Completing this quest phases out the flight path for alliance. Its not really vital but if you want it don't hand it in.

Kind of a downer of an ending, but at least you get a nice reward for your futility.

I do like this though. Nothing like seeing ground you've been fighting for permanently lost to the Horde to point up how much the world has changed in 4.0. Haven't had anything like this in game before.

Wow this quest was bullcrap, after everything I went through the horde just take it and thassaran dissapears, no epic battle with his brother or anything.

The quest title is a reference to the original quest to kill Araj, pre-Cataclysm.

On a side note, I was surprised by the effectiveness of Blizzard's storytelling with this zone. It was short, to be honest, but it REALLY showed how evil the Forsaken are becoming.

I don't know if this changes after level 40, but after leveling both an Alliance and Horde character after the Shattering, the Alliance is getting absolutely destroyed.

The only place they've made any headway is Southern Barrens, it seems.

I think Vanilla WoW handled conflict rather well - both factions fought, but the endings to the battles were inconclusive. If you were Alliance, the quests made it seem like Alliance won. If you were Horde, the quests made it seem like the Horde won.

But in Cata they seem to have taken out all uncertainty. Now, when there's a battle between the Alliance and Horde, there are two possible outcomes - a draw, or the Horde wins. :(

Was kind of dissapointed when this questline ended as a loss for the Alliance. I really hoped to reclaim Andorhal. However ( Thassarian says: My battle's not over yet. I've got an appointment with that harpy that calls herself a Banshee Queen... and I'm finding out what she did to Koltira.) Turns out that the Forsaken are really playing a dirty game (especially now withThrall gone and a new, inexperienced warchief in his place) and becoming a serious threat. WTB some spanking @ Sylvanass when Thrall returns (Hope he does ;p)

Considering the hordes new warchief is substantionally more bloodthirsty than Thrall ever was, I think that is the reason. The forsaken are also stirring up something of their own... I wonder.

Neat questline, though a bit short, would've loved to see what Thassarian would do when he finds out what happened to Koltira. I guess I'll keep searching for the quest then :)

You know it's bad when my Horde for Life ass is rooting for Thassarian. I would much rather have lost the town than have what happened to Koltira, happen to Koltira. I even knew the outcome before starting on the quest, but it was so much worse watching the cut scene. I've always preferred the Kalimdor Horde, but now I'm getting to where I hate The Forsaken. I swear, if the Alliance on my server attacks UC, I am going to zip over as fast as I can...so I can stand there and cheer them on.

Sylvanas is NOT like the Lich King. The Lich King raised the dead to be mindless servants that had no will and forced to serve him. Sylvanas, as seen in one of the first quests when you make an undead character, raises them to give them another chance at life. They have the choice to join the forsaken or leave, as Marshal Redpath and some other people do.

*spoiler* After doing the quest chain in silver pine forest, you learn that the forsaken numbers are dwindling and given that they cannot reproduce, Sylvanas is forced to increase her forces the only way she knows how. I admit that her methods are a bit aggressive and what she did to koltira was more then out of line. However just as 4dehorde pointed out, everything she does, she does for her people and their survival. Besides...she's the banshee queen...what in the world would make you think that her methods were going to be nice & tidy? ;)

Sylvanas is actually worse than Arthas, her army commits the same sort of abominations under their free will. Also Koltira was a Blood Elf, Thassarian says so.

So, I just completed this quest chain on my level 70 Worgen Mage and was only offered the Chillwind Tunic as a reward. The entire reason I undertook this quest chain was to obtain the Chillwind Staff for transmogrification. Any idea why I wasn't offered the staff? I'm guessing it is because of the agility stats on the staff.

I'm going to try it again on a feral druid and see if the staff is offered.

Edit: Finished it on my druid and received the Chillwind Staff. Also unlocked the transmog for the Chillwind Pants. Leggings. Whatever. :)

If you don't see this quest because you do them with a boosted alt or a char that was levelled on the Horde side, just pick up the first quests offered at Chillwind camp. I had to do 30 quests before this quest was offered. You can skip the quests 'Northridge lumber mill', 'A different approach' and 'Into the woods'.

For me, this quest was bugged. When I was trying to turn it in, I realized that everything was missing. All NPCs, mobs and even resource deposits (herbs, ore, fish) outside of Andorhal were gone. Even when I left Western Plaguelands, there was still nothing.

I solved the issue by going to Stormwind (the gryphon master in Andorhal was still there) and while 90% of the NPCs and all of the portals inside the Mage Tower were missing, the portal to Darnassus at the Harbor was still there. Took it, took the portal back and everything was back in place. Took the gryphon to Chillwind Camp and voilà: I could turn in the quest. Maybe closing the game and turning it back on would've worked as well, but I only tried reloading, which did nothing.

If you dont see the NPC, you can queue in dungeon finder and when you exit, you be able to turn in!

No NPCs at the camp for me today. . . i logged out in the camp and came to check wowhead.

Logged back in to queue for dungeon finder and poof! All were there!

I'm on this journey because when I looked at my rep, the Argent Dawn don't even know I exist! I must make my presence felt! Stressing a little though that i'm doing all this questing and i've missed something for my argent dawn commission. . . .

Confirm this is still buggy. If nobody is there at the turn in, hearth out or take a portal (ie dreamwalk) and fly back.

Still bugged as of 20/01/2023. For me worked a simplier solution than hearth back to who knows where - just fly to Hillsbrad Foothills, and as soon as the area changes, get back to Western Plaguelands, and bam - NPCs showed for me.

Re-logging got the npcs back for me.

not alt+f4, no hearthing (to the inn here) and not going to hillsbrad. Just waiting the 20 seconds and coming back was enough.

This quest was bugged for me. All npc were missing when I tried to turn-in. Reload ui did not work but game restart worked.

Still bugged, no NPCs after finishing the quest and unable to turn in.
Per some other peoples comments, I (mage) took a portal to Oribos thinking loading another continent would help. Then I took an ancient dalaran portal and flew back, NPCs had returned.

As previously stated, logging out, rather than exiting the game, seems to work.

So reloading and logging in and out did not work for me so what i did was use a flight master to the area and the npc appeared.
