Just started this quest and even though I have the earthen mining pick....I still had to go and buy a regular pick to be able to mine the enchanted earth.

The earth is on the cliff facing north just below where the Stormforged Reavers and Dolomite Giants are fighting. I found just one earth per ledge, thus I had to hop on and off my flying mount a lot. The general location is 27,33. Just travel up and down to get all your earth. The earthen mining pick works fine, all you have to do is right click on the earth.

A good place to grind some Frostweave Cloth was at Narvir's Cradle (29.9, 45.9 area) for those who don't have any on them at the moment.

If you don't have the Frostweave Cloth on you, you can go grab some from the Stormforged Raiders on the Snowdrift Plains.

All I can say is doing the quest for these is great, Who would think they lvl your mining! I had just recently picked up mining on my shaman for gathering and was only lvl 3, well low and behold by the time I finished this quest (Threw away when had 7 and went back to mining) I was lvl 120 mining! Faster then you could ever actually go look for nodes. So if you get the chance to get some free points go for it! So worth taking a little longer to complete the quest ;D

I realize this might be one of those posts like a world drop item " Krol blade dropped off ____ for me"

but...really, when I got this quest, the drop rate of frostweave was absurdly low, like an actual quest item. It took me about 8 minutes clearing Narvir's cradle and that small village Nidavelir to finally get 5 cloth, no one NPC dropped more than 1 cloth.

I turned it in, doing the next part of the quest, NPC's finally started dropping cloth like they used to, 4 and 3 off a mob at a time.

Basically...Come prepared with 5 Frostweave cloth when doing this quest. or I'm unlucky, whatever

Make sure you have the frostweave cloth ON your character. It seems as though quest helper is bugged : / it showed that i had the frostweave cloth with me when really it was in my bank. And if you don't have any you can get it from the stormforged raiders. Hope this helps.

QuestHelper told me to kill the giant guardian looking things to get the rare earth -- this is not the case! So for those of you who just leveled the entire area and didn't see one quest item drop besides Frostweave, jump on your flying mount and prepare to dive off the cliff hitting snowy nodes by right clicking. Easy.

For anyone who's frustrated at the lack of Frostweave cloth sources, just do what I did: go to Valkyrion and kill some Aspirants, you should have the cloth in no time. Some of them even dropped more than one piece.

For the ore just walk out of the cave and look for yellow dots on the map. You'll have to fly down to get em.

The Rare Earth looks like a Small Rocks sticking up out of the Snow that is on ledges up and down the Rock Face of the Massive Cliff...
From the Air just look for black dots on the Snow covered ledges of the Cliff Face
,,, there are also Rare Earth rocks on top of the Edge of the Cliff where the fighting is...

It took me a minute to figure this out since Quest helper point to a different direction. just flying around 23.34 and you'll see them all around. gotta hop in you mount to get from one to another. gl

For the Rare Earth just fly down to the various ledges on the north facing cliffs near Bouldercrags Refuge.

The Frostweave Cloth (which dropped like rain in Icecrown) seems to be as rare as rocking horse s*** in Storm Peaks! Previously I went to the Apsirants in Valkyrion to get it, but now that supply appears to have been ended. The Stormforged Attackers now drop this item, but you will need to kill about 20 or so to get all 5 pieces.

I couldn't get anything to drop Frostweave and ultimately had to have my tailor email some. Fortunately Bouldercrag's Refuge has a mailbox. It's probably a glitch and they'll get it sorted out sometime. Be prepared - bring some along.

For anyone going back and doing this, one of the other comments was accurate - be sure you have the frostweave cloth on you (not in bank) - quest indicator will show either way so be very sure.

What I didn't see covered, is If you don't have it ON you, you will get an out of range error when you try to use the mining pick on the Enchanted Earth. It was a long way back to a bank and back out this way..

Description

It seems so long ago that these hammers pounded and hewed stone instead of iron. Our expulsion from Ulduar saw the weakest of us dead and the strongest of our craftsmen reborn as warriors.

As the irons beat us back, even the strongest find themselves failing.

We can do little for the wounded, save when we have a stock of enchanted earth. We used to mine it from the deposits on the sheer cliff face to the northwest, but the constant battle has prevented us from replenishing our stock. Would you help?
