This quest is absolutely ^&*!ing atrocious.

Spent 34 mins killing 22 goliaths to finally get the trophy.

It will never be worth doing this quest for the pitiful 75 rep you end up getting for it.

Dailies give 75 rep, while events give 50 - 75 rep. In the average time you have to farm this low drop rate item, you could have easily done 2+ events and gotten more rep that way. The ratio of minutes to rep for this quest is not worth it. Just do an event.

Update 22 Jan:

Threat Dailies

Reputation gain increased from 75 to 125.
Coalescing Visions increased from 50 to 250.

This quest now accordingly gives 125 rep and 250 coalescing, while an event gives 50 - 75 rep and 11 - 19 coalescing. Based on player feedback, it seems to take an average of 30 minutes to do this quest. Until they improve the average drop rate for this quest, doing a couple of events is still much more time-efficient for rep. For coalescing, it's up to you to decide if it's worth it.

(Personal opinion: They also increased the lesser vision daily reward to 1500 coalescing up from 1000, the other quicker dailies also now give 250 coalescing, and you're time-gated anyway as to how far you can rank up your cloak. I don't think it's worth the time until its drop rate is adjusted.)

For event locations, they vary per day so just copy the waypoints from Wowhead's daily "Today in Uldum" post on the front page.

So after killing about 5-6 and asking chat (universally $%^&*ing about quest) I came here. After looking at comments I started counting. Another 13 before I got the "trophy". So 20ish to complete.

I can understand wanting some "Flavor" in quests. But since a "normal elite" quest is 5 or so Elites something like this should be on a logarithmic upscale after about 4 kills.

I can only describe the design of this quest to be repetitive and dull.

The drop rate is low. Expect to fly between the east and west side of the platform over waiting for the respawn.

Drop rate is RNG as usual. I got mine on the 5th kill, a guy I was helping needed 13. The goliaths are the large Hydralisk-looking things. They can be found in the temples or out wandering the sands.

Took about 12 kills for me. Fairly frustrating quest as low drop rates from semi-rare "group" mobs really have no place in this era of WoW.

There are some quick-kill spots for Aqir Goliaths, e.g.: 30, 61 where there are plenty of friendly NPCs helping you out. Another good one is 35, 66 and 32.5, 69.4.

You can also drag other, patrolling goliaths into these to speed this up even further.

I thought something was wrong after I killed 3 and looked this up, seems just very low droprate. After reading the comments I kinda feel lucky I got it after the 6th mob. I don't like these grind-heavy/ low droprate dailys where you could potentially spend hours on for little reward.

the so called "rares" are more common then the droprate of this stupid quest.. did it once but never again.. i even dont get it why it is still called "Rare" ingame while they are up every like 5 minutes.. and a quest like this takes hours and isnt "rare" but this quest should be called "Rare"

Utter & complete waste of time. Drop rate is more than pathetic If this sort of Q is the best Blizz can come up with after all these years then it's a very poor show.

And I thought the Eyes of the Empire mobs yesterday was bad... took me 27 kills...

Poor spawn rates and poor drop rates, seriously. @#$% this company treating the game like a F2P.

SOLO THIS QUEST! Like so many of these 8.3 quests/dailys the drop rate is terrible and it is first come first serve. Cooperation just makes thing take longer. As soon as I started soloing, I got it within 5.

Agree about the low drop rate. Best place I found, if server is quiet, is Ruins of Ammon. The npcs there are fighting the Goliaths so they are not at full health and they go down pretty quick with the npcs helping to fight them. Not many Goliaths there. So best to clear them. Then go do the events or other dailies in the area and return.

Why do they need to make everything such a chore? Jesus Christ just up the drop rate or lower the health of those mobs.

I must have gotten lucky, I got it on the third kill.

These guys are pretty easy to kill, they start spraying the poison stuff in front of them. Just move to the side, they stand there for a minute shooting out poison the other way. Hit em from the side. Rinse and repeat and they go down easy.

I've found it consistent sticking with the Ruins of Ammon. While doing laps killing for the Goliath, I wind up doing rares etc. which are quite often relevant. My drop rate is normally between 4 to 7. I've found that if I bother with other areas, well, just NO as the drop rate is as bad as the majority of comments state.

I killed about 4 goliaths, then got the quest item from Titanus Egg. Not sure if the drop rate is better from this event.

Morale's been down at the camp lately. Funny how getting chewed on by some bugs can spoil the mood of a place. I've got an idea to perk the troops back up, though. We need a trophy! See if you can get me the head of one of those big tanky-looking ones so we can put it on display to show these bugs that we mean business! Just try to make sure it's not too mangled, okay?
