as a demo warlock I hated this quest... no demon out while summoning your abo... :-(

and dont pull too much. you abmination will go down too fast and then all creeps are after you. Sometimes the explosion doesnt kill all enemies. This is the time to run ;-) You can only have one quest item (unique).

best place: 70,60 (good spawn rate of abominations and almost no other enemy)

As stated above, you cannot have any pet active when you click the Abomination Reanimation Kit, mages should note that this also counts for Water Elemental. Clicking the kit when you have a pet will waste your Chilled Abomination Guts, telling you that you already have one active, and you will need to get a new one. It appears to me that guts only drops when you don't have one already, meaning, killing many and stacking up guts to summon many after continuously is not an option.

This said, when your first doing it, gather as many mobs as you can, and blow him up as soon as he's below 10-15% hitpoints.
To anyone who's doing this quest pre-80, you get experience two times in a row, first time, and as a daily. I don't know if you get experience if you do it again tomorrow.

I was having trouble getting the mobs I blew up to actually count toward the quest, turns out you actually need to TAG the mobs to get them to count. So just round up a bunch, use an AoE, and THEN explode your Abom. Just blowing him up isn't sufficient, you gotta tag the mobs first.

Another terrible rehashing of the Zul'Drak abomination quest in which you do exactly the same thing, and it sucks just as much the second time. Make sure you're within range of your abomination when you make it explode, otherwise you get zero credits. I can't count the times, between this quest and the other, I lost kill credits because they were out of range. So $%^&ing lame.

Edit: Sometimes being close isn't even enough to legitimize your credit for kills. These quests are buggy as #$%^, and unless you're super desperate for experience or their terrible green rewards, skip them.

If you're a paladin, druid, warrior, or dk, there's a fairly simple strategy that gets this done fast. Put on your best tanking gear or if you don't have any, pvp gear. Summon the abomination and put it on passive. Then run through and aggro as much as you can. Keep going until you're at about 50% health and use the abomination explode ability. Just make sure that the direction you're tossed in doesn't have any mobs.

Using this strategy, I was able to finish the quest using only 2 explodes. If I were prot specced I could probably have done it with one explode.

I ran in, prot warrior, and tanked a good 30+ of them, thunderclapping, etc etc to make sure I tagged everything.

I exploded the abomination, and nothing. I tried this several times, nothing. I think this quest is totally broken.

Kill a Hulking Abomination for the Chilled Abomination Guts. Summon pet... put it to passive, make sure you're able to take some hits, run into a crowd of about 100 of them, stun them on every cd so your abomination gets aggro and explode once your abomination is about to die... 15/15 for every mob, simple as that

As a paladin doing this quest:

When I divine shielded after tagging all the mobs, summoning my abom and corpse exploding it, I got absolutely no credit.

When I used Blessing of Protection instead, I got full credit. The mobs also didn't die - the first group I exploded I had to Lay on Hands to escape, and the second... well, let's just say I didn't have Lay on Hands. ^_^

Well, being the squishy mage that I am, I summon my abo in a safe zone, then send it to agro as many mobs as it can, and *boom*

I don't know if the problem with not receiving credit has been fixed, but it worked well for me, and I was quite far from the exploding mess. All in all I had to summon 3 or 4 abos to get the job done, and I'll gladly do it again tomorrow, found this immensely amusing.

Took me a while to figure it out... On the Alliance version of this quest, someone was kind enough to give the keybinds for the Abomination, which don't seem to show up sometimes.

So just use the following commands:

Ctrl-1: Attack
Ctrl-2: Stay
Ctrl-4: Flatulence (AoE which also knocks back)
Ctrl-5: Detonate

The strategy is the same as in the Zul'Drak quest... Send the Abomination in, tag a few mobs by attacking them and Flatulating, then when you have a nice bunch of mobs, just Detonate and you'll kill them instantly.

Be sure to Detonate before your Abomination goes down, otherwise you'll have a bunch of angry mobs on your tail. Also, some mobs might not get stuck by the explosion, so be ready to run until you lose the mobs. All in all, 2-3 shots of this and you'll have the quest.

I tried every method listed above and it seems like I would only get credit randomly. Most of the time though I would blow up the Abomination and not get credit for a single kill. Also each time I summoned the pet I would not get a pet bar and would have to /console reloadui to get it to show up.

Copy/paste from the alliance version:

This is what I did.

Please note that while he does not disappear while you mount up, you can not use Abomination abilities.

What I did (I had an epic flyer) was raise an abom, mount up, and fly over the mobs I needed killed. When I had enough mobs gathered up and the abom was almost dead, I dismounted and immediately blew the abomination up. Took 3 or 4 fly overs.

Note: you'll probably get blown into a mob or two, be ready for that.

The quest is buggued, most of the time the kills are not counted.

Don't summon the monster if you have your treans up, while doing the quest in moonkin, the summoning will fail, and you will loose a reagent.

Easy way:
Get to the side of the area and summon your pet.
Then MOUNT, your pet will go passive mode and won't be left behind. Run around on your mount gathering as many mobs as you can. When you have enough or think you'll lose their aggro soon dismount and hit explode instantly.

To ensure you get credit for corpse explosions, do the following:

- Stay VERY close to the abomination when pulling + exploding - you should be knocked back from the explosion
- Don't pull too much - 6-10 per pull
- Use discretion when using the "flatulence" ability - make sure to wait a few seconds after using it before detonating the abomination

I found this quest to be quite aggravating, until I worked out how to ensure getting credit for the kills. I hope this helps others avoid potential headaches. :)

After multiple attempts at getting this quest complete, thinking it's bugged and whatnot, I have an important tip...

Make sure when you send in your abomination, your character (not the abom) does NOT aggro a single mob. That way you can gather as many as you want with the abom, do the AOE damage spell, and then blow it up for credit. If your character grabs aggro on just 1 mob in that camp, you will not get credit.

Just as for many other, this quest didn't award me any kills when I started it (just like the quest in ZD). To begin with I just used the abomination to tag mobs and when I got enough (or ran low on health) I blew him up. But alas, no registered kills.

However, I found myself getting every single kill registered once I just right clicked any single mob after I sent my abomination in to tag stuff. I never actually hit the mob, just 'went into combat' so to speak. Stayed fairly close (but not close enough to get thrown back by his self destruct). So, just make sure to be in combat before you blow him up.

Can't guarantee that it will work for everyone, but at least I got this quest to work for me this way.

Wow... the amount of people complaining about this quest is silly.

The quest is NOT poorly designed. If you can't do it, you are just full of epicfail.

All you do is:
-Kill Hulking Abomination.
-Loot Guts.
-Create Reanimated Abomination.
(Now you control a pet! Yay!)
-Target mob.
-Send abomination to "tag."
-Target another mob; "tag."
-Target another mob... "tag."

At this point, he should have a fair amount of mobs on him. When he gets to LOW health, make him explode!
Note! If he has a decent amount of health left when you make him explode, any mobs he didn't kill WILL chase you.

Repeat the steps as necessary until you get your kills. It's actually a fun quest, I enjoyed it.
I stood off to the edge (specifically at 70,62) and sent him to gather a few mobs at once (sent him to 69,61). That way he wasn't too far away and I got my kills.

Found that I could not have more than one Chilled Abomination Guts in my inventory at a time, so I killed one abomination and then used it to kill an abomination to get the next Chilled Abomination Guts.

Then I went off and killed some mobs.

Rinse and repeat until done!

Ok, sorry for my rage post. I'm a little calmer (it's been 3 hours and I still haven't completed this quest; I have to say I'm a pretty good gamer but maybe tonight is not my night). As a level 80 full rares (from quest) demonology warlock, let me list all the ways I died (16 deaths so far).

First of all, if you use the bag when you have ur felguard out the quest item from the abomination disappears, and u have to kill another.

Death- there's a crapload of monsters in this area. If you dismiss your felguard (which you have too) you'll get owned by all these guys. If you're patient (unlike me) always summon a felguard, healthstone and kill the abomination. Then, dismiss felguard and send abomination.

Now it gets better. The abomination doesn't seem to want to explode when you want it to. I can freaking guarantee that at 25% life, I spammed the explode button a million times, but he would just die, and then I would die. If it did work, then I would still get a bunch of monsters on me from the fart radius but not the explosion radius. And then I'd die. Or it would succeed, but I'd have a bunch of normal monsters on me, and since I have no felguard, I would die. If i decided to get close to the quest monsters, I would die from them because even though the abomination is close to them, they still agro me. I am not kidding when I say I died 16 times (so far) I know the concept is simple. Get an abomination, go in, once it is at less than 30%, explode it. But for some reason, this quest just leaves me dying and un#$%^ingbeliavbly (new word) frustrated. And I have 11 quests left for this areas zone quest achievements so I don't want to stop now. Sigh........

Edit: I'm literally crying right now because I finally finished this godforsaken quest.

Step 1: Go and kill an abomiantion around 71, 61.
Step 2: Making sure you do not have any pets out, use the bag and summon your abomination. SET HIM TO PASSIVE.
Step 3: Kill another nearby abomination and take his guts too.
Step 4: Without mounting, go and aggro the mobs you wish to explode. gather as many as you possibly can WITHOUT LEASHING THE ORIGINAL PULLS! Don't take too long, say, 10 seconds between aggroing the first mobs and detonation time, to be on the safe side.

THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART

Step 5: With your soon to be exploded mobs chasing you and/or your abomination around, stop, use flatulence, wait for 2 ticks of the AoE damage to go off, then wait another second. about 3 seconds total. Click the explosion ability. Watch your credit counter go right up.

Rinse, repeat.

As a prot warrior, I gather up about 30-40 mobs, shield wall, shield block, using demo shout to aggro at a decent radius. When I'm done getting the mobs together, this method works for me 100% of the time.

As a level 79 enhancement shaman, once I got the trick down to it I found it rather easy. I find it hard to figure out what everyone is complaining about, as the quest is not really all that hard.

What I did is pop my ghost wolf form for a speed boost and just run with my risen abomination directly into a pack of mobs. I then dropped Magma Totem for AoE, and used the Flatulence skill. Then I simply made sure I was facing away from the gate and told the abomination to explode. Got a bunch of kills, and I went flying away from the action without worries of extra aggro. And as stated by SunkaRage, have a 2nd set of guts handy so you can go raise another abomination right away.

Just make sure you have a lot of mobs around, and just click explode. Responds fine for me. I imagine it's a bit different for a caster class or ones who rely on summoning a pet, but I doubt it's as impossible as a lot of posters are making it seem.

Quite possibly one of the worst quests in the game(this coming from a player with The Seeker title). I am not sure who or what designed this quest but it does not work for the most part as of patch 3.0.8a, the ONLY way to complete this is to grab the guts run into the Mord'rethar area and aoe tag the mobs somehow. I sincerely hope blizzard fixes this quest soon however so it does not take 30-45 minutes to complete.

Not a well designed quest, however, if you need to do it, here are a few pointers.

>MAKE SURE the DoT has run down off the mobs before exploding the abomination. If you do not do this, you will not get credit at all.

>Sometimes the mobs simply evade and refresh. To fix this, only take a few at a time. I went for 15 a go, and cleared in 3 abominations.

>Explode the abom early. Don't try to get those last few mobs, with 15 mobs on the abom, they take out 40% of his hp in one shot.

>Persist. Sometimes your aboms simply fail. Sometimes the explode button doesn't work. If this happens, run away. It is annoying, yes, but you only have to do the non-daily version once.

On me this quest glitched.. the Abomination had NO PET BAR! Complaining about it to some friends it seems this has happened to others before. I died twice and went through three abominations with zero kills to my quest credit before I finally came here and found, "...and then you make the abomination explode." mentioned again and again. I didn't even know the Abomination was supposed to Have a pet-bar until I looked up the quest here.

Seriously, this is the kind of quest blizz developers come up with when they want to reduce server load by inspiring current subscribers to slit their own wrists.

If you want to do some of the later quests in this chain, do this one. If you're just out looking for XP (or gold at 80) do other quests and leave this one alone for the sake of your sanity.

1. kill abom
2. loot guts
3. summon abom
4. use pet bar commands to make it attack 3-4 mobs. Stay on the perimeter of the giant spawn area.

I think this quest may be bugged currently. When the abomination is summoned, as of right now there is no pet bar to command him. I am familiar with the procedure as I did the same/similar quest in Zul'Drak right before coming back to this one. I killed 3 abominations in a row, each time I used the guts, and each time, no pet command bar.

If you are getting this same bug when trying to do this quest it is NOT just you.

This is one is a HUGE pain in the ass if you're a hunter. You need your pet to kill the abominations, and then you need to dismiss it to use the reanimation kit. And no, the chilled guts don't stack, once you have one another won't drop until you've used the first one.

So yeah, it's a game of dismissing and calling your pet until you finish it.

To make things even better, the quest is bugged. Not always will he kills count towards the quest. Keep it up and eventually you'll get it.

The most reliable way to get credit for the kills seems to be to obtain the guts, mount up, gather the mobs, dismount, THEN summon the abomination and explode.

Is it just me or are the majority of these comments from &*!@ed off warlocks? Well add another one to the list, this quest @#$%ing sucks. Not only do you have to keep dismissing and resummoning your minion to kill abominations and then use them, but by the time you've got a group large enough to blow your abomination up, you also destroy the only thing that has aggro, and subsequently 101 mobs pwn your unprotected squishy ass. Rinse and repeat until you actually have the quest objectives complete and the reward money will just about cover your repair costs. Way to make an incredibly stupid quest Blizzard.

This quest is really frustrating. Sometimes you collect 10-15 mobs and when you explode the abomination, you don't even get credit for the kills.

Demo Lock here. This quest was freaking easy. I just used the strategies from the top and rounded up big numbers with the abomination and my flying mount. The only problem I had was when my abomination died RIGHT before I clicked the 'splosion button. It only took me 3 successful pulls to get it all, out of about seven attempts. Also, those abominations are incredibly easy to solo without a felguard or other demon.

As with the quest in Zul'Drak which is very similar, this is currently a little buggy and not incredibly intuitive.

If you are having trouble getting credit for your kills, make sure you are in The Broken Front when you explode the abomination, make sure they have been hit with the fart-stun at least once, and for good measure (although I'm not entirely sure it makes a difference) staying close to the abomination might help, too.

Quest is currently bugged. I've exploded him three times on the correct mobs, all three times none of them died. All thirty mobs charged me.

I've done this quest many times and it seems like most of the time I dont get credit for the kills, thats very frustrating. I suggest bypassing this quest for other dailies that give you credit more on a reliable basis. Blizzard should really correct this quest.

This is very simple. Now, you might not like this method, but here's what I did.

1. Got the guts, and summoned the abomination.
2. Put the abomination on passive, then targeted whatever was available.
3. Sent the abomination in for an attack.
4. Used the flatulence stun, then blew up the abomination.
5. Repeated steps 1 through 4 until I had all the kills needed.

If you do it properly and are a fair distance away, they shouldn't aggro you, however, if they do, you can either run away or kill them. Just be sure you're at full health before you do this.

That's how I got it done, and I'll be doing it this way again.

I've been having a problem with this quest for a week or two now. Every time I try to go do the quest, I kill an abomination for guts, then I get closer to the area with the quest mobs and summon the abomination.
Every time, the abomination appears and then immediately despawns. I'm a shaman, I have no pets out and no totems up when summoning. Is there a trick to this or just bugged?

I found that two vital pieces of information were missing from the other comments:

1. Your abomination pet will not kill any mobs in the Broken Front. Your abomination must be detonated inside the Mordrethar gate area. This is quite close to the wall, where there are ramparts on the ground. If you detonate your abomination in the Broken Front it will do minimal damage and possibly aggro a lot of mobs.
2. There are no abominations in the area where detonating your pet will be lethal to the mobs. So you must kill an abomination in the Broken Front, re-animate it, walk it closer to Mordrethar area, target a mob in the Mordrethar area, command pet to charge and detonate when you pet reaches your target.

Other comments mention a lot of artful techniques such as stunning enemies and waiting for the stun to wear off, or detonating while your pet has lots of health. None of it was necessary for my DK. By the simple expedient of going back and getting a new pet, walking it close to the area and sending it in, I got pretty satisfactory results and finished the quest after around six assaults.

You have to be IN The Broken Front for the abomination to not disappear once you summon him... or "it."

EDIT: After 3 tries in Mord'rethar: The Death Gate, the abomination just disappeared right after I summoned it.

Can anyone confirm?

I could NOT figure out why my abomination kept despawning randomly. I submitted several frustrated tickets and even talked with a very nice GM in realtime (thanks Glasslill!); they ported me to the right place, I engaged in combat-- and got myself killed from pulling too many, whoops-- but since the despawning problem didn't repeat, they sent me on my way. Then the abominations kept despawning (!), and I was ready to give up-- until I figured out why.

DO NOT GET TOO CLOSE TO THE DEATH GATE.

If you see your zone change from The Broken Front to Mord'rethar: The Death Gate, your abomination will despawn (because it's out of its usable zone) and leave you to fend off a sudden rampage of undead. Stay in The Broken Front!

Once I figured this out, quest was easy-peasy. =)

As a mage, I found this quest very interesting. It gives an enormous amount of experience if done correctly. What I did, was that I (as a frost mage) popped Ice Barrier just in case, and then ran in with the abomination and pulled everyone in a row straight forward, and then ice lance'd some on the sides to get as many as possible. Then I stunned everyone with the abom-ability, before I did an arcane explosion or two, to damage the mobs. Then, when I explode the abomination, not only do I get credit for the quest, I also get credit for the kills, getting all the loot and experience.

Side note: you won't be able to loot all the mobs due to the respawn rate, but hell... 30k experience ain't that bad either. :)

I died many times trying to do this quest, but I think I've finally figured out the best way to approach it.

Unlock what the comments above me may suggest, it is a terrible idea to run in and aggro the mobs. You'll likely be dazed and you and your abomination will be killed by the mobs. If you want to run in, you will need to pull and kill ALL the mobs, because the abomination's explosion will blast you as well, and likely into another sea of mobs.

So, moving with your abomination is a bad idea. But luckily, you can command your pet to move to locations via the handy pet bar (activate it if you haven't already, and keep it somewhere accessible). There is a casting range on where you can tell your abomination to move, but if you stand close to the spear fence just outside of aggro range, you should be able to send your abomination far enough to get the kills you need.

Of course, you will need to create multiple abominations using this method. However, you shouldn't die too much this way.

The best way I found to do this quest using the newest modification to the pet bar was to kill the abomination that paces along the wall around 70.7, 60.7 and use his guts to summon your first abomination. From a distance have the abomination(pet) move into the ramparts where it will get attacked by mobs and when you see it draw aggro explode it, killing all it can. You can not gather more than on gut at a time now and the abomination moves so slowly there is little worry about the re-spawn rate of the abominations to gather guts from.
Using this method it should be a simple explode, refresh, reuse method that hopefully can avoid any deaths.
As a Hunter I never had to dismiss my pet. When I would summon a new abomination pet it automatically replaced the one I had out, so all I ever did was to call a pet after each explosion.

For the people who want to know how to unlock this questline with Koltira so they can get the shoulderplates for transmog purposes, I finally unlocked the first mission of it after finishing the early Argent Crusade questline in Icecrown and unlocking the Crusader's Pinnacle flight point. When you turn in the quest "Orgrim's Hammer" from the dying soldier inside the Crusader's Pinnacle Inn, the Orgrim's Hammer quests all unlock.

I thought this quest was bugged but it is not I play several toons with pets so I did not pay attention to the abominations command buttons. There are two buttons on the right one make him fart the other makes it explode. Also, if you're going back to do quest at a higher level for lore master it's probably easier to gather up a bunch of unfriendly and then summon the abomination and make it explode.

I've noticed that if you use the quest item to create an abomination while you have a summoned pet/demon etc out, you won't get the spell bar for the abomination to control him.

Thus warlocks, hunters, mages, any class with a companion - get rid of your summons before trying the quest.

Worst quest I've seen in a long time.

1) Kill a Hulking Abomination and loot Chilled Abomination Guts. They roam near the downed siege equipment.
2) Click the Abomination Reanimation Kit in your inventory.
3) Locate your pet bar. Put the abomination on passive.
4) Run around agroing the Ghouls, Geists and Soldiers.
5) Use the "Flatulence" ability on the pet bar, then use "Burst at the Seams."

Took me about 4 abomination gathers to finish. Really unintuitive in modern retail WoW.

Okay, after exploding many stuff without getting credit, I found that the mobs have to be aggro'd on the abomination for the quest to count. Not you or non aggro.

So after compiling several comments here, I came with optimal solution for the quest.

1. Ensure you don't have any pets active.
2. Kill an abomination and reanimate him.
3. Be quick, put it on passive mode on pet's bar, and run toward the mobs.
4. Stand a bit back, use "move to" command and try to aggro 7-10 mobs, use first sill of the abomination to do it easier. (As far as I noticed, to get the credits the abomination should get the aggro, not you)
5. Use Explode on a pet bar.
6. Repeat. (It should take 3-5 attempts to finish)

Good luck with this boring quest :)
