Fire Mage: First Impression of the New Mage Talent Trees in Dragonflight

Hiperimpacto - Successful Contrafeitiço interrupts cause a Supernova on the enemy. This could be an Arcane trait.

Barreiras de Energia - Melee attacks while affected by barrier have a chance to give Abstração, Impacto de Fogo charge, or Dedos Glaciais. Barrier cast removes snares.

Bênção do Rei Sol - This is the current best legendary for Fire Mage in Shadowlands.

Ímpeto Flamejante - This our current 4p tier bonus for Fire Mage in Shadowlands.

Erupções Incendiárias - New concept. Chance to apply Bomba Viva to a target when Área em Chamas deals damage. 6 second Internal Cooldown (ICD).

Chamas Fortificadas - New concept. Shorter cast time and higher crit chance on Ignimpacto at the cost of Combustão uptime. This is an interesting talent because if it is tuned correctly, it could introduce a new playstyle for Fire Mage. This talent would make Bênção do Rei Sol and Piroclasma easier to play but also locks you out of Combustão, which means you also lose the Crit to Mastery conversion and additional duration of Combustão. Update: This ability has been buffed from 35% reduction to 40% on Ignimpacto and 50% to 40% on reduced Combustão duration with the most recent alpha build (44895).

Calcinar Aprimorado - New version of an old talent from classic. This talent increases the amount of damage you do in execute by making Calcinar apply a debuff below 30%. Best paired with Toque Calcinante.

Deixa Queimar - Before Cascata Infernal, there was Deixa Queimar. This works very similar except that it is harder to keep up due to shorter duration, stacks to 3 instead of 2, and applies outside of Combustão.

Hipertermia - Same effect as the Shadowlands legendary, Tempestade de Fogo which itself was inspired by the tier 17 4p bonus from Paramentos do Estilhaçador Arcano. This talent makes it so consuming Embalo de Fogo has a chance to let us machine-gun fire off Ignimpacto and Golpe Flamejante. This is a very fun talent, but it's RNG.

Mente Ígnea - Previously an Azerite trait, this gives us a buff that stacks to 6% increased intellect.

Das Cinzas - Talent from the Queimando row, this grants additional Mastery per Chamas da Fênix and cooldown reduction.

Fúria de Alexstrasza - Talent from the Queimando row, this makes Chamas da Fênix and Sopro do Dragão always crit and Sopro do Dragão count towards Embalo de Fogo. Interesting that this talent can be picked without Sopro do Dragão.

Destruição Controlada - 10% increased damage above 70% and below 30% in execute. On its own this averages to a 6% damage increase. Further benefit to Toque Calcinante, Calcinar Aprimorado, and Incendiário

Acelerador de Chamas - Previously a PvP talent, this incentivizes not casting Bola de Fogo for extended periods. I assume this is supposed to be used with Chamas Fortificadas.

Combustion Duration - (Tooltip isn't working) This talent gives Combustão Crit to Mastery conversion and an additional 2 second duration. Without this talent Crit becomes an incredibly bad secondary.

Mestre das Chamas - More ignite damage outside of Combustão or 4 additional targets to ignite spread inside Combustão.

Fênix Renascida - Chance for ignite to make a target take damage. This talent also provides cooldown reduction for Chamas da Fênix but it is very likely we will take it even without being able to cast Chamas da Fênix due to pathing.

Fogo Indômito - 10% ignite damage. This also gives a Crit buff to allies. Important to note that since this is Crit rating, the Crit buff actually doesn't benefit the Mastery conversion of Combustão at all. I assume this is an oversight.

On the class side, we start on the left with Bloco de Gelo and put two points into Proteção do Inverno to grab Imagem Espelhada. We already know that Runa de Poder is something we want on the next tier, so we need to pick up either Estilhaçar or Cone de Frio, then Remover Maldição and either Roubar Feitiço or Retardar. In this case, we go with Estilhaçar and Roubar Feitiço.

With one additional point placed into Invisibilidade, the next row opens up with Runa de Poder. From here, we put two points into Nova Congelante Aprimorada to unlock Cintilação and give us a path to Poder Cambiante, which means two points into Proteção Cumulativa (completing this path until we unlock the 20 required row).

Going back up the tree, we slot in Raciocínio Rápido, Alterar Tempo, and Polimorfia em Massa to get access to Tomo de Antônidas. Barreira Tempestuosa is the alternative to Polimorfia em Massa but it costs three points instead of one so I don't see it ever getting picked. After placing our second point into Tomo de Antônidas, the final row opens.

We put three points into Ventos Frígidos for a measly 10% slow, choose either Anel Gélido or Proteção de Gelo and finally we have our first capstone Poder Cambiante. In order to also get Meteoro we have to pick up Mestre do Tempo because Velocidade Temporal is two points and will have us coming up short in the end. We put three whole points into Energia Redirecionada for a 6% heal (at best). After spending these points, we finally get access to Sopro do Dragão and Meteoro.

A lot of this is similar to the previous example, but since we aren't going for Poder Cambiante we can avoid a lot of the worst value Frost path nodes.

On the class side, we start on the left with Bloco de Gelo and put two points into Proteção do Inverno to grab Imagem Espelhada. We already know that Runa de Poder is something we want on the next tier, so we need to pick up either Estilhaçar or Cone de Frio, then Remover Maldição and either Roubar Feitiço or Retardar. From here, we put two points into Guarida Arcana for a 6% reduction to magic damage taken to unlock Cintilação/Banquisas. From here we slot Velocidade Temporal in order to open the path to both capstones.

Going back up the tree, we slot in Encantamento da Rapidez, Alterar Tempo, and Onda de Impacto to get access to Tomo de Antônidas. Barreira Tempestuosa is the alternative to Polimorfia em Massa/Onda de Impacto but it costs three points instead of one so I don't see it ever getting picked. After placing our second point into Tomo de Antônidas, the final row opens.

It feels bad, but we put three points into Fluxo de Tempo to get access to Invisibilidade Maior then Anomalia Temporal. Speaking of feeling bad, we have to put three points into Energia Redirecionada to get access to Sopro do Dragão and Meteoro. With both of our capstones slotted we have one whole point extra to actually make a utility decision with. I would say "Don't spend it all in one place" but that is exactly what we are doing with it by picking up Mestre do Tempo.
