Can we pet the wolf pup from our Beta Wolf Packs? How will character customization loadouts be handled in the Early Access and Open Beta weekends? Will Diablo IV really be the "return to darkness" that everyone hopes? In a Developer Update Twitter Space Q&A, these questions and more were addressed by the Diablo IV development team!
Information About Druid Class Mechanic Revealed
In possibly the juiciest question of the day, developers revealed more about the Druid class mechanic in Diablo IV. While Druids won't be available during the Early Access Beta Weekend, they will be playable during the Open Beta Weekend - with the caveat that the class mechanic, which is tied to the zone Scosglen, will be unavailable.
We've written a more in-depth summary about this mechanic in the link below!
Druid Class Mechanic Revealed for Diablo IV
Crossplay and Combined Regions Available
Players will be able to experience both full crossplay as well as full cross progression in Diablo IV. Both console and PC players will be adventuring in Sanctuary side-by-side, and you can even swap from console to PC and vice versa without losing progress!
Not only that, but Players will be able to experience Sanctuary quite literally side by side with others- both in group play and solo. While Players will, in certain areas, be able to see other players in the world whose latency is closely matched to their own, you can also invite anyone - from any
where
- to your party. There won't be separation of North American and European servers!
Localization for Thirteen Languages
Diablo IV will have localization for thirteen different languages, both in voice and text. While the Early Access and Open Beta weekends reflect this, it was clarified by developers that localization is still a work in progress. Players may encounter instances where localization is still incomplete - this will be remedied for the official launch of Diablo IV.
Character Customizations Will Not Carry Over
With the new in-depth character customization options for Diablo IV, many Players will love making their characters their own. This, however, will not carry over to the launch of live Diablo IV servers - so if you fall in love with your character's appearance, make sure to take screenshots to make the customization process faster and easier on launch!
Crafting Systems Not the Focus of Beta Weekends
While
Diablo IV has many new Crafting Systems to learn and explore
, Players won't focus much on them during Early Access and Open Beta weekends. Per the developers, many crafting systems come into their own later in the progression system as a character levels up. Since the Beta is capped at level 25, this obviously limits the depth of the exploration of these systems. Players can, however, begin tinkering with item modification - most notably with the Blacksmith, who can upgrade items.
Beta Wolf Pack is Unable to be Pet - But Other Dogs Are!
While the adorable
Beta Wolf Pack reward
will unfortunately stay curled up asleep through our adventures (growing pups need their rest!), other dogs throughout Sanctuary can, and should, be informed that they are in fact good boys and girls.
Diablo IV Will Be the "Return to Darkness" Many Fans Hope For
While the art direction of Diablo III was questioned by some fans, Diablo IV developers want to reassure that a Return to Darkness is nigh, in every sense. Combining the best parts of Diablo I, II and III, Diablo IV will have the bleak, gritty landscapes and scenery Players have loved - as well as a return to settings where the lighting is physically darker once more!
