This guy is nearly impossible to kill in a 5 man, its only happened once for me in all of my trips. After you kill him and his goons, a couple of adds run into the room at you. The key to this fight is to have a mage for sheeping and a hunter to freeze trap the adds -- oh, and an excellent tank and healer :)

Easily soloed as a 70 Feral Druid (12K health, 20K armor).

As your facing him there is a corner behind him to your right. Thats a good spot to fight him in. His 33K health is not a big deal. He called for adds around 70ish% health, but it was actually prolly closer to 50ish% before they arrived. I kept my focus on him, keeping Lacerates up, and using Swipe alot as well.

Killed the Ogre second, and by the time I got to the Berzerker, he was allready at 30% health from all of the Swipes.

I did this without even shifting to heal.

This is the last boss in the instance Lbrs ( Lower Blackrock Spire ) that is tuned for players around level 56-60~.
You need to kill him to get attuned to Onyxia's lair.

The final boss of Lower Blackrock Spire. (LBRS).

Nothing too difficult - he has a knockback, plus spawns two adds at 50%. He used to be farmed for the Beaststalker Mantle and the Trindlehaven Staff, besides his quest drops.

For old times' sake, I soloed this guy on my 70 druid. Cleared the trash near him, and went to work. Make sure you tank him in a tight area, against a wall, so that his knockback doesn't take off huge amounts of health (it will). You should be able to tank him in bear form with little effort, including his adds, assuming a feral build with half-decent tanking gear (heavy clefthoof, etc). I did it with a little over 12k health, and just under 20k armor.. all blues, no epics. So yes, you can do it!

For Alliance, he drops an item that starts a quest (http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=5089) to have you kill General Drakkisath in UBRS. One possible reward is the Mark of Tyranny (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=13966) which even at 70 is a very nice trinket for bear tanks!

I just did this as a 70 druid with 10.7k hp, 14.4k armor, 36% dodge. Killed the ogre, a couple trolls and the last boss. Died once at the orc boss because I didn't clear the adds around him and a couple of the other adds called for help, skipped him. :(

easily soloable by a frost mage. ~8k HP/Mana and 800 spell damage. start off by nuking him from the ledge, then jump down and nuke him as he paths down to you. Blink past him and run back up to the ledge. Rinse and repeat. Have your water elemental freeze the two adds while you burn the boss down. I guess you can sheep an add too if they are causing too much trouble.

Easily soloable as a combat rogue. 7k hps, 1350 ap, 268 hit rating. I was able to kill the boss before his adds even made it to me, then vanished, and let the adds run away.

Fast route to Wyrmthallak if you're farming Tier 0.

When you first enter the large open area with the river of lava down below, go directly to the right. There are a series of ledges that lead down to the hall just before the spiders. Proceed from there.

Somehow, a pally was able to cross the gap to the group of ogres standing there, but he never did tell me how he did it. Any ideas?

Easily soloable at lvl 70 as Dreamstate druid. ~10k hp, ~1000sp, mainly pvp-dps gear. Put moonkin form and just shoot boss, NS/HT when needed, and some lifeblooms will give you enough healing, then switch back to moonkin. I killed adds after killing the boss. Easy. No CC was needed. Engage him from a corner so you don't get knocked back. Fight lasted like... 2-3 minutes, not more.

Solo'd as a blood spec 70 Death Knight for shiggles. I never got under 75% health. Actually killed him before his adds got there

"This is the last boss in the dungeon; hence the name Overlord. To get to him you need to make your way to the wolf den where Halycon is (if you have been thru most of the dungeon you will know where this is and where to go). Just before you turn into the wolf den, on your right and back a bit is a set of stairs leading up. A wolf/orc patrol often comes down those stairs.

Note I said stairs, not ramp....the ramp (behind you when you turn right to come into Halycon's area from the scorpion hall) leads up to the quartermaster's area and is a dead end.

The stairs go up to a fairly densely crowded area with 5 or so groups of orcs closely packed. This was the 'wipe' area pre-burning crusade, as these guys run often and there are so many adds possible. Pull each group down the stairs sequentially and it limits adds by a huge amount.

This room has the 'wooden plank' bridge that drops down to Omokk's area (again, if you have been searching, you know the place). Crossing the wooden plank there are two sets of mobs (on your left are sleepers who awaken at almost any nearby disturbance >,<), and there is a doorway to the right. Go thru the doorway, past 2 mobs (usually an ogre and mutant 'blueberry' troll) to a large broken room with a few more mob groups....this is where overlord wyrmalthak lairs on the upper broken ledge. When engaged, it is best to fight him with a back to a wall as he has a nasty punt. At about 50% he will call for his helpers, usually 2 ogres or an ogre and a mutant troll."

God i looked for this guy for over an hour, so for all of you guys out there trying to get the damn key to UBRS here's your salvation.. You should easily find the Spider Lair from there go up through the lair and inte to the next room. (Ogres room) there abouts there's a door. Enter and turn left, Left again and through a room filled with mobs. then enter the last room. Now it should only be a couple of mobs between you and your prey.

Just soloed him, easy as a lvl 73 Paladin, I pulled him to the back of the ledge so the adds wouldn't agro, killed him, waited for the adds to run off and vialo!

this was pretty tough for me, never being in there... basically when u first enter the instance(if you can find it) go straight, and go right under the overpass... and basically just keep wrapping yourself around the instance till you get back to the boss, took me a bit to do

solo'd him as a 65 blood specced death knight.

i started by putting on frost presence and summoning my ghoul, then i put mark of blood on wyrmthalak and activated icebound fortitude and vampiric blood to keep my health maxed early in the fight and using a super health pot and rune tap when necessary. when he summons the adds i dropped death and decay and kept my focus on wyrmthalak till i downed him and then killed the adds. keep in mind that you need to position him with your back to the wall like stated before so the knockbacks wont cause too much hassle.

Looking for this achievement at 80? Here's a link to a video showing how to get in, kill him, and get back out again in under 10min. Enjoy. :)

(IMHO: More direct than the above video... their instance was at least partially pre-cleared; mine assumes a fresh, reset instance. And a parachute. =) )

Just solo'd him as a 60 rogue, it was pretty tough. I had about 200 HP left when he died. I disarmed him as soon as I pulled him and just did full dps until the adds came, then I poped a health potion and evasion and finished him off. I didn't have the HP to kill the adds too so I vanished.
Stats:
1.3k AP
36% Dodge
30% Crit
5.7k HP

In Blackrock... go around to the higher end. Go the "chain" and go left (UP) drop on the ledge ...go right under the chain .....careful over to the balcony and jump on balcony (the one everyone jumps onto) *SHORTcut*
Entrance is right there.

Note: You do not have to have a quest to go kill Wyrmthalak. View the video above ...it is good.

Note: There are a few quests over by Marshall Maxwell and directly across the crater from there is a horde/alliance area with more quests like the worg pup pet and crystal spider pet. You can fill those while in Blackrock Spire.

Note:You do not have to be in a raid to kill him.

Level 80 Rouge cleared the way for my 58 Mage. I picked up the letter for Marshal Maxwell to start the "General Drakkisath Demise" quest.

Just solo'd this big guy on my lvl 70 Fire Mage to get Classic Dungeonmaster. First attempt: he hits pretty hard and I was stupid about the knockback. Wipe. Next try, I used Frost Armor to hopefully take smaller hits. This helped, but the two adds hit like trucks. Third try, I almost had him-- this time turtling the ogre, sadly just ran out of health. (9.5k health, 13.5k mana, heirloom shoulders/trinkets, BC heroic gear.)

Finally... don't forget to keep your mana shield up! Maybe bring a health pot, I didn't but it was close. Did have ready; mana gems, mana potions (redundant, much?), food buff, Lesser Rune of Warding, and drank a Flask of Pure Death.

The Fight
Opened with a pyroblast to get a little tic going, then a simple Living Bomb, get your back to the wall and nuke nuke nuke. My health got icky so I brought out Mirror Image, "HELP" incoming, so I tossed a Living Bomb back on the big guy and turtled the Ogre, tossed everyone AoE known to man and kept putting my Mana Shield up. Managed... to nuke him. For a clothie with no pet-- this was a task. But, got it done. =) After my Mirror Image went down, I did use the Indestructible Potion for safety. All the little helps.

Solo'ed as a 61 BM hunter, in generals gear mostly, along with the rest of LBRS. Wasn't too hard, but necessary to use the terrain vs. mr. Wyrm. I stood on the top of the ramp while my turtle pounded on him below me. On aggro, I let him run to me, and then FD'ed right before he reached me. That way, the CD was always ready.

In case of emergency, remember that it's possible to climb the cliff from behind... ;)

Tried him last night at 67 on my Fury Warrior.

Attempt #1. Ooo hi there big guy... *pokes*. Overlord proceeds to pound my face in without too much hassle. Got tossed way in the air for 500-1,000 HP a knock, ouch! Wipe.

Attempt #2. Try my usual assault / attack methods. Got him to about 50% then the adds came. One elite ogre (the dual-wielding axe ones) along with a berserk ogre (both with about 9K HP each). That ended that attempt quickly. Wipe.

Attempt #3. Pulled him right off the cliff and under the rubble. Turned out he didn't knock me back or if so, I couldn't tell of any significant damage from it. Called the adds but as they go up the cliff then back down, it gave me time to work on the Overlord. They finally did show up at about 40% left and beat me. Yes if you do Shadowmeld and reset the fight, Overlord will of course go back to full health. I worked it right and while the Overlord reset, the adds stuck by me so I was able to kill them. Important note is that the Overlord will call for more ads the next time he's enaged! Wipe.

Attempt #4. Repeated #3 but even further back in the rubble. Ads didn't find me and Overlord's knockback was ineffective. He simply DPS'd me down though but I did get him to ~20K left after I popped everything I had. So very close!. I'm sure given an invinsible pot or another level or two, he'll go down.

First room, use the right side door (Upper or lower) into a room with a large pit.
Go through the doorway-hall with two Orcs patrolling inside on the eastern wall.
Go down the cracked walkway, across two wooden bridges.
Turn right shortly past the bridge to see two Ogres guarding a doorway.
Look to your right as you face them to see a group of Orcs on the edge.
Go towards the Orcs, down and around this walkway, into a room with trolls.
Use the ramp going down and out of this room.
Turn right at the intersection, and use the left hand offramp.
At the bottom, turn left to see a door at the far wall, enter it, proceed around the rubble and later the Orc-tent gauntlet.
After the gauntlet gives way, hike up the rubble pile adorned with spiders, taking a sharp 180 U-Turn onto the suspended walkway at the top.
Go past the spiders and work your way up the rubble ramp.
Once you reach Ogres, make a sharp left down a hallway, ignoring the crumbling doors to your right and left.
Once you reach the far end, turn right and proceed down the hall.
At the end, make a right into a room with small planks as bridges, holding together three sections of floor.
At the far right corner is an exit, make your way to it and over the stone bridge.
The bridge will take you to a room with a ramp leading up and around in a counterclockwise direction.
At the ramp's culmination, the Overlord sits near some decorations.

He's on the "The Rookery" level a bit past Gizrul the Slavener & Quartermaster Zigris. If you're having a hard time like I was, a nice guy left a guide on Quartermaster Zigris's page detailing how to reach him. Once there, it's really easy. :)

if you're a rogue, you can sprint + jump + spam shadowstep to the spirestone battle mage to jump the gap,

do the same thing backwards when you want to reset the instance with the scarshield warlock when you come back from the boss.

This is pretty old content, but since i was actually doing it on a new character, and looking to find this boss.. I found several posts.

The main key to doing this boss, in fact, the entire instance is your tank. He should know the pulls, so don't go all slap happy and charge in if you aren't the tank (or even if you are) as there are several areas that will pull in the entire room full of mobs.

Don't rush through this, if you are doing it at the correct level (not in BC or LK, Cata or MoP gear at lev 90)

The big thing to watch out for is the knock backs in the room just past the wyrm eggs (leeeerrooyyyyyyyy jeeeeennnnkiiinnnnnssssssssssss). Take the first door, keep to the left side, charge or run into the group of 3, tank and dps at that wall. Get the idea?

The entire instance is pretty much the same.

Final Boss.. Dps him down, ignore the 2 adds, heal through them, once boss is down, take out the adds.

* We actually kicked a dps warrior and a healer from this instance, because they kept pulling and we kept wiping, because the didn't know the mechanics of these fights that have the knock back effects*

SO yes, i am a tank, a protection warrior. My advice, is unless directed by the tank to do otherwise, let the tank pick his pulls. If you don't like doing that, quit the instance and leave the group.

If you're level 100, and want just to get to the last boss , Overlord Wyrmthalak...as fast as possible with as little combat as possible. These directions will get you in and out in under 4 minutes. To find the entrance from the center of the mountain, you see three dwarven statues holding the chains. To the right of the one with his arm fully extended outward, there is a door on a balcony. Fly in, proceed in a straight line till you see the entrance on the right.
Enter, left, left , right. See the first group of mobs on the right of the platform..pass them and jump off the platform corner, across the lava moat, onto the walk, go right, travel through tent city. See a group lit by purple light, continue up hill through Skitterweb tunnels and spiders, turn right, cross on the beam. Kill mom spider on left if you want the pet. Continue up through more spiders, emerging through a door onto an upward stone walkway, ogres up ahead. Hairpin turn left around the corner, avoiding the ogres. To the end of the hall, through the door, up ramp, turn right, hug corner, another right, through the door, up ramp....go left around and avoiding holes in the floor...to the other side of the room, go across wooden plank. Turn right, through door, across stone bridge, through the middle of the 2 guards, turn right, hug corner, go around the backside of the next set of mobs, along the wall. Up ramp, kill Wyrmthalak.
Now exit...jump off the platform at the corner, across stone bridge to the wooden planks you crossed. Jump off the planks into the scorpids/scarabs below. Down the walk just a bit, turn left to the 6-7 ogres on the platform. On the right side of the platform, jump down onto a stone bridge, go through the 2 Ogres standing guard, down the hall, turn left to cross the wooden swing bridge, left again to cross another wooden swing bridge, up the stone ramp on the right to the exit door...left, right, right. Done.

If you are farming Overlord Wyrmthalak for the Blacksmithing recipe that was added in 7.1.5, you can just down to lava after killing last boss to die and spawn at entrance, run out of dungeon and reset. Just make sure you jump to solid ground first to almost die (as rogue at least) and then to lava.

Made a short video with the fastest way in and out, from entering the portal to exit, this is done in under 4 mins.
But it dos rez you have Bear Tartare, just keep killing stuff, can be a critter or anything, it will give you a minor speed buff.

When i jump down to the tents, without the leap i probably would die, so you do req like Blink, bubble... but if you do not have any of those, to the right where i jump from, there is a little ledge you can jump down on (near the wall), and just follow it around.
