Although we previously reported that
flying was restricted on the Siren Isle
due to the
debuff, it turns out flying might be possible on the Siren Isle after all, with
suggesting that the
may be the key to unlocking it!
Although we don't know exactly if or when flying will be unlocked, there are also other options for getting around the island, such as the
: rocket assisted jumps which allow you to glide through the air!
Siren's Isle No-Flight Mechanics and Size
As of the first Patch 11.0.7 PTR build, there are two debuffs in Siren Isle that restrict flying:
The first one is the
previously reported
, which is enabled at all times in Siren Isle.
Once a storm event is started in Siren Isle, a second debuff shows up,
, further emphasizing high winds making flight difficult on the isle, though making flight
difficult
does give off the implication that it is
possible
in some capacity.
As of this PTR build, you're able to speak to an NPC and "choose" whether you want to be in a storm or not. Siren Isle during Seafury Tempest has different objectives and is overall more challenging, with many elite mobs and stronger rares.
Siren Isle is quite different with storms abound!
Wiith these mechanics in play, we could ask ourselves,
will my experience in Siren Isle be bad without the ability to fly?
We have discovered two mechanics allowing flight, but first let's talk a bit about the size of the new zone.
Although Siren's Isle has a fair amount of verticality, the isle itself is actually very small - Content creator
SoulSoBreezy
made size comparisons with other zones, and concluded that Siren Isle is smaller in terrain than Mechagon, which was already a small island even while it was current in Battle for Azeroth - And several leagues smaller than some of the more giant zones we have to this day, such as Isle of Dorn.
Now of course, whether you want flight or not is mostly subjective, but it is good to have a base for how big the isle is. With that being said, we found two ways to allow for flight (limited or not) in Siren Isle.
Experimental Go-Pack - Limited Flying
The first method we've discovered that allows for limited flying in Siren Isle are the
! These rockets will propel you into the air and give you a glide, allowing you to aim your descend. They're obtainable early on in your Siren Isle adventures and once you gain access to them, they're easily replenishable - You should be able to easily have one on your hands at all times.
As of our PTR testing, you can use these in both phases of Siren Isle. Below, we have a quick video highlighting the rocket pack being used during a storm (and covering some good distance):
Wings of the Siren - Full-Fledged Flying?
As you advance in Siren Isle, you will obtain upgrades for the new ring coming in Patch 11.0.7,
. A datamined power we were able to find was one that supposedly grants you mastery of the winds of the isles -
!
It is currently unknown what "taking flight" would mean in this case, whether it is you being able to mount on your usual skyriding mounts, or if Cyrce's Circlet is strong enough to allow you flight on its own. As of this current 11.0.7 PTR build, questlines that improve the power of your Cyrce's Circlet come to a halt before you come across this upgrade, but once we figure out how to obtain this power, we will let you know!
What is your opinion on flying in Siren Isle? Do you think you'll be fine staying on the ground? Do you believe the rocket jumps are enough? Or do you really want to explore the isle on your hard-earned flying mounts?
