This quest was a bit challenging compared to most. The close proximity of mobs, the constant patrols, and the somewhat quick respawn times here can cause you to become overwhelmed rather quickly. I had to corpse hop into the building that Shadowmaster Grieve was in due to the amount of mobs constantly in front of the entrance. Might be a good idea to bring a buddy along for this one.

Can be tough solo. Be sure to watch out for the roaming hunters that usually wander with 2 or 3 other mobs. If the hunters see you, the entire group will come after you.

Not worth doing unless you really want the rewards. This is damn near impossible to solo at the low 60's. The respawn rate is insanely high, and the aggro radius is gigantic.

Completed as a 65 heavy frost mage. You can reach the area by riding up the slope directly behind the quest giver. By using this method you skip many mobs and dont have to clear as much to get to Shadowmaster Grieve. Fairly straight forward with the exception of the patrol. Got caught right in the middle of it twice and only survived once. As long as you watch out for it though you should be fine. Respawns aren't nearly as bad as described above.

Not recommended solo at pre-65, maybe even pre-66. The problem is two roaming patrols of 3 mobs + 1 minion, which will have a very large aggro radius if you are lower level.

It is not too hard to run out of the area and reset them if you get spotted, but you may find yourself doing this over, and over, and over again since avoiding them is quite tricky. You can attempt to clear all the single pulls so you have breathing room to avoid the patrols, but there are a lot of mobs and they respawn quickly.

The easiest way is just to kill the patrols, either by burning down 1 mob at a time while resetting them, or finding a group. But "easiest" is a relative term; this is one of the more tedious quests in Terokkar.

This is not that difficult. I was albe to do complete with my level 64 Warlock in less than 30 minutes. Kill the executioners and the summoners by drawing them outside use you imp to give you ectra stamina and to have him attack first. Do not go inside the walls. To kill the Grieve, soulstone youself, take out the void pet, run into the building and sacrifice the void half way through. Jump up on the rocks inside the building close to the walls. The mob will kill you; res yourself; use first aid; bring back the imp; have the imp attack the Grieve and focus all your spells on him. This should do it. You may die but you will complete the quest.

I found this quest really easy as a 65 warrior, no harder than any other in Tero. There's no real strategy to completing it, just avoid pats, and pull with your ranged weapon a lot. The "boss" is easy, I didn't aggro the mob hes right next to, I dont know if that's supposed to happen.

Overall, easy quest as 65 warrior.

This quest isn't that difficult but you can waste a LOT of time if you do not watch the patrols. There are two sets of them (3 mobs each), so just pull your mobs carefully and you will be fine. I found silencing the summoners to pull them farther away helped a great deal. Shadowmaster Grieve (65) does not link with the Advisor so it's just like killing a normal mob.

I soloed this as a 63 Shaman. You just need to be patient, smart and careful. I picked off mobs around the outer perimeter.
Clear out the mobs in front of the main building, near the summoning circle and be careful of the patrolling hunter (and gang...they WILL gang bang you. Ouch! ><)
I slipped into the building and killed Grieve at 40, 39.

Takes some time, but it is something you can definitely solo. :)

Hi,

to kill Grieve with my squishy lv65 mage, I somewhat cheated: I ran straight into the building where he's in and died in that big room. Then I corpse-ran back and respawned myself as far away behind him as I possibly could (you can jump onto these rocks where that wooden thing is).

Thankfully I was out of his aggro range and when I nuked him from behind I didn't even aggro his gnomish advisor. Coward.

Killing the executioners and the summoners was easy afterwards.

It is a hard quest, but it is soloable with my lv63 hunter. I died 2-3 times becaues of those hunters.

Soloed as a 64 Rogue. Only really gets hard when the patrol aggros you (pretty large group of both melee and casters). Grieve is pretty easy as onlg as you can CC the Advisor.

Quest is a bit tricky, I soloed as a 63 Arms Warrior but I had to ghost walk behind Grieve. It was funny, I killed him and he respawned in less than a minute, litterally. I was just fighting the warlock near him and he just reapeared, so be careful and be hasty once hes dead.

easily soloed as a 67 full fire mage...just had to pyro em from 41 yards and nuke em like hell. tho Grieve was a little rough nearly died while killing him. but sill it was too easy should save this quest till your 65 or higher.. and bring along a friend if u wana would be much faster that way (Wildhammer btw)

watch for the respond on greives. after i killed him i killed the caster on the otherside of the room and then mana upped. greives respond must have been a minute because he killed me before i could drink

As you guys mentioned, is a tough quest to solo. As regards the Shadowy Summoners, they are followed by their minions. These minions can deal great damage. In my opinion, you should clear them first and then the Summoners, as they have poor health. Good luck guys.

This quest is pretty tough... I'm lvl 66 Shaman. This is what i did.

If you're facing the path leading to the village, climb the rocks to the left. Stop at the burnt out tower with a Summoner under it. Kill the Summoner. Walk along the fence, kill the Executioner. Then there are 2 Summoners and minion at front door to huge building. pull one, pew pew dead. pull the other pew pew dead. Watch out for the wandering Hunter, he goes IN the big building... so its best to wait for him to come out. When you are at the door, pull the Summoner pew pew dead. when you enter, Grieve will be standing not too far from the door with a caster type. Just immediately attack him, dead, then kill the caster next. The Summoner will not aggro if you stay far enough away. All done! Did not die during.

Had trouble as a level 64 Holy Paladin. Just didn't have the DPS to take out the mobs fast enough before they started respawning.

So I used an invisibility Potion just before the entrance to the building ... had nifty stopwatch equipped. Sprinted inside and to the far side of the building and up the logs to the far wall. Didn't aggro anything once the Pot wore off. Used a Ez-Thro dynamite (Small blast radius) that was a reward from a previous quest. Boss and add was an easy kill... then fought my way out to the main door where I bubbled up and ran off.

Solo'd it as a lvl 65 hunter - pet died once and that was when i pulled a hunter, best advice would be to watch what around you when fighting so you dont pull too many.

Very easy quest for me (63 ret pala). Just killed all mobs on my way. Nuked advisor and then Grieve. I died only two times while doing this quest - first time when I aggroed two summoners, and second time when I was writing this comment.

Solo'd as a 63 rogue, combat/ass.

For stealth classes, just sneak past the 2 summoners just outside the building, kill the one inside. Then proceed to Grieve, he goes down fast.

For the rest of it, I just hung out picking off mobs that looked fairly alone near the edges of the area.

-tip to rogues out there: when killing the summoners sap the summoner then kill his/her pet. this can help if u pull another mob accidentally.

Just stealth to Grieve, sap the advisor then pull him to the back of the room.
if the pat comes vanish.

Soloed as a 64 Prot paladin. It was pretty hard, though I never died. The casters are a pain, but I was able to defeat them by pretending to be a Ret paladin, throwing on a 2h mace, judging Crusader, and using SoR. I managed to take down the 2 in front, then switched to sword+board for the minions (and the hunter pat that ran up then), Seal/Judgment of Light were the only way I managed to live through that. Went inside, pulled the other two mobs (besides the advisor and shadowmaster) individually by LoSing them around toward the entrance, and then took the advisor/shadowmaster in 1 pull. I didn't get to loot them though, because a hunter pat came in as I finished and was drinking/eating, and by the time I got done with them the Shadowmaster/Advisor respawned. I just ran away through the compound and bubbled when I got to low health, managed to make it to the Bone Wastes without dying. On second thought, however, a smarter choice would be to run right when you exit the building and go north instead of going through the whole camp to make it out.

Be VERY CAREFUL when you go in to kill the shadowmaster. One of the Hunter/Executioner pats paths into the building every once in a while, which can quickly turn your easy pull of a 60 mob and a 65 mob into a 60 mob, a 65 mob and two 64 mobs.

As a death knight, this was easy. Death grip will be your best friend and keep you from pulling mobs. Most difficult part is Shadowmaster Grieve, you'll have to clear mobs in order to get in. He spawns quickly, so if someone gets in there before you just hang for a minute.

Just solo'd as level 65 Unholy Death Knight. This quest was easier than I thought it would be but still quite difficult if you don't pay constant attn to what's around you. My first attempt did not go well; my second attempt was a piece of cake. What I did the second time was to go in with Frost Presence instead of Blood Presence because Frost gives you more health and an 80 percent boost to armor.

For the summoners with minions, don't death grip the minion. If you do, the summoner will stay behind and cast at you from a distance. Instead, death grip the summoner to you and the minion will follow.

My DPS rotation for every fight was as follows:
Death Grip - Death and Decay - Icy Touch - Plague Strike - then either Blood Boil if fighting one mob OR Pestilence if fighting more than one mob, followed by Unholy Blight - Death Coil and then spam Death Strike and Blood Strike as your cooldowns allow.

Grieves was easy, but what he did in my case was not mentioned anywhere that I recall. I pulled him with Death Grip and did my dps rotation as stated above but after he was dead his advisor started casting at me from a distance. It was odd because the advisor did not attack at all while I was killing Grieves, only after Grieves was dead. I just pulled him with Death Grip and beat him down, no big deal.

I solo'd this as a poor to average geared level 64 DK. What i found worked best for me was to kill the 2 summoners at the entrance to the village then skirt the northern perimeter. Picked off about 6 of both executioners and summoners. Killed the 3 summoners in the entrance to the main building. Healed, then aggro'd Grieve and the advisor. Managed to kill them before getting down to half hp. Then i just ran back the same way killing whatever else i needed.

Also make sure to avoid the hunters, they can ruin your day pretty quick.

64 Demon Lock

To begin, fly into the main building. There is an opening in the ceiling. Fly to one side of the room, where the least enemies are...you shouldn't aggro anything.

Take out the summoner and it's companion. Then go for Shadowmaster Grieve and his advisor.

Getting out of the building is another story. You may die as there are many enemies grouped in front of the building. Work your way to the mountain side which is to the left of the main building. Hardly any of the enemies path along the mountain so it will give you room to regroup between fights. Let the fast rezzing of the enemies work to your advantage. Just keep traveling back and forth along the mountain side taking summoners and executioners as they rez. Its easier than putting yourself in the middle of the camp and getting aggro from everything.

To get to Shadow Master Grieve, if you have a flying mount, you can fly through the hole on top of the roof where he's at. If you don't have a flying mount, enter the keep, and turn right. There seems to be a dead end, but you can go all the way to the end of the dead end and repeatedly jump to get to where he is.

As a 65 Shadow Priest with full 60 pvp gear I EASILY soloed it. I just got my dots up on the adds and bursted the boss down. I see how it would be hard for other classes but its do-able.

I'm going to guess this has been nerfed in Cata. I buzzed through this with a Destro Lock like it was hot butter.

I've done this one many times before with my rogues, shadow priests, a warrior, a mage, and a hunter. This time it was noticeably easier. Either Destro Locks are way OP (that's possible...), or else Blizz has made it easier.

Solo'd as a lvl 65 fury warrior. Reading earlier about dropping through the roof for the Grieve I decided to start there and work my way out. Flew in as close to him as possible and didn't aggro the summoners and their very naughty minions and was able to drop him then took out the summoners. Worked around the wall to the door and started picking them off. Summoners and Executioners are not that hard but still need to try to stay clear of the hunters of they will pull every mob nearby in on you. Almost lost it to that one. As you're looking out of the door of that building start working your way around to the left towards the back side, fewer mobs and easy to pull singles with plenty of both types needed for your tally. Keep working around the back and on towards the front over by the fence until you work around to the next building. By then you should have about all you need except possibly one summoner which is inside the building, kill him and his minion and fly on out.

Do NOT loot the mobs as you go or they will respawn. I made that mistake with the Grieve and nearly regretted it. None of the others respawned after I killed them and he was the only one I looted out of habit.

The way I did it on my L63 Blood Elf Demonology Warlock is by conducting small "raids" by flying in on my flying mount. Pop in, kill some stuff, and when you start to get overwhelmed, pop out. I handled Grieve pretty easily, just pulling out my Succi and letting her CC the advisor. Grieve by himself is pretty easy, even for clothies like me.

The Shadow Council was formed by Gul'dan as a kind of secretive parallel inner sanctum of hand picked loyalists, with multiple layers, or "circles".

Gul'dan is long gone and the membership these days is quite diverse, not so warlock or orc centric as before.

But what gels members together is their devotion to the Burning Legion.

For such a dangerous organisation it seemed to me an opportunity for something epic in TBC and not just this throw away quest offering from a low ranking NPC who suggests the cell be wiped out on an impulse.

Sigh, Warcraft and the Warcraft books and the WoW books are so rich in lore. Just wish more of it found its way consistently into WoW.
