I am also unable to get into the plane. I am a level 11 Dwarf Warrior. It also tells me that I am busy and cannot use the taxi service right now.

UPDATE!

Was able to exit completely out of the game, then log back in, and finished the quest as directed.

Had no issues with this quest as of today.

To make the quest easy, wait til you reach the clusters of golems on the south end. They're much easier to bomb than the individual dark iron dwarves.

Hey the problem is that your in combat. Check in your map and check if its red around it.

What I did I went behind the plane into the snow whithout going off the cliff until I got out of xombat and I went perfectly well.

PS: Its easier if you go for the golems

Still bugged. I was not in combat and it wouldn't let me board the plane. X-ing out and logging back in fixed it.

12/30 Quest working fine. Walk away from Commamder Stonebreaker; bomber is to the right. You make two circuits, plenty of time to kill all you need. You don't control bomber, only your view from the air.

Playing a hunter, I had the same bug. I noticed I didn't have my pet so I called it, and the quest worked just fine. If you have a familiar or pet I suggest you call or dismiss it if you are having issues with this quest.

Did it on my enhancment shaman, had to log out then back in to be able to get in the Repaired Bomber.

I can guarantee Blizzard will NEVER fix this quest. If logging out and back in allows a person to get on the bomber, then Blizzard considers it good enough. Blizz has a very well documented history of not fixing broken quests. Even though this is the only quest available and needs to be completed to get on to additional quests to continue leveling, the log out/in fix is just fine as far as Blizzard is concerned. So my main point is, dont bother looking for a fix for this quest because it will never happen until they decided to revamp the old world again in another 6 years.

This is a common problem, its happened to me with other quests and stuff before. its a problem with ur combat status, the game thinks ur still in combat even if it doesnt show u as bein in combat. on my hunter, the easiest fix is to feign death. stealth doesnt seem to work, but logging out and bak in works just fine.

None of this worked for me.

Ladies and Gentle . . . errrr . . . . Dwarves/Gnomes/Humans/Peoples, It seems that there's a slight problem now that when you board the aircraft . . . there is no longer a menu/table that pops up to control or do anything while flying. You just get stuck riding for endless loops around the airfield, with no way off (kind of like being on United or Delta, actually . . . but I digress . . .)
Logging out won't do it, and neither will exiting WoW and signing back in. I had to open a ticket and sign off for the night, and this morning when I checked, a GM finally was able to get me off the thing and back on the ground. "It is a vehicle malfunction that is happening with a lot of in-quest vehicles", I was told. "There is no solution as of yet, but keep an eye out for a hotfix in the future", and in not so many words, I was told to just start somewhere else and continue there, before the response closed out.

SO good luck finishing all the Dun Morogh Quests. Ever, apparently, seeing how Blizz fixes broken quests . . .

I had a completely different problem...

I had no vehicle bar!

*Normally* - when you do a quest in a vehicle... you get a vehicle bar with all the options/abilities/what-have-you of the given vehicle...

Things like mount/dismount, shoot, etc...

My initial thought was that it was related to add-ons...

It wasn't. This quest was simply designed improperly.

Comments above say they had to click the little icon next to the objective tracker to "bomb"...

Except for whatever reason - I didn't happen to be tracking the quest or even using the objective tracker... so I guess that'll teach me - lol :P

You can also drag a bomb that you are given from your bag onto your default action bar...

Which is a fairly normal behaviour for most quest items *when you're not in a vehicle*!

Geez Blizz... you think you could equip the *plane* with bombs instead of making us carry them?

A vehicle bar *should* be part of this quest and *should* have a parachute/eject/return to base/whatever button as well... which would take care of the "can't get out of the plane" problems ...

Anyway - my 2 cents... and hopefully it helps someone... :)

this quest is hella bugged for me 7/23/2011. i had a pvp pop up and it wouldn't let me go in due to the fact that apparently once i accepted this quest i was stuck in combat. then the taxi said i was too busy to use it. so after many clicking attempts i just logged and came back and it finally worked.

i had trouble getting the bomber to work as it kept saying "you cannot use taxi service right now" or i was "busy" but then i logged in and out again as suggested and it worked fine after that :D <3

If you happen to be doing this quest on a high enough level toon to easily kill the mobs in question simply kill them with your normal abilities and the quest completes, no need to board use the bomber.

Quest working just fine... little tip.. zoom in at max (like 1st person shooter).. you won't have the bomber in your sight.. easyer to aim ! Happy bombing !

Still bugged on 8/23/2012. I tried logging out and in, but it didn't work. Can't continue quest line. I guess I'll go to Loch Modan and see if they have any quests for a level 12 gnome.

Update: Logged out and waited a day, then it became unbugged. Got in the plane and bombed stuff. Thought there was another bug when I couldn't find any controls for the plane. Just have to click on the item you were given. Put it on a button bar for easy use.

The quest is not bugged. I read comments and tried relogging and that did not work.

The problem with the quest is that it makes a few trips around even if you have finished the quest. You just need to sit there and let it go around a few times and it will eventually go back. I agree, it is kind of horrid that you can't just leave the vehicle but, come on... It's blizzard.

OK, So here's what I've learned about the bugs:

1 - Logging out with the 20-sec wait works much better than force-exiting the game.

2 - Being in combat naturally keeps you from doing anything but being in combat, any lvl 10+ with an IQ of 80+ knows that. But you don't have to be in combat to be affected by this glitch.

3 - This will not, even in perfect conditions, create the usual interface that allows you to execute quest mount actions with the numpad. You have to use the quest-item-cast interface instead. So, if you're a low-lvl doing this in order, all you have to do is look for the spikey ball icon on the right. If you're a higher level doing this for rep, or because you flew to Ironforge in a state of such inebriation that you can only comprehend wiping enemy mobs on a local, low-lvl scale (which I have experienced, so no hate), then all you need to do is stop tracking your other quests for a sec so you can have access to the bomb-icon-trigger-thing. That ended on a much less convincing note than I anticipated, but I hope it helps anyway.

It's still bugged as of today, couldn't get on the plane. I logged out. Went and got some lunch together (about 20 min). Logged back in and it worked. Still no vehicle bar so had to wait for the fly arounds to auto dismount.

As of today January 14 2014 the quest is still bugged with no controls.

here is how to do it, get in the repaired plane, NW of the quest giver on the landing strip, then push the camera in all the way so you cant see your plane, then open your bags and select the bombs, drop the bombs on the enemy until you reach 30 kills, then just sit back and the plane will finally land..

Decided to roll a new alt since the heirloom tab came out today, but hit a brick wall with this quest. You hop in the plane, it goes a few feet, then ejects you.

Costumes granted from toys don't seem to fix this, nor did relogging and disabling addons.

What did work was I just ran to where you are supposed to bomb them, but dispatched them 1 at a time with my sword and still was able to complete the quest.

Every time that I get in the ship to finish the quest it kicks me out of the ship list 1 sec later. Why does it do that. I even logged out and logged back in to see if that worked. It didn't. What do I do now?

Just did this quest and can confirm it is still bugged, but doesn't take much to get past it. Simply take the flight path back to the quarry and then back to the airstrip again.

Let me board the plane and complete the quest without any problems after I did that

If you're unable to get the plane working by reloading, exiting the game etc you can still complete the quest if you go and kill the dark iron attackers by yourself. It does take a while to kill 30 of them but it works.

Reported still bugged. I tried logging, exiting, restarting WoW, abandoning and re-accepting quest. Always get dumped out of the plane after a few feet on the runway.

I tried the logging out trick mentioned, still didnt work, so i just ran down and started killing the spawned npcs in the area of where we have to plant the banners for the previous quest

respawn almost instantly, aggro onto the guards, and they count...
for my lvl 12 (i think at the time) lock they were all insta kills

yes, its bugged.
when you enter it from the front or the side the plane turns, cousing the nose to touch the ground cousing the game to Think your "landing" and thereby, ejecting you.
just go up behind it and click it, that way it goes in a straight path and you wont be ejected.

Mid 2016 and still bugged, however the bug can be worked around.

The plane is located at 77.1, 18.5.

Come up to it from directly behind the plane, facing the front. Trying to get on from the side can cause the "busy, cannot use a taxi at this time" issue. Should that happen, logging out to the character loading screen and then back in will fix it. Reloading my UI did not work.

There are no controls for the plane, other than the usual button you get on a taxi asking to stop at the next available spot. You can change your camera angle to make targeting easier.

Put your bomb quest item on a hot button so you can use it during the flight.

The plane will automatically circle the airfield twice. That should be enough to get the needed kills.

As of today (7.1.5), the quest's still bugged.

While most of you might already know how to workaround this bug, it might still be useful to say that the "workaround" still works in 7.1.5.

I took the quest, went to the plane. clicked on it, got the "busy, cannot use a taxi at this time". Went behind it, clicked again and got the same error. Then logged out of the character, logged in back and clicked it and it now worked. Tho it looked like I was really riding a "taxi", so it might be a good idea to put the item on your spell bar to use it easier.

As of May 20, 2018 in Patch 7.3.5 the quest is still bugged. The only fix I have found is to simply log out of the game and back in.

The helicopter is located on the north-most end of the runway near the FP @ 77.1, 18.5

The quest is not "bugged" as of my playing today. It does have some problems. The camera angle makes it almost impossible to see anything, so I had to mouse up and look down. Also, the bombs have very little AOE; you drop a bomb into a crowd and you kill only 3 at the most. And the copter goes pretty fast so it's hard to line up the target. All that said, I (L12 Dwarf Paladin) got 11/30 on the ground and wrapped it up in about 5 minutes in the air.

Every single time I have ever done this quest I put Richard Wagner - Ride of The Valkyries on while doing it. 0 Regrets.

Also I have never had any problems with this quest in my life I don't understand how so many people have, always works fine for me when I get in the thing.

Striking Back

Board the Repaired Bomber and use the Iron Hammer Bomb to kill 30 Dark Iron attackers. You may kill any of the Dark Iron dwarves or their allies at the Ironforge Airfield.

Description

My chief engineer tells me that he's managed to get one of the bombers repaired and airworthy. Take these bombs with you, and look for the repaired bomber at the start of the runway.

Once you're airborne, use the bombs to do as much damage to the attacking Dark Iron dwarves as you can. I've heard rumors that they're preparing to deploy a new kind of war golem. Keep your eyes peeled for those golems and make them your highest priority targets.
