Another great trip aboard the war kodo "Brutusk". This time to Splintertree Post to break the seige there. A couple of battles along the way and a big one at the end where Brutusk dies in battle. Very sad but our spirits are lifted with the award of some nice loot.

If you get this quest in splintertree post go ahead and run back to the barren/ashenvale areas and find Kadrak there. Even though he is in both places at once... he wants you to speak to the version of him that is near the entrance that you came into from the Barrens.

For the most part it seems you talk to Kadrak and then ride the Kodo... After the events unfold you run into splintertree post and turn in the quest.

I had a big issue with the phasing on this quest. Somehow, I lost the reigns to the kodo and escorted the female orc back to the Mor'shan Rampart using my mount to just run along. After she died, I picked up the quest from Kadrak and tried to follow him. Of course he ran way ahead of me.

I managed to catch up in time to see the kodo die. Kadrak said to run into Splintertree post, so I did. After this, he simply disappeared and has not shown back up. I dropped the quest in hopes of re-doing the phase, but as I said, Kadrak is not appearing. I see him on the kodo when other players get into this phase, but there is nothing I can do. I put in a GM ticket but it's been a few hours and no word yet (not surprising, since it's day after patch).

If anyone knows of a way the phase can possibly be re-set, please say so. Or, is anyone else having a similar issue?

My husband and I tried to do this quest today. Right after the gate, we both paused. Then his kodo ran off and mine stayed there. I waited and waited, but nothing. I finally aborted the quest and logged out to get off the mount. My hubby was right outside of Splintertree Post and then his kodo stopped and did nothing; like mine. In the meantime, I logged back in and he shared the quest with me. There wasn't an option to talk to the guy again, so I ran over to Splintertree. My hubby logged out and back in. We went into the area and found it empty. Thinking maybe it was because we didn't ride to kodos there, we moved on to our next closest quest which was also in Ashenvale; but no one was there either. Hmmmm...maybe because this area is saved for cata, so we decided to hearth home. GAH! Still no one! Logged out, back in...nothing. We're able to play our other characters, but we don't see anything or anyone on those two.

I cleared my WoW cache and am doing a Blizzard Repair.

If there's any one that know wtf...I'd appreciated it :)

Before you start this quest DO NOT be mounted if you have a mount. If you are so you won't be able to ride kodo and the quest will fail. So if you already did fail the quest you won't be able to see any npc's(including Kadrak).

To fix this you need to have your heartstone on cooldown and use the character stuck-> teleport to graveyard and corpserun back to you body. Then you can speak to Kadrak and other npc's again.

I believe this is bugged. There's a group of Night Elves infront of the kodo, and Kadrak said "Make 'em pay, Brutusk!", but nothing's happening. I'm sitting here, night elves shooting at the kodo but not hurting him.

Been waiting for five minutes, and nothing is happening.

What I found worked was: not being mounted and not being shape shifted (was playing my druid). This completed the quest without a hitch.

So far as getting out of the phase, hearthing or being summoned to another zone worked also. If your hearth is in the same zone that you accepted the quest, it will not reset, even if you abandon the quest.

Kadrak is a lot more upset when the kodo dies at the end of this quest than he was when Gorka died at the end of the last one.

When Gorka dies: "Gorka... We must always be prepared for losses. Her honorable service to the Horde will not be forgotten."

When the kodo dies: "BRUTUSK! NOOOOOOO!"

Confirm! 4.3.0 and it is still broken. The fix for me was exiting the client, relogging in, Hearthstoneing out of the area, flying back to the Mor'shan Rampart, and - just in case - dismissing my pet. Then I walked straight to Kadrak. It only worked this way.

UPDATE & SUMMARY (as of 4.3.0):

For everyone having issues with the Kodo stopping at the first group of mobs & hanging there.

-despite AngryLittleBunny's post, there is no Kadrak in Splintertree until AFTER you complete the quest, & he will accept the quest hand-in fine.

However, as for actually getting there:

Almost nothng in this thread worked, & what did work was very specific:

-you can't hearth off the kodo, as you get an on-screen message saying "You can't do that right now";
-ditto for the 'Character Stuck?' option mentioned by Taake;
-you can't, as Arearda mentioned, simply take the quest then "follow along" with the Kodo or make your own way to Splintertree;
-logging out and logging back in will not fix the problem alone.

Here is how it worked for me:

-take and begin the quest;
-get stuck;
-DO NOT ABANDON THE QUEST (nothing else here will work if you simply start all over again);
-exit the game entirely (ie, don't simply log to Character Select);
-log back in; you will be at the place the kodo got stuck, but you will not be mounted;
-hearth out of the zone (if you are bound in Ashenvale, this will not work - change your hearth point & try again);
-if you have a Haunted Memento, bank it for the time-being;
-remove any gear (including weapons - you will not need them on this quest anyway) that has animated visual effects (putting them in your bags will be fine);
-fly back to the Mor'shan Rampart, but make sure you dismount a fair way out, and run in on foot;
-talk to Kadrak again (you should still have the quest from before) to remount, and voila! the quest should complete fine this time.

When Brutusk stopped, I just waited for a while, then eventually he derezzed and I was dropped to the ground.
The 3 Ashenvale Assailants in front of me, I dispatched with, then ran back, and Gadrak was gone.
I travel formed, (cat), to Durotar border and the NPC's reappeared, so I taxied from Nozzlepot's Outpost back to Gadrak and started over.
This time brutusk throws out Lightning Bolts at group 1, War Stomps on groups 2 -3, then Lightning Bots on group 4.
A Raging Ancient, (elite), kills him at Splintertree, which Gordak hurls his big axe at and one-hits.

As of patch 4.3.0, still broken.

This is what I did after I got stuck at the first group:

- log out and log back in.
- abandon the quest.
- reaquire the quest.
- get back on ze kodo.
- win.

That fixed it for me.

Edit note: Actually I just did this again on another toon and this time I only had to log once because when I got back to the first group of night elves the second time, he killed them with the lightning and instead of being left behind I just continued on the kodo leaving an empty Kodo where it got stuck the first time. So either way the logging in and out works.

Completed this quest today by simply logging out to the character select screen, logging back in, running back to Kadrak and starting again. I did not abandon the quest or hearth out and it worked fine.

I talked to a GM and he walked me through some steps to try. When that didn't work, the GM then suggested me to come here. Your suggestion worked perfectly! Thank you very much for helping me figure out this annoying issue!

Both times I have done this quest, the way I got through was by waiting for someone else to take the quest behind me. Once the second Brutusk arrived at the spot where I was stuck, my Brutusk killed all the elves and ran the rest of the way through the blockade.

The poor sod who helped me finish the quest got stuck where I was. (If that was you... sorry... and thanks.)

The GM I spoke to about it said that it was a known issue and was with the Blizzard developers. Judging by the dates on the comments here, they've known about it for over 6 months.

I got stuck at the first point, not far from the gate. None of the approaches suggested here worked for me (having said that, what finally did work for me was largely thanks to a combination of the tips from other posters in this thread.../salute). After 9 tries, what finally worked for me was:

1. Get stuck
2. Log out
3. Disable all addons
4. Log in
5. Remove all gear from character and turn off animated buffs (eg. shaman weapon and lightning shield)
6. Abandon Quest
7. Run back towards Kadrak's initial spot inside the gate
8. Run past, out of the Ramparts area, until "Gold Road" area displays on monitor
9. Re-enter the Ramparts
10. Re-acquire the quest from Kadrak
11. Tell him you're ready to leave

This quest was bugged for me in that it would start, but when I got to the first group of night elves, I would stay where I was, but a version of me in another phase would continue on.

I tried everything, and was finally able to complete it by doing these things in the following order:

Abandon the quest
Kill myself (being 85, I drowned myself in a nearby area of water since the NPCs were too low level to kill me)
Pick up the quest again

If you kill yourself before abandoning it, it won't work.

Didn't work for me v4.3.2 Feb 6, 2012. Tried it every way, including the exiting while frozen, logging back in, hearthing out to Orgimmar, taking everything off (after multiple attempts I finally put Everything in the bank even though I don't have anything special on this alt), flying to the Crossroads and running all of the way from there to the Ramparts naked. Sick of running around the Barrens naked, the ring so isn't worth this. Oh yeah, and don't bother asking the GM, they told me to do the fix listed on here.

To the bug - I deleted files in game adresary in Cache/WDB, and than when the kodo stoped in first place, just made /reload, but it was on 6 trying, so write /reload till it get.

This is what did work for me and it didn't require hearthing or killing myself.

1. Start quest and get stuck at same spot everyone get's stuck at.
2. Wait for Kadrak to die and Brutusk to despawn.
3. Kill the Night Elf Ambushers that are just standing where Brutusk was.
4. Go back, past the Ramparts until you hit the Gold Road.
5. Abandon quest. Get naked. Drop any buffs or auras. I did this on a paladin.
6. Log out and back in.
7. Run back to the Ramparts and retake quest, speak to Kadrak.

This time everything worked. Every other time I tried without letting Brutusk despawn and killing the Night elves, when I arrived at the stuck spot, I stayed stuck while a copy of Brutusk, with no rider would run off. I think Brutusk despawning and killing the Night elves is what made the difference. Getting naked and removing all buffs....I don't know, maybe the naked female blood elf hood ornament helped, maybe it didn't.

My fiance has been stuck on this quest forever while working on his loremaster. After several tickets to GM's who were unable to help, I looked this comment up on Wowhead, and lo and behold, a solution! Thank you for this post, worked like a charm!

ttried this quest about 10 time following the instructiosn above, Finally I took off all of my clothing. That weapons and all rings necklace and armor. Then I disabled all addons. Then I completely logged out closing wow completely. Then logged back in. Find myself where the kobo left me. I ran back to the ramparts, and talked to the orc dude again. It worked fine. Hope thing helps.

This quest is currently bugged. Skarpethinn's advice below did not work for me. What did was posted by Joestrummer in a Battle.net forum.

As written by Joestrummer, here's what worked for me with all addons disabled and naked.

When it got stuck, I logged out. Then I went back and retook quest. Before NPC mount arrived, I got on my mount. It mounted me on NPC mount. I clicked to logout of game. 20 second timer started.. Before it got to zero, I got through and cancelled logout.

Worked for me, hope it works for you.

when stuck

1. logout completely from wow (don't alt f4 or exit game)
2. when you are no longer mounted, press the "?" (customer support)
select the "Character Stuck!" tab and press the "Teleport to Graveyard" button.
3. Once you've died just revive and WALK to Kadrak.

Thats how I got it right! (Patch 4.3.2)

1) Accept the quest
- Get stuck
- Do not abandon it!
2) Press Alt+F4 to exit wow
- Now your unmounted
3) Removing your clothes is not nessecery , Remove only your tabard if you have one .
4) Remove every spell/aura thats affecting you
5) Go back to camp
- Accept the quest

Now it should work
If not, just repeat the process again and again

This just happened to me (Feb 28, 2012)

After reading Skarpethinn's post, I logged out (not exit) and logged back in. Upon doing so I was no longer on Brutusk.

I then mounted, ran back to Mor'Shan. I took off all my armor (no glowies or BoA's, but did it anyway), cancelled all my buffs (paladin buffs), and spoke to Kadrak again. Upon restarting the quest, I was able to successfully be taken to Splintertree.

I noticed when first doing it, that before you get to the part where the initial "stuck" issue appears, that there is another Brutusk and Kadrak there already, so I suspect that perhaps it has nothing to do with gear, etc., maybe you just have to run the quest twice for whatever reason.

Hopefully Blizz fixes this soon.

After many tries and hesitation from doing all the long methods, I tried a little experimenting myself to come up with an easier solution to the bug people are experiencing on the first set of Night Elf mobs.

1. Start the quest.
2. Talk to Kadrak (do not be mounted)
3. Ride until you get to the bugged spot.
4. DO NOT abandon your quest and click "Exit Game".
5. Load WoW.exe back up again and Log In. (You should fall to the ground from a slight height where you would be naturally sitting on the mount.
6. Go back to Kadrak (he should be walking around The Mor'shan Rampart) and talk to him again to re-ride Brutusk.

Now, he should begin following the usual path and you will see the previous Brutusk and Kadrak sitting in the same spot that you were stuck. You will stop there for a brief second and then pounce overtop, leaving the old Brutusk behind and on your way to finishing the quest.

Hope this helps.

I had this problem. I logged out and back in, took my enchanted BOA weapons off and talked to the guy again. I did not leave the area, I did not abandon the quest first. Worked like a charm.

I tried everything the other comments suggested on my warrior, but it didn't work...

Since I couldn't remove the warrior's stance buff, I tried to change it from to Vanguard and finally it worked.

(note: After changing stance I also removed my items, just to be sure)

(edit) It struck me that some solutions have claimed that if you tried to re-log, get yourself killed, while not abandoning the quest it would work. But if the issue is because of the buffs, then getting yourself killed would infact solve the problem as you lose your buffs after dying. I tried dying but it didn't work, cause I was still in ... food for thought

I think the bug happens, when another player is attempting this Quest. Log out (you will demount the Kodo), log back in, go back to the camp, wait a minute and talk to Kadrak and restart the event. It worked for me now.

Thank you royalblood. My shaman alt had the issue and removed tabard and weapon buffs= think this was the issue. And was able to complete on 3/9/2012

Note=Did this on my druid alt few days earlier with no issues,And I'm thinking it was the weapon buff's.

Ok I have tried ALL of the suggestions here several times - nothing has worked for me. When I accept the quest again and ride out with Kadrak, as soon as we get to the sticking spot, there is another Kodo and Kadrak there (I assume its another instance of me), and the other one gets to move on, but I am still stuck at the spot... just plain weird :/

Then I decided to try one more time and take a screenshot from the front of the overlapped kodos -- no sooner did I swing the camera around than I was suddenly on the first kodo, the one that moves - I could see the one I was on still stuck behind me. The quest completed as described... Holy Kodo, what a challenge!

I tried 4 different suggestions here; none of them worked. I then read skarpethinn's post and did as instructed, but I went a bit beyond what was suggested.

Make sure you:

- Are entirely naked
- Have dismissed any hunter and/or companion pets
- Have removed all buffs
- Have turned off all addons

^ All this may not be necessary, but that's how I was when I did what finally worked for me, so better safe than sorry. Now, once "stuck"...

- Exit WoW (I did the normal "Exit Game" option from the menu)

- Log back in (probably still on kodo)

- Leave WoW via the "logout" option from the menu

- Log back in (you should now be unmounted)

- Leave WoW AGAIN via "logout"

- Log back in and do not move

- Use your hearth (mine was set to Org; you should probably have it set to something outside of Ashenvale as skarpethinn suggested, that way you get out of the zone entirely)

- Walk to the flight master (I avoided using mounts at all, just in case)

- Fly from Org (or where ever) to Nozzlepot's Outpost

- Walk to Ramparts (I know that's a long way to walk, but I really didn't want to get stuck again so I was overly paranoid about things)

- Accept quest from Kadrak

- Don't get stuck :D

Some of this was probably not needed, but like I said, I was paranoid; I spent far too long staring at naked goblin booty and wanted to make damned sure it worked this time. Good luck :)

First comments fix worked for me.
Work around summary:

- Dont abandon the quest.
- EXIT game, turn off the game completely.
- Log back in, you wont be mounted.
- Hearth, must be out of the zone.
- Get Nekid, take off all buffs and anything that shows up on your toon.
- Fly back.
- Quest worked.

Some say this works some say it doesn't, it worked for me any how. Good luck questers!

What worked for me after the kodo stopped at the first group.
I logged out and in and I spoke again with Kadrak. The kodo stopped again at the first group but now there was another kodo, that one continued. I logged again out and in and spoke with Kadrak. Now the kodo stopped again, and there was another kodo as well. But this time he stayed and my kodo continued.
Dont know if this made any sense but basically its just logging out and in and talking to Kadrak untill the kodo passes the first group.

Seems like a lot of these instructions are overly complicated. All I did once stuck was log out, log back in, (now I was not on the kodo) abandon quest, take off all my gear, dismiss my pet, walk back to quest giver, retake quest, and that's it. Didn't hearth, turn off any addons (I have quite a few), fly off, quit the game, or any other of these instructions here.

Ok so here is the 411 on this quest what "Skarpem" or whatever said is to complicated all you have to do is when you go to talk to kadrak just try to mount on your horse or whatever and it will log you out when it does log back in and you will be finished with the quest that is all I had to do ^_^ I hope this helps.

Ok here is the 411 just go to talk to Kardrak and when you do try to mount on something ANYTHING pretty much I just did on my kymere (I don't know how to spell that) and it will log you out. Log back in and the quest is finished that is all I did I hope I helped enjoy ^_^.

Dispite what skarpethinn says KADRAK is in Splintertree Post.

I started this quest. Left the computer to come back to find my dude standing in the road on the KODO. I logged out and back in and was standing in the road. I flew over to Splintertree Post and KADRAK is standing there with a silver question mark. I abandoned the quest. Flew back to Mor'Shan Ramparts. Accepted the quest again and the same thing happened again.

I abandoned the quest. Checked here for comments on it. I went back to Orgrimmar. Completely logged out and logged back in. Took all my dudes clothes off and flew back toMor'Shan Ramparts. I suggested I walked up to KADRAK. Accepted the quest again and it went all the way through to Splintertree Post.

Like many of you I got stuck at the first group while riding the Kodo. However, I did nothing and it fixed itself. While I was here reading the posts it simply unstuck itself and I was once again on my way to Splintertree Post. My recommendation? Be patient and wait a few minutes. I was stuck for no longer than 2 minutes.

Still bugged.

I followed the advice listed here.

1. Logged out (with the 20 second timer). Exit Now did not work (it kept me on the mount when I logged in).
2. Walked back to Kadrak.
3. Removed all my weapons and armor.
4. Dismissed my pet.
5. Started the event at Kadrak again. Worked like a charm.

The easiest way I have found to complete this quest is to
1. accept quest
2. get stuck at first group of elves
3. wait for elves to finally kill brutuck & kadrack (it takes a little while)
4. kill elves standing in front of you
5. run all the way back to the gold road (you can use ur mount if u have one)
6. log out & back in again
7. run back to kadrack (unmount if mounted)
8. accept quest (everything should work fine)

There is no need to dismiss pets, disrobe, or unequip anything!

I cannot believe this hasn't made it onto here yet. If you log into an alliance toon and kill Kadrak (northern barrens version) and his kodo and then attempt to start with his respawned version works like a charm. A 58 Alliance DK was all it took. Good luck guys!

This worked beautifully! I got a friend in my guild who has an ally toon as well to just kill both the Kodo and the Kadrak guy and everything worked perfect after that.

Just send a ticket to blizzard and the gm will say its bugged and he/she will complete it for you. Go quest in any of the nearby zones while waiting for answer (you dont have to be online, the gm can complete the quest for you even tho you are offline).

Still broken... Got stuck, logged out and back in... So my belf got nekkid and started the quest up again without abandoning and it was smooth sailing. No hearthing, no corpseruns. Just no clothes. Go figure!

I'm having the "Brutusk is watering the grass" problem since last night. Logged in today to find an email from a GM that basically said "Too bad, we're busy, go read else where to find an answer." I find this kind of support very sad. This quest has always been "iffy" but this is the second toon to be infected with the tiny bladdered Brutusk in the last week. The other one just moved on to a different area but I really think Blizz ought to try a little harder.

This is by far the most frustrating bugged quest I have encountered in the game. Like a few other people, I was unable to mount on the kodo at all. I tried all the suggestions and even leveled an alliance toon on the same server to kill the NPCs which did not help.

I ended up putting in a trouble ticket TWICE. The first ticket, the GM told me that the developers are aware of the problem, apologized for my frustration, thanked me for being patient, blah blah blah thanked me for my subscription....but

"there is currently no estimated time as to when the problem will be fixed."

Of course, this was told to me in a GM message while I was offline and was not helpful at all...which reflected in that survey I received.

I figured I'd fly around Ashenvale ONE MORE TIME just in case i missed a quest in the last dozen times I circled the zone. I opened another ticket and this GM was far more helpful:

"While the quest is still in the process of being fixed, we have been given the clearance from the Development team to assist and flag it as complete for players who are having issues. As this quest was not completed, that kept you from being able to transition into the phase for Splintertree Post to continue questing."

Long story short, if you are at your wits end and cannot complete the quest, I can confirm that if you open a ticket for it (maybe even twice) that the GM will mark it as completed so you can press on into the zone.

I just wanted to update this for people who may be coming here. As to today, in patch 4.3.3 I tried every possible work around listed on this page, and nothing was working. You can ticket a GM, and they will complete this quest for you. If you want to work on Loremaster before MoP like I did, this quest is really needed to open up needed quests.

Ok, tried everything above took me about 2 hours, but here is what i did.

1) get frustrated
2) abandoned quest
3) hearthed out
4) flew back
5 Reaquired the quest
6) took off everything
7) started the quest
8) got stuck again
9) while i was stuck i put everything back on
10) alt +f4
11 when i logged back in everything had despawned so i made my way back to the quest giver he was there (i did not drop the quest the second time)
12) restart the quest again and it went through.

now i got mine to work simply by trying various ideas above and also mixing and matching. you just have to keep trying.

*ATTENTION* Only for people that can't start or are stuck at the quest start.

For 1 hour I could not even start this, Kadrak will tell you Brutusk is "Watering the bushes"... So I logged on my Alliance toon, killed both Kadrak and Brutusk, and waited for them to respawn. Logged back on my Horde toon, dropped the quest took it again, then talk to Kadrak and there we go quest started.

"Then I got stuck on first Evles so I used bmojr83 tip;

By bmojr83 (118 – 1) 26 days ago (Patch 4.3.3)
The easiest way I have found to complete this quest is to
1. accept quest
2. get stuck at first group of elves
3. wait for elves to finally kill brutuck & kadrack (it takes a little while)
4. kill elves standing in front of you
5. run all the way back to the gold road (you can use ur mount if u have one)
6. log out & back in again
7. run back to kadrack (unmount if mounted)
8. accept quest (everything should work fine)

There is no need to dismiss pets, disrobe, or unequip anything!"

Worked like a charm.

I have solved it!

I was considering following everyone's advice and killing them on an ally toon but i found another way.

When i went to speak with Kadrak I saw some of the night elves fighting the horde on the inside of the gate, i figured id kill them and give it a try and it worked. As soon as the invaders were dead inside of the horde quest giving area I was able to start the quest without any issues.

For those of you who get stuck at the first stop at the Night Elf pack while riding Brutusk, wait until he dies and then abandon the quest.

Now, remove all HEIRLOOMS you have equipped.(Just put them in your inventory)
Go back to Kadrak and retake the quest and mount Brutusk once again. This should solve the bug with getting stuck on the damn kodo..

Today on the US realm Argent Dawn i couldn't mount the Kodo. Nothing in the comments have helped me to get it done, so I made a ticket with the following text:

It seems that the quest 'To the Rescue!' is bugged. Kadrak don't let me ride his mount... Also seeing this in several forum posts that a GM can flag the quest 'completed' for me, so i can continue my adventures in Ashenvale. I need it completed for the other quests to become available. And went offline. After 11-12 hours I received an e-mail from Blizzard that they Answered my ticket, with this text:

Thanks for contacting me about your issue. Sorry I wasn't able to catch you while you were online, we have been a bit backed up, but we are working our best to get the queue down! I went ahead and looked into the issue and left you a response.

Currently "To the Rescue!" is a know bug that our Dev team is working on. In the meantime, they have give us permission to flag this quest as complete for players. As such I went ahead and completed the quest for you. You should be able to turn it in now.

I did this quest yesterday and had the bug where the kodo stopped at the first mob of enemies. What I did was waited and eventually the kodo will die allowing you to roam around but when you return to where Kadrak is he wont be there. I waited about a hour to see if he would respond but he didnt so while at the camp I quit the game and when I restarted the game he was there so I dismissed my pet and took off my two enchanted weapons and then the quest worked properly

I'm also having a problem with this quest while working on Loremaster (lvl 85 Warlock) When I accept this quest then go to talk to Kadrak all I can respond with is:

"I will check back with you shortly Kadrak"

It doesn't allow me to mount the Kodo at all. I tried doing things that were used for the other bugs, taking off gear, logging in and out, resetting the quest, going to Org and back but nothing has worked.

I also encountered the "watering the bushes" issue. I received a very prompt response from a kind GM. As of now, it cannot be completed without GM assistance. Just to let you know, Blizzard is aware of the situation and working on a permanent solution. She very kindly completed the quest for me, not wanting to "leave me in a lurch".

Seems to be a bug in this quest. Some people report that they can't ever get a kodo to mount ("watering the bushes"). For me I and the quest-giver mount it, and I see through cinematics (no UI available) that it travels forward about 100 yds along the road, then encounters enemies, at which point it stands there. Eventually it dies, and the quest-giver also just stands there. I and my minion become unknown to the entire world. I can slaughter anyone I want (no xp given, drat!) and nobody attacks. Thought it was a network connection problem but the other people's comments seem to corroborate that this quest has a bug. Or, correct me ...

Attempted this as a lvl 61 Blood Elf Hunter. Followed skarpethinn's advice, but still no go after 4 tries. After stalling at the first mob AGAIN, I abandoned the quest, stayed naked (was pretty sure there were some lvl 85s flying above laughing - I could SEE them), hearthed out of the zone (to Felwood), flew back using my own mount, stopped at intersection not far from Splintertree, and ran back to the Ramparts. On the way, I wondered what would happen if I simply changed my primary talents (was MM, had Trueshot Aura on) to my secondary (BM) (had absolutely no automatic buffs). So I did, then picked up the quest again from giver. Voila, absolutely no stops this time - all the way to Splintertree, naked!

I've been trying to get this quest done for a week now but Brutusk is STILL watering the bushes. I have tried all the ideas listed and nothing has worked...I put in TWO tickets and the response I got was

I can confirm that having an alliance kill both Brutusk and Kadrak reset this quest. After four days of trying everything I possibly could think of and scouring several threads, I finally tried this and it is the only thing that worked. I had a friend do it on his 68 DK and it brought Brutusk back from the bushes and I was able to pick up the quest and complete it flawlessly from there.

(4.3.4) I tried everything here; hearthing, naked, no buffs, walking, unstuck button, killing the elves, relogging a few different ways, abandoning... nothing worked.
I finally got it by switching my spec. I was doing it as enhancement shaman, so maybe it was failing because we get passive attack power buff? Not sure, but as resto without that buff, I got it fine.
Thank goodness I don't have to wait +9 days for a ticket.

There is a fix for the quest It involves an Alliance player to kill Kadrak.

Here are the steps to get the quest to work:

Drop the Quest if you have it.
Let Your Alliance Friend or Toon kill Kadrak
When Kadrak respawns then take the quest and talk to him again to start the event.

These are the steps i used to get the quest to work. I simply grabbed my Alliance hunter and killed Kadrak and Brutusk for good measure, and then logged my tauren druid in order to start the quest.

Archeonus Alliance Server - Stormrage <<< Hunter
Falconwing Horde Server - Stormrage <<< Druid

Source: I did this and it worked.

Quest is still bugging. In simple terms, this fixed it:
1. Do not abandon quest
2. Log out with timer
3. Disable all addons
4. Log back in
5. Hearth to Crossroads (or somewhere out of zone)
6. Fly back to Mor'shan Ramparts
7. Speak to Kadrak again
8. Quest completed

Looks like this has been bugging for some time now, can't understand why Blizzard haven't fixed it.

Last 4 months I made 2 Loremaster title and both time got problem with this quest.
First time, i made DK killed kodo but instantly guard lvl85 run to me and kill me, but in same time two more ppl doing this quest. After two try to kill NPC I have done someone from the first post said, naked char no buff heartstone blabla and somehow I fat codo comes than bug number 2 kodo stuck in place do nothing. If you got this wait kodo to die and start again quest but dont abondon quest just pick up new fat kodo. At the end around 5h jurking around for stupid quest.
Second time got some kodo wont come but this time I dont want to waste my time, kodo wont to come I write ticket to GM and said please done To the Rescue! for me and continue questing in other zone. After 12h GM wisper me done my quest and I done Loremaster. My advice dont try to be smart just write to GM and he/she will do it for you nice and strass free way.

I got stuck on this quest as of 6-30-12 so naturally I came here to find the solution. This is what worked for me as a hunter after exiting and re-entering the game:

1. Get naked (move to inventory)
2. Remove all buffs
3. Disable addons (I only disabled Dominos)
4. Dismiss pet (if applicable)

Spoke with Kadrak and jumped on Brutusk and the quest ran its course without hanging up again.

Got stuck on this quest for ages today and tried a combination of methods, finally got it to work.

As soon as I got stuck at the first group of mobs, I waited for the Kodo to drop dead and did the following:-

Hearth stoned
Visited a trainer and unlearned all of my talents
Got a flight path to Nozzlepot's Outpost
Rode over to just south of The Mor'Shan Rampart and dismounted
Stripped completely and ran up to Kadrak and selected to mount Kodo

Quest then worked like a dream ^^

I know a lot of people have different ways of playing with this quest until it works. I didn't bother with all that, but I did log out and back in every time it froze up, then ran back to Kadrak and retried (without abandoning the quest). It worked how it's supposed to on the third or fourth try, so you may not need to hearth, change specs, or any of that. Just try it a few times and cross your fingers. :)

I must say, that I too had the problem of getting stuck with Kadrak telling me Brutusk is "Watering the bushes"... and could not for the life of me mount to continue/complete this quest.

I read and did all the above suggested methods, abandoning, logging in/logging out, not abandoning, removing buffs, removing clothes, etc, etc, etc... nothing worked...

Until I did the "have your alliance toon come over and kill the offending Kadrak" method.

I brought my 85 Alliance DK over and killed Kadrak... upon respawning I was able to continue the quest, mount up and finish this thing... thank the heavens for having an alliance toon on my account (if not, maybe you can get a friend to help).

But doing the "alliance toon kills Kadrak" method worked for me without having to contact a GM.

THE STUCK PROBLEM:

I followed all the instructions and nothing worked. Finally, after 3 times waiting for a hearthstone cd, what i did was.... speak with Kardak, start the event. And GET YOUR HANDS OFF THE KEYBOARD and mouse. Worked for me, tried it on 2 characters already.

P.S. In the meantime, I was naked and hearthstoned like others suggesting, so be sure to do it too.

Such a blaring bug and pain in the butt to every player that has to do this quest. I guess developers never care about existing bugs it there is something new to do. Its that way on a bunch of games. Wiz101 is the same way. There are tons of bugs there that never get fixed but they always manage to come out with new areas to play.

ok guys been having same problems most of you had.
first kodo pissing in the bushes, then getting stuck at first lot of alliance scum.
fixed it after 3 days , sending in numerous tickets.
i decided to do the quests in northern barrens, while waiting for a reply from gms,
one quest asks you to escort goods to mor`shan rampart. did this , then i talked to the quest guy for "to the rescue"i still had the quest in my log.this fixed the first part i could now mount the kodo.
second part i got stuck twice at first set off alliance,i logged out to main page re logged mounted and still stuck at the first ambush, dismissed all pets and companions talked to the guy again and it worked, sry its long winded, but its what i did to get it to wrk. good luck .

Logged in & out about 7 times, disabled addons, no help. Finally logged out, ran back, abandoned quest, reaquired the quest, and all was well.

Just did this quest today.. I had to have my alli friend murder him so the kodo would quit making #1.. then natch he got stuck. I had to hearth out and while I was at it.. I took off all my spells and my two items that cause damage when I attack on auto.. then everything worked fine.

Had a problem on this quest and the conventional wisdom wasn't working. Not logging, not exiting, not riding the kodo naked... nothing.

UNTIL.

I rode down to the oasis and fished up some deviate fish. Cooked them up and turned my female tauren into a ninja.

Quest complete. Brutusk would just rather have a human on his head than a tauren. I mean, you're a tauren... ON HIS HEAD. Figures.

Crazy frustrating! Long story short, I could not get past the "watering the bushes" message for the life of me yesterday night on my L85 undead s.priest. I tried everything mentioned by all of the other commentators short of creating a GM ticket (and I have no ally friends... death to the Alliance!). Finally, I called it a night, re-enabled all of my addons, and went to bed.

I did NOT abandon the quest. I logged out on top of the roof of the outpost stand right beside Kadrak.

When I logged in today, I thought to myself, what the heck, lemme try again.

I fly down, talk to him... completed the whole quest with zero lag or cinematic stalls on the first try.

Thus my suggestion is to grab the quest, log out near Kadrak and try talking to him 24 or more hours later. I hope this works for other people; if so, please post!

Simpler solution that worked for me:

-after I got stuck, I waited for Brutusk to despawn (about 2 minutes). Kadrak just stood there, and the elves did not attack either of us.
-mounted up and rode back to Mor'shan Rampart, and then a bit further (out of the zone).
-took off animated stuff (flametongue weapon and lightning shield in my case)
-exited game and logged back in
-ran back into Mor'shan Rampart and picked up the quest again. It went through with no problem.

Found this was still broken today and tried something simple.

I flew back to Orgirmmar, and then back to Mor'shan, and that was all it took. I wasn't naked. I didn't respec. I didn't dance beneath the pale moonlight and pray to Xenu. Literally, all it took was flying back and forth.

This is what worked for me today on a priest I'm leveling:

1) Accepted quest and got stuck at first encounter
2) Waited for Brutusk to die - I was just standing there with Kadrak
3) Killed the ambushers standing in front of me
4) Mounted and rode back to the gold road (leaving Kadrak by the dead ambushers)
5) Exit game and log right back in
6) Rode up to ramparts (Kadrak and Brutusk were there)
7) Dismounted, took off all my gear, removed all my buffs, dismissed companion
8) Talked to Kadrak to start quest again

Things flew along with no problems. I'd tried other versions of this from earlier posts but it didn't work until I stripped completely, dismissed my companion, and canceled all buffs.

Best Solution for this quest:

Step 1: Open a GM ticket and tell them to mark this quest as completed.
Step 2: Wait for GM reply, suggest you go for a break or log into another character.
Step 3: GM will reply something to the tune of:

Since this quest is currently too bugged to be completed normally, we have been approved to complete this quest for players! =D That is exactly what I have done for your character, and you should be able to turn it in as soon as you log back in.

Step 4: Log into your character and walk/run to Splintertree Post
Step 5: Turn in quest.

craziest quest I've ever done. okay what I had to do to complete this silly thing. first of all, you most likely will get to where you are face to face with the first group of elves and then you stop. At this point I abandoned the quest and return to the ramparts. all the npc's had dissapeared YIKES when I flew back to rachet, nothing . completely empty. had to log off, onto another character then log off again and come back to the ramparts.
After accepting the quest again, followed other advice and removed ALL Armour and buffs, dismissed pet and then click on him a second time to begin the quest which now worked perfectly. good going blizzard, nice quality work :-)

After getting stuck three times on this quest, I finally got it to work on the fourth time. I don't know if this is what made the difference, but at the beginning, when you first talk to Kadrak, wait for him to cross over to the other side of the road. He wanders over there occasionally to talk to his tauren buddy (I forget him name). The first three times I tried, he was on the east side of the road all by himself and I got stuck each of those times. The fourth time, I talked to him when he was on the west side of the road with his tauren friend and it worked for me. I don't know if that made any difference but that's how I got it to work.

In Northern Barrens we have a lot's of LOW LEVELS quest. what do you have to do is finish all
caravans quest, because the last caravan quest will leave you at Mor'shan Ramparts.

and than you will speak with KADRAK and than you will mount on his KODO and go to this mission.

if you be lock in one of the night elf blocks, you will need to logout and login again and do it.
that's it!

EASY to finish. :)

A few days ago I couldn't even mount the kodo, just kept getting the 'He's away for a pee' message. Logged a ticket and it was resolved by the next day, the GM simply completed the quest for me which allowed me to walk to Splintertree to pick up the next part.

So the ONLY way i got this done, I tried all the other stuff and nothing worked, writing to a gm but with a 5 day waiting period(look at date) i grew impatient. I transferred an alliance toon over to my realm and killed kadrak and brutusk. An npc spawns and 1 shot me. The 2 of them respawn within seconds and I turned in quest np. So until they fix this bug anybody on area 52 horde leave a plea here or on trade chat and I will log on with my alliance toon to help u out.

Confirmation: MoP launches in 4 days. Quest is still bugged. Only way to reset NPCs is to kill them with an Alliance toon. Both Kadrak and his war kodo must die. They respawn within seconds. Be prepared for several level 90 elite Tauren hunters to spawn and murder you.

I abandoned this quest, tired of waiting.

However, I did some quests in Northern Barrens, the last one I did was Mor'shan Caravan Delivery. You get it once you save Balgor Whipshank. When you protect the caravan from aerial and foot foes, you will end up with Kadrak and he has a quest! To the Rescue! That stupid Kodo had finished watering the bushes and we went to Splintertree! Easy....

I was having the same problem with the bugged quest, but hopefully found an easy resolution.

I stopped doing Ashenvale quests and completed all of the quests in Azshara first, as these are what lead you into Ashenvale. I then returned to "To the Rescue" and was able to accompany Kadrak to Splintertree Post and open the rest of the quests.

So sick and tired of Blizzard breaking everything I have killed the Kodo 10 times for my husband and it is still bugged

In all seriousness however, if the Blizzard Dev team can't fix the problem then it's time to eliminate it. Change it to a simple "take the quest, schlep your butt to Splintertree Post, turn in to the version of Kadrak that's stationed in STP" quest and have done.

Granted the cut scene is fun, but having to make everyone sit there waiting for a GM is not worth it.

This quest is bugged, and contacting a GM is the best way to resolve this as they will complete the quest for you, though having an Alliance member kill Kadrak and Brutusk does indeed work, as this happened to me about an hour ago.
However, you do need to strip/de-buff/dismount/dismiss pets for it to work.

The best solution for now is to open a ticket, had a response within 10 minutes and he marked it as complete for me.

This quest is still giving the "Brutusk is out watering the bushes right now" message as of 12/30/2012. For what it's worth, right now it's saying the average ticket wait time is 2 days 4 hours.

Hello,

As of 31-12-2012 quest is still bugged.
Before you do all the options above only try one which seems to be the best solution.

Problem I think is whenever who gets to do the quest 1st every day has no problem. All who come after does. So only way to do it is kill Kadrak and reset him.

Get the quest, log out beside him, get your alliance to kill him ( he respawns like within 15 secs)
Log to your horde again and there you go. Dont have to abandon quest.

Let the event happen and you can continue.

Ps (this is however for not being able to mount at all and get the watering the bushes message)

I got it to work by first dropping the quest. Then i took ALL my clothes off, rings etc. can't leave anything on. Then i took off any buff's i had. Then i accepted the quest, and re-talked to him to say i was ready and it worked. No watering the bushes this time :)

i was having stuck issues with it saying brutusk is out watering bushes along with a statement to click saying i'll be waiting when kadrak is ready

i tried everything listed on this forum, and more.

GM ended up completing the quest and placing my player at splintertree post at kadrak to turn in the quest

Okay I know there are a few ways. A somewhat tricky one is to wait for the daily RESET of the dailies. But the surefire way is to submit the GM ticket about the quest.

Those of you seeking a faster resolution to this currently bugged quest, I suggest asking an Alliance player to kill him or use an alt of your own.

Once he respawns the event will be repaired and completable, regardless of which side of the road he is on (or any other black magic voodoo).

Don't even try to do any of the suggestions that you see posted here. The quest is broken. I opened a ticket and a gm immediately responded. He asked me to log into an alt for a few mintues while he fixed what was going on. Did the same for my friend I was questing with. So again, don't even bother trying any thing you see in the posts, open a ticket.

Came accross this quest today and it was still bugged during 5.1 A work around for it that my friend showed me was he logged onto his alliance charicter and killed Kadrak, When he respawned I was able to compleat this quest.

After Pandaria, spawned guards are level 90 and one hit you. If you try the "kill Kadrak and Brutusk as Alliance" fix, be sure to use a level 90 Alliance, or atleast as close to 90 as you can get. Anything less gets one hit, as stated before.

I stripped off then logged out, played another toon, came back and it was still "watering".
So i closed down for the night.
Came back the next morning and it worked.
It appears that there's probably a several hour timer on this quest between accepting and going.
I failed to accept the quest first up, 2nd was "watering", 3rd was "let's go".

Brutusk was watering a hell of alot of bushes for me, so I took the advice of one guy and sent a GM ticket in. When I logged out I had a day and 20 hour waiting time on it but came back to an email (about fifty minutes after logging out) saying a GM had set the quest to complete for me and it had been raised as glitched.

Brutusk is definitely helping to keep the Barrens well tended :D

I don't know if 5.2 fixed it or if it was just a coincidence, but I finally got the quest to work. Still need to go back on one other toon to try it though just to make sure it's not a lucky break on this one toon.

IF YOU ARE HAVING ISSUES STARTING THIS QUEST:

Hearth or fly to Orgrimmar. When you land, drop the quest and dismiss pet (if you have one). Fly back to Mor'Shan Ramparts. Accept quest and talk to NPC. He should have the option now to start the event. I noticed that when I flew back, he was in a different location with the quest.

I have had this problem in 2 different horde alts i was leveling.
And both times i have fixed it by logging in to my alliance main ( it has to be highest level posible i was 85 when it happened to me during cata and 90 in mop).

Fly to the pallisade and kill kadrak (and probably everyone around him).

Next you relog as your horde character and kadrak will be there waiting for you to end this questline.

If the quest is bugged for you, try having a friend from another realm invite you. It will pull you to that realm and possibly fix the issue.

The quest is still bugged, however, Blizzard has added a new option: "This seems urgent, Kadrak. There must be another way!", which puts you on a wind rider to Splintertree Post instead.

but I found a new option " it is urgent, " I forget the rest :<

It seems that there had been a hotfix regarding this quest. When he says the Kodo is out "watering the bushes", you now have a second option to select. This will put you on a windrider and take you directly to Splitertree Post.

This is the end of the buggy quest complaints. Celebrations!

When the Kodo stops and you cant turn in the quest Go back to Kadrack (At Barrens) talk to him and get the fly mount.

As of 05/04/2014 you don't ride Brutusk for this quest anymore:
Got it and when I was ready to go talked to Kadrak and he said he'd meet me there and sent me on a windrider. When I got there he was standing right where the windrider droped me off and no sign of Brutusk around. Guess GMs were sick of people oppening tickets because the quest didn't work.

As of 6.2, this quest is still bugged. The hotfix works, but not the true event. I simply logged an alliance toon and killed Kadrak along with Brutusk. Event worked fine when I tried with my horde toon.

But you know, I really don't think it is. Just the other day I ran this quest on a quiet server, and there was no issues. The quest took off shortly after I told Kadrak I was ready, and off went. But today, I have the "he's taking a piss, back off" and the option to fly on the bat. I've flown on the bat on other characters, and it's quicker, but you miss some cool scenes.

Rather than "bugged" though, I'm pretty sure this is just an issue with other players. If the quest has been accepted by someone else recently, or they are on the other Brutusk quest - or they are in Ashenvale at Splintertree doing any other the other phasing quests - then you get this message.

If you are the first one here, then you don't have to wait for it to reset. Not really a bug, just a slow ass reset

Still bugged, but it seems it can work if you don't close the chat window on completing the previous quest, but don't accept the new one until the Brutus you rode in on fade away. (You can turn your char to watch this) Immediately after it vanishes, accept the quest, and you should be able to do it.

Still bugged, but as seems to be random as to whether it will work for your character or not. Previous thought of as bugged "for some realms" it appears to be completely random, as I have had characters get the quest ithout issue, and others have to take the taxi on the same realm

So here it is Feb 2018 and it still isn't fixed? I exited game, logged back in after a few minutes and I was mounted on my horse at the first crossroad out of Mor'shan Ramparts. No hostiles so I figure I would just ride my horse to Splintertree Post. I got there and Kadrak is there with a white ? over his head.
I flew back to MR and dropped the quest. I was going to remove my clothes like I read here but I also read to just remove weapon. I removed my heirloom weapon and accepted quest and it worked perfect. Quest finished.

So this did “bug” out on me like most others have experienced. I jumped on a flight back to where I picked up the quest and spoke to the guy again and he sent me on a flight back. Once I landed the quest was ready for turn in. I did not remove any gear nor did I drop the quest! I was only out the 26 or so coppers for the flight back to the initial pick up point.

As I saw a lot of back-and-forth about this quest, I decided to test it.

The verdict: There's a long reset time for the quest. It's one of those frustrating ones, probably similar in issue to the Gilnean 'Endgame' quest, where if someone has recently started it, you have to wait. Maybe logging out meanwhile messes it up.

It took me about 10 tries over the course of a day for him to finally give me the option to take the ride; the rest of the time he was 'watering the bushes.' There were 3 other players in the area when I started the quest.

I WILL say it does take you to another phasing. The moment I started it, the other players in the area disappeared for me. Because of this, there's probably no way to tell if someone's midway through the quest/etc.. I didn't do anything special to make it finally work, I just kept logging back in from time to time to check if it'd work.

Hopefully this will put an end to the debate.

If you want to see what happens, there are videos on it. Otherwise, the basic premise is, Brutusk isn't just a normal Kodo, and Kadrak can harness his ability to use electricity and shockwave attacks. He is, in the end, taken down by an Ancient, who Kadrak then murders by throwing an axe at his face.

Seems they have added a work around to this. When I opened the quest window, accepted the quest and went to talk to the npc, it said he was watering the bushes so I thought '$%^&..it's going to bug on me' but then I noticed a conversation option to the effect of 'This seems to be an emergency' so I selected it and it put me on a flight path and the npc saying he'd meet me there. When I landed, the quest compled -- so, maybe tentatively fixed? haha

What worked for me was...at Splintertree ( I went there on foot because I handed in a quest for the big grypon...{cant remember his name...sharpbeak or something} at Silverwind Refuge) I reloaded the screen while standing at the flight point in Splintertree then took a filght to Mogashan Ramparts went over to quest npc Kadrak and accepted the ride for Splintertree and it was fine from there.

So first time i spoke to Kadrak to start the ride, it got stuck facing the nightelves - just a staring contest. I had no button to dismount, so i had to try relog. That worked, ended up standing there alone.

- At this point i made a pointless visit to Splintertree but it's useless. Kadrak was there waiting but didn't offer or trigger anything. -

Went back to Kadrak at the ramparts and started the ride again. This time all went smooth.
Note: I did not abandon the quest at any point.

Now you just fly to Splintertree on a wyvern and turn the quest in.

This quest is bugged atm. Picked up the quest, tried to talk to Kadrak to continue, and it will not let me talk to him at all. I disabled addons, I reset my ui, I dropped the quest and reaccepted it, I even tried just running to the end point, nothing works. Had to open a ticket up and wait three days just for them to mark it as task completed.

If you end up in Splintertree Post unable to turn the quest in, go back to Mor'Shan Ramparts and talk to Kadrak (42.6 15.0) to get back on Brutusk.

If anyone gets stuck on this with it only saying "Brutusk is out watering the bushes right now." and not giving an option to fly instead, simply abandon the quest and retake it. Worked like a charm and gave both options for Brutusk and the wyvern.

Did they restore the original version of this quest? I literally just completed this quest and it was the old version where you ride on the Kodo. I've seen a lot of people mentioning it was replaced with a wyvern flight but that's definitely not what I just experienced.
