Need 20 crushed Nightstalker Legs. Spiders drop Nightstalker Legs. Zero-four legs per kill. Crush the legs into 1 powder per leg.

Need 2 Screecher Brains. Bats drop 0-1 brain per kill. Mash the brain into a paste.

Need 4 Tainted Hides. Bears drop the hides. 0-1 per kill.

Mix the crushed spider legs and bat brain paste together, and sew the bear hides into a pouch (no thread required). Then combine the mixture and pouch to complete your demoniac vessel.

(For clarification, all you have to do is right-click the items in your bag)

It was a big long grind to get all the items you need, I gave up after a while - even though its a pretty nice reward at the end of this quest line. I was to eager to go through the portal. :)

It literally took me about 20 kills of the screechers for the the TWO brains. Awful grind quest.

I did this quest in less than 30 mins with 1 other person at lvl 57, wihout having to kill a whole bunch of bats. I guess it just depends on how lucky you are.

The part of this quest that took longest for me was when Deathwing decided to drop by and scorch the whole field.

On the bright side, I did get Stood in the Fire. :)

The bats are so annoying with their extra-low drop rate. The worst part is that this is a horde and alliance quest, so often you will have allies stealing the bats from you making this even longer.

Ok, all this action takes place in a field at 39/62 off of Sunwich; and is past the demons and such. I think since the previous guys were complaining about the Screechers, Blizzard fixed that, and it doesn't take forever to get two brains. Did the whole thing in about 15 minutes as a unholy priest, alliance 58 -solo. No sweat.

One problem with this quest.
When you gather every item u need for it. If you joining together those items before gather ll that u need. and IF you will get one-two above needed items. AND IF you will destroy any of not needed items from your inventory - this will automatically abandon the quest. I lost freaking hour of my life to gather all loot. But since I was joining them together right after I got it. I'v got brain from bats that i couldn't use. Right click on it was telling me that you have already many of this item in ur bag. And when I delete it - quests just freaking abandon itself. But this Demonic Vessel as complete quest item is still in my bag. I wonder what happens if I will retake it... will it disappear?

If you have too many of one of the quest items, say 1 or 2 over... DO NOT try to delete the extras. It will delete ALL of that type of quest item & automatically abandon the quest.

Now to start all over again... /sigh

Edit: After restarting the quest, the stack of Nightstalker Legs that I had deleted reappeared. The 3 Tainted Hides & 1 Screecher Brain, however, did not.

You know, I can forgive the drop rate on the bears... maybe some of the hide was rotten and not good enough.

I can forgive the drop rate on the spiders... maybe it wanted specifically the front ones. I don't know.

What I can't forgive is the drop rate on the bats. I killed easily 50 of them, just to get 4 brains. And I'd have a hard time explaining why 46/50 bats are flying around without a brain.

DO NOT DELETE QUEST ITEMS WHILE THE QUEST IS ACTIVE.

Bugged as of March 2014. Drop rate still terrible as well. One of the worst quests in the game.

I'm slightly OCD, so after a full hour of grinding these mobs...

I had 22 Spider Legs (You only need 20)
I had 3 Tainted Hides
I had 1 Screecher Brain.

Now, I had just had my first brain drop. My bags were getting full, and I'm slightly OCD. I did not like the fact that I had 2 extra spider legs in my bag.

So, with the quest active, I deleted the 2 extra spider legs.

DO NOT DO THIS.

The game automatically deleted my 3 tainted hides, my demoniac vessel, my screecher brain, and automatically abandoned my quest. It left me with my 20 crushed spider legs though -- how very nice of them.

On top of this, the game is in a bugged state and neither Rohan or Elijah will give me the quest again and/or a new demoniac vessel. Killing new mobs for this quest do not drop quest items.

I am now stuck with an incomplete chain/zone, and having wasted over an hour grinding mobs for nothing.

Learn from my mistakes everyone :(

EDIT: It seems after logging out of the game and logging back in, Elijah has respawned with the quest. Time to grind again...

Keeping the post active as a warning: Don't delete any quest items or you will have wasted ALOT of time.

As of patch 5.4.8!

This quest has been fixed I believe. It took me roughly 10-15 minutes to get all materials needed for quest. Level 57 Hunter.

You need 20 Spider Legs (not sure drop rate however, killed 3 at once and got 7 legs)

You need 4 Bear Hides (decent drop rate)

You need 2 Screecher Brains (this one has the lowest drop rate.

Simply put once you have all the materials just click on each one in your inventory.

The drop rate on those screecher brains definitely needs a bump, had to extinguish the whole bloody species before getting those...

There seems to be a new bug that automatically removes the quest from your log. If that happens, simply go and take the quest from the quest giver. This should solve the problem.

Greetings,

This quest is still bugged with some items not dropping. If you encounter issues with missing items for the Demoniac Vessel, abandon the quest and return to Elijah Dawnflight to accept it again - this fixed the issues for me and I was able to complete the quest today.

I deleted an extra spider leg which auto-abandoned the quest. I didn't realize it until I killed like 100 mobs and wondered why I couldn't get any more quest items.

As of 18 March 2021, fully updated but have not purchased SL ...
The drop rate still sucks, as noted by others. The spider legs are trivial, the bear is bordering on unacceptable, but the bat brain drop rate is inexcusably bad. The stupidity of dropping the quest and everything but the spider legs, except for the ground up ones, still exists. I will point out that when I did get the brains, the drops were only one or two kills apart.

These drop rates are stupid. I can see having "intact bat brains" or "pristine bat brains" and always having some kind of bat brain drop each time, but just having no drop is unrealistic (in the context of the game, of course). There are hundreds of examples of such nonsense in the game.

As of 9.1 I got "phasing issues" when going back to the quest giver on a flying mount to turn the quest in.

Stay clear of the waterfall/lake, and go to the right side to keep in-phase and you will be able to turn in this quest (it will take a while to "find" the area where the phase won't change).

By the way the "brain" droprate is the worst I have seen in any "Classic" quest, and I have completed absolutely all of the "Classic" quests in retail in the last couple of weeks.

Demoniac Vessel

Kill the Tainted Black Bears, Tainted Nightstalkers, and Tainted Screechers in the Tainted Forest, and try to assemble their parts into a Demoniac Vessel.

Description

We need a way to get Wormthorn's attention. Something to break him out of his trance. Something that's guaranteed to work.

The few types of wildlife that managed to make a foothold in the Tainted Forest are, without a doubt, affected by the land's latent energies. Your task is to collect their body parts and find a way to combine them into a vessel. If Wormthorn's trance is druidic, or even if it is demonic, a large enough vessel of tainted animal flesh should be able to break it.
