On the phases he is immune and spawns adds, bombs drop you can pick up and throw at him to kill adds and the shield.

heroic mode:
be sure to clear out any trash around the boss. you will need it incase he blade rushes into some1 far away.

when he shields your group should stack near the boss and pickup bombs throwing them on the shielded boss. tank will pickup the adds and also try stacking them near the boss so they get blown up as well. anyone can pickup bombs.

just know that not all bombs are pickupable.. ones that flash red and arent clickable will explode almost instantly.. get away from them! if they are yellow they are ok for about 2-3 seconds.. be swift

adds will destroy any dps or healers as they come in swarms so be sure to use mass roots (void tendrils for priest) (frost nova for mage) etc. incase you get targeted.. or bring them near a bomb/tank.(##RESPBREAK##)16##DELIM##Sas148##DELIM##

If you're struggling with this boss:

In the shield phase, the adds that spawn will stack a DoT Serrated Blade with increasing damage on their target that will deal well over 100k damage per 3 sec if target is exposed for too long, eventually making the healer unable to keep the tank alive.

As a tank I found it useful to tank every odd wave of adds (1, 3, 5 etc) as that will allow the DoT to expire in between. During this time the DPS should focus mostly on bombing the boss. Every even wave the tank and DPS should focus on bombing the adds while kiting them. As most DPS are able to use AoE crowd controls now, this should be rather easy.

You'll be surprised how easy it really is in the end :)

To me Pa'valak sounds an awful lot like Zorak from Space Ghost Coast to Coast (and originally in Space Ghost) - also a giant mantid, voiced by C. Martin Croker.

For some stupid reason, people think that they should be throwing the bomb at just the adds, which is INCORRECT mechanics. You want to get the shield down, DESPITE it saying ABSORB, the shield has basically a health bar, you do enough damage to it from the bombs, it will go down, you can DPS the boss faster, and the fight goes a lot smoother. If you want a beautiful practically always perfect fight, the tank and heals will be under the BULWARK/shield with the adds on tank of course, and DPS will be throwing the BOMBS at the SHIELD and adds and avoiding the spear/sword the boss throws and bombs that are about to go off. I have been in too many groups saying "THROW BOMBS AT ADDS" and they literally will not accept anything else. We must spread this knowledge to others who are just too ignorant to understand the true mechanics.

This fight can be soloed, but it cannot be face rolled; you need to know what you're doing. This fight is very challenging, even as a semi-decent geared lvl 100.

Burst everything you have at him from the start.
When he shields himself and the adds come, bombs will drop that have a little alarm graphic over them to alert you to their presence.. GRAB THE BOMBS.
Do not try to dps the adds down. Let the bombs do the work. GRAB THE BOMBS.
When the bombs drop, you have only a brief window opportunity to grab one. GRAB THE BOMBS.
As soon as you grab a bomb, a large target marker will appear which you can aim wherever you like for detonation.
Pull the swarm of adds over on the boss, who is under the shield, and let the bomb loose so that it simultaneously destroys the adds and also weakens the shield.
Quickly find another bomb and repeat this process until the shield drops.
When the shield drops, nuke the boss for everything you've got.
When he shields again, repeat the process. GRAB THE BOMBS.

TL;DR:
The bombs are the key to this fight. If you don't understand how to use the bombs properly, then you will NOT successfully solo this fight. If you need clarity, read the above information.
