Somewhere halfway through the fight she'll split up in a frost and fire version of herself. The fire version casts Firebolts on random targets while the Frost version will cast Frostbolts and Blizzard. If both versions are defeated, she'll return to her former self. She also does a 'gravity lapse' sort of attack that picks people up and throws them around, also does a low damage DoT. Not too hard.

As of late, she splits into 3 halfway through the fight; frost, fire and arcane.

Arcane randomly polimorphs, aoe stuns, and arcane blasts(if I recall correctly). Polymorph can mess things up so advise killing this first.

Start off by tanking Telestra towards the back of the room. She will cast Firebomb and Ice Nova and melee the tank. She also casts Gravity Well which tethers all party members to her and tosses them around the room causing everyone to take shadow damage.
Group back up on one side and tank her on the other. At 50%, Telestra will split into three versions of herself: Arcane, Fire, and Frost. The fire version randomly scorches party members, but will stay on the tank for the majority of the time. Frost Telestra casts a room wide Blizzard, Frostbolt, and Ice Lance while the Arcane magus casts Time Stop which is a two second stun to all party members. The Arcane Magus also has the ability to sheep.
If you do not have any form of crowd crontrol, then it is best to kill the Frost Magus first to minimize party damage. If you do not have someone who can cleanse or dispel the critter effect, it is best to kill the Arcane Magus next. Otherwise kill the Fire Magus after Frost to once again help minimize damage being done to the party.
You can sheep or fear the magi if your party is capable and the magi can also be silenced. It is best to save silences for the Frost Magus's Blizzard if she is not CC'ed. After all three are killed, Telestra will re-assemble herself and continue to cast Firebomb and Gravity Well.

Make sure to stay grouped up on one side so that the healer will be in range of everyone and to keep the party's health topped off in case she casts Gravity Well again.

When she splits, all of the adds can be CC'd or trapped. It doesn't matter who you CC, as long as the Arcane version of her is contained or killed first to prevent your party from being morphed. Having two Hunters helps, as you can trap two of them and concentrate on one.

Gravity Well was a fun surprise. It's like being in a washing machine.

As a mage, I was able to ice block to avoid the Gravity Well. Also when she splits she can be Frost Nova-ed in place. As prieviously stated other forms of CC will work. I managed to Deep Freeze Lock 2 of the 3 copies while they took out the frost mage version.

When she splits the Magi clone's Polymorph can be spell reflected on her if you have a Warrior tank. I didn't expect it when it happened but it was funny to see her running around as a cat!

Grand Magus Telestra, sporting brutal helm and shoulders, definitely achieved a higher arena rating than Mage Lord Urom http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=27655#screenshots , who was only able to get Merciless gear.

In heroic version we found that when she splits in 3;
-the 3 copies are fearable (both by priests and warriors)
-they can not be mind-controlled
-they can be hexxed by a shaman

We beat her by Hexxing the Arcane (purple) mage and burning down the Frost mage (Blue). That way we could focus interupts on her blizzard spell which was doing 2000 dmg per tick on my priest. The Fire mage tends to be the least worriesome of the bunch.

The copies had about 60k life each if i remember correctly.

Can easily be soloed on normal by an lvl 80 hunter. Most mobs on the way to her can also be skipped. Easy way to get a Red Winter Hat :)

Easy to solo as a lvl80 Mage (in Normal mode).
You don't really need any particular spec here, although Frost is obviously much easier, especially for the trash pull just before the boss.

Phase 1:
Just use Fire Ward/Ice Barrier and nuke. Don't use any cooldowns; at lvl80 you will take only minimal damage if you just stay out of melee range.

Phase 2:
Here you need to kill two clones ASAP while staying out of their melee range.
The clones have 20K HP each.
Sheep one clone, pop Mirror Image+Water Elemental(if you have one) and use all your cooldowns to kill 2 other clones.
The clones will not aggro you until all Mirror Images and your Water Elemental are dead.
The dangerous part here is their Polymorph spell - if they manage to Polymorph you, you might end up in their melee range and then you are in trouble.

When you are done, just keep the third clone sheeped to regen/bandage.

Phase 3:
Same as phase 1.
If you kept the third clone sheeped long enough, you can even use your cooldowns again.
Incredibly easy.

Emergency Wipe Prevention Tactic:

If there is only one copy left of her and you party is wiping, and there is a mage in your group, have your mage iceblock until everyone else is dead, then release and spam sheep the copy. While the copy is sheeped, everyone must release and run back, rebuff, and finish the fight. You will get full loot and badges, this method has been proven to work as of build 3.0.4.

For any Prot Paladins interested in soloing her for a Red Winter Hat, it is possible but not overly easy.

Getting to her is cake. Just keep taking lefts until you get to her room, sneak past a few groups. The group of 4 right before her is actually one of the easiest for a Prot Paladin.

Telestra herself can be a bit tough. I'm 80, wearning mostly Blacksmith blues and was fully buffed from hitting AV before I went out. I had about 22k health.

The real problem is her tether ability. That's time off target which means less procs of JoL. I had to heal myself more than once, and even use LoH before it was all said and done.

Make sure to use Divine Plea early and often. I used FR aura for most of the fight and was able to do damage to all of her splits at the same time. They were pretty easy to kill.

It's a long fight, but if you stick in there, Divine Plea often and switch up light and wisdom as needed you should be able to make it without too much trouble.

Her hits are pretty weak, so you'll have ample time to heal (especially with Ardent Defender).

Just solo'd this as lvl 80 enh. Shaman in fully craftable blue gear, so I guess it's doable for everyone with a decent gear.

All mobs are skip-able accept for the ones in front of her and I actually had more trouble with those 4 then her.

Fight went accordingly:

Pop down totems (Strength, Windfury, Heal, Flametongue)
Go in swinging, and just nuke her till she splits, I wasn't even really paying attention to spells I needed to interupt spam Earth Shock as much as possible. Save your maelstroms for heals (duh)
When she splits summon wolves, and taunt the fire and ice ones with them. Then I used Shamanistic Rage in combination with trinket/blood fury (orc racial) to get her down as fast as possible.
Then just keep nuking them till all 3 are dead, upon which your wolves will probably die too.
Now you should be full health/full mana (or close to) so just wait for her to re-appear and use Bloodlust for the last little damage-boost.

Voila, your hat sir.

solo this as a bm hunter with a gorilla as my tank. Skipped all the mob to her but the 4 mobs in front of her.

Killing the 4 mobs:
1. Freezing shot one of the initiate
2. Let the mobs run to you and let your pet tank them. Remember to constantly mend your pet
3. One mob should die by the time freezing trap end. Let your pet die and faint death
4. Repeat step 1-3 until all of them all gone.

K for the magus, this is a little tricky.
1. DPS magus down till she split. Before she split, put down a freezing trap
2. One of the image is CC, DPS the other image. When freezing trap finish it CC, put down another one immediately, so when the CC image unfreeze, she will get freeze again.
3. If the fire mage itsnt CC, killer her first.
4. DPS the 2nd image down, CCing the last image.
5. After all image is down, finish the magus and loot your hat =D

This is how i did it:
1. DPS magus till she hit 60%
2. Dropped a Freezing Trap where the arcane mage would appear.
3. Let my gorilla tank the 2 image, killing the Fire Mage FIRST!
4.When my FT finish it CD, i put another one of the arcane mage.
5. During my second FT, the fire mage is almost dead.
6. Deal with the frost mage, CC the arcane mage when my FT pop.
7. Kill arcane mage. Popped BW to prevent being CC by her.
8. Killed her and looted my Red Winter Hat :)

I did her today for hat and for a few quests i had. I hit 78 the other day and we had 79 feral night elf tank, me(78 gnome demo lock) 73 furry gnome warrior, 73 holy human priest, and a 72 human death knight. We did not even get close to wiping ( on normal) and i think she is a fun, easy, enjoyable fight. 2nd time i have ran nexus, and i think i will never run it again cept for 1 or 2 times on heroic for gear. I hate this dungeon and think that it would be cool without it, except I am happy about my Red Winter Hat. This is not a dungeon to run if u want to have fun imo.

soloed as a pre naxx gear retadin in heroics gear, only like 3 epics and argent skele crusher, a lot of leather and mail armor as well. this is how i did it.
started off seal of command and just pummeling her, got her to 49%. she split into 3 and i repented the arcane one, stunned the fire one and burned her down, then hit frost resist aura and killed the frost one. waited for mana to come back using divine plea, and healed myself up, keeping arcane oen repented. (took like a min), then i just burned arcane down but repented her again at 5%. got my mana and hp back to full and then judged her once to kill her. waited for telestra to come back, popped wings and just smoked her as fast as i could. now i got a nice christmas hat :D

Heroic Note:

We wiped because I was too slow after the split to aggro all three mobs. I'm guessing that the aggro table resets and they'll start gunning for your healer right away. I used my CD challenging shout right after the split the next time around and it helped tremendously. Be ready to quickly tag all three mobs after the split if you're not using CC.

Two things for this fight:

1. Threat resets when she splits forms, meaning your healer is very likely to be attacked by at least one form. Be sure that you do something to help your healer, including throwing down a Grounding Totem or bubbling it if you can.

2. According to a hunter I ran the Nexus with (me being the tank), Frost Traps did not work as CC when she split into three forms.

Here is a bit of a good strategy to get the achievement for her. Once she splits start by lowering Purple's health to about 5% or so. Then do the same for blue then red until they are all about the same health. Then absolutely blow them up. They will all die within seconds or so of one another. Rinse and repeat until she is finally defeated. Fighting this way can be a challenge since you will need some good DPS and Heals. A Pally tank is recommended but not required.

I had a rather...amusing encounter with her as a Paladin Tank!

Along with a PuG of four members, including me. A priest, 74, Holy. A Rogue, 69 Combat, and a Frost 70 Death Knight, and I, 71 at that time.

I was horribly specced and lacked experience with the build, despite my general knowledge at how the class works as a tank--
(Benediction on prot and other miserable things. Forgetting to use Holy Shield and wasting cooldowns. Just specced from Ret), but at the split personality, half our group wiped from scorches and AoE stun mess-ups. I was basically doing turtle-speed DPS with Seal of Vengeance DoTs and judgments, and the occasional Hammer of the Righteous.

As usual, when I see the end coming, I cooly fight, fully anticipating the end, but the damage went on.

Eventually, we duo'd her to phase 2, when she goes back into normal form, and the weak, yet steady damage got her.

I was surprised when I saw her steadily dying, so I threw off my shield, and put on my Axe of Frozen Death, and DPSed her. Popped my QQ wings, and began throwing Hammers of Wrath.

Eventually, she was down. Groupies didn't believe it.

"I can respec...but I can't take the Retadin out of me," I said, flexing.

This boss is extremely hard when the spec aren't being practiced accordingly. Yesterday, I went there as a healer (balance druid), the tank was fury warrior and it resulted in a disaster. But today I went there with right specced party and destroyed her in a very decent time.

Odd thing happened, right after the last split we, somehow, managed to kill the boss while the illusions were still up, we killed the illusions but when they disappeared we couldn't loot the boss.
Did anyone else have had similar situation?

I can proudly anounce that she is soloable! On my demo lock, for those of you absolutely desperate for stone keepers shards and can't find a group, I can confirm that this is your easiest option especially with the WG quests on 1 week cooldown!

Okay, I've seen alot of great guides on how to kill her, but here's my measly two copper on the issue:

You must take out all the mobs around her room first, so you don't accidentally draw them. That means disaster.
You must have a very good tank for this. She can be very tough and very deadly if your tank is inexperienced. Same goes for your healer.
When she throws you around the room, you must rely on instant casts, because all other spells will be inturrupted. When you land on your feet again, be ready to automatically start fighting her again, because if you're disoriented and hesitate once you land, it's game over.
When she splits into her clones, you must attack arcane, frost and fire, in that order. Most people just say purple, blue and red, so that's what you should remember it by. If the tank knows what he/she is doing and has done this boss before, just attack whatever the tank is attacking.
Death Knights should cast their Army of the Dead when she splits into clones. That way, the clones will attack the ghouls and not you and your party members.
You need to take her down fast. DPS is very important. Watch your health, also, and keep her targeting the tank. If even on person dies, she'll probably overwhelm you. This fight can get out of hand very, very quickly.
Only talk unless you need to. Your hands will be plenty busy pressing all of your keys. Vent helps.
Any powers that interrupt her casting and/or limit it in any way SHOULD BE USED. (e.g. Strangulate, Mind Freeze, Pummel, etc.)

Those of us Mages who picked up the Rabbit Polymorph during the Noblegarden festivities may find it doesn't work on the split Telestra clones. My group died a few times before I figured out it wasn't working at all, versus working and being immediately broken. I plan to check more Polymorph forms on future runs...

You make the whole fight sound like this is the last boss of Trial of the Crusader in heroic mode or something.

It's really not that hard. Sure those things help, but you can go to the fight without discussing tactics, let dps and tank (and healer) do whatever they normally do, kill the adds in any random order and you'll still come out as a winner. Because it's not that hard, just a fight among others. I might not have said anything if your advice wasn't so... imperative :)

just a quick hint on this boss...
when you kill her copies, the tornado forms in the middle fo the room (brown, swirling vortex) if u tell dps to stand on it (all except hunters becuz of minimum range) she will form on it and use the gravity atk quickly. she will not move with u b4 she uses it so if u can be on to of her, she will throw u straight up instead of out. doesn't make a large difference but less anoying than having ot walk all the way back to her. it usually allows your melee dps to get a bit more dmg.

edit: ... and also very easy for a balance druid. Too bad you can't sneak by the dogs or dragonkin. After having done it on my mage, I knew what to expect and getting to her was a bit easier.

Soloed her in normal mode as DK. Went tank spec for melee guys on way to here and did her in blood/dps spec. Cleared all the adds then popped Army as I went in. Strangulate and Mind Freeze seemed to work on her. She only did her mirrors once.

Solo'd as a prot warrior in t8/t9. Had a little harder time than I should have, due to not bringing any resist gear/potions/anything with me.

You cannot interrupt or reflect the main boss. You can reflect or interrupt pretty much all of her aspects' spells, so spam spell reflect in that phase.

Take a few seconds after the split phase to bandage.

Honestly, you're probably better off doing this in dps spec with one or two heavy stamina pieces (and optionally a macro to switch in a 1h and shield for reflect spamming on the split phase). Most of your survivability is going to be due to her spells Missing anyway.

For those that still need the hat, it's easily soloed by most classes I reckon with somewhat decent gear. At her low HP in normal mode she has about the same HP as the elite mobs for quests in Dragonblight (read: not much).

Basic strat for any mob as a Shadow Priest really. Stand, let her spells resist on you and when she splits, Vampiric Touch + Pain will kill a copy all by themselves. After that it's pretty much basic.

The fact that she constantly casts makes this ridiculously for any class, as long as you don't interrupt her casts (melee I bet she does quite some dmg on a clothie).

Some tips for the trash:

- On the pack before her take out the only melee mob in there (no mana on his char) first. You should be able to burn it down before he gets to you. After that the next 3 are easy.
- You can avoid _all_ mobs that are frozen in the semi-circle.
- Mobs have about 30-35k HP, the dragonish thing about 100k
- The dogs have an annoying Silence, it's easier if you wear something that can remove silence
- I didn't, but you should be able to avoid the packs with two dogs.

Just solo'd her on Heroic as 84 Prot Pally with 313 avg gear Item Level. I don't consider myself to be very good at this game and while she is certainly one of the more hectic boss fights i've done, I don't think I was ever in any danger of imminent death.

With her mirror image thing, I went with the order Frost/Fire/Arcane because when soloing, the polymorph doesn't last very long due to the incoming damage. Time Stop didn't really do much either.

As many people are still fleshing out their WotLK / Northrend content in this starting zone, or even trying to wrangle some The Wyrmrest Accord reputation, I felt this mini-guide would be extremely helpful to new and experienced players alike. It should be noted that the majority of these quests count towards Nothing Boring About Borean which also leads one towards . =^)

These quest series begin by discovering a Scintillating Fragment (right-click on this item in the player's bags), dropping from one of the Coldarra Spellbinders, which then starts the first quest chain .
*Player note: Do not confuse the Coldarra Spellbinders (humanoids) with Coldarra Spellweavers (which are dragonkin)*

Puzzling... which after turning in to Raelorasz at the Transitus Shield gives players...

The Cell where you search for two other fragments of an arcane prison (Prison Casing / Energy Core. Items acquired at this point become Augmented Arcane Prison upon turn-in.
*Player note: Both items are found only on the two blue dragon micro-bosses (General Cerulean / Warbringer Goredrak) in the center of the blue round magic circles outside of the The Nexus fissures.*

Here it appears this chain ends, but actually continues on in a 2nd chain. If you lose your Augmented Arcane Prison at any time, speak to Raelorasz at the Transitus Shield for a free replacement.
*Player note: Just be certain that it wasn't placed in the bank during a side trip, as there aren't any banks within a large portion of this zone (including the Hold). If he doesn't automagically give you the option to replace it, try clicking the "What is the cause of this conflict?" to bring it up.*

Upon right-clicking Augmented Arcane Prison, player then releases Keristrasza who then begs for assistance to confront Malygos by talking to her once the player is ready for the The Nexus raid zone.

Keristrasza allows players to speak to her again to continue the chain.
*Player note: If she somehow gets lost or the player drops the quest, it is best advised to go just outside of the Shield and summon her for each next quest, as other locations sometimes quest error or are incorrect areas.*

Bait and Switch has players collect 10 Crystallized Mana Shards (which are the pink crystal plants all over Coldarra) to make bait to beat his blue dragon guardian, Saragosa human form / Saragosa (dragon non-quest form). Pretty self-explanatory, just turn them in when done, any extras can be safely deleted.

Once collected she calls for Saragosa's End and gives players a Arcane Power Focus with which to bait Saragosa and drag back Saragosa's Corpse for another quest.
*Player note: When ready, talk to Keristrasza by using the Augmented Arcane Prison and she will teleport the player to Saragosa's platform up way above. Use the Arcane Power Focus to summon her and she'll arrive in dragon form then change to human form for the fight. When dead, call Keristrasza and turn in the quest, accept the next quest and stop talking to her. Speak to her again for a FREE teleport back down to the ground for the next turn-in.*

Mustering the Reds is where she asks players to carry her to Raelorasz back at Transitus Shield (in the Prison). Turn it in!

Raelorasz then wants players to start Springing the Trap by using Raelorasz' Spark to light a signal fire on some bundles of wood to the northwest of the Nexus at coords 25.5, 22.
*Player note still valid by user beachboy:
1. Open your map. Move your character so that the arrow representing your position is directly above the "N" and to the left of "The" in "The Nexus" on the map. The bundle of wood you have to light is outside, in the snow.
2. Light the bundle of wood using the item provided to you, Raelorasz' Spark.
3. Take your hands off your keyboard and mouse, sit back, and enjoy the show. After a few minutes of NPC dialog and a scene where you ride a dragon, you should complete the quest. You do not have to do ANYTHING.
4. Turn in the quest at Transitus Shield.*

Finally Raelorasz asks the player to lay to rest the corrupted aspect of the Prisoner of War, Keristrasza, which shows her as insane probably due to being forced to become Malygos's new consort. Could also explain Keristrasza's Broken Heart
*Player note: Players will have to defeat all of the bosses in the The Nexus in order to be able to finally release Keristrasza's corrupted aspect. Each boss is connected to one of the three click-able spheres to release her (Grand Magus Telestra=Telestra's Containment Sphere / Anomalus=Anomalus' Containment Sphere / Ormorok the Tree-Shaper=Ormorok's Containment Sphere). Proven exception is the Horde Commander and Alliance Commander, which are trash bosses that can be skipped, though Heroic replacements Commander Stoutbeard and Commander Kolurg have blue gear loot.*

Im a level 85 hunter and I had to kill Grand Magus Telestra on heroic mode for the Red Winter Hat to drop. It did not drop for me in normal mode. on 12/16/11

Wanted to "carry" to twinks lvl 74+76 through normal Nexus with my lvl 85 - Telestra wore the hat, but did not drop it. I will try cleaning the trash with lvl 85 and leave. Guess the twinks have to manage Telestra for themselves.
Edit: Tried again with lvl 79+79+73 (all in dungeon level range, no 85 involved) - no hat on boss and no drop.

Confirmed! Grand Magus Telestra drops the lovely Red Winter Hat 100% of the time on Heroic mode. This is very easy to solo at lvl 90 even with my crappy gear at item lvl 454. You can head straight for her via the left wing. Even though she looked dashing in the Christmassy Cap herself, I gladly prized it from her dead body, wiped off the blood with my festive sleeve and popped it on my head. Finally, my outfit is complete and I can bear the title of merrymaker with pride - Hurrah!

Today, I decided to kill her for the winter hat. I'm lvl 100 frost mage with item level 647.

I went in heroic Nexus. BANG! killed her 1 shot.

Then idk why but

- No loot

- No hat too because no loot

- Just her corpse, and her corpse dissapear fast

- She never came back after

- It said that I didnt defeated her 0/1

There is no comment bout that but if you know why this happened, could you explain? Thank you!

Spread out! Her Firebomb ability has a blast radius and can damage players near the target.

At 50% (and 15% in Heroic mode) she will split into 3 Mirror Images of herself, each of which uses a different type of spells. You usually want to kill them in this order: Arcane, then Frost, then Fire.

She is vulnerable to spell interrupts, and effects that increase casting time. Her Mirror Images can also be crowd-controlled.
