Boss the Nexus, level 70-71 instance Northwest on Borean Tundra.

Pretty easy, at certain intervals the boss becomes immune to damage (you'll notice him shrink) and transfers himself to an orb-like mob. Kill that one the boss will reappear.
This will reoccur 4-5 times.

Tank Anomalus in the center of his platform with the rest of the group spreading out in a semi-circle on one side. Anomalus will frequently open a Chaotic Rift which will diminish his size and make him invulnerable to attacks. Crazed Mana Wraiths will spawn out of the rift if it is not killed quickly enough. Make sure all dps is switched onto the rift as fast as possible and if any Wraiths come out, have the tank pick them up. The rifts and the wraiths have faily low health and can be easily killed. Kill the adds before your party continues to dps down Anomalus. He will open a rift several times throughout the fight.

One thing I've noticed about Anomalus, after repeated fights and wins with him...

After the inital Chaotic Rift dies, he can and often -will- summon two Chaotic Rifts in a row. The ruse is that only one of them is his shield, and the other's just summoning adds and causing damage. Kill -this- one first, otherwise he turns back to normal, starts attacking, and combined with the 'fake-out' Rift, you end up wiping.

On heroic, this guy is, in my opinion, the toughest boss in the instance.

He spams the rifts constantly, so although they don't do much damage individually, it adds up quickly. If you want to keep the fight under control, you need to kill any rift he spawns as quickly as possible. The rifts are buffed in heroic; they can have anywhere from 20k-28k health. The mana wraiths that spawn from the rifts are pretty weak and die quickly, but you have to kill them fast, because they can quickly add up, and their arcane missiles do 600 a tick. As a DPS warrior, I would pummel them and then drag them over to the paladin's consecrate and let that deal with them, along with whirlwind. The fight can take a while, due to the fact that you constantly have to switch to the rifts while you fight.

All adds and rifts will despawn when the boss is killed.
We had to deal with quite a pack of these mobs because we didn't really bother that much killing the rifts.

We had an odd thing happen in our group, He was spawning 2 rifts at once. One which he hid in, the other which he didn't hide in and just kept spawning Wraiths. Seemed very odd, cause normaly he only spawns one rift and hides in it....Our group managed tho =)

What I couldn't understand is why certain rifts hit for 200-300 and the "shielding" ones hit for around 2k... I didn't have the time to see them, with 15k hp, because they killed me!

after I have done nexus as healer a twice I have noticed something that is so annoying > <

every time 1 dps die's because somehow.... the person gets so much damage put on them that they die to quick for me to respond. I know I have to act faster but what is it that puts out that much damage like that in 3 seconds? and how can or my group avoid it?

Ok, this boss might be a little tough to handle. When u enter battle, after fighting a bit, he will open a rift. Here comes the Importnant part: NUKE the rift as fast as possible! He keeps summoning rifts all the time, If you leave them, he will at reduced HP convert his power to the rifts nearby and that will make him Invulnerable to all damage and spells. If there is no rifts on the field when he convert, he simply summs one before he does it. But that leaves u with only ONE 12k hp rift to destroy. If u do this all the time, u should simply defeat him without any further probs.

My group figured out a great trick to making this fight a whole lot easier. Clear the groups of mobs leading to the flower area before Ormorok the Tree Shaper, then everyone but the tank (or pally healer if you have one) run back and wait near Anomalus. Tank, grab aggro on one of the little flowers and kite it back to the center of Anomalus platform and begin the fight. A DPS should then kill the flower and for at least half of the fight you will get the mana and health buff from the flower. It REALLY helps your healer and casters keep mana full most of the fight, and keeps your health high. The flower will run away eventually, but the buff should boost your party to a quick defeat of this boss. Good luck!

just attempted this in a group consisting of a 72 healadin and 2 lvl80 dpsers (rogue and hunter), with the hunter's cat tanking. we got clobbered 7 or 8 times. didn't just wipe, were obliterated. best run we had got him to about 50% health. we tried every strategy and tactic on this page, none of them helped even slightly, and the kiting one was actually a good deal worse than a straight run-up-and-hit-him.

another trick other than the flower one is to tank him on the thin platform between the bos's platform and the platform that held the mob b4 him. as long as noone has severe lag, noone should fall off. the reason for going here is that if you tank him in the middle of this area, the rifts will stay on it, making the rifts much closer to him, meaning your healer can get everyone easily and the dps have no problem hitting the rifts.

I managed to solo this boss in heroic mode AND done the chaos theory achievement at the same time, i used my level 85 prot pally. It was fairly easy but near the end you need to pop heaps of cooldowns to survive the massive arcane damage and all the mana wraiths!

The whole instance is solo-able on a 71 Prot paladin. Just finished it, the only hard pulls were the 4 dragon packs with the chaotic rifts so I skipped those and just went around, and the 4 pack of mages that can silence in front of Telestra. Just burned one down and died, came back and finished the other 3. Had to use Seal of Insight + Might (for the mana) for a few of the fights. For Omorok, pull a few of those little flowers with you and kill them under him, their aura will pretty much keep you topped on HP and Mana for most of the fight.

Edit- geared in Brutal Glad gear where available for 17,448 armor (61.28% reduction) and 17,770 HP. Used a bit of a PVP oriented spec as I've done a few bgs, so I could've done better on mitigation.

Kill the adds! Anomalus will become immune at 50% health and summon Chaotic Rifts, one at a time. Killing them removes Anomalus' immunity.

Chaotic Rifts will also summon Crazed Mana Wraiths if left alive.

The boss itself is not tough, but the adds deal constant AoE arcane damage.

Arcane Attraction: Increases Arcane damage taken increased by 2,000 for 10 seconds.

Create Rift: Summons a Chaotic Rift.

Charge Rifts: Charges a Chaotic Rift, causing it to empower and summon Crazed Mana-Wraiths at a faster pace. Immediately used after Rift Shield.

Rift Shield: Renders Anomalus immune to all damage for 45 seconds and channels energy into the Chaotic Rifts. Used before Charge Rifts.

Spark: Inflicts 2,025 to 2,475 Arcane damage to a target.

Chaotic Energy Burst: Inflicts 244 to 406 Arcane damage, jumping to nearby enemies and reducing its value by 50% per jump. Affects up to 3 targets. If charged, it instead casts Charged Chaotic Energy Burst, inflicting 357 to 593 Arcane damage.
