I must say, Xavius's model looks terrible in my opinion. It hardly resembles a satyr (Despite his said "abilities" or not). The face looks like someone took a flat mallet and bashed it in. All around the skeleton used just looks incredibly awkward. Blizzard could do better, much better.

Xavius was the first satyr ever. He was originally a Highborne night elf and the person who first accidentally contacted Sargeras, beginning the Legion's invasion of Azeroth 10,000 years ago. After he was killed by Malfurion Sargeras tortured his spirit and then recreated him as a satyr. When Xavius kidnapped Tyrande, Malfurion would turn him into a tree and believed he died in the Sundering.

Xavius returned in the novel Stormrage, where it was revealed that the Old Gods had saved him and he was the leader of the Emerald Nightmare. Thura, the niece of Broxigar, helped Malfurion slay Xavius by using Brox's axe to chop the tree down. Turns out that didn't stop him forever, because he's back again.

After the heroes slay the Nightmare Lord, there is a small chiming sound. Sentimental music plays, and an image of Queen Azshara materializes in front of Xavius, looking down upon him.

Queen Azshara's illusion stands over the fallen Xavius.
Xavius reaches and grabs Aszhara by the collar.
Xavius: Azshara... is it over?
Azshara grips Xavius's hand.
Azshara: At long last. No Nightmare Lord rules forever, buddy.
Xavius: I see only...shadow tentacles ... before...me...
Xavius's weird red eyes slowly close as he now lay, lifeless. The Horn of Nightmare separates with a hiss from Xavius, laying nearby.
Azshara bowed her head, then solemnly said.
Azshara: Without its lord, the Nightmare will become an even greater threat to this world.
Azshara: Control must be maintained. There must always be
A chill wind blows throughout the Rift, shadows forming at the boundries to the great dark
Azshara: A Nightmare Lord.
Azshara's ghost disappears in a flash in front of Malfurion
Malfurion looks at the dead body of Xavius, the Horn of Nightmare gleaming darkly at his head.
Malfurion: The weight of such a burden... it must be mine for there is no other..
Cenarius: Malfurion! You hold a grim destiny in your hands, Night Elf, but it is not your own.
Malfurion: Cenarius! Surely you...
Cenarius: Xavius's corruption sealed my fate, and the green hills of the Dream can no longer comfort me.
Cenarius: Place the Horn of Nightmare upon my hand Malfurion, forever more I shall be the Nightmare Lord.
Malfurion: No old friend, I cannot..
Cenarius: DO IT MALFURION! You and these ninja looters have your own destinies to fulfill.This last act of service is mine.
Malfurion holds the Horn of Nightmare closer to Cenarius
Malfurion: You will not be forgotten, Shan'do..
Cenarius: I MUST BE FORGOTTEN, MALFURION! If the Dream is to be free from the tyranny of the Nightmare, they must never know what was done here today.
Malfurion nods grimly before sliding the Horn of Nightmare slowly over Cenarius's hand as the Rift begins to shake, causing furious shadows to spew from the darkness, whispers of dark intent at their ears
Cenarius's eyes become red and the Horn releases waves of shadows
Cenarius: Tell them only that Xavius is dead and that Cenarius...Died with HIM!
Cenarius's voice morphs and begins turning into Xavius's
Cenarius: Now GO! Leave this place and NEVER return!

Yeah, sorry, I can't take this guy seriously.

This version, he's intimidating, he looks intelligent and dangerous.

But this guy looks like a feral pig goat who learned to stand up. I don't care how spiky and red this guy is, I just can't be afraid of him.

Mages: Should you find yourself hitting 100 corruption, you can CC yourself right before you get charmed with Corruption: Madness. Cast Ice Block right when Corruption: Descent into Madness is about to end. When you become charmed, you'll still be Ice Blocked and won't attack your raid for 10 seconds, giving them more time to burn down Xavius.

As a feral druid, I'll get the Dream Simulacrum buff while - of course - in feral cat form. I can look down and see my snoozing kitty form on the floor. However, when it expires, I am awakened and thrown back into nelf. Why! Why this?

My raid group's main tank is a guardian druid, and he goes to sleep as a bear and wakes up as a bear. Is this a bug? Intended? Why do you enjoy messing with with the flow of feral combat, Blizz?

Just a general rant about stuff from old expacs being locked behind raids that cannot be performed solo by 120s, and for which there are approximately zero people ever grouping up.

I'd love to increase my Legion neck enchant, Mark of the Hidden Satyr, to rank 3, but I'll probably have to wait for another expansion's worth of power creep to be able to handle the raid.

Easily solo'd as an ilvl 444 fury warrior on mythic. Used all CD's and drums. He had 20k hp left after my first corruption ended. 146k dps(Lots of adds to cleave)

Overview – Most of Nightmare Lord Xavius's attacks inflict Corruption on their victims. As a player gains more Corruption, they become increasingly vulnerable to the power of the Nightmare, eventually losing control entirely and turning against their friends at maximum Corruption.
Players' only hope lies in the power of Ysera, who puts many of them into a deep slumber and forms a [Dream Simulacrum] of those players. When their Simulacrum perishes, the affected player will awaken, as any Corruption gained by their Simulacrum dissipates harmlessly.
- Damage Dealers –
  Players affected by [Dream Simulacrum] should protect non-dreaming players by handling any abilities that spread Corruption.
  Defeat Inconceivable Horrors before they can get close enough to cast [Dark Ruination] on Xavius.
  Absorb [Tainted Discharge] before it can reform back into Inconceivable Horrors.
- Healers –
  Players affected by [Dream Simulacrum] should protect non-dreaming players by handling any abilities that spread corruption.
  Dispel [Darkening Soul] and [Blackening Soul] as sparingly as possible to manage the amount of Corruption you gain.
  Absorb [Tainted Discharge] before it can reform back into Inconceivable Horrors.
- Tanks –
  Players affected by [Dream Simulacrum] should protect non-dreaming players by handling any abilities that spread corruption.
  Move away from others when [Darkening Soul] and [Blackening Soul] is about to be dispelled from you.
  Quickly pick up Corruption Horrors when [Manifest Corruption] is cast.
  Absorb [Tainted Discharge] before it can reform back into Inconceivable Horrors.

The Dream

When Xavius reaches 95% and 60% health, the Dream of Ysera puts half of the party into a Dreaming State. Affected players fall asleep while a Dream Simulacrum of them rises to fight Xavius. If the Dream Simulacrum should ever die, the player's actual body will awaken. All Nightmare Corruption gained by the Dream Simulacrum is lost when the player returns to their body.

Nightmare Corruption

Many of Xavius's spells spread Nightmare Corruption to those hit. The more corrupted a player becomes, the more the nightmare becomes real to the player. Should any player ever become completely corrupted, they will become dominated by Xavius.

Dread Abomination – At 33 points of Corruption, colossal Nightmare creatures materialize from the player's mind, smashing the world around the player.
- Corruption: Crushing Shadows – Inflicts 8796 Physical damage at the center. Allies further from the center take less damage. This damage ignores armor.
  Corruption: Crushing Shadows affects any player with more than 33 corruption.
Corruption: Unfathomable Reality – The essence of Nightmares erupts into this reality, inflicting 2969 Fire damage and causes 5 Nightmare Corruption.
Corruption: Unfathomable Reality affects any player with more than 66 corruption.
Corruption: Descent into Madness – Increases damage and healing done by 150%.
Upon expiration the player is overwhelmed by corruption, becoming Charmed and transforming into a Creature of Madness.

Descent into Madness is triggered upon reaching 100 Corruption.

Stage One: The Descent Into Madness

Darkening Soul – Xavius taints the target's soul, inflicting 744 Shadow damage every 1 sec until removed.
Dispelling this Darkening Soul inflicts 145 Shadow damage to all enemies in a 25 yd radius.
The dispeller gains 25 Corruption and suffers Shadow damage.
- Darkened Tainting – The player dispelling Darkening Soul gains 25 Corruption and takes 2972 Shadow damage.
Nightmare Blades – A wall of blades erupts from the ground inflicting 4012 Physical damage to anyone in the area and knocking them back. This damage ignores armor.
Manifest Corruption – Xavius coalesces nightmare energy to create a Corruption Horror, inflicting 3518 Shadow damage to all enemies to all enemies in a 150 yd. radius.
- Corruption Horror
  - Corrupting Nova – Inflicts 3744 Shadow damage to all nearby enemies. Anyone hit gains 5 Corruption
  - Tormenting Swipe – Slashes at all enemies in front of caster, inflicting 4765 Shadow damage. Anyone hit gains 10 Nightmare Corruption.
Lurking Eruption – Nightmare energy erupts from below the target, summoning a Lurking Terror and inflicting 3048 Shadow damage to all enemies in a 6 yd. radius.
- Lurking Terror
  - Tormenting Fixation – The Lurking Terror selects a target to Fixate on.
  - Tormenting Detonation – The Lurking Terror explodes if it gets near an enemy, inflicting 112 Shadow damage and causing 30 Corruption to all nearby enemies.
  - Tormenting Infection – The Lurking Terror infects the first enemy it gets near, inflicting 4032 Shadow damage and causing 30 Corruption.

Stage Two: From the Shadows

Upon reaching 65% health remaining, Xavius intensifies his attack.

Blackening Soul – Xavius blackens the target's soul, inflicting 744 Shadow damage every 1 sec until removed.
Dispelling this effect triggers Blackened on the target.
The dispeller gains 25 Corruption and suffers Shadow damage.
- Blackened – All Physical damage taken is increased 150%.
- Blackened Tainting – The player dispelling Blackening Soul gains 25 Corruption and takes 2972 Shadow damage.
Corruption Meteor – Deals 49875 Shadow damage and spreads 40 Corruption, split between all enemies.
Bonds of Terror – Nightmare bonds tether a target to an ally, inflicting 806 Shadow damage every 1 sec. to both. Standing within 3 yards of the ally dispels the Bonds of Terror.
Nightmare Infusion – Empowers the melee attacks of Xavius, causing them to spread 5 Corruption to the target for 30 sec.
Call of Nightmares – Xavius calls into the darkness of the nightmare, drawing forth Inconceivable Horrors to empower him.
- Inconceivable Horror
  - Dark Ruination – Overcharges Xavius with Nightmare energy, inflicting 34 Shadow damage and causing 1 Corruption to all enemies every 1 sec. for 5 sec.
  - Tainted Discharge – Corruption erupts from the target's body, leaving pools of corruption that inflict 1603 Shadow damage and spreads 3 Corruption every 1 sec. The Tainted Discharge dissipates as enemies stand in it. After 15 sec Tainted Discharge will reform into an Inconceivable Horror.

Stage Three: World of Darkness

Upon reaching 30% health remaining, Xavius calls upon the purest Nightmare to engulf his enemies.

Blackening Soul – Xavius blackens the target's soul, inflicting 744 Shadow damage every 1 sec until removed.
Dispelling this effect triggers Blackened on the target.
The dispeller gains 25 Corruption and suffers Shadow damage.
- Blackened – All Physical damage taken is increased 150%.
- Blackened Tainting – The player dispelling Blackening Soul gains 25 Corruption and takes 2972 Shadow damage.
