When the second ship docks, you want to get inside of the hull that's behind the safe-looking door. There's a tiny walkway to get behind it. Just be careful, at the bottom of the ship is a drop hole into the water. If you go out, you won't get credit for "Securing the Darkbreak Cove"

The quest has to be bugged out. The top hatch always appears closed. Ive entered through the bottom and road around the trip about 4 times now and still havent gotten credit for boarding it. All the NPCs fade in and out throughout the voyage also. It makes me ALMOST wish I was gonna be one of the people that dont get cataclysm until xmas, that way a few bugs might be ironed out at least...

Yup. Seems this quest is bugged on Alexstrasza as well. Cant get into ship when it first docks and you never get credit for entering the ship later.

It seems to be bugged even if you manage to get inside the ship. I tried swimming up the hole in the bottom of the boat when it was docked, since I couldn't get in through the main door, and I still didn't get credit for anything. Also tried swimming through the windows, which I was able to do, and still no credit.

If someone who is able to do this quest would please leave the NPC's name, one could use the "/target" command and the "/interact with object" command to get this quest done.

the reason npcs disappear cause when u arrive at the cove they get out thats why you see them all on land, plus the quest giver, just its bugged and doesnt give you credit, sometimes the npcs disappear before their supposed to be, so just move on for now.

This quest is bugged. The sub door won't open, and if you manage to get in you don't get the "Board the Pincher X2 once it arrives" quest credit.

ok if this quest is bugged for you as it was for me, try the horde ship if you are alliance. you might get flagged but just stay out of sight and let the hordies do it for you. happy hunting :)

You can get by this quest to continue the chain:

If you follow the X2 when it enters the cove, it will clear Ozumat (the giant octopus) out of the way and make the cove safe for you to enter. Just swim all the way in and talk to the one quest giver who has the yellow question mark above his head.

Based on comments attached to the Horde version of this quest, the perpetual glitching of it has been fixed by today's restart (Friday December 10th).

Can someone please confirm whether this is the case for Alliance also?

The quest is now working properly on Malfurion.

To complete the quest, stay on the ship until the Pincer, a submarine, docks next tot he ship, then board the sub. You can board from the top off the ship or you can swim up into the bottom opening of the sub from the water while it is docked. If you board the ship go downstairs to the belly of the sub (where the water hole is located). You recieve credit for boarding either way.

Next simply wait on the sub. They will travel a short distance then they will attack a monster. Once they are finsihed, you will automatically get credit for the second part of the quest, then you will be teleported to the NPC "Captain Glovaal" in Darkbreak Cove where you can turn in the quest.

Like with the others, the Verne bugged out on me and I wandered aimlessly around the Abyssal Depths wondering where I was supposed to go. Turning around to see if the submarine was still there (it wasn't), I decided to wait for another one and hope I got the event then. So I waited, and got on the submarine, and it took me to Darkbreak Cove. Turns out I hitched a ride on the Alliance submarine.

It all went well, though. For some reason, the Alliance sub was totally not bugged, and so I actually finished the quest that way. Must have been weird, though, for those Gnome submariners to work with a Tauren Druid just standing there ...

tl;dr Horde sub bugging out on you? Pretend to be Alliance!

EDIT: Btdubs, for those of you Hordelings who ended up at Darkbreak Cove like me-- Tenebrous Cavern's entrance is at . It's pretty much where the cave picture is on your map.

When you get aboard, go to the bottom level to hear the dialog.

So, turns out the pool of water on the bottom level of the X2 is exactly what it looks like. Don't jump in it or you'll have to fly/swim back to the entry point.

So it bugged for me on Archimonde and I could not get into the door of the sub.

HOWEVER, I did just stand on the outside. The sub went under the water and completed everything while I just stood on it. As long as you don't jump or swim, you will stay on the top of the sub while it does it's thing.

I got all the quest criteria and completed the quest this way.

Alright, first off in order to get credit for this quest, you must first get the quest from captain taylor, which is above surface,

By the way, This is optional (If the quest is bugged on your server) i suggest getting the quest from the a taunka guy in the ship, which is named Toshe Chaosrender

and you get the quest The War has Many Fronts

Thats the quest to go to deepholm, so there fore you wont have to be waiting on blizzard to fix the bug.

Now on the main topic,

Once you get the quest from Captain Taylor Wait for the submarine to arive, (also theres a little gnome where the ship arrives, hes not on the submarine but on the ship where you got the quests from, you can clear your bags a bit.

Now, get on the ship and the hatch should open, go in it and go to the side, or any side, doesen't matter.

Go down the stairs and go in the middle (Not the Exact middle because in the middle is a hole, if you go in it you will fall out of the ship.)

Just simply stay in the middle till you get to the darkbreak cove/cave and there ya go! you should get credit for scouting the cave. And the next chain of quests start from there, good luck!

The First Lieutenant on Start Trek TNG is William and is Number One.

Don't be silly like me and get too close to the windows. I was all excited and trying to see everything as the sub went through the water, and when I tried to get closer to one of the big port windows to get a better look at something, I went straight through and was left behind. Had to abandon the quest and swim all the way back to the ship to retry.

I got on the sub, behind the door and found my way down to the bowels of the ship. I received credit for securing the cove and saw the "?" for the turn-in on the mini map- but there was no teleportation into the cove.

I quickly swam out of the sub through the hole in the very bottom and up into the cove. If you don't get teleported to the turn in, I assume the sub will return you to the ship.

The submarine is not always there, it will appear every 1-2 minutes.
The submarine will appear on the PORT side of the same ship you pick the quest up from.
(PORT: when you're standing in the middle of the ship, and look to the bow(front) of the ship, port is on your LEFT side)
on the same side a gnome is standing near the edge (a repair-vendor).
Pick up the quest, look port side, wait for about 1-2 minutes, and the submarine will appear.
(you don't hear anything, but you'll get a red "yell" chat-line, and of course you'll see the big sub in front of you docking with your ship ;) )
Walk on board, enter the door on top, (walk around the little wall in the middle right behind the door) go downstairs, and then wait at the front porthole/window and enjoy the show :)

If you ride down outside the sub and don't get credit for the 2nd part of the quest, wait for the ship to come back and swim through the window or the hole in the bottom and you'll get credit for the 2nd part.

To complete the quest, you actually have to go in the porthole, walk to the right and down the walkways on the submarine and around and down to the captain's area. Sit with him and wait. . . you'll get the full quest completion then.

Thank God for WoWhead. My buddy and I were on this quest last night and did not get credit for securing the cove even though we rode the sub twice. I came on here and as others have said, you MUST be at the lowest portion of the sub to get credit. I stood under the ramp away from the windows and the bottom hole and got credit. It takes a few to get ported to the quest giver, so just be patient. It automatically does it when the sub leaves from the cave.

THIS IS HOW SIMPLE/COMPLICATEDTHIS QUEST IS. Get quest from Capt Taylor. Get on X2sub,and go behind the big round door. Go L or R in that narrow passage, and CAREFULLY make yer way downstairs to where the neurotic gnome scientists are (By now, you should have got part 1 of quest = Board the X2). Now, as the sub heads toward Darkbreak Cove, just wander around in the guts of the sub, and suddenly ........ 1/1 Secure Darkbreak Cove.... the screen blurs and you are on the land in the cove, next to a yellow?

I had the same problem with turning in the quest. When I teleported inside the cove, the question mark above Captain Taylor was gray. I didn’t want to abandon the quest since I had come so close to total completion of Vashj'ir. The sub returns to the cove every 1 – 2 minutes. I boarded the sub a second time and entered the door. I was teleported, within seconds, back to the shore inside Darkbreak cove. The question mark above Captain Taylor still remained gray. After a bit of brain work, I finally realized my mistake. The key to completing this mission was my location in the Pincer X2 prior to the battle. I realized that you must be in the bottom of the sub near the large bow window. To complete the quest, I swam out to the cove’s opening and waited for the sub to return. Just as it entered the cove, I swam upward from underneath to a “sealed” round port located in the bottom of the sub. I hugged the portal of the sub until I heard the full dialogue between First Lieutenant Wiley and Captain Glovaal. I immediately received credit for the completion of the mission.

I recommend quitting the quest and flying back to the ship where it started. You may have to log out and then back in to see them again. Just make sure this time your in the lower portion of the ship with the view window.

I also bugged this quest however when I swam of the cove and saw ship I swam towards it and I got through the front glass into the ship(don't know how just got through the wall :D ghostlike) Maybe it will work for someone too, since abandoning quest and taking it back takes a bit too long :/

My issue with quests like this is one is never given near enough info to complete it. Without wowhead, a huge number of quests would not have been finished. AND the first time I got on the sub, I could not see any way to go downstairs... you are so cramped in and there is not light (it was daytime here, I may have seen something if it was night and totally dark around my computer). Yeah, I went left and right after going through the doorway, but could not see anything else.

If you miss the quest, as someone else stated, swim into the entrance and wait for the sub to return. Then, swim in front of it and wait. It basically "scoops" you up and you end up inside. You can then wait for the dialog, get the second part of the quest, and exit the sub.

If you missed the Secure Tenebrous Cavern part of the quest you can still make it. Just get on your seahorse and wait nearby the cave entrance. After about a minute the submarine will come back and all you have to do is position yourself nearby the submarine--enough that you can hear the captain speak--then you will get credit for the quest. You do not have to go inside. Just position yourself nearby from the outside.

You can attempt this as many times as needed. I had to do this twice as I first was too slow to get near it swimming without my seahorse mount. :P

Just do yourself a huge favor and fall into the water on the side of the ship the sub docks on and wait there. When it arrives, you'll "fall through it" and be in the part of the sub you need to be in to complete the quest. Once inside, make your way to the bridge and stand next to the captain. Done.

Been working on my loremaster achievement, did what a few people said and just swam in front of the sub when it arrived to the cave. got disconnected just as i swam in front of it and when i logged back on quest was completed?

Don't be upset if you get disconnected, you may get credit anyway :)

The bulkhead door to go inside was blocking the way into the ship. (Alliance side) So, you can jump in the water next to the Pincer X2, and come up into the water lock to enter the ship, then stand next to Capt. Globaal (Nice Robotech reference). The scene played out and everything was fine.

As of September 2015... This quest is still bugged for me. I dropped it and redid it. I still can't seem to get credit for securing the cove even though I wait to be teleported to the cove shore near the NPC. My quest question mark is still gray. I'm going to try to do it again before submitting a ticket.

I was just doing this quest, and had no trouble getting credit for completing the two tasks at hand. Went on the submarine and traveled all the way to the cave. Eagerly I ran out of the submarine and jumped into the water to swim for land, and thats when it bugged for me.... I was suddenly swimming over the ruins of Vashj'ir, right about under the place I first entered the submarine. (?) Great. So I pointed my seahorse for the cave and put on autorun, while looking at my phone for like 2 seconds. Looking up, I was suddenly at the very northern edge of the Abyssal Depths, and had to go back... AGAIN. How even. Why. What did I do to deserve this? :c

I'm on Patch 7.0.
I am trying to get off the Pincer X2 and it is impossible.
I cannot complete the quest and the only way off the sub is to Hearthstone.
I tried getting on the sub various ways that have been mentioned here and it just seems like nobody knows I am on board. No NPC say anything, I can't jump into the pool of water to leave, I can't leave by any window or door. The only thing I can do is hearthstone, go to Stormwind, portal back, abandon, and pick the quest up again, try getting on the sub various ways, log in and out etc. And then I end up getting trapped inside it again. I sit with the captain going back and forth but nothing ever happens. Anyone else have a problem with this quest with the 7.0 patch?

Make sure that you actually go inside the submarine to where the captain is and stay there until it plays out the scene. It will give you credit and put you in Darkbreak Cove automatically when it's done.

I Completed Quest.if you can't complete then Just abandon Quest then Do it Again.
When you get quest from "Captain Taylor" , Submarine will board and a door will open and you MUST get in, Yes if you don't Go inside and stay near door , you won't get credit.Just Enter then Follow stair and you will see "Captain Glovaal" , "First Lieutenant Wiley".

As of 8.0 when you are inside the ship you cannot see outside at all due to some weird graphical errors in the windows of the ship at least for me can anyone else confirm this?

Funny thing: I boarded the Verne instead of the Pincer X2, completed the quest but ended on the Horde base where I was promptly killed by the guards. Board the correct ship!

Don't stay on the submarine for too long after the quest completes or it'll teleport you back to the ship and you'll have to do the whole journey again T~T

Another ridicilous cata quest. No wonder people quit the game back then. Just how is a person supposed to know that you have to be INSIDE, not anywhere on the submarine. Really obnoxious

another garbage quest that will glitch if you do not go inside the vehicle at the start. u must be inside the sub. not just standing on the deck. if it doesnt complete just wait for another sub to arrive at the cave entrance and swim underneath it and wait near the hatch at the bottom when the sub fires it will then complete

Description

We've located the beast that destroyed our ships. It makes its lair in Darkbreak Cove, a giant underwater cavern bordering the abyss.
