This boss confirms my decision to stop raiding. I'll leave it to the youngsters, with better hand eye co-ordination, whose brains don't get fried by so many spell-effect flashing lights at the same time as dodging mechanics.

is this guy bugged? people in raid are saying he does his weapon throw thing twice in a row and is oneshotting tanks..
besides that i have to say this is one of the hardest bosses ive ever done lol, so many wipes!

Can the Shadowsteel Chains damage the Spiked Balls? Im sure as i was passing through i damaged the ones on the left and the right of me with the chains but perhaps it was a fluke? They hit everything else in their path so why not the balls too?

I'll remember this boss fondly. A wall of difficulty that's so well-designed you can only be mad at your friends or yourself, not the game, when you die a spiked death.

Anyone else get hit by his Chains, end up falling into the Abyss, and when you revive you end up in the Barrens? Is this a new LFR mechanic?

so frustrating tonight had to call raid an hour early, tank was getting balls to his face when running to drop hammer in corner, then when balls came out tank was hit with hammer at the same time. nothing we could do. beware normal is seriously bugged

Overview – The Painsmith's chamber is built from deadly spikes that erupt from the floor, activated by his weapons' attacks.
Upon reaching 70% and 40% health remaining Raznal will leap to his anvil to forge a new weapon, allowing him to activate spikes in devious new combinations.
- Tanks –
  Deadly spikes erupt from the floor when Painsmith Raznal throws his weapon.
  [Cruciform Axe], [Reverberating Hammer], and [Dualblade Scythe] inflict massive damage to nearby players upon impact.

Stage One: A Chamber of Agony

The Painsmith wields an Instrument of Pain amidst razor sharp spikes that erupt from the floor.

The Painsmith wields a weapon of his own crafting, starting with the [Cruciform Axe].
- Echoes of Pain – The impacts of Cruciform Axe, Reverberating Hammer, and Dualblade Scythe cause players affected by Shadowsteel Chains to erupt with spikes in four directions.
- Cruciform Axe – The Painsmith hurls his axe at his current target, inflicting 180 Physical damage and applying Blackened Armor. Flames erupt from the impact and inflict 90 Fire damage to all other players. Players farther from the target take less damage.
  Spikes erupt in four directions from the target's location.
  - Blackened Armor – Inflicts 11981 Fire damage every 1 sec and increases Physical damage taken by 200% for 14 sec. This effect stacks.
- Reverberating Hammer – The Painsmith hurls his hammer at his current target, inflicting 210 Physical damage applying Blackened Armor. Flames erupt from the impact and inflict 120 Fire damage to all other players. Players farther from the target take less damage.
  Spikes ripple outwards from the target's location.
  - Blackened Armor – Inflicts 11967 Fire damage every 1 sec and increases Physical damage taken by 200% for 14 sec. This effect stacks.
- Dualblade Scythe – The Painsmith hurls his scythe at his current target, inflicting 240 Physical damage and applying Blackened Armor. Flames erupt from the target and inflict 150 Fire damage to all other players. Players farther from the target take less damage.
  Spikes erupt in four directions and then ripple outwards from the target's location.
  - Blackened Armor – Inflicts 11967 Fire damage every 1 sec and increases Physical damage taken by 200% for 14 sec. This effect stacks.

Upon reaching 70% and 40% health remaining the Painsmith leaps to his anvil and begins to craft a new Instrument of Pain.

Black Flames – With each strike of the Painsmith's hammer flames erupt, inflicting 11981 Fire damage to all players and applying Lingering Flames.
- Lingering Flames – The forge's flames smolder, inflicting 0 Fire damage every 1 sec. This effect stacks.
Spiked Balls – The Painsmith drops spiked balls that roll across the chamber floor, inflicting 75 Physical damage to players caught in their path and stunning them for 8 sec.
