Does anyone know what happens to the portal if you complete this quest? Does it remain open, or do you lose the use of it forever?

There really needs to be a portal back. I accidentally clicked it, now I have to fly all the way back..

I thought the completion text of the quest was amusing, "Silithus, not such a great place, eh? We get a lot of you from there..."

Kind of a head nod from the designers to the fact that the only 55-60 zones in the game are Silithus and Blasted Lands, and Silithus wasn't redone for the Cataclysm. As a result, Silithus is one of the last relics of vanilla-style questing in the game- much more grindy and slow going exp wise than Blasted Lands. I can see a lot of people starting out in Silithus, doing a few quests, getting sick of it, and taking the portal to Blasted Lands. I know I did.

SOLUTION:

If you can't pick up this quest as I had problems with as well, look for this quest down south-east cave

(The npc is inside the cave on right side, this wont solove the problem for now why you could not take this quest probably, but it will give you the lore master achievement for this area!)

If you're level 90 and phased to the invaded Blasted Lands, but wish to complete low level quests, speak to Zidormi (48.2, 7.2).

She will phase you to the old version of Blasted Lands.

This also shows the green version of the dark portal, which can be entered to access Hellfire Peninsula without the City portals. However, the reverse is not possible.

The main building has 1 flag outside the front and the map shows another inside. That is wrong.

I found the final flag in the South East corner of the campus, on a trail heading out of the area, near the FP.

This is confusing. In Real Life the "KEEP" is normally the main building in .a castle. In the game, the KEEP is the whole campus.

NOW - someone tell me where the turn in is, because the map says that is inside the keep too :(

I have not completed the quest, the portal is not working? dropped an picked up again so.......have no other way to get to eastern kingdoms? Alliance toon started in the islands so.....

Quest worked fine for me. Lvl 58 having done nothing whatsoever in Silithus. Nice mage 'n nice portal that makes up for the endless foot-trek to Silithus :-)

Blasted Lands is getting phased already at level 10 nowadays despite the zone's start level is 15 thanks to the level squish (not!). So unless you want to get instantly attacked by two Iron Horde orcs after using the portal, you should do this quest at level 45+.

Also Zidormi will always give you the latest phase of a zone upon returning to it despite leaving it prephased. This is so irritating when needing the other phase.
