This guy can be killed by a rogue and a druid on a stealth run. Be sure to pay attention because he hits hard.

He drops Flightblade Throwing Axe, which now has durability and can be used infinitely since patch 2.0. This is the best thrown weapon in azeroth atm.

This guy is in a room by himself on the lower part of LBRS, not all groups try to down him since he is somewhat out of the way. It is possible, however, to have a party of a druid and some rogues to down him, and given that he drops some nice rogue gear, I'd recommend trying. That is also a good alternative if you are needing the gem off of him -- only took 8 quick runs to get our entire group their gems, which was really only 2 hours or so (same amount of time it would have taken to finish the instance once in a regular group)

Just did seven back-to-back runs. Got the throwing axes every time, and the bracers five times. Not a single $%^#$%^#% gemstone. Sigh.

Lots of red santa hats for the season, though. :-)

Immune to stuns, disorients such as sap/gouge/blind and generally a badass.
He's got lots of different special skills such as kick and uppercut which hit for about 500 damage. He also has a throw axe skill which hits for about 1700 damage.

Solod as a 70 fury warrior (for fun of course) :P. Used Death Wish, recklessness, and had to use commanding shout at the end so I wouldn't die (I don't have Last Stand). In the end, I had about 4% of my health left.

Soloed by a 69 feral Druid today. He does hit hard, but he's not that much of an issue. Used regrowth proactively before the fight, lacerate, FFF, demoralizing roar continuously. I was at 53% health when he went down. Sadly... no gem dropped.

Soloed by a 70 fire mage.
Had 9103 health, 10091 mana, 867 spelldmg and 33.77% crit.
Kept Mana Shield up and survived about 1k health and 500 mana, with the use of a Super Health Potion and a Mana Emerald.
His throwing axe skill hurts alot...

Soloed by a Kara geared 61-resto druid. (Beaststalker gloves for my alt on the first kill. :3) Took almost ten minutes, but moonfire, rejuvenation, lifebloom, and about 10 mace skillups wore him down.

very easy for a feral druid (level 70 full epic kara/badge gear mostly) in dps gear in kitty form, just pound on him like a normal mob

his throwing strike hits for a flat 1750 damage and cannot miss/be dodged etc (has never done in about 15 fights so i assume its not possible)

I've been trying to keep up with the drop rates. Can anyone confirm that Voone still drops the Winter Hat in 2008 even if a low %? Or is it straight up only available as an uber rare outside of instance drop and only in Northrend Dungeons now? As someone stuck soloing this seemed like the easiest way to try and get one as a Fury Warrior.

I was completing quests in LBRS for Loremaster, and this fool still hits (relatively) hard, even on an 80.

First room, use the right side door (Upper or lower) into a room with a large pit.
Go through the doorway-hall with two Orcs patrolling inside on the eastern wall.
Go down the cracked walkway, across two wooden bridges.
Turn right shortly past the bridge to see two Ogres guarding a doorway.
Look to your right as you face them to see a group of Orcs on the edge.
Go towards the Orcs, down and around this walkway, into a room with trolls.
Use the ramp going down and out of this room.
Turn right at the intersection, and use the right hand off-ramp.
Directly in front of you will be a doorway with five or six enemies inside.
Turn right once inside the room, and go around the wall.
The War Master is waiting for you behind this wall.

Killed him yesterday still at 67 on my Nightelf Fury Warrior. Damage is exactly as described - 500s for hits and 1,600 or so from one of his attacks somewhere in there. Good news is his health isn't too high compared to other bosses but yes, he does hit hard!

The cunning troll joined the false Horde because he wanted to be its chief strategist, not because he believed in Blackhand's ideology. Voone sees the splinter faction as an underdog, and he enjoys the satisfaction of overcoming insurmountable odds.

Dropped this guy four times today on Argent Dawn and he appears to only drop one blue item as opposed to his previous two before the recent patch. This seems like a rather arbitrary change; could it be classed as a bug? Could someone please confirm this?

This guy, lorewise, is an anomaly among the Smolderthorns (and Firetrees, supposedly) in the Dark Horde. The Dungeon Journal tells us that he's a veteran of the Second War, where he engaged in the troll equivalent of Black Ops - leading small strike teams on hard-hitting operations into the heart of high elven territory.

Once the Second War was nearly over and the trolls had abandoned the orcs, Voone apparently decided that Lordaeron was too square for him and sought employment opportunities elsewhere. Eventually, when he learned about Rend Blackhand's Dark Horde and desire to defeat the dark iron clan, the Alliance and the New Horde Thrall built, he came to view the Blackrock-led splinter faction as an underdog caught up in a war they stood little chance of winning (a good estimate). Never one to miss out on the chance of overcoming insurmountable odds for the hell of it, he joined the Dark Horde and became its chief strategist, earning a unique and utterly impressive title while doing so.

Along with Shadow Hunter Vosh'gajin, he is one of the Dark Horde's forest troll "personalities", as it were. Despite his important status within Blackrock, he actually chills at the bottom of the instance, in an area called Tazz'Alor (the forest troll area; Alor is a common troll placename suffix). His fighting style mixes that of a warrior and an axe thrower, referencing the part the forest trolls played in Warcraft II. Just ensure your group has good equipment to withstand his blows and this encounter is a cakewalk.
