I think you're all concentrating on the wrong part of the quest here... Garrosh had a BOUNTY ON YOUR HEAD.

Now, I know what you're thinking: "holy crap, he was going to have me killed!" That is true, but the important part is this... what was the quest reward? Was it a blue or a crappy green? Was it a group quest? Tell me Garrosh, how many people did you have to contract?

I dislike this quest. Garrosh is a brutish thug with all the subtlety of a berzerk rhinoceros and racist ego of a whole Klan meeting. He shouldn't be right about anything.

When you confront Durak, the dialogue you have is "This is terrible, Durak! Hellscream is conviced there's a demon behind our work here. What can we do?"

Did this quest today on my 85 Mage, and i don't think you can complete it after you've "fought" him. I killed him easy, i'm not sure if there is some sort of event that I missed or what, but I can't turn in the quest to him now.

I used to hate Garrosh, but sending me to pwn a lock is pretty sweet. Ah, the days when I ran a guild that refused locks entry. Bwahaha!

On topic, I replaced my level 19 heirloom gun with the following outcome:

*If you're doing this chain for twink gear, then make sure to pick up Diabolical Plans, which drops from the mobs in the same area as the felfire. The next quest in that chain, Never Again!, rewards BiS rings for most classes @19/20. The best time to do that quest is just after you've picked up All Apologies (so you can hearthstone to Orgrimmar once you've got the 2 weapons, talk to Hellscream, then fly back to get Durak's head).

Also, you may as well pick up Destroy the Legion from Valusha at the same time as Playing With Felfire, for a bit more gold, as you'll be killing the demons anyway.

atm...4.3 the bow you get from this quest - is best in slot for lvl19 hunter twinks...
The major gain is in the 3stam and 1point increase in max damage, with twink gear hits will be large enough to ignore the 1point min. damage and the 0.2dps loss is made up for by the +1 max damage too.

Seemingly this quest has changed a bit with 6.0.2 - no more Garrosh angry at you, more just Vol'jin disappointed in you.

Also, it doesn't give any indication where it should be turned in now, either in the quest log or in the map, as there's no quest marker at the Orgrimmar throne room anymore, strangely.

As of patch 6.0.2 it looks like the tracking on this quest has a minor bug. The standard map pins to show both the location of Durak to "persuade" him and the turn-in do not show up on the map or mini-map. Showing Durak's location (in the mine, if you need the reminder) isn't a big deal, but the quest text doesn't specify to return to Vol'jin for turn-in. Since there's no stated destination, and no map pin for where to turn in the quest, it could get a bit confusing for newer folks.

So, moral of the story:

Vol'jin (Org) --> Durak (Splintertree) --> Vol'jin --> Profit.

Be sure to chop off the right head. Thrall's son, also named Durak, is in southern Durotar. While entirely possible that Thrall's toddler is secretly a demon, best kill the right Durak first, and wait for Fell Duraky Jr. to appear as a raid boss later.

As of Feb 19 2016 the quest doesn't show where to turn in. For those of you who don't know where you turn the quest back in, its Vol'jin since they haven't fixed it from when Garrosh was replaced by him.

As an Outlaw rogue, you do not get the cloak as an item reward. There seems to be no item reward at all (at least for Outlaw rogue), only experience.

It also turns in at Saurfang (not Vol'jin or Sylvanas) as of 7.0.

Just went through this chain on an alt.

The final quest still bugged for going into the mine, as well as needing to go back to Orgrimmar.

However, the final turn in is to High Overlord Saurfang, as neither Garrosh or Vol'Jin are present in the throne room.

Dialog on turn in is "As I thought, he was a threat after all. Well done <player> ."

as of Patch 7.1.5
if you are only interested in Ring of Pardons no need to pick up, or do quests Empty Quivers, Rescue the Fallen, and Mor'shan Defense they are a waist of time for twinks, nontwinks xp is good so pick them up and do them your going right by them.

Direct chain of quests to this one:

Find Gorat!
pick this quest up from Kadrak, go northwest to Gorat laying on a mound lifeless.

Final Report
Pick up quest and bring it back to Kadrak.

To Dinah, at Once!
walk over to Dinah Halfmoon just over the other side of the walk path kneeling by three bodys {two orcs, one tauren} turn in Final Report.

Gorat's Vengeance
go back to Gorat body coordinates 64.2/84.5 target Gorat then click and use Gorat's Imbued Blood. Spirit of Gorat will rise follow him to the lake shore. he reveals Captain Elendilad who immediately jumps across lake and starts attacking you. {kill him} then back to ramparts to Kadrak next quest is picked up from Truuni]

Got Lumber?
Goto talk to him so you can ride Brutusk, as of today you can be mounted or transformed to mount Brutusk no glitch on this quest, after talking to Kadrak goto Brutusk click on him, he takes you and drops you off at Gorka sitting across the bonfire from you

Management Material
Speak to Demoralized Peon, note you must follow them and wait for the Freshly Cut Wood to appear then collect it. You walk away, the Freshly Cut Wood will not stay or appear. WARNING Wildthorn Lurker stealthed, Ashenvale Stalker, and Ghostpaw Alpha are patrolling the areas you need and will attack you or attack Demoralized Peon who will run or disappear leaving you no Freshly Cut Wood. 19 twinks should be able to kill easily prevent Demoralized Peon from being attacked and you will get all the Freshly Cut Wood you need.

Needs a Little Oil
Kill and loot Rotting Slime for Natural Oil.

Crisis at Splintertree
WARNING! must be dismounted and in true form don't be transformed you will not mount and the quest won't complete you must ride with Gorka to the ramparts, she keels over and dies. turn in quest at Kadrak

To the Rescue!
automatically dismounts you and puts you on Brutusk, Gorka jumps on the wrains and drives you in. run into splintertree post to where Gorka is standing.

Blood of the Weak
Mines in the rear of splintertree post, go in all the way to rear stay left at T. Durak stands under a make shift tent. Pierce Their Heart! is not part of the progression and doesn't have to be done to get Ring of Pardons, abandon it or don't pick it up unless you want the silver and xp from completing it. Go out to Splintertree Demolisher to get the next quest for the chain.

Playing With Felfire
This a good spot to get the level 19 twink bis, quest drops from the npc patrolling this area you are questing so just loot everything you kill. Diabolical Plans should be in one of them that will lead to Never Again! for level 19 bis. (Band of Argus, Seal of Argus, or Signet of Argus) easy money.

Diabolical Plans
NPC Durak located in mines at the rear of splintertree post. stay left at the T.

Dirty Deeds
Pierce Their Heart! doesn't need to be done so don't pick It up.

Rain of Destruction
A Imp Disguise is placed on you. You must climb left or right guard towers, Accursed Ore is in your bags click, drop, rinse, and repeat from top of guard towers. next quest is outside at Splintertree Demolisher

All Apologies
Picked up at Splintertree Demolisher, outside mines. Pick up All Apologies and Hearth to org if your hearthstone is set there. WARNING because Garrosh Hellscream has been dethroned and is no longer in command, and Vol'jin was killed during the battle opening Legion expansion. All Apologies can now be turned in at the seat of power in the valley of strength. The new warchief has not been awarded the throne as of yet so High Overlord Saurfang has assumed command and all quest giving potential for the time being.

Dread Head Redemption
Fly back out to Splintertree post, go into the mines and talk with Durak, after confronting him follow him to the rear of the mine, he will change into a demon and attack you, fight and kill him. due to the massive changes to the warchief position your map won't show where to turn it in. the quest ? will be there when you get back to Org and into the throne room.

BOOM! you are the proud owner of Ring of Pardons, Durak's Downfall, or Bow of Ire.

Very interesting point - completing this quest as a mage, I was not given a choice of rewards, the only thing offered and given to me was the intellect ring. However, I did also get a notification that the appearance for the cloak (Durak's Downfall) was added to my appearance collection.

When did this become a thing? Very cool though, unlocking access to all the reward appearances even if you don't get all the rewards.

Ok as of today I just completed this quest on a hunter alt, of course the whole thing runs a little differently since, I think it was Patch 7.3.5 when a lot of the zones became auto leveling in my case the Quest start and end was with Eitrigg in the Gronmash Hold at Orgrimmar, of course, the current Warchief is Lady Sylvanus Windrunner, I hope this helps some of the more recent players of BFA, oh, and my reward was a very nice Purple level Bow.
