You need to find and kill 8 dinosaurs.
Most of them are near the Scaletrader Post windrider in Zuldazar
They are elite mobs with ~600k hp

Kil'Tawan & Thunderfoot & Azuresail the Ancient share spawn cd.
Only one of them is active and fightning with Brave Adolescent Direhorn in Savagelands.
So you need to kill the NPC, whichever is active, to be able to find another one.

I also believe that they are not always up.
This achievement is in a quests category and quests for every other NPC don't matter, but
Kil'Tawan & Thunderfoot & Azuresail the Ancient are part of the A Nose for Ptrouble daily quest
And you can get one of 4 daily quests there.
So i assume that if this quest is up, then you can find 1 out of 3 and "kill - respawn another" mechanics works just fine

General info:

All mobs you have to kill are elite, but most of them dont deal any terrible damage, just have a lot of hp.
Respawn timer is very short, around 2-3 minutes, so there's no problem to find them all during a single run.
All dinosaurs are located outside of cities / quest hubs, so Alliance players can hunt for them as well.
Thunderfoot, Azuresail the Ancient and Kil'Tawan (doesnt needed for achievement) share spawn timer, only one can be active at the same time.

Is this bugged on live? I have looked for Thunderfoot and Azuresail for the last three or four days and they are not up. I did look for the other one they are tied with and it's not up either.

Azuresail and Thunderfoot (and Kil'Tawan, who is not required but shares a spawn) have showed up on EU. They do appear to be tied to a world quest - I cannot be certain, because I'm not horde, but they had the "required for a quest" marker on their unitframe, and they weren't there on previous days, so that seems like a safe conclusion to draw.

Kil'Tawan & Thunderfoot & Azuresail the Ancient are up today on US (or at least Stormrage). Killing one spawned the other, so keep killing one of the three til you get yours done!

Completed this today! Kil'Tawan, Thunderfoot & Azuresail share a spawn. When 1 is killed, any of the 3 have a chance to spawn. For me, I had to kill Kil'Tawan & Thunderfoot twice each before Azuresail spawned, so its possible you could have some bad RNG & have to kill these guys multiple times.

If none are up, just keep checking back everyday. Good luck!

Kil'Tawan & Thunderfoot & Azuresail the Ancient were up on EU today, and yes the Pterrodax Egg daily is 'A Nose for Ptrouble', so deffo looking likely that this is the factor that makes them spawn (unless they hotfixed them to spawn).

Just as others have mentioned here, Kil'Tawan, Thunderfoot & Azuresail share a spawn and the one that spawns is random, so keep killing them until you have spawned and killed the ones you need for the achievement.

Respawn time is really fast. Maybe 90 seconds or so. They also have over 600k health and hit relatively hard, so if you're low geared and can't facetank the damage, you might need a friend to help.

Kil'Tawan, Thunderfoot, Azuresail the Ancient share spawn cd. They are not always up, and I do not know the spawn cycle for them.

My experience so far.....

9:45 am Kil'tawan is up and I kill him
Seconds later Azuresail the Ancient spawns and I kill him
Azuresail the Ancient respawns and I kill him again
Azuresail the Ancient respawns and in the process of killing him daily quests reset and he disappears.
10:01 am after quest reset and 0 out of the 3 are up

I have killed Tia'Kiwan about 30 to 40 times over different days when ever I see the quest up. I have never yet seen Kia'Tiwan and do not even know where it spawns. I still have not seen thunderfoot or azursail. Am I missing something, I goto their spawn points but nothing everytime.

Azuresail and Thunderfoot are up today on EU! Rejoice! They share spawn times with each other, as well as with Kil'Tawan. Kill any of the three, to spawn another one!

Just completed this achievement today, seems like it is tied forcefully to the wq Tia'Kawan due to his mate, Kil'Tawan (I presume). I had been looking for Thunderfoot and Azuresail but they never appeared. But when I noticed the elite wq was up, I went to the savagelands again and found Kil'Tawan facing the brave adolescent direhorn; killed her, then aprox. 1min later Azuresail appeared facing the brave direhorn. Killed him, respawned again, killed him again, Kil'Tawan spawned again, killed her, and finally Thunderfoot spawned and killed him to get the cheevo.

Btw, why is the direhorn brave? Is he looking for a fight? Or a date? Hmmmm.

Kil'Tawan is currently up as of right now if anyone is trying to achieve. I just killed her, waiting for rest to respawn.

This was the spawn for me....respawn in between kills was maybe a minute or so. Not long at all: Kil'Tawan, Thunderfoot, Kil'Tawan (twice in a row) and then Azuresail popped up. Achievement complete.

FINALLY. One week of daily checking, waiting for them to show up. Killed Kil'Tawan 4 times and Thunderfoot seven times before I got my longed for Azuresail. Done! :-)

Thunderfoot never spawns for me, it's either Azuresail or Kil'Tawan, and I lost the track how many times I helped the brave adolescent direhorn to kill them both.

The world quest A Nose for Ptrouble everyone says is the spawn for the rares is not true. I have only these In Zandalar and I am Horde.G'Naat, Cleanup Crew,Beachhead,Unending Gorilla Warfare,Atal'Dazar: From the Shadows, Supplies Needed: Tidespray Linen,Small Beginnings, Azerite Madness (Horde one in Zandlar), Bloodbulge,Work Order: Swamp Fish 'n Chips ,and Eggstermination. If anything the quest to trigger would be Eggstermination, but i dont think this is the case. I am on the Kua'fon quests now Room To Grow towards the last 2 days of dailies until i hit the next part of the quest line dailies. Today's Ku'fon quest was to feed him Dino Chow. I checked everyday for weeks for the spawns on and off again but got Azursail and Kil'tawan a long time ago because I didn't know about the force respawn of the 3 together and thats before most of these comments were up. Pretty much had most of everything done except Thunderfoot for months now. Spawns are 1-3 min. Saw Kil'tawan up first, killed it 3x, then Azuresail 2x, Kil'tawan 4x, then Thunderfoot popped last. I started at 12pm and ended at 12:32 pm on Us- Thrall Horde side. So took about 30 min to get all 3.

Alliance: I searched for approximate a week for one of these three to spawn Thunderfoot, Azuresail, and Kil'Tawan.
Confirmed: They share a spawn timer: Once you find and kill one wait for re-spawn to occur it may be the same one or one of the others, repeat until you have downed them all.
Confirmed: No World Quest or special event required, just a matter of checking every day to see if one of the three have spawned.
Unconfirmed: Not sure how long one of the three will stay spawned, I'm assuming it's a 24 hour period from original spawn time.
Unconfirmed: Not sure how long a period before one of the three original spawns. So just keep making the rounds

I can also confirm those 3 share a timer (Thunderfoot, Azuresail, and Nol'ixwan) and if you just keep killing the other 2, "Thuderfoot" will eventually spawn as a gray, smaller Brutosaur. WM was on. There were no WQ in the immediate area - the closest WQ was "Twisted Child of Rezan" which was East of Scaletrader Post at Rootway (East of Ruins).

HandyNotes with BFA Treasures helps a lot. Good Luck!

You can NOT see Azuresail or Thuderfoot if you have world PVP WARMODE turned ON. I was out with an alt that did not have warmode on, and saw Azuresail. I immediately brought my main who needed Azuresail over, and standing in the same spot could not see Azuresail. Swapped back and forth, and the toon with warmode on could not see Azuresail. As soon as I went to an Inn and turned warmode off and went back I could see the mob and kill it.. So after a few kills I finally got both and the Achievement. If you need them TURN OFF WARMODE ! Or you will never see them.

This achievement's criteria manages to contain no less than three spelling mistakes:

1) "Thuderfoot the Brutosaur": the NPC is really called Thunderfoot.
2) "Azuresail the Diemetrodon": the animal has always been called diemetradon.
3) "Sludgecrusher the Anklyodon": the dino species is ankylodon.

Especially in BFA but during Legion as well, they seemed to have skipped the process of proofreading and spell checking.
It won't change my quality or quantity of sleep any time soon, but it remains a fine example of Blizzard caring toward detail nowadays!

update for 8.3: They Fixed "Thuderfoot" to read "Thunderfoot". #2 and #3 still there.

I was camping Thunderfoot and Azuresail for a few weeks as it was the only 2 I needed for the mint. Then today I went to do my check Kil'Tawan was up. As we all know Kil'Tawan, Thunderfoot & Azuresail shares spawn points. So I killed Kil'Tawan and waited. About 3 MINUTES later Azuresail spawned, so I killed it. I thought I'll wait again to see if they really have a 3 min respawn. And they do! Thunderfoot was up just a few mins later. So I thought to wait again and sure as hell Kil'Tawan spawned again just a few mins later. So I killed it again and 3 mins later Thunderfoot spawned. They spawn randomly,so just keep going!

I wish I knew this weeks ago when I started the camping. OH and btw - there is no WQ for this. I've been checking twice everyday if a WQ was up for them.

During this daily quest I recognized the quest ID is the same for Kil'Tawan / Thunderfoot / Azuresail the Ancient to spawn. Simply kill whatever dino is up when helping Kua'fon during and abandon your quest, another dino will reappear during the same daily.

If you haven't been finding Thunderfoot, Kil'Tawan, or Azuresail at all, try toggling War Mode on or off and looking again.

I saw a comment saying they only saw them spawn with warmode OFF, however I have played this entire expansion with War Mode turned off and I had NEVER seen Thunderfoot or the other 2 in the area. Recently I decided to get into PvP and when I turned war mode ON(Greymane server), they all spawned faithfully about every 5 minutes. The comment mentioned earlier in my post was downvoted because someone else noted they saw the dinos spawn with it ON, as I did. However, that person seemed sure so it may just depend on your server as to if they will show up with it on or off. As for Greymane, a previously PvE server (if that matters), they have ONLY spawned for me with it ON.

If nothing else, changing to War Mode will change the mob spawns. Happy hunting!

I've been looking for Thunderfoot (67.73 29.03) and Azuresail (67.10 26.57) for the past 5 days now.

Alliance - Stormrage - Warmode (on).

I've gone to every /way location mentioned here. Nothing. I've gone back to kill the others hoping it might trigger a spawn from either or. Nothing. Kil'Tawan doesn't even appear on those days. So for people saying, "you got to kill Kil'Tawan, or Azuresail, or Thunderfoot to spawn the other" is frustrating when it seems, Kil'Tawan, doesn't even exist lol.

I've gone back and forth from all spots for about 15 minutes a day for people claiming they have quick spawn times (if you kill the other), but if the 3 aren't there then how can I spawn them?

It seems the only way these spawn (I can't confirm, just a theory) is ONLY when the Kil'Tawan World Quest is up, for the Horde side.

Going to turn off warmode and see if they spawn. Someone mentioned that did. Going to test out this theory. Good luck guys....

Hardest part of this achievement is killing Thunderfoot and Azuresail the Ancient, because they share a spawn with each other and with another mob called Kil'Tawan (unrelated to this achiev), BUT there might be periods of time where neither of the 3 mobs are up (people have suggested this might be linked with dailies in the Kua'fon mount questline).

Basically, you can either try to get this done while also doing Kua'fon (questA Nose for Ptrouble), or you need to come to the Savagelands and check for either of the mobs on a daily basis until either of them is up. I have completed the Kua'fon questline and had no progress towards the achiev from it.

If you find either of the mobs up you basically have to kill it and patrol to the spawn points of each 3 until the right mob respawns. Spawn rate is quite fast, so this won't take long unless you're really unlucky with the right one spawning. I killed Thunderfoot twice before Azuresail the Ancient spawned.

I had some trouble finding Thunderfoot and Azuresail. Kill Kil'Tawan if none are up. It might take a while before Thunderfoot spawns, but keep the faith and be patient, and this will be done eventually! I think for me it was 4 Azure, 4 Kil'Tawan, before Thunderfoot finally spawned.

So for the past three days, there have been hordie druids spam-killing the dimetrodons in the area. They'd absolutely pull Azuresail - if it was up. Neither Azuresail, Thunderfoot, or Kil'Tawan are up, and haven't been when I've checked multiple times as I've been chasing down achievements all over Zandalar.

This may be the only one I have left to do. :(

This was probably one of the most frustrating/hardest achievements I've done... at least in recent memory.

Rediscovered this achievement about 2 months ago as I started working on BfA things I never got to. Well, getting everything but Thunderfoot and Azuresail was easy enough (somehow I already got Kil'Tawan). I started flying by the area every few days at first. Then every day. Checking to see if certain WQ were up based on comments which I now believe are false. Pretty sure only A Nose for Ptrouble daily must be active (at least that's what HandyNotes says). Problem is I'm not Horde and can't see those dailies. Still, I checked the Wowhead page for World Quests every day: https://www.wowhead.com/world-quests/bfa/na

So many weeks pass with me starting to fly by every day. They are never up. FINALLY today, on 9.2 patch day, I fly by and see Kil'Tawan is up! Yay! I kill Kil'Tawan and wait a minute and then Thunderfoot appears. Yay! Then another minute and Kil'Tawan is up. I kill Kil'Tawan again. Then Kil'Tawan again. Then Kil'Tawan again. THEN KIL'TAWAN AGAIN! This dude spawns 6 times, and Thunderfoot 2 times before FINALLY Azuresail spawns. So nerve-wracking and I was cursing Blizzard every minute as I waited for the next spawn. I mean I had read one of the three has a chance to spawn each time. But seeing it in action made me realize how stupid a system it is.

So in summary: Just wait till Patch day (or weekly reset). And also... dumbest achievement ever.

if u r alliance, u dont need a horde character to do that quest, all u need to do is to go there check if one of those 3 mobs is up

the quest being up is just a trigger, no need to see or finish it

If you're playing past the Dragonflight expansion and wondering why you never see Azuresail, Kil'Tawan, or Thunderfoot spawn it is because they are locked behind a 30+ day achievement called How to Ptrain Your Pterrordax. These three named mobs spawn during a daily quest associated with that achievement called "A Nose for Ptrouble", but that daily quest will not show up until you begin this long journey by first looting Pterrordax Egg from Bloodraged Pterrordax at coordinates 40 16 in Dazar'alor in Zuldazar (the main Horde city on the Zandalar continent). It took me about one hour to find this egg in 2023 at level 70 but earlier comments make it sound like it can sometimes take even longer but the mobs are easy to kill and respawn quickly.

It appears that this is a Horde-only questline. I was mistaken in believing that perhaps these mobs were somehow tied to the PvP-flagged assaults on the zone of Zuldazar, but this is not the case. Good luck!

I have zero idea what do to here. Been trying for this for years, only Thunderfoot left.

Kill Sludgecrusher to force spawns? Doesn't work
Kill the Brutosaur that's right where Thunderfoot spawns? Nada
Kill King K'tal to force spawns? Nope
Kill every Adolescent and Bull Direhorn & Venomous Diemetradon in sight? Try again!

I am a pure Alliance character...but recently made a horde toon to get the 2 questline mounts in Zandalar (and went and did all quests for the Two Sides to Every Tale mount, yay!). Got the Pterrordax Egg and started questline. Now today A Nose for Ptrouble is up...both WM on and off, none of the 3 rares are up (Thunderfoot, Kil'Tawan, or Azuresail the Ancient)

What the heck do you have to do to get this stuff to spawn?

I just wanted to put up a more recent experience with this achieve. (12/15/23)
I had given up trying to kill the last two dinosaurs, (Azuresail & Thunderfoot), that I needed for this achievement during BFA, as my wowhead research suggested it was tied to the Pterrordax Egg questline.
Back when BFA was current I spent countless hours hunting for the pterrordax egg that started the quest for Kua'fon, no luck. On/off during shadowlands when I was waiting in que's I would try to farm this egg yet again, no luck. This past week I was going through some unfinished Achievements killing some time & thought I would try to farm this egg yet again. I went after the Bloodraged Pterrordax near Dazzaralor, expecting to spend mindless hours trying to get this egg. I killed 3 birds and there's my egg!
Started up the dailies from Kua'fon & every single day I checked the two spawn points for my missing dinos, no dice. Not quite a week later (today) I get the latest daily A Nose for Ptrouble and he was in the "Slough", (I had had this daily previous days with no luck on dinos). After I rescued him, but before turning in the daily I checked the two spawn points for my dinos. Azuresail was present, no Thunderfoot. Then I remembered seeing in the wowhead comments about a particular World Quest possibly being an influence as well, Tia'Kawan "Tia'Kawan". It was active, so I went and killed it for good measure & went back to look for thunderfoot and moments later he had also appeared. There is hope, they do exist.

For anyone doing this post March 2024, I can add in on Azuresail and Thunderfoot. You don't need to be on the Kua'fon quest or have the daily. I just completed the achievement now on a toon that did not have Kua'fon (and was Alliance at any rate). However, there is SOMETHING that has to happen. For me, it was just "that particular day". I camped it for 2 days and never once did any of the three spawn. But on day 3 (after daily quest reset), they all spawned and the respawn was roughly every 2 minutes continuously because I kept killing them to see. No Assault was going on, and the only world quest close to the area was "Bramblewing" which I would not think would affect it.

This is probably a weird coincidence, but I wrote a suggestion ticket yesterday about increasing their spawns and today I've seen Thunderfoot and Azuresail spawn on multiple servers constantly and I haven't seen those two spawn in ages.
