You have to make your way to the top of the tower and use the Potion of Shrouding regardless of how powerful you are, otherwise nothing will be at the top of the tower and the quest can not be completed.

As stated in the quest text, the quest giver watches over you. Just attack the elites and she will one shot them for you, allowing you to enter the tower.

It bugged for me the first time. I got to top, took potion and nothing happened. I then removed the potion and took it again and tehy started their conversation.

Be careful on your way out of tower as well as potion automatically gets removed and guards can see you.

How to do this quest:

-Go to the tower and begin attacking the elite guard. The quest giver, Agent Kearnen, will use her rifle to kill them.

-Go inside of tower and go to the top floor. Use your potion and listen in to the conversation. IF YOU DO NOT USE POTION YOU WILL NOT HEAR CONVERSATION.

-Return to quest giver, you will automatically lose the effects of the potion. Otherwise the potion lasts for ten minutes.

If you have a pet, it will be shrouded with you when you use the potion. So no need to dismiss or leave it behind.

If you go up to the top and look at the right of where you reach the topfloor, you'll see that the wall is a bit further in then the rest of the room. If you stand in that place, then use the potion and then walk up to them, it'll work. Well it did for me after 17 times running up and down the freaking tower -_-

Eh, you can just use the potion once you enter the tower. Then, just run up the stairs as it lasts 10 minutes. Just run up to the elites and she will shoot them dead in one shot. Easy quest.

If you don't kill the mercenaries at the bottom of the tower, the conversation doesn't start.

So if you are doing this quest at an high level, you can't skip them by entering the tower with a flying mount.

What you need to do here is get on the top floor of the tower and use the potion you got in your bag called Potion of Shrouding

I have done this quest I don't know how many times before. And, in the past, I've just been able to run into the tower and Agent Kearnen has always taken care of the elites.

This time, they followed me up into the tower and I almost died before I got back to Agent Kearnen.

So I looked here.

The trick is to smack each of them (doesn't matter how) before you run into the tower. Then Agent Kearnen will one-shot them.

Yes, I know it goes against the grain in all of us to smack an elite by ourselves. Especially when there are a few more nearby. But unless you want to run the risk of them following you into the tower and ganging up on you, engage them outside where Kearnen can get shots off.

Anybody thought about using this tower for RP? It only has elites on the outside that are low level, it's quite large and a great place for an "evil lair".

Also it's easier to find your way up the tower if you don't drink the potion until you're most of the way up. The potion makes everything blurry and weird to the eyes. My eyes aren't the best, but I breezed up after the second time the potion wore off and I tried without using the potion. Also I did dismiss my elemental just because he blocks my view too much. :)

Watch out for the nearby cyclone that makes this quest a pain in the ass. Bad enough those things like to throw your char around and do damage, thus one like to throw the elites around doing zero damage, but making them all pissed and running about everywhere

Special Note for Combat Rogues: Your guns are useless here, you gotta make stabby-stab to get that asshat to one-shot them. The reson for this is that your attack doesn't trigger the help, it's when the elites attempt to attack you

Secrets of the Tower

Enter Mortwake's Tower and find Helix Gearbreaker.

Description

Helix has got himself holed up inside Klaven Mortwake's old tower. I won't lie to you, <name>, it's heavily guarded. I count six armed mercenaries just on the outside. There's no way you're getting inside that tower by yourself. Lucky for you, Claire and I are here.

Take this shrouding potion, you'll need it once you get inside. Use it as soon as you enter the tower and head upstairs. Find out what Helix is hiding up there!
