The Sundered Shard is at 71,60.

Very easily done in a group, seeing as everyone gets credit when one person uses the gem on a corpse.

You have to kill the elementals. They will drop the energy. When you get the energy open your bags and click the gem you received from the quest giver. It is a little slow since you have to channel the gem on the remains and it takes some time to find enough elementals.

Also if it's not working for you, I had to click the corpse first, and then the gem. It did not work for me if i clicked the gem first and then the body. The gem would cast and channel, but no credit was given.

Yeah, don't loot these when you click the gem, just target them, click the gem, get credit, THEN loot. :)

I killed about 20 of these before I realized what was up. :P

I was in cat form on my druid and tried using the gem. It would channel the spell, but nothing would happen.

Make sure you shift to humanoid form first, then use the gem. I don't know if other druids were having the same problems I was, but if you are, that should fix it.

Im not 100% sure, but i think you have to be targeting the corpse either throughout the entire channel or at the end of the channel. That would explain why you cant do the Use item->click corpse thing.

LOOT COMPLETELY THE LIFEBLOOD ELEMENTALS.

I don't know if is currently bugged, but if you use the gem on an elemental whit some loot inside it, it doesen't give you the credit. So be sure to loot very thing inside the mob before using the gem.

I just used the Item twice, and that fixed it :)

Also, Flying Mount FTW on this quest! I found 4/8 of the Mobs on the mountains around the crater-thing :) The others I flew around it, dropped down, killed them, then mounted up again.

Make sure you have the elemental targeted when you use the crystal or you won't get credit. Unlike other quests, you can't loot and leave it on that view to click on it because it will not be looking at the corpse for some reason when you do it, so loot it if you want, left click then use the crystal.

Easy quick quest.

HOW TO DO THIS QUEST:
1. Travel to 71,60.
2. Kill a Lifeblood Elemental.
3. Target the corpse.
4. While having the corpse targeted, right-click on .
5. Repeat seven more times.

I ran into a problem figure I would mention it.

Don't kill more than 1 before using the gem. There was a few where I killed 2 or more at a time and could only use the gem on the first one , even after it's CD was up , I kept getting an Invalid Target error.

So kill 1 , use the gem , and then kill the next , rinse and repeat.

This one is a little tricky if you are a miner. After you kill the elemental and loot the body, right click on the gem, click on the body and when you start to mine it hit you space bar to stop that, then right click on the gem again and it will pull the essence. You can then mine the gems out of the remains if you wish. Otherwise it will just mine the body and you will not get the life essence.

None of these descriptions have quite done it for me; I'm guessing because I habitually autoloot, and maybe because I also mine.

Only this would work for me:-

Kill
Target corpse (notice the Gem, if on your taskbar, gets a grey dot)
Activate gem
Loot
Mine

ok..here is a hint...kill the elemental then use the gem and after that you can loot..dont loot before use the gem cause you are not gonna get a credit..at least that happened to me..

Elementals are around 70,60.

I used to send pet for the next mob while I was channeling, targeting other mobs, so I didn't get any quest credits. The thing that worked for me was to keep the corpse targeted throughout the channeling spell.

The way the gem works is it extracts the energy from whatever you are targeting when the channeling ends. If you're targeting nothing, it will fail.

anyone else notice that the quest says to "use the Lifeforce Gem".. but the object provided is Lifeblood Gem..

You have to be targeting the mob when the channel ends or you will not receive credit. When you start the channel it deselects the mob. Just target it during the channel sometime.

I just discovered a bug in this quest - just to be sure, I dropped the quest after completing it and tried again.

Target the elemental, start using the gem - then before the gem's channel finishes, target another creature.
The quest seems to mark the 'used' mob as whatever you were targetting when the channel finishes, so select the elemental corpse and use the gem again, switching your target to another creature before the channel finishes again. Repeat.

You will be able to pull all 8 Lifeblood energies from a single corpse.

Heres some tip:
*Dont just land, kill, cast quest item required!
*Make sure you wait for the cast to be done or you will never get the credit.
*Just to be exact on the far comments above.

If you kill two elementals together and they fall next to each other, you can't drain either of them. So don't do it!. Kill one and kite the other. If you find you have in error and you are a miner, you can skin one and you can them drain the other.

Really annoying quest! The only way I could get credit was by luring two elementals near the same spot, and killing both. Then I'd target one corpse (without looting first), channel, and *while I was channelling* I targeted the second corpse. The channel would still show on the first corpse, and I'd get credit for that one corpse. Couldn't get credit for the second at all. Got all 8 in the end, but had to kill 16 to get it.

If you are a miner:
kill the elemental,
loot it,
drain its life - click on it off of the loot/mine-here circle, you will see the mining pick cursor;
the loot/mine-here circle and mine it.
The point is - drain it before you mine it.

Wowhead as saved me from more frustrations than I can count so I'm surprised that this is the first time I've ever read comments here that are completely incorrect.
Particularly the stand closer, loot two at once, loot first etc. This Q is a ridiculous headache for anyone with mining. I killed 5 or 6, tried clicking right, left, different sequences, used some choice words & finally came here. Following everyone's instructions. I did not loot, highlighted etc. and still couldn't get credit.The deal is to click on the corpse with enough distance that the icon of the loot bag shows but KEEP IT GRAY, THEN CLICK on the gem for credit. It absolutely won't work if the bag is active and brown. Can't say for everyone else but at least for this miner all the other song and dance is nonsense.

Well this a couple of years since the last comment was made. I killed the elemental, I looted the elemental I re-clicked on the elemental and then clicked on the crystal and it drained the life force from the elemental...no problem. By the way I am a Druid with Alchemy/Herbalism for professions Level 77.

Quest is for some still bugged. Found out the only way to make them count is to wait like 10 sec after they are killed. If u loot them or not doesnt make the difference. So for people with that problem try the waiting after the kill and retreive the energy :)

If you have mining and are used to right-clicking on NPCs and corpses with the more recent addition of this option to quickly use items: don't.

Left-click instead. If you mine the corpse it disappears. If you use the item by left-clicking the corpse, it stays and you can mine it afterwards for whatever junk items it provides.

The Avatar of Freya wants you to go to the Sundered Shard to the southeast and use the Lifeforce Gem on 8 destroyed Lifeblood Elementals.

Description

The Lifeblood Pillar was toppled over with great force, sending the very earth into an upheaval.

The elementals that wander the sundered shard carry with them the very life essence that gave the pillar its strength. I cannot allow this energy to be wasted, for only four pillars remain.

Head to the sundered shard, to the southeast, and seek the lifeblood elementals.

Use this gem on their remains to recover their rampant energy. We'll need the energy to heal the land when all this is over.
