Did they announce FRESH Classic realms too?
RIP Economy. Just ask someone you know for all their Gold. Copy your Char. Give the Gold back :P
That should be the only true way, copy char, 1000g, cleared bag. But now whole economy is dead...
The clone goes to TBC. The economy is unaffected.
Yeah there is a gold limit when you do a realm transfer or faction change. I would hope there is foresight into that for copies.
Fantastic!
Really impressed with the solution. Pick vanilla to new realm (to limit deadness) or go with most of realm to BC, unlock clone later paid option so choice isn't permanent, one level boost per account in some way (I am guessing paid, but... personally think it should be free to encourage everyone who may want to, to try BC Classic) so you can have skipped classic and still take part... perfect solutions, :)Re: other comments, it was not known when the comments were made - but for clarity now, everyone's characters are cloned some time shortly before launch at the same time, so there is no duplication of anything by cloning later, or at different times.
Can't wait to see TBC Economy with all those copies of gold players will dup from classic.
It can still get somewhat abused, although it's going to be somewhat cumbersome. Say, there's a guild of 20 players, trusting each other. One of them wants to clone his character to play both versions at the same time, the rest of the guild simply wants to carry on to tbc.The whole guild merges their gold onto the char that will get cloned, and stop playing until the cloning is available. Once the cloning is done, they each get their gold back and play TBC as they would. However, the one player who'll also play classic will have an absurd amount of gold thanks to his guild mates, giving him somewhat of an advantage over more casuals players who simply cloned their character as they were, without planning any gold shenanigans beforehand. It's not a completely game breaking, but it's still a possibility nonetheless. One way to "counter" this potential abuse would be to simply clone every character, instead of making it a paid service, but in that case players could simply not play classic on their toon and give their gold to the ones playing classic anyway so, it would end up pretty much in the same state.I don't think there's a perfect solution, from the moment cloning is a thing, abusing it is a possibility. Limiting gold cloning could work, but it would also punish a few players who are actually... rich, and didn't trick the system with their guildmates and whatnot. So... no perfect solution ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This seems horribly worded and very vague. Be sure to understand that the snapshot will be something that is set by Blizzard on a certain date and will apply to everyone at the same time. Meaning if Goldmage has 10k gold when the snapshot happens, that's what he will take with him into TBC and if Poorpally has 100g thats what he takes with him. Once the snapshot is set in place any progress you make AFTER or anything you do on Classic wont be taken into TBC. So there wont be gold inflation from trading or anything like that so I see lots of misunderstanding with how snapshot works
The only way this will work is if they take a snapshot of the entire realm, and base everyone's character off of that.Essentially, everyone is frozen at a certain timestamp.
