Note that, even after many of the new goblin quests in Kalimdor no longer decrease your Bloodsail reputation, this one still does! If you already turned this in and hurt your Bloodsail rep, be careful not to turn in the escort portion of this chain - that will set you back another 350.

I searched up and down the cave and stood right on top of the gold "?" and didn't see the robot. I made a /target macro and got nothing. Any ideas?

I was ready to start farming dozens of mobs for this quest item, but I dropped off the second yeti that I killed in the Feral Scar Vale (inside the cave, approx. 52, 60).

For those trying to hunt down:

OOX-09/HL Distress Beacon from The Hinterlands (Personal stats: Killed some stalkers, some trolls, some owlbeasts (about 20 all told)... Then killed my first ooze at Skulk Rock, and it dropped)
OOX-17/TN Distress Beacon from Tanaris (Personal stats: Went into Zul'Farrak like all other posters recommend, killed some twenty or thirty trolls and scarabs, and it dropped from one of the troll corpses)
OOX-22/FE Distress Beacon from Feralas (Personal stats: As recommended by many other posters, Feral Scar Yetis - dropped on my first kill)

Only available if you have not already completed the quest.
Yes these still drop in Mists of Pandaria.
Yes it can drop off ANY mob in the respective zone, however OOX-22/FE Distress Beacon has the highest drop rate from Feral Scar Yeti IF you haven't already done the quest.
It WILL eventually drop - some days RNG is your best friend, other days you want to repeatedly punch a kitten (or other obscenely fluffy creature) just to illustrate how cruel the universe can be.

After completing all three escorts, you can then acquire the quest An OOX of Your Own and get your Mechanical Chicken.

I go this quest off either a Stag or Harpy near the Ruins of Ravenwind.
This is the North-Western area near the path to/from Desolace.

If you go to the location marked on your map (or follow the IDs here), and OOX isn't there for you to find, don't panic; it just means that someone else is either just on, or just finished, the quest. The NPC is not phased to the person doing the quest. As such, you have to wait for them to finish (or fail/abort) their rescue, and for the chicken to respawn in order to turn it in and begin the next leg of the journey.

So yeah. Went on this ALL THE THING Adventure.

The addon was telling me that I didnt have the An OOX of Your Own quest.
Went to farm the beacons. No drops for ages.
After a while I decided to run a script macro.
Every *FIND* quest were completed
But some *RESCUE* quest was not.
Went to see on the forums and wowhead to look If you can loot the beacon back if you turned the quest already.

TURNS OUT THAT
If you already turned the FIND quest Then you can go back to where the chicken is (the exclamation point on the map) the chicken will still be there with the exclamation point to start the escort. (THANKS TO Atanae)

I read in one of the comments on one of the Find OOX-22 quests that you can do these on low level toons. Just to advise, I'm almost positive that you have to be a minimum of level 15 for the Feralas and Tanaris ones because I went with a friend who was level 12 and we went to the yetis in Feralas and we farmed them for an hour'ish and the quest dropped for me in less than 10 kills, just like it has on every toon i've ever done this quest on, but it wouldn't drop for my level 12 friend. so we went and did some quests in desolace to get him up to level 15, went back to the yetis and in two kills he got the quest. I think because the zone says it's for level 15 to 30, you have to be at least level 15 to get the quests to drop. The quest dropped at level 12 for my friend in the Hinterlands though, so you don't have to be level 15 there. Also, you have to be level 15 to get into the Zul'Farrak dungeon where the comments say is the best place in Tanaris to farm the beacon.

Find OOX-22/FE!

Take the distress beacon to Oglethorpe's homing robot in a cave near Feral Scar Vale.

Description

You have uncovered some sort of strange, egg-shaped device made from metal. Fiddling with one of its knobs springs the egg to life, as it opens up into some sort of gnomish robotic contraption! A voice from inside the robotic egg crackles to life.

"My name's Oglethorpe Obnoticus, and my homing robot has crashed! I will reward you for its recovery; please take this beacon to the robot!"

"I now have computed the coordinates of the robot for you; it is in a cave near Feral Scar Vale!"
