This could be a minor cosmetic change to make it easier to see your gear in Shadowform (and thus, take full advantage of transmogrification).

I'm thinking at this point the glyph will NOT be used to remove Shadowform.

On the PTR, you can currently dismiss Shadowform's cosmetic effects by right-clicking the buff.

Removing the cosmetic effects will not alter your combat abilities.

Apparently the effect of it is akin to targeting yourself, and no longer being transparent.

You can toggle the effect on PTR. Like previous comments already told you. You can remove the visual effect of shadowform by removing the buff.

Stop jumping to conclusions that this glyph will remove the visual effect for us.
My guess is that it's just another colour to it, another type of glow.

Glyph currently working in 4.3 PTR

Removes the see-through effect of shadowform and leaves you with a violet tint to your character instead. (Think of Violet from Willy Wonka when she was chewing the gum).

As far as mounts go, I hit a few of mine, and the main difference was a slight purple tint to them. My Ironbound proto drake was a dark purple.
It does look kinda like a shadow flame engulfing you constantly, but that does not carry over to the mount

This is great for PvP. It makes you less distinguishable from your teammates in a bg or arena, so that you are less likely to be focus fired upon.

I learned and activated this glyph while in shadowform. My appearance didn't change. I reloaded and still no change. I didn't test relogging...but I had the smart idea to cancel shadowform and re-apply it. The change took affect then.

So in case anyone else has that problem, try cancelling and re-applying shadowform.

This is a great glyph to sell on the AH. Seems to have slipped under the radars of a lot of scribes since it was added in 4.3; very little competition on my server.

It's a great glyph, but I wish it was named something else instead of a generic "... of Shadow". It's hard to keep track of it in the auction house, as searching by its name will also result in dozens of pages with other glyphs such as Shadow Bolt, Shadowfiend, Shadow Word: Death, etc., all mixed up.

Removes transparency and instead gives you purple fumes around your character, kinda like someone who hasn't showered in a few weeks.

I was leveling my new spriest last night and upon hitting level 24, activated Shadowform (obviously). Strangely my Shadowform appeared as this opaque Glyphed version (even though I didn't have the Glyph, and couldn't even use Glyphs yet) from that moment until I hearthed, at which point it un-bugged.

It says "less transparent", but it should be "not transparent at all".

I definitely like the effect better than regular Shadowform, but it'd be nice if it was a little transparent.

As of 6.2 this is broken on both my Ally and Horde Shadow Priests, which sucks. Anyone else having this problem?

In Legion (at least on the beta right now), this glyph makes it so you appear less dark when gaining insanity. Your appearance at 0 insanity and in voidform itself does not change.

This Priest glyph, was altered in Legion. This is applied directly to your spell, in your spellbook.
Removing a glyph: use Vanishing Powder on the specific spell, this will remove the effect, however, if you want the glyph again, you'll need to rebuy it.

As of 7.3 this appears to do nothing whatsoever to Shadowform as it is no longer transparent at any level of Insanity. It instead modifies Voidform to be pure black with swirling blue strands crisscrossing your character. The effect is identical to the one granted by Glyph of Shadowy Friends, except that THIS Glyph does not make your mount or pets dark, while Shadowy Friends still does.

With the new animations, this glyph changes both Shadowform and Voidform. For Shadowform, it removes the smoke and makes it less dark while still retaining the purple voidwalker-like effect. Smoke will still build and grow in intensity as you get closer to 100 insanity, and it will darken as well. For Voidform, it will become black with purple ripples moving through it.

I particularly like this glyph on a Void Elf, as the Entropic Embrace animation shows up much better.

Just a forewarning for those who are hesitant to purchase this glyph in patch 8.0

It completely disables the Shadowform effect from appearing on your mount.

Come 8.0, the Glyph removes the obnoxiously huge new cloud Shadowform leaves behind which is great, but it also makes Voidform look... Bad. Very bad. The contrast between your character and the void cracks is too large, and the effect is so minimal that the void tentacles look stapled on.

Blizzard just can't seem to get this glyph right.

Currently in 8.0 this glyph has a bad interaction with the new shadowform and void elf heritage armor. If you are partially invisible it's because of this bug. I imagine they will fix this soon enough; but if you want to fix it remove the glyph or replace it with shadowy friends instead.

In 8.0, it looks really cool. I have it it on Nightbourne Priest and I even submitted a screenshot. With it in beta, it left the outline highlight on the character but they must've updated it. I really wish Shadowform wasn't a requirement.

Still, it looks much cooler now (BFA) than it used to. What would be optimal is for Voidform to no longer toss you into Shadowform when it ends and for Shadowform's 10% damage buff to just be applied to the player normally.

Also this glyph is kinda lame now. I can't imagine wanting to use it to get a purple glow around my self when the shadows we get are much cooler.

For the record, I like Shadowform now. I just don't like any form that's a requirement. I feel the same way about Moonkin form, which even glyphed hides your transmog. They're all great to have as options, like Treant form, but forcing them on players all the time is not okay in my book. There's literally no purpose to it.

And yes, you can turn it off, but even if Voidform didn't turn it back on (and not using Voidform is a very poor option), you still lose 10% damage by electing to avoid it and what's more, there's bound to be people who will get angry at you for it in groups. I just don't understand what's so horrible about letting players choose more for customizing their characters, especially when the change is so minor and simple to do.

i really wish we could get a glyph that actually removed shadowform visually, or actually hid it more so it makes a difference for seeing our transmogs because this one barely changes anything... as much as i like how cool shadowform looks, you get bored and used to looking the same all the time, so it does irritate me to not be able to see my mogs especially with us having more cosmetic sets now

Recently the effects of Glyph of Shadows have been buffed(?), as in the void effect from shadowform has been greatly reduced with this glyph equipped, it now acts more like a slight smokescreen over your character. It no longer has any purple or any cloud following you. This change was confirmed to be intentional here

Couldn't find it on Nostwin at the bazaars after Blizz said it was available, at least not the one at the (Alliance) temple and Paw'don Village. I found it from Future/Past Noswin at the Temple of the White Tiger instead. It's 5 bronze to buy it, last page.

I tried this glyph out in MoP Remix and didn't like it. I had to figure out that you needed vanishing powder to remove it. You can buy vanishing powder from your grand expedition yak to remove the glyph.

For all those in TWW (and beyond?) wondering how to actually USE this glyph, you have to right click on it and then apply it to shadowform in your spellbook. Please don't ask me how long (and how much useless Googling) it took to figure that out. It does NOT apply automatically upon right click like most things.

Furthermore, because the glyph change in ~2023 -- which I did easily find via searching -- it now pretty much eliminates shadowform. It really threw me for a loop how drastic the change is, based on outdated comments on this page that indicate the changes used to be minimal. I did a double take to ensure I still had shadowform active.
