The cannons do not move for aiming as they do in other targeting quests. Do not choose the left most cannon as its view is partially blocked by tree branches. Get on the cannon. Press 1. This gives you the green targeting circle that you move around and fire with your mouse. Lead the boats that are moving. A very easy quest.

I've been trying to do this quest for the past few days and it just will not work for me. I get in the cannon and press one to fire but it just sits there. >_< hope that it won't keep me from getting my quest achievement for Southern Barrens. We'll see.

Confirmed. The boats do not visually spawn when first started, however, they are there invisible. Once I shot one, by shooting between two boats on left, the boats started spawning.

Just completed this quest, at first the rowboats didn't spawn, I waited 30~ seconds and they started appearing, although not all of them appeared, some were still invisible that I managed to hit with random shots.

Keep trying :D

If you start shooting in the water very close to shore even though you do not see the boats you will actually hit some. Then it seems the boats start appearing. I have report this bug.

If you don't see the boats right away in the quest area, shoot the canons around close to shore. You might have to wait for them to make their way to shore, the boats might be invisible but eventually you will hit one. If you turn on "Track Quest POI's" (click the magnifying glass on your minimap), it will highlight the area where the boats path to shore - this will help you better guess where you might be able to shoot the boats if they aren't visible to you.

Tried to do this quest today on my druid and everything went fine until I got up to 8/10 boats sunk.

I tried the other canons and I shot a couple dozen cannonballs but nothing seemed to happen so I decided to restart the game to see if that helped. I can't confirm that restarting the game helped because I did not see any boats at first after logging in, but after shooting the cannon some more I did find one of the spots to hit (where the "invisible" boats come to rest after spawning and making their way to shore).

The only approved screenshot included here at the moment only shows a side shot of a cannon and you can't see where the relevant boats are in the picture. I submitted a screenshot that I took when the boats re-spawned and came to rest after making their way to shore -- that picture should help give you an idea where the 'invisible' boats end up, so you can hit them with your cannon and hopefully get some more to spawn. I couldn't find any invisible boats today. Spawn time is a bit slow though. Don't be surprised if a minute goes by without any boat showing up. Overall I think it took about 5 minutes for me. Usually there'll be a set of 1-3 spawns fairly fast, and then it'll take a while until next.

2023 and the camera is now bugged for me.

When you mount the cannon it spins around and faces the hill, meaning that you can't shoot the boats no matter how much you try to spin it around and try.

A kinda work around is to press 1 to get the green aiming rectical, then press D and it'll quickly spin around then flick back to the hill. If you time it right you can click and hit the boats with the cannon ball. Painful, but at least you can move past this quest.
