might be fun to complete them.

Sorry if this has already been posted about. I looked but didn't really see anything about it.

This isn't a daily daily. It can't be. Perhaps a 12 hour cooldown? I did it last night at 11pm, waited for server to reset at midnight and did it again.

Edit: Just came on @ 5pm, and since I was parked in Winterspring and cat was still out, I noticed he had another blue quest available.

Edit 2: Hmm... timer has to be 2-3 hours. I just did this about 12:30 - 1 am, then popped over to get something on a toon parked at WS at around 3:30 am.

I originally assumed it was a daily as well. However upon turning it in, a new one popped up from the cub. Coincidentally, it had just struck a new hour too.

I went and did my thing, came back in an hour -- new daily. So naturally I assume it's an hour long thing going on here.

Another hour, a new quest again. But then it all stopped -- it's been three hours now and no quest.

I'm not sure what to make of this timer.

1:58 AM (approximately) I did the first daily
2:00 AM - new daily pops
3:00 AM - new daily
6:00 AM - no daily since 3

I was 2490 rep away from revered with the trainers when Blizz made the change in the patch. Good part was, that I had the 3 old quest still to do, and was able to do them, and turn them in for the total rep of 850 points. So as long as you had the quest in your log prior to the patch, you can still do and turn in.

I just finished daily 14 with my cub and am now at 18510 revered, so in 2 days, i'll be exalted with the trainers.

Blizz, ya did something good for once, these dailies that you get from the cub, are to say, so dam easy at lvl 85. Takes me longer to cut through MH to get there then it does for me to actually do the daily. Plain and simple, its a rep grind that ain't a rep grind. Also, anyoe else notice that the cub is getting bigger, but still lvl 5?

Anyways, total benefits--after doing the 20 dailies, you would have earned 330g80s, plus exalted with another faction. If your a skinner this is even better, cause winterspring is rugged and think leather zone, and the owl beast drop runecloth. So after all is said and done, i'll earn my 25th exalted faction award, net profit of 250g80s, mount number 83, and how ever much I make off the lazy ah lvl'r

Just completed the 16th daily for this chain and I am now exalted with them. I can confirm that exalted with this faction counts towards 25 Exalted Reputations as well as the next 5 of them, and yes the reputation achievements continue in 5's up to 50 exalted. At 40 rep, you get the title " The Exalted.", and then ta 45 the title changes to "<your name> The Exalted."

Awesome bonus is you get the Feat of Strength achievement for the mount, and become exalted with Wintersaber too.

For those wondering how I did it quicker than 20 days...

Due to daylight savings anomoly due to different timer mechanisms, daily quests randomise at 3am server time (US) but the daily counter resets at 4am on a character.

The daily quests for the cub are not bundled together like most dailies. I noticed that some daily quests in Tol Barad, Therazine etc can pop up 1 hour early due to this while US is having daylight savings. The Wintersaber Cub dailies are not bundled, so at 3am there is a 75% chance that the daily quest randomises to another daily quest (3 of the other 4 quests), which means you can do it twice that day if you complete it before 4am daily quest counter resets.

I did the Sharptooth bear meat daily early in the morning and at 3AM while flying through Winterspring, I had the daily at Timbermaw Post pop.

This quest rewards 10 000 reputation (not counting guild perk or human racial). Doing whole line (i.e. starting quest + 20 dailies + this one), gives 43 000 reputation and thus makes you Exalted no matter what you do.

Daily quests reset every day at 3am. So, doing the quests late at night gives the opportunity to do the quest multiple times in a span of a few hours. Also, Dailies reset when the servers reboot

A Cub's Cravings

You will need to feed your Winterspring Cub: Shardtooth Meat (6)
Drops from bears with Shardtooth in their name, most common in the area between Frostsaber Rock and The Hidden Grove.
After being fed a piece of meat, the cub will offer one of the following emotes:

The Winterspring Cub devours the food.
The Winterspring Cub's strong jaws tear into the food.
The Winterspring Cub catches the food in its mouth and swallows it in one gulp.
The Winterspring Cub quickly finishes the food and glances around for more.

'Borrowing' From the Winterfall

You have to have your Winterspring Cub summoned in order to feed the Smoked Meat to it.
The Smoked Meat stands are found in two places:

Winterfall Village at (67, 46)
Timbermaw Post at (56, 35)

Cub's First Toy

To make the cat toy, you need these things:

Tough Yeti Hide (1)
- Dropped by the yeti just south of the Winterfall Village in the cave.
- Wildkin Feather (5)
  Dropped by the Owlbeasts in The Hidden Grove.

After collecting the hide and feathers, right-click to combine them into the cat toy. Then right-click the toy to Use it.
Using the toy produces a ground targeted area of effect targeting circle. Click the circle to have the cub play with the toy.
The Hidden Grove can be found at the north end of Winterspring, due north of Everlook, and is labeled on the game map.

Hunting Practice

Simply bring your cub close to one of the mounds. The cub will pounce on the mound, and the player will see the emote
Winterspring Cub pounces on the snow-covered hare burrow (View comments on that page for coordinates to some of the burrows I've found) If you don't have coordinates, most of the burrows are in the middle area between: Frostsaber Rock, The Hidden Grove, and Starfall Village.

Like anyone else, keep your hearth in Dalaran, fly over to the Silver Enclave and take the port to SW. Then head to SW lake and take the port to Mt. Hyjal. Jot over to the FM and fly to Everlook. Click the cub, follow the instructions, and repeat the next day. The key is keeping your hearth in Dalaran. Since they removed the ports from everywhere, this is your best bet to get anywhere.

I did this with my level 67, Priest-Shadow. I am glad I got my Frostsaber.My Warrior started on getting a Frostsaber before Cataclysmic came on, but my Priest got a Frostsaber first. Can the Frostsaber be given a name? If so how? Anyone?

I think the rep was better than this.
Old model could consume a bit more time, but you could choose when you want to spend that time. No one was forcing you to do it all at once (what many people were QQing about and what is the most common "reason" why they welcome this change). Now you have to do daily every day. Old version allowed you to say "I´m not in the mood of doing mount rep today" and you wasn´t punished for that. Also, now you have to travel to Winterspring and do one daily every time you feel like doing something for your mount. Old model allowed you to spend anywhere from 10 minutes to 10 hours, based on your current mood and available time.
I liked the old model more, much more, but I´m not going to QQ, I´m happy the mount wasn´t removed completelly

Just a heads up, completing this quest yesterday caused my counter for the Justly Rewarded achievement to reset. I submitted a ticket and posted on the forums, of course, but I thought I'd also note it here in case any of you are tracking that achievement. Someone else noted theirs resetting after completing Contributin' to the Cause. So you might want to wait on turning in any quests that require gold to complete.

This is sooooo stupid... Ive stopped to play for a couple months and before Cata I grinded my rep with Wintersaber trainers. Now that im abck i wanted to get my mount and go finish grinding my rep ( I only needed 4000 rep to exalted), but i cant do it because of the changes... It isnt hard to keep the other quests there just for people like me ( Im not alone) I mean cmon blizzard this is dumb. Now I have to do these dailies for 20 days when I could have got my mount in an hour.

If you reached the daily quest limit before turning in the daily you can still turn in the next day and get another daily at the same time. Glad they dont penalize you!

If you've already bought a cub as a companion pet from the pet vendor in Everlook, this is NOT the same cub that will give the daily quests to achieve the whiskers. I spent about fifteen minutes summoning, dismissing, summoning, dismissing, etc. my poor companion cub (who is now probably traumatized by all this), before I realized that there's a second one in my bag - and that this is the one you click on, which will show the blue exclamation mark and give you the quest.

If you are doing this quest with Mr. Popularity or Mr. Popularity, most probably you will be exalted 2 or 3 days before finishing the quest, When get exalted, I suggest drop the quest right away and buy the tiger from quest giver.

The quest need you to pay 80g to complete but you can buy the tiger for 70g (most probably your guild has Bartering).

The extra Cub's First Toy given as quest reward, worth's nothing as it is only a picture!

I'm 16/20 on the whiskers and going to be about 8k Rep short of 999/1000 with Winterspring when I'm done. Can anyone confirm the 10K rep from turning in this quest? I don't want to screw myself if I have the opportunity to do the daily a few more times if needed.

One thing I found curious about the Frostsaber daily quests is that EXP scales with your level, like it does with the Alliance cooking and fishing dailies. In my 60's I got 8-10,000 EXP per day, but by the time I finished at level 82 I was getting 30,000 EXP per day.

So I completed the 20 days, I have my required 20 whiskers, runecloth and rugged leather, as well as plenty of gold.

I went back and found Rivern Frostwind (on top of the cave, not quite where one is led to believe, but close enough). There is a yellow question mark over his head.

I click on 'They Grow Up So Fast'. It lists the required items for the quest. I click on 'Continue'.

The box (Rivern) says, "It looks like you've done an admirable job of raising your cub, Kelsen. Your saber has grown up to be strong, healthy and loyal. Both of you are well-matched.

Your Winterspring Frostsaber will respond to your call anytime you wish to ride together."

The box shows me the quest rewards (the Reins, and "Cub's first toy".) At the bottom of the box is a button, labeled (as usual), "Complete Quest".

And that's it. When I hit it, nothing happens. The quest will not complete.

Any ideas?

Couple of things... I'm at 16 whiskers and will not hit exalted before I complete the chain. Not a big issue for me, but thought others should know.

For those of us who are doping this late in the game and also want to quickly get exalted with the the faction that gives this, when you get 20 whiskers, you can keep doing the daily for a few more days, getting 1600+ rep points each time, putting you into an exalted status. After that, I turned it in and got my mount and the extra exalted faction.

For those people using the carbonite addon, if you can't see the icon to summon your cub next to your quest in the quest log you need to log out and disable carbonite and log back in to enable the summon icon.

I was a faction transfer (Horde to Alliance). As horde, I was 16 teeth into completion when I switched.

The little pet and the teeth turned into the cub and whiskers.

And I am still able to continue complete dailies post-20 whiskers in order to be exalted when I hand in the quest.

At first I was like, 20 days of Winterspring? You must be joking. Then after a while the quest line started to grow on me. It was if you were really raising a pet in real life. This led me to think that they really do grow up so fast; and, at the end you get the Cub's First Toy which serves as remembrance of what your cub was like on it's 1st birthday. I almost cried and I'm not even a chick.

So I started this quest at like a low level and I might get 90 in 4 days, which is when I complete the quest... so if I complete it at 90 I don't get the mount just 19g?

Somewhere along the way of transferring and race changing I lost my Winterspring Cub.

If you happen to lose the item, it is safe to abandon the quest and pick it up again to receive another one. You will NOT lose your Winterspring Cub Whisker, as they are not tagged as quest items and will not disappear when the quest is dropped.

I can't get any of the daily quests from my winterspring cub anymore..
I think it might have to do with the new expansion and how we have all the pets in the battle page..
i've had the quest for quite awhile but never got around to doing the quests each day....
if anyone has any information on how to obtain more whiskers since the expansion, you would really help alot, and it would be good info to have on WoWhead, i'm sure alot of other players are noticing the same problem...

With account-wide mounts in MoP, obtaining either this tiger or the Venomhide Ravasaur mount will cause the other to appear on all your characters depending on faction.

So I think ive found a bug with this quest and the dailies associated with it that will allow you to pick up more than one of the dailies at a time.

If you go to a different realm and pick up a quest from the cub, when you return to your realm you're still able to pick up the quest from your cub.

I've only tested it enough that I was able to get 2 quests, You might be able to get all 4 if you go to enough different realms to get them, doing the quest in 5 days.

Of course this is unintended so keep that in mind when considering doing this.

Edit: I managed to pick up a third it probably is possible to get all in one day

Found a helpful bug with this. Go to Winterspring, do a daily, then make sure your cub is out before leaving. If you port to a different expansion zone (Outland, Northrend, Pandaria, Draenor, Broken Isles) you can click on your cub and have another daily available. The blue exclamation point doesn't always pop up, but you can still get it when you click on the little guy, then you just go back to Winterspring, do the quest and turn it in. This only worked once for each zone with me, but it saved me 5 days of waiting to finish it.

This quest can be done in 10 days.

Go to Winterspring, summon your pet, accept and finish your daily.
Before using your Hearthstone which is set to Vale of Eternal Blossoms make sure that your pet is still summoned.
After porting to Vale of Eternal Blossoms it can take a couple of minutes before the new quest will show up. Accept it. (Sometimes you don't see the blue exclamation mark, just click on the cub.)
Now go to Winterspring again and do your 2nd daily of this day.

I found that as a Rogue after I had completed my cubs daily quest and used my Dalaran hearthstone without un-summoning my cub via flying, I would be able to take my cub to my class hall and get another daily quest essentially cutting the time taken to complete the quest by half.

I am not sure if it is applicable for any other class but it seems like the different phases reset the daily quest for the cub.

So I just started this on my new toon, and did the first daily and got the first whisker, it is in my bag but it isn't showing up on the quest log as having 1 whisker even though I do. Will it only show up on the quest if you have all 20?

I've been consistently getting this daily twice a day by hearthing to New Dal with the cub still out, and then taking the portal to SW. First time it happened I thought I just got lucky or had the daily reset, but it seems to work every time I do it.

Like some folks have suggested, it's possible to get MULTIPLE daily quests here with a little trickery and luck. Once you summon your cub and get your daily quest, it's possible to interact with somebody else's cub and get an additional daily quest from them.

I did this entirely on accident and decided to check comments here. Seems other folks have done this as well. In theory, if you're exceptionally lucky (or friendly?) you could stack quite a few daily quests here. Though, based on other comments below, it seems 15x might be the limit where they start disappearing.

I have left a reply comment to Watergirl's comment. But I decided to update comment here after the release of patch 8.0. Here are the steps you should do before trying anything here:

Get to Laughing Inn, Everlook, Winterspring.
Set your main hearthstone to the Laughing Inn in Everlook.
Summon the Winterspring Cub. (This is important part. The Cub must always be out).
Then use the New Dal hearthstone.
Walk from the where you port to New Dal to the SW portal in the Greyfang Enclave.
Once you are in SW wait a few seconds for the Cub to appear.
Use your main hearthstone to port to Laughing Inn, Everlook, Winterspring.
The cub will appear a few seconds later and a Blue Quest sign will be over the cub's head.

I found this method to work. I will be checking other methods here and update accordingly.

August 6th, 2018 (IST) - I did the following after doing the regular cub daily - Used my garrison hearthstone and after a minute I noticed that the cub gave me another daily in my garrison. Hearthed back to the Laughing Inn, Everlook, Winterspring. Did the daily. So there was 2 done again this day.

After doing the daily twice I decided to log in on another character and after some time log back to the character doing the cub dailies. I tried to use the first method and found that NO new dailies was given even after waiting for a few minutes. In conclusion you can now do this daily twice a day.

I have not tried the server hopping method but since the 8.0.1 patch I do not think that it works that way anymore. If anyone can check on this method now and let me know I would appreciate it.

As of August 10th, 2018 these methods are not working. I checked on 2 different characters. The daily quest symbol over the cub's head failed to appear after I went to Stormwind. I did wait for at least 5 minutes. Nothing. Will update again if this changes. Would appreciate if anyone can check this.

8.0.1 at the moment.
Found a bug with the daily quests, if you enter and instanced dungeon (which in my case was through LFD) the cub comes with you and it gives you another one of the daily quests.

Where do you get these dallies? I've flown all over the place and can't find any. Perhaps you have to wait a day after getting the starter quest?
EDIT: Oh, you right click a quest item in your bags, I suppose from the starter quest.

I'm now on 19/20 whiskers and have had at least two whiskers per day. The old methods of entering a different zone (which may be because it's tied to a different realm?) still works. I'm a druid and I used my dreamgrove teleport after completing my first daily with the cub still out. I then walked over to the Grizzly Hills portal entrance, went through and I'd have a second daily. I did have one day where I had three dailies but I have no idea why.

Found a bug which allows you to do two of these dailies a day.

I have not tested it fully, you might even be able to do several a day.

Anyway.. I would start out in Winterspring, do one of the daily quests, deliver the quest to the cub and while it is still out use Garrison HS.
The cub will then come with you to your Garrison, and once a daily is picked up from your Garrison, the cub will also have a daily quest more.

Oke i dont know if this is intended or if its a bug but.. when you complete your daily quest and hearthstone out with your cub out.. the daily seems to reset and offers you another quest.. i tryed hearthstoning without my pet out and summoning pet after but it didnt give me any quest..

Regarding the extra quests, I suspect the determination of if you get a second, or third, is related to what your first one of the day is.

I'm on quest 11/20 and I've noticed I only get a second quest offered if the first one wasn't 'A Cub's Cravings', and in those cases the second one has always been 'A Cub's Cravings'. So, it could be that the real bug is you can always do 'A Cub's Cravings' once a day, and if it wasn't offered first on a zone change it will be.

So the trigger to be offered another quest is definitely zoning with your cub out, but I suspect the ability to get it is related to which one you did first.

I picked this quest up in 9.2.5 and I noticed a little ''glitch'' that helps with dailies.

1. Do daily for that day. ( leave cub summoned)
2. Heartstone out (mines to Ardenweald and I only tried it this way, maybe only works with shadowlands)
3. Take portal to Oribos.
4. Cub reapears with a new daily.
5. You are welcome.

This seems to only work once per day as I tried waiting for reset on heartstone but the Cub didn't reapppear the second time on the same day. Should cut your waiting game in half.

Some users have mentioned finding a bug where you can complete two dailies with the cub.

I think I've narrowed down the exact circumstances of this bug. I've only been able to reproduce this three times and ONLY after completing the daily Cub's First Toy

After turning in the quest to the cub. Keep it summoned and hearth (seemingly anywhere). The cub will hearth with you and give you another quest.

Some users say you need to pick up another daily quest, but I've just been able to interact with another NPC (like an auction house, or AH mount) and the cub gives the quest.

As mentioned before u can somehow get the Cub do give u a second Quest.
This still works in Dragonflight!

The Method that works best for me is the following:

1. Do your first Daily Quest in Winterspring
2. Teleport to Stormwind ( Cloak ) with your Cub out.
3. Run down the Mage Tower on foot, dont mount up or anything else he wont stay out
4. Toggle your WM On/Off and wait for a second.

This worked for 2 Days in a row now, i tried toggling WM in Magetower and it didnt worked.
Maybe this helps someone. :)

This cub is going to require a lot of attention to ensure that he grows up strong and healthy. You should check up on your cub at least once each day. Feeding and caring for your Winterspring cub is the best way to build a bond of trust with him.

As your cub grows, he will shed his old whiskers and grow new ones appropriate to his size. Once your cub has shed twenty whiskers, bring him back to me along with some materials for your saddle.
