I don't know about my fellow Ret Paladins, but I'm losing my %^&* over this passive and I really hope it makes it into the game. There's been several times that I've had to pull the last 5% of the boss down almost by myself given the fact that we can ignore a lot of mechanics that may end up wiping the raid at the last second. This is just going to make it more fun and flavorfully exciting.

I, for one, welcome this passive and salute anyone who is willing to help us parse by nobley "sacrificing" themselves at the most opportune time.

so when a party member dies ret gets a mini enrage.
what happens when multiple people die do they stack or is it 20 and 30% at all times

With the new legendary items being added in Legion, a lot of them having different types of Resurrection-type effects, and this proccing from fellow player deaths... Mwahaha :D

Despite constant idiots "Standing in the fire", I still find this to be a terrible talent, for PvE at least. It's worthless in single-player scenarios.

Does anyone know if there's an ICD for this? Just tested it and when I had my friend kill himself the 2nd time it didn't proc

And now in Shadowlands this cool Passive became a bad Aura that unlike the other auras doesn't benefit anyone except you...

And on top of that you have to select this Aura over another when it's a buff comes from something that every party member will try to avoid at all costs!

Oh, and Auras, as of the pre-patch, are on our beloved friend, the GCD!
Last time I felt so mistreated as a Retribution paladin Ghostcrawler was saying I was being "nerfed to the ground baby"

Turning this passive into an active ability is ridiculous. What kind of paladin do you have to be to see someone about to die, and instead of thinking "oh I can save them", go "oh I should turn on Retribution aura so I get a damage buff when they die"?

I don't see why they wouldn't include the old retribution aura effect into this. The one with miniscule reflect damage. Then it'd at least do SOMETHING before someone dies. Which you could maybe have helped to prevent by not being in this entirely worthless aura.

Dragonflight here. Just letting everyone know that yes this aura is still completely useless for a holy paladin. It's better to stack devotion aura even with a prot pala in the group because of aura mastery. Additionally, aura mastery for Retribution Aura ("increase the duration of Avenging Wrath by 50%") means you get a 12-sec AW when someone dies. So you would plan for someone to die, use aura mastery just before, and get a few extra seconds of AW for their life sacrifice. Great stuff.

After the 10.0.7 rework, Retribution Aura became an Aura that triggered a decaying 5% increase damage and healing on all party members, when a single member got hit for more than 30% of their total HP in a single hit. The decay lasts for 30 seconds and the ICD is 30 seconds from the moment it procs.

In theory, this means it could have 100% uptime. In reality, it has around 40%~ uptime depending if the tanks play around it or not.

Hopefully Ret aura gets changed to something that procs reliably without having to do obnoxious stuff (like tanks facing away from the boss) to proc it.
