This guide covers how to hit your ilvl 610 requirement for Heroic Dungeons, the ilvl 615 requirement for Molten Core, and the ilvl 615 requirement for Highmaul LFR. It focuses mostly on gear in the ilvl 610-630 range that you can easily get close to the launch of Warlords of Draenor, such as rare spawns, questing, Normal Dungeons, and
Cristal Apexis
gear.
Gear that you can get a little bit later or with more effort, such as Challenge Mode items, fully upgraded crafted gear, Normal Highmaul loot, or loot from ilvl follower missions will not be covered in great detail. For those sources and more, check out our general

Questing (587-610)
Questing in the top level zone,
Nagrand
, rewards gear that is between 587-610 ilvl.

Quest items in Warlords have a chance to be upgraded when acquiring them.
Uncommon-quality rewards have the chance to have a +10 ilvl boost and become rare, or a +20 ilvl boost and become epic.
Rare-quality rewards have the chance to have a +10 ilvl boost and become epic.
You can see these extra variations on Wowhead by visiting an item’s page and clicking the “Item Variations” section under the tooltip, or looking for a line of text talking about the variations under rewards on quest pages.
A notable quest is

Normal Dungeons (615)
Gear from Normal Level 100 Dungeons is ilvl 615 and you must have ilvl 595 to queue up for them. The four dungeons are:

Dungeon loot rules have changed in Warlords of Draenor.
Previously, each boss had a set of uniquely-named loot. Now, multiple bosses can drop loot of the same name, but different bosses are assigned unique item level versions of the items. For example,
Gorjóssea
always drops the ilvl 615 version of
Goldsteel Belt
on Normal,

ilvl 630 version on Heroic

Vigilante Kaathar
always drops the
ilvl 570 version on Normal

Another change is that loot tables for each boss appear much larger than before. Instead of a boss dropping a belt, there is a chance that a boss will drop one of five belts for a particular armor type. These belts vary in the types of secondary stat combos they have--the combos are set in advance and are
not
random.
With Personal loot (default), you will always get an item from the final boss.
With Need before Greed active, you will get 3 items to be shared among the group.
Finally, Normal-mode dungeon gear has the chance to have a tertiary stat.
Rare Spawns (620-626)
There are level 100 rare spawns in all zones that have a chance to drop ilvl 620 rares. They are not up every single day and are faction tap.
These items have the chance to come with several variations: Warforged (626), Extra Socket, and/or a Tertiary Stat.

Honor Gear (620)
Honor Gear is a bit easier in Warlords to get due to the addition of
Strongboxes
. These can most easily be acquired when completing random battlegrounds. Depending on the objectives you complete, you are rewarded with a strongbox that can contain honor and even PvP gear, such as

, except in PvP combat when it jumps up to 675.

Gladiator's Sanctum
, you can generate Work Orders that can reward Honor Points, ilvl 600 Primal Aspirant, or ilvl 620 Primal Combatant PvP gear.
Crafted Gear (620-640)
There is ilvl 630 and ilvl 640 BoE crafted gear. You may be able to craft these items soon, as their recipes take 5 profession tokens to purchase from vendor and we’re nearing a week into the expansion. You can also craft these items with Level 3 Garrison buildings if you do not have that profession, but collecting materials will be slow.
Blacksmithing
: ilvl 630 weapons and ilvl 640 plate armor.
Engineering
: ilvl 640 goggles and ilvl 630 gun.
Inscription
: ilvl 630 staves, wand, and offhand
Jewelcrafting
: ilvl 640 rings and necks.
Leatherworking
: ilvl 640 leather armor, mail armor, and capes.
Tailoring
: ilvl 640 cloth armor.
These items are all BoE and can be found on the AH.
You can upgrade these items a total of +30 ilvls with crafted upgrade items (linked in the guides above), but as this guide focuses on relatively quick ways to gear up, we’re not going into that much detail on those upgrades.
