fun quest as well.

this quest is the opener for the daily ram racing quests, it being repeatable forever is a bug that has been hotfixed and is now repeatable on a12 hours delay (not daily quest).

Do not accept the follow up while shapeshifted. I was unable to complete the quest after talking to him in shapeshift form. It gave me the standard "Unable to mount while shapeshifted" error.

My personal record is 10 kegs now. I don't think you can get more than 11. At the very max 12 kegs,
so around 60 tickets a day.

My max is around 33 tickets, 11 kegs.

I followed the guide on WoW Wiki: http://www.wowwiki.com/Brewfest#Racing_Ram_Tips and it works great:

"A tip for quick, easy course changes: once you get your ram pointed on a clear straight path to an apple barrel or keg pick-up or drop-off point, rotate your camera to face the direction you'll want to travel after getting there. That way, when you reach your destination, you can press the right mouse button to change your heading instantly and accurately. The rams are always running, but the game still keeps track of whether your character is in run or stand mode. If you are in run mode many peoples' camera swings to face forward. You can just press your key bound to turn off movement. Your ram will still be running, but your camera will stay in place as if you were standing still."

In a nutshell...as you're running toward one of the NPCs, press and hold your left mouse button to turn your camera around. Then, as soon as you either have a keg or have delivered one (or you get close enough to the NPC to trigger the action) press your right mouse button while still holding the left button and you will immediately swivel around.

I practiced a bit using auto-run before trying it out. Works great and I'm able to max out the keg delivery each time. Ram mount here I come! :D

While I'm at it, here's the list of pointers posted in the video's description:

Always stay in a gallop.
Take your time around the apple bushels, they're very easy to miss if you just speed past them.
Make sure you get the kegs; if you don't, go back to the last apple bushel and try again. *Do not* turn around before going back to the bushel as you'll just end up fatigued.
Bind your reins to a convenient button like C or V.
Do not turn with your keyboard. Common sense to some, unthinkable to others; I'd think it's like piloting a fighter jet with a steering wheel.
Have fun with your ram, but remember that drink riding kills.

Good thing to do at the pickup/dropoff locations is to jump far enough to pick up/drop off a keg, while turning 180 degrees with the right mouse button so you can take off in the opposite direction right away.

Please note:

You'd think this would be obvious, but I goofed it up good...

You MUST have room in your inventory to receive a portable keg in the repeatable quest. If you do not have room, you will not get the keg, you will not turn on in on return, and you will not get the time extension. It took me about 3-4 passes before I finally realized it...

This quest can be done on your normal ground mount, you don't have to use the ram.

The ram racing is definitely repeatable, however it does not appear to be on a 12 hour timer any more. I believe it resets at the same time as normal dailies. Also, it's not a "quest" per se, so you won't be able to view or reset it from your quest log -- you'll have to wait until it resets on its own.

As for the quest, one of the barrels has been moved, so the old vids & path are not as useful. Instead, go from the start point to the middle apple barrel, then directly to the end barrel. At the end barrel you will probably catch the brew, if not veer closer to the NPC to make sure you catch it. Head directly back toward the middle barrel, then continue straight to the quest starter NPC. If you are able to catch the keg from him with 45 or less fatigue turn directly around & go back to the middle apple barrel. If you lag a bit & don't catch the keg (& get your 2 tokens) fast enough, go behind the tent to reset your fatigue and then continue with the circuit, repeating the above steps.

I was able to get 18 tokens easily following this method. 20 should be fairly do-able if you don't have to go behind the tent. 22 maybe if you are perfect on your turns. Any more than that...well good luck!

Blizzard removed the ability to stop while on the ram by pressing back this year, so you now have to get off the ram to actually stop. Last year I would press back for a split second at each apple barrel to make sure my stamina refreshed. This isn't an option this year. Either run into the barrel or take the long way around it to make sure that you don't run out of stamina.

One thing to note that has caused some confusion.

When you originally get this quest, Ram Master Ray is marked with a yellow "quest" exclamation point.

The first time you do this quest you get 10 Brewfest Prize Tokens for delivering 3 Kegs.

When I went back after 12 hours to get the quest again there was no Blue Daily "quest mark" so I assumed that the Cool Down on the quest was not up yet. I then found out that Ram Master Ray does not get the Blue Daily "quest mark" and that you just have to talk to him in order to get the quest.

So even though it looks like there is not a quest for you to do, just talk to Ram Master Ray after the quest Cool Down and you can pick the quest up again.

Also, Each additional time you quest after the first time, the Brewfest Prize Token reward changes. for all follow-up Keg runs the reward will be 2 Tokens per Keg delivered for the duration of the quest.

Hope this clears up some confusion I had read in General Chat and seen on forums.

I don't think this quest is on a 12 hour cool down. I did the quest at 18:00 but I couldn't do it 12 hours later again.The Ram master a a mask on his face when you cannot do the quest. When the mask goes away you can do the quest again. I don't know how often that happens.

I've figured out that the best trick not miss the fatigue-refresh thing is to use the Spacebar and Jump through the apple bushels, it will give you a 100% chance to reset fatigue careless your latency problems.

Is it just me or did the Horde get the short end of the stick with the keg runs? I have a really hard time doing them, and can only get 9. (I just read some of the tips here, and may see if I can get up to 12, but as of writing this the most I've ever gotten were 9 runs, for 18 tokens.)

But alliance side I have gotten up to 17 runs completed! 34 tokens, compared to only 18 tokens!

This has made me a really sad panda whenever the time comes for me to do my horde alts' keg runs. :(

The NPC is at "50:13", just ride down to the coast - Bladefist Bay
That's outside of Orgrimmar, where in the past the zeppelin location to UC/Strangle was positioned

you can do this quest on your flying mount! simply dismount the ram and hop on your mount, makes it a lot faster, sure they'll hotfix it though

Confirmed, you can fly on your mount :D or use flight form if you're a Druid :p If you're in a group you get credit for someone else delivering also.

The new horde riding path is filled with all kinds of sharp items and corners to get stuck into, got 9 barrels just running casually with couple minor fails but almost fulltime galloping, havent tried how many i could get on allychar, but the allyroute is way smoother and straight.

Ok, this annoyed me, Blizz havent updated text details in the quest, the goblin is on the road to the docks just outside org, about half way between main gate and Bladefist bay.

Despite what the quest says, the NPC that gives you the booze is actually on the road east of org, which doesn't even go to Razor hill. Logic! It's like a cruel joke to make you run around like an idiot expecting him to be on the wrong road.

The bug has been fixed during server restarts. Also the npc is NOT on the way to Razor Hills, as the q description says, it's on the way to East, by the sea, where the ships are also.
You don't have to follow the road btw, go to your right as you take the q, through the little camp with orcs and archers, its shorter and it also has a barrel of apples.

The quest giver (Ram Master Ray) is at 42.6, 17.8.
The guy that gives you the kegs (Bok Dropcertain) is now along the path to the East, at 50.6, 13.5.
There are four fruit baskets, shown on this map. The first is next to the quest giver and the last is next to the keg giver.
As of today you can get off your ram and just fly there and back, making the quest a lot quicker. You have to stay mounted for the follow-up daily though, as you don't actually get a quest; as soon as you dismount the event/quest is over
The daily lasts 4 minutes as a base, with 30 seconds added on for each successful keg handed in. Each keg also grants 2 Brewfest Prize Tokens when handed in. The first time I did it I handed in 8 kegs (approximately 1 per minute as 30 seconds are added on each time) granting 16 tokens; 9 kegs is easily doable but I had some (I assume latency related) issues with the baskets resetting stacks.

Also the follow up pisses me off since if you don't know the event beforehand, you are 80% of losing the tokens since there is no much confirmation that if you dismount immediately you lost all your chance for that daily.

It seems that the follow up has become easier than it used to be. I only recall being able to get 6 kegs last year where this year I got 9-10 of them. However, the route is much more difficult now.

As of 2011 Brewfest, I did this quest and found that if you right click off the ram buff, fly on your normal flying mount, the goblin will still toss you the keg and you can still return them (the goblin near bladefist bay, NOT on the road to razorhill--the quest text is outdated). Flying at 310% allows you to finish this quest much faster.

Bok Dropcertain location is 50,13 outside Orgrimmar, he will give you the kegs.
Once you have exited org entrance head left and you'll see banners.
You dont need to be on the ram to collect the kegs.

The goblin for this quest is located on the way to Bladefist Bay. The goblin is not on the way to Razor Hill like the quest says. Run passed orgrimmar and go start towards the port, you shall the goblin. Also for the original quest you can use your flying mount, however, for the daily you must use the ram.

Not sure who else may have had this issue, but if you click the reigns too quick upon mounting on the ram, it will actually dismount you.

Had this happen on the quest (which I dropped and could pick up again), but I lost the daily because of this glitch.

It seems there may be is a bug. If you use the Ram Racing Reins too early the ram didn't appear and you are not able to finish the quest. You can abandon it and try again. Unfortunately this isn't working for the repeatable one :(

Am I the only one who thinks this "quest" bugs sometimes and the mount simply refuses to eat the apples from the barrels?

Even if I run towards a barrel for good long time it won't always eat it and the Exhaustion counter doesn't reset.

Dunno if its a bug, But I dismissed my ram then jumped on my Flying mount and was able to get keg and finish the quest that way!

I had a very, very annoying bug on the daily that I didn't have the previous years.

I'm used to the ram rarely not eating at some of the buckets, and while annoying it's understandable considering I'm just blazing by it (even though I always make sure to touch the bucket to try and avoid it).

What's not understandable is to arrive at the goblin midways through the quest and him simply refusing to throw me a keg. aprox. 1 min 20 seconds did I spend running around him, through and at him before he finally decided to throw it..

I was the only person there and it's not my internet.

Not the end of the world, but hairpullingly annoying none the less.

Definitely just did this quest in Druid bird form. Got on a ram and hit flight form and was able to do the quest. Pretty sure this is a glitch.

Theres a much easier way to complete this quest, wether it is a bug or not I do not know.

Accept the quest, and then get rid of the Ram buff. Simply then mount up and fly over to Bok Dropcertain and he will chuck you keg as usual.

Makes doing the quest a lot easier and quicker.

It says "on the road to Razor Hill" because that's where he used to be, but they just didnt update the quest text to say hes on the docks road.

Quite frankly, I did this on my alliance Worgen, and their route is fast, almost dead straight and simple.
Whoever came up with this one needs to have their head examined.

This quest looks bugged. Looking for Bok and without the ram i got the keg. I delivered it three times and got quest completed. No ram, no time, Easy money... err... easy tokens.

ok so we all like to get the most coins right? well unless your a dark iron dwarf haha. well hear the trick (horde) where the quest giver ram master ray is there is a bucket of apples just behind him. there is one by the blockade. where the lvl 60 archers are at there a whats looks like to me a path way from ram master ray and the dual ground there is a bucket there so by them you have about eh 30-40 points. eath the apples there .. you will have to go into soem boxes asnd some cati. go pass the dualing grounds adn thru 2 rocks and keep going straight. you will see a metal roadblick.inbetween that and the cliff there is another bucket of apples this one is about 75 points . just head down the small slple and go about 5 yards he will hit ya with a beer keg hit the apples you just got. ans just re trace the path ya went. rinse lather and repeat( this is a not very good map but it will do)http://www.wowhead.com/maps?data=14:505126455145433143 this is soem what where the buckets are i hope thsi helps . sorry for spelling errors i sucks at it. enjoy the endless coinds. if you do this with out hitting anythign or getting fateige you will get about eh 10-15 coins 20 if you do good(top score for me is 22)

Helpful Tomtom waypoints for horde quest:

/way Durotar 50.34 13.46 Receive keg

You will realistically only need the middle two apple buckets, but the other two waypoints are listed below for them. Just run back and forth between these 4 points while beating your ram like a red headed step child (use the macro below on your action bar). Be sure to enable minimap waypoints and set your clear waypoint distance to zero so they don't get cleared when you run by them the first time. You will see the buckets appear as green dots your minimap. I found this helpful because they would often not load quickly enough when I was running fast on the ram so I couldn't see exactly where they would be. The receive and deliver points err on the side of caution.

Don't forget to use this macro on your bar for the action button so you can steer with your mouse:

(I originally posted this for the alliance side quest and noticed there was no tomtom love on the horde page so I changed the points and posted info again over here. Having done the quest on both factions, I will say the horde version is much more difficult due to the weird route you have to take through all the huts and the constant duels going on outside Org. No one seems to know the easiest route on horde side, whereas for alliance, everyone was following the same easy route right along the road back and forth. The only issue with the quest for ally side is the annoying trees in your face.)

For the daily (Horde)
#1 - you want to be in a gallop (red) the entire time. Spam the button. The only exception at the bottom

#2 - that means you want to hit the apple buckets.
Bucket 1 -Behind the tent where you pick up the quest, inside the fence
Bucket 2 -Behind the two fires in the camp behind the fence,
Bucket 3 - Left side of the road near the keg giver (left of a metal barricade),
Bucket 4 - Behind and to the right of the keg giver.

The best route is basically a direct line between these. The last one should (almost always) be skipped - you should turn around early when the keg is tossed, and get back to the third bucket before you reach exhaustion. The first bucket is before the turnin, and you're going by it anyway.

The tricky part of this route is when you're coming back to the little tent and the quest giver and have to turn around. Unlike the other end where you receive the keg and there's lots of room to turn around early, the tent and the fence leave very little room to pull that off.
The -fastest- technique is to jump into the fence and pick up bucket 1, the tickets should register, then turn 180 quickly(mouse turn) and get back out. This is also REALLY hard and you'll probably get caught up on something.
The next fastest, my preferred technique, is to pick up the apple bucket and instead of going through the tent, jump out to the right approximately where the brewfest banner is, keep going right and turn back in after the barricade.
Going through the tent and either making a quick loop and going back in where you came, or making a bigger loop around the barricade like method #2 is significantly slower.

The only time you shouldn't be galloping (in the red) is if one of the apple buckets doesn't register (this can and will happen, even if you run right on top of them)
I haven't had it at bucket 1 yet, but I think there's enough room to make it back to bucket 2 if it fails
If it happens at 2 going to 3, or 3 going to 2, immediately stop clicking the button and hope it drops back to yellow.
If it happens at bucket 3 on the way to the keg giver, you can keep going at full speed and pick up bucket 4 and turn around there

I can't run method 1 perfectly, but I've been told if done right it can give up to 15 kegs (30 tickets)
Perfect run on method 2 should give 13 kegs, 12 on a moderately flawed run
Last two methods are 11 or 12 on a really good run

If you are on Legion pre-quests that take place in Durotar, the area around the Gates of Orgrimmar on down to the docks is phased, and you will not be able to see the apple barrel nor the keg tosser, thus will not be able to complete There and Back Again. This only affects Horde toons around level 100 (WoD level cap) who picked up the Legion pre-quest chain then skipped doing it.

There and Back Again is a pre-req for the ram run dailies, so you won't be able to do those either (and couldn't complete the keg runs anyway).

The Legion pre-quest popped up automatically for my 100s, and I don't know if you can get it again if you drop it. It does not take too awfully long to just finish. There's several quests with a longish scenario tucked in. When you are done, Durotar is back to normal. Don't rush through it, take the time to check out the vendors for toys and other items - this is the only time you can access them.

This list covers the locations for the "There and Back Again" Quest itself, but of course it will work exactly the same for the first quest, "Now This is Ram Racing".

If you've faction changed or had the foresight to keep your 10 second CD Orgrimmar Hearthstone from Legion: The Legion Returns (that leads to the Broken Shore scenario) Durotar is phased and you cannot complete the Ram racing quests, the daily bark for brew quests will still be available after the initial ram quest

The most I was able to get was 16 barrels while trying my best not to get stuck in all the spears and road blocks in Durotar.

This quest has been completely bugged for me. It does not show up on the quest log once I accept it and the panda doesn't chuck the barrel once I reach him.

The barrel racing is such a nice quick bit of xp for alts. I innocently picked up the legion intro quest after making an ally alt and on the way to do brewfest saw the npc and turned it in. Did NOT pick up the next but it changed my phasing. Now I'm stuck and can't get the ram riding and have neither time nor inclination to do the whole Legion quest string atm. How about a Zidormi to turn back time on these stupid phasing issues. Stormwind Keep has the same issue cause they use it for so many damn things.

As of today (20/09/2022) this quest is bugged, unable to pick up kegs (megaton shows up instead). I'll update this comment if it gets fixed.

I have been unable to complete the There And Back Again quest, and the Brew for the Brewfest quests on some Horde characters. As I rode towards the Dranosh'ar Blockade, the Brewfest scenery would disappear, and I could no longer use Apple Barrels, or collect Brew Barrels. I've been able to fix this, by taking the character to Chromie, and selecting the Legion timeline. Then going to Holgar Stormaxe out in front of the Orgrimar gates, and choose the "I've heard this story before" bypass option. After those two steps, those characters have been able to complete the There And Back Again quest, and the Brew for the Brewfest quests.

Its still unfortunately not phased since I'm not in Legion so the NPC doesn't exist for me.. Blizz c'mon its been years. Years and years. I'm a new player, I'd love to complete the holiday quests.

In case that you don't see the NPC tossing you the barrels: you haven't done the Legion intro quest yet. Go back to Orgrimmar to the Warchief's Command Board. Accept the Legion intro quest Legion: The Legion Returns. Fly to the Orgrimmar main gate. Holgar Stormaxe offers you to skip the entire intro questline and directly teleports you to Dalaran. In Dalaran turn in the quest, receive your Dalaran Hearthstone toy and use the portal back to Orgrimmar. Now Durotar is in the right phase to do the Brewfest quests.

If you have the quest Call of Duty it will phase you out and you will not be able to get the kegs.
