Spent basically this whole quest chain holding back the tears. But as Korgran shut down I just grieved and cried. What a beautiful little questline.

I haven't felt like this for a questline since WotLK's Crusader Bridenbrad chain. Daresay, it might be my favorite since. To say I teared up would be an understatement.

It's very apparent that someone (or multiple people) at Blizzard had the genuinely brilliant idea to model this around the slow decline of an elderly loved one to the effects of memory loss and cognitive failure — gradual at first, but progressive. To anyone who has sadly experienced those moments with someone close, the allusions found here are very pointed, in the most heartbreaking way. In those affected, there are fleeting moments of clarity and wit, but ultimately the disease wins battle after battle.

The breakaway success here, and what makes this an absolutely legendary story, is the way Urtago shows boundless patience and kindness towards Korgran, forgiving every moment he forgets places they've been, things that meant so much, and even her name time and time again. She continually offers grace, knowing it's never personal, and is merely the way this story goes with the cards life dealt them. Urtago shows love and compassion 'til the finish, wanting only the best close to Korgran's long and storied life. He couldn't have asked for a better companion to walk him towards his end.

I'm so so glad this is part of the Earthen unlock, because all the more people will be "forced," in a way, to share in this wonderfully-written and touching series of quests that prove once again one of the many reasons WoW has enjoyed the longevity it has: because it's not afraid to step away from the poop quests to tell a meaningful allegory.

(To anyone who felt things because of this quest — especially if the pain is recent — others share that same hurt. Don't beat yourself up. You're not alone, and you're doing the best you can.)

Woof. Lost my grandmother to dementia several years ago. This was raw to sit through. It's very clear that whoever the primary writer was for this chain has experienced that same hardship in their life. It's too close to the mark to not be personal. Strength and peace to anyone with a loved one fighting that battle.

One of the best quests of the entire game, it had me in tears. Farewell, Korgran. I won't forget you.

By the way, he remains there as a "statue" even after the quest is done. I really like when quests have a meaning. I will visit him for sure from time to time. :')

Came back to this questline at the point of gathering materials for the lantern to get me the last few steps to 80. Extremely glad I did, its resonances will stay with me whenever I'm in Dorn. I might even set up a chair and pass some time next to Korgran.

This was a great and memorable quest line. The innuendo of a morning rise did add some levity, as did the tooltip for the quest reward (in the context of innuendo).

I imagine many people will be on autopilot and miss why they're collecting these items and handing them in... I'm guilty of that also at many times and wonder what other touching quests I've overlooked!

As someone who's lost family to dementia, this quest hits especially hard.
I get the feeling whoever was behind it's design knows what it's like all too well.

Made me super sad. Already when I knew that we will accompany him to his final resting place. Seeing the dementia made it harder, had to hold back tears several times...but at the end no chance....sitting here crying like a baby. Rest in Peace Korgran and Rest in Peace Dad <3

I dinged to level 75 turning in the quest to gather flowers. I feel like that was sort of a way to honor his memory, being the "champion" and helping others in need.

This whole questline hit hard. My grandmother died fairly recently after a long losing battle with Alzheimer's. In a way, it was a relief when she passed, since she had become such a different person, and was in so much pain. I feel like this questline helped me grieve her in a way that Alzheimer's prevented at the time.

This brought tears to my eyes.
It reminded me of my sister who, two years ago, departed with this dignity after battling with cancer for some time.
Her choice for euthanasia gave her and us, some time to share precious memories, share our love and say our goodbyes, on our own terms.
How can you be against something so beautiful...?

Description

It is time for the ceremony, <name>. Please place the bowl of ashenfolds by Korgran and then hand him the horn. Once the ceremony concludes, I will be the new caretaker. Then I will have to say a final farewell to my friend. Korgran will shutdown peacefully, knowing we were here by his side in the place he loved most--something I wish and hope to have when it is my time. My core is mud, but it is a great honor to stand here with him... and with you.
