These mobs are quite tough, doing instant knock back which drains your mana and deal damage. If you are a caster, make sure you dont pull too many.

I killed about 15 to get my three pages, combined them and the quest was complete.

I was able to solo this as a 79 Hunter. Stay out of range of the mana burn and I used my SR gear from Mother which really made me and my pet more durable. Pages 2 and 3 dropped right away, Page 1 took about 15 more kills.

Do not be put off by the 3 man suggestion. Soloable easily

Yes the knockback and damage can be a problem but these guys go down so fast, I'm specced fury warrior atm but was wary after reading posts here.

Run straight down the middle to the back and you can pick off two mobs 1 at a time at the back west side. waiting for the patrol on the east to get clear you can pick off a group of three together, I only needed to use 1 interupt and they were dead. This leaves another solo mob open in the rear east. Then with a clear area the returning 2 patrolling guys in the east side can be taken out. At this point you can wait in the safe area at the centre of the rear of the building for respawns or if you are not having problems taking on 3 at a time then run back up the middle to the entrance. Now there is a 3 group on each side which will allow you access to the single or double mobs on the outsides, I took down the 3 on the east side and I was done. Didn't get 1 knock back at all.

Can easily be soloed, the mobs you need to kill all have around 10k hp so it should be np at lvl 80.

Took me about 3 kills for the first page.
About 10 kills for the second.
About 30 kills for the third.

Took about 15mins.

Easy to solo. The only thing you have to realize is that the researchers do some crazy pushback damage (think druid's typhoon) after a few seconds into combat. They're non-elites in groups of 1 or 3. You have to kill 3-10ish to get all the pages.

The researchers are actually inside the Aldur'thar, theres an entrance just left of where the summoning crystal is.

The pushback drains your mana and I believe does the amount of damage = the mana drained. As a pally, the pushback did like 3k+ and drained 3k+ mana. Also the shadow bolts and mind blast crit around 2k. So having three on you , you may wanna be cautious, but it is completely soloable. The researchers drop a page , combine three and your done

IDK wat ability it is but it does crazy damage taking 2 Fury spec Warrior with about 18k HP at the end of fight i had about 3k hp its crazy. Non-elite, soloable but dont take more than 2 at a time

..why is this a group quest? they might hit ha...err, for a tiny bit more than normal mobs but they have 10k hp or less. They are basically one-shottable, lol.

Terrible droprate. I had to kill about 20 of them to get the three pages. As a mage the groups of three were pretty easy though, so long as I kept my distance. ;)

Strange enough, I got the pages while helping a guildie to do some quest there (including killing an elite at the end) but ... I don't have "Need More Info" quest!

I guess when i get that quest it would be instantly done while I keep the item on my inv.

This is super easy as a rogue. Sap one of them and proceed to kill the others. If it's a group of three, I used blade flurry and Killing Spree and they went down like deflated balloons. For groups of two I sapped one and killed the other, trying to have my back against the wall. I killed about 10 to get all 3 pages. Good luck!

After getting raped by these mobs on my spriest i found an easy way to take a grp. First clear the 2 guards at the entrance cause they will push u that far. 2nd send ur shadow fiend and use fade and dot all 3 of the mobs and burn one down and it should be easy mode from there.

I easily soloed this quest as an 80 mage. I did have to stop and drink up after each fight, but I didn't have any problems. Not even with the 3 man groups. I generally Frostfired one, and then sheeped another. DPS those 2 down, and then got the third one no problem.

Actually rather difficult for a protection paladin, regardless of gear. They do spell damage and mana burn, both of which really suck for this spec. They won't kill you, but you can expect the packs of three to take a long time, and you'll have to drink between every single pull. Use your abilities ASAP, cuz your mana won't last long.

DEFINITELY don't get knocked into a second group.

Was on this quest for almost an hour downing the researchers trying to get the 3rd page. It would not drop. After abandoning the quest and coming back got the first two to drop and then kept grinding for the 3rd page.

I eventually gave up cause I couldn't get the last page to drop. Got a bunch of green drops and vendor trash so it wasn't a total loss, but this sucked.

Somebody said 5 to 10 researchers would drop the 3 papers, I must have killed 20 and still got only 2... bad luck I guess, and NO I'm not confusing the researchers with the channelers. Couldn't finish because of server restart, will try again later.

Warlocks, this quest is going to suck for you. Don't think you can AoE down large groups- the collective mana burn (and damage) will quickly suck your health pool down to the point where you simply don't have the mana to cast any AoE spells or the health to life tap to get some. Engage from full health, at a distance, DPS the hell out of the pulled mobs, one by one. Heal back to full, rinse and repeat, you'll die a few times but it is doable.

Wow, even after reading these posts, I was still amazed at how quickly they can kill you.

As a resto druid, I nuked one until it was dead, then shadowmelded.

Even being a healer doesnt make this one easy. :)

Took two attempts on my 80 fire mage. Was able to sidestep the first three-pull because a horde group took them out; two-pulls were easy by sheeping one (though knockbacks caused some problems.) However, there's a very high repop rate in that chamber, so I died due to repop aggro (after getting pages 2 and 3.) Second visit, two-pulls only, got the final page on the second pull.

Soloed easily as an 80 Boomkin. It's simple, they come in mobs of 3 or so, prowl your way around if you want to the back for more of them and to get around those channelers. Starfire's good for really high crits depending how good your haste rating is obviously. Or just wrath the hell out of them with the occasional typhoon. From experience, starfall = VERY bad idea even with glyph of focus... it's just unnecessary. Easy quest though, definitely soloable haha.

I soloed this quest this morning with a marksman-spec level 80 hunter and ferocity pet. My toon has middling gear (not too good nor too bad). The triple mobs are a challenge and the mana-drain a pain. Proper aggro and crowd management is required.

I died three times because of the knock-back on the pet. I misplayed that part so learn from my mistake. I believe this is soloable without dying if you play it right.

For the triple-mobs, freeze one, send the pet on the second, and use MD to aggro the third. Keep Mend Pet up. The mobs are not too hard to kill if you can burn them down before they use mana-drain. The double-mobs are not bad at all.

Fighting without mana is a pain. :)

I recommend staying along the wall too. The knock-back effect is mitigated and it's relatively easy to stay out of aggro range if you're careful.

79 prot warrior solo'd this, just pull the group around the other side of the poles, up against it. this will make it so they cant knock you back, and get them in close range.

Easy as a mage, frost mage myself. Sheep one, have WE kill another and you kill the third. They rarely drain mana if you have good gear and down them fast.

The quest summary says repeatable, but I can't find the equivalent daily quest. Pages continue to drop after completing the initial quest, suggesting that there's a matching daily.

Easily solable as retadin. When you enter, if you run to the little altar in the back, there's a pack of 2 standing around. You can take them out before they knockback.

After that, there's a lone researcher against the wall. After him, there's a 2 pack that paths right to you. If you need to kill more, you can 2 pull the guys around the table. Just put your back against the wall so you don't go flying around if they knock you back, but the only time I got knocked back was when I tried to take a 3 pack.

I have cleared the entire room 20 times now and have only gotten Page 2 to drop. Has this quest been changed in patch 4.2?
Been farming for several hours.

Spoke to a GM and apparently there have been other complaints about the drop rate since patch 4.2.2.

HOW TO DO THIS QUEST: I can no longer see the post that made this so easy! It more or less said ..... (and kudos to this post-er) ...... the Researchers are INSIDE Aldur'Thar tower at the NORTH end of the North-South roadway. The entrance is on the SAME level as that roadway., and (facing north) just to the left of the Summoning Stone (remember dat from earlier quests?). Ok, now yer on yer own, with all that class-specific gobblydegook above, for which Wowhead is NOT the correct forum. Seriously ..... if you can't play yer toon by this time, don't come here to look fer tips on how to complete quests.

The researchers do not have their names highlighted, nor when you hover over them, it does not say your quest progress.

For those who need more than GPS coordinates, the Screenshot of the doorway gives a good clue to where to find this one.

Or you can use your Map. Fly to the word "Aldurthar" just below The Shadow Vault. Fly until your cursor is touching the letter "U" in the word. That's where the doorway of the room will be, if you line up with the letter U in the word you'll be facing it. Inside that room you'll find your Cult Researchers.

Did this one while going for LoreMaster. The mobs are basic, not elite. You might have to kill most of them in the room before you get all 3 pages, but it's not that difficult.

I got page 1 and 3 dropped almost immediately but couldn't get page 2. I've abandoned a quest only to find out later, that (i couldn't remember why) page 2 was sitting in my bank. So basically, page will not drop if you have one in your bank. Even worst, combining pages will not work unless all are in your backpack.

Description
