This npc may seem bigger then most scorpids and be the only hostile one, but his hits and damage dealth are no higher then the other scropids around his level. Very easy to solo even with misconceptions.

The 1st boss of the 25-man raid, the Valley of Trials, Sarkoth is one of the most difficult encounters in the game. Quite often compared to Illidan and KJ, Sarkoth is a savage in combat, hence forth, he has not yet been slain. Also from this information, we assume the 2nd and final boss of the Valley of Trials, Yarrog Baneshadow, must be physically impossible to defeat. Although, we have gathered enough information to know each of Sarkoth's 3 phases. And it isn't pretty.

Phase 1:

The second Sarkoth is engaged, he will put an "Impending Doom" type poison on every single player in the raid called "Sarkoth Sting". Once placed on you, you have 12 minutes to kill Sarkoth before your character dies, and once killed by Sarkoth Sting, you cannot ressurect or be brought back to life for the next week, which is why it is considered his "Enrage Timer". And honestly, for anyone addicted and dedicated enough to reach the Valley of Trials raid and Sarkoth, 7 days away from WoW will have you thrown into a mental asylum.

Now, back to the raid. Sarkoth Sting cannot be dispelled or cured, but once you slay Sarkoth (though you won't, you really won't.) the poison from his tail can be extracted and used to cure the raid. After Sarkoth Sting is applied, Sarkoth will immediately use a buff called "Battle Hungry", which increases his damage by 500 and attack speed by 50%. This is known as an armor check, because if you survive, there's a chance you're prepared for phases 2 and 3. He will immediately start chopping away at whoever aggroed him, doing about 2500 every strike, but he hits twice as fast as regular mobs, so it's the same as if he were hitting 5000s.

Every 10 seconds, he will use Tailspike on a random target within his melee range, doing 8000 damage and stunning that target for 6 seconds. Once he is brought down to 75%, it's time for phase 2.

Phase 2:

Now that you've proved yourself worthy of surviving his Battle Hungry phase, time to get into the real battle. The Battle Hungry buff will fade, and he will replace it with the "Killer Instinct" buff, which seems to have no effect, but its real effect becomes known soon enough.

Throughout the battle, you'll notice Sarkoth's tail occasionally will start shaking violently and the spike will glow green. He will then do an emote, "Sarkoth's tail starts to shake." This is the sign to stop everything, all healing, DPS, all spells, and movement. If you press any key that has an effect on the game, even opening the menu, he will unleash a deathly blow called "Lethal Injection" which hits the person who made the action, as well as his 3 closest allies, killing them instantly.

Every 15 seconds during phase 2, not including time spent charging Lethal Injection, Sarkoth will use a cone AoE called Claw Frenzy, which applies the DoT "Claw Frenzy" to everyone in a cone in front of Sarkoth. The debuff lasts until you escape the cone, and does 3000 damage every second. It also slows movement speed by 20%, making it harder to escape the cone. Sarkoth will not stop Claw Frenzy until everyone is out of the cone, or everyone in the cone is dead. Time spent casting Claw Frenzy does not count towards the 15 second timer on Claw Frenzy.

If you manage to survive up to now, you may, just MAY be just slightly ready for the epic phase 3. Once Sarkoth is brought down to 40%, the real fun begins, and by fun, I mean slaughter.

Phase 3:

You will not survive this phase. If you do, hats off to you.

The second he enters Phase 3, he casts "Disbelief", which will cause him to randomly charge and kill 3 raid members.

After Disbelief, he will strike regularly for 5 seconds, then activates the buff "Mass Murder". Every blow he deals, the damage will increase by 1000, starting at 1000. With one attack every second, it's only a matter of time before he reaches high enough numbers to 1 hit.

If Mass Murder doesn't wipe the raid within 15 seconds, it fades from Sarkoth, but don't think it's over.

When Mass Murder fades, Sarkoth will turn into a mixed form of himself, Kil'Jaeden, and Illidan. He will instantly cast 3 spells at once, "Brushfire", which blasts towering flame chains all around him which do 15000 damage to whoever gets caught inside, "Arcane Demolition", which causes 5 meteors of Arcane Energy to fall in random places on the raid, killing anyone who is near them, and "Elemental Insanity" which does completely random, horrible things to random raid members, ranging from ripping their heads off, to exploding their innards.

There's no way you could have survived by now, but if you did, Sarkoth/KJ/Illidan will cast those three spells every 3 seconds until he dies, or you wipe.

If you kill Sarkoth, you must have hacked the game, but even hacks won't get you past Yarrog.

Pretty amazing how a lv 4 scorpion with 85 health would be cosidered one of the hardest 25-man raids. I know Sempra may think i lied or hacked my way to killing him but i one-manned Sarkoth when i was lv 3.

I killed Sarkoth with a level 2 orc shaman. Heal when you get low on hp.

Fortunately, with patch 3.0.8, he got nurfed...
Now when the encounter begins, he just skitters around like a little scorpion nipping at your toes.

Sarkoth is a scorpid with a nasty attitude. Brave soldiers and recruits
(low-lvl speaking, of course) have tried, and unfortunately failed. He is best known for the "incident" he created against the excited and high-spirited Hana'Zua, who currently lies wounded just south of Sarkoth's plateau. No one knows how long he's actually been around, but one thing is for sure:

He is the most awesomest scorpid in Wow.

Ok, so I rolled a dwarf hunter (Not having played either before). After I hit level 10 I started my search for an awesome pet. Beforehand though I had run into another hunter who was nice enough to introduce me to Petopia. So I started sifting through the lists of pets, and eventually came to the scorpid and decided it was the pet for me. After looking through the pictures I decided I wanted either a black and red or white and blue scorpid. I then realized that either way I'd have to trek all the way to the vally of trials.

I then started my journey through the Deeprun, Elywnn and Duskwood. Up until that point I hadn't had too much trouble. Having no friends on that server and not belonging to a guild I didn't have anyone to help me through Stranglethorn. So I basically died my way to booty bay. So after aggroing every animal in Stranglethorn and being ganked at least 10 times I finally made my way to Ratchet.

So I ninjaed my way into the valley of trials, tamed Sarkoth and hearthed back to Ironforge. I then realized I wanted the white and blue one after all and did it all over again. Lucky I got the flight paths. xD I named him Nachos.

As of patch 3.3 Sarkoth is a lot bigger and is neutral instead of aggressive. Along with other various mobs, such as Kobold Miner (bigger and fiery mace), and Burly Rockjaw Trogg ( bigger and is a tan/brown color instead of blue/grey)

Found him at 40, 66. He has 86 hp, and is a non-aggressive level 4.

Sarkoth has now grown pretty epic. He will now shoot poison which will stay in an area for about 10 seconds, making him a bit more difficult.

If he has the time to cast it. With only 112 hp, he will die in almost an instant, making his somewhat cool skill unnoticed, which is a big waste.

I found Sarkoth in a Dank Cellar near Old Tristram. The little bugger was stealing from a treasure chest. Suffice to say, my Witch Doctor took care of him and his pesky mates. I am enjoying my new blue Wanga Doll.

Sarkoth might be reference to Egyptian goddess of healing Serket who was pictured as a woman with a scorpion on her head or a scorpion itself. Her name had two meanings: The one who tightens the throat or The one who makes the throat breathe, thus she was believed to be able to cure wounds poisoned by scorpions and snakes, as well as to sting the ones who deserved it.
