Save your interrupts for when he casts Incorporeal. This is a DPS race, so you need to be able to damage him as much as possible.

This guy is pretty punishing if you didn't pick up any damage anima powers. He'll get to 10 stacks buffed and then you can't interrupt him at all. Just a numerically hard fight that you might not have the powers to deal with - I certainly didn't.

Fury Warrior here. Best thing I found was to save your pummel for Deafening howl as they line up almost perfectly. This was what was doing the most damage to me anyway. Arms may have an easier time with this as it's possible to leap away during incorporeal and get a few heals from Second Wind.

frost mage ilvl 175 was easy kill, start with all cds and interrupt incorperal and thats it, in my case i had really really @#$%ty bonuses and one extra potion which i didnt need because my hp never fell to 50% hp. also i didnt clear nothing exept my way up to boss so no extra bonuses.

p.s. jelly noobs that are not able to do it keeps downvoting. sad

W1 on Layer 3 as 150 ilvl Sub rogue, was an easy kill - still had a phial ready at the end. Buffed echoing reprimand, eviscerate damage, +3cp on reprimand, and animacharged CP to act as 20cp. I have a low quality video too if anyone is interested. I did not have the Smoke capsules available in any level.

P.S. Compared to my first L3 try where I got patrician this was a cake walk. I was not able to get patrician below 50% before dying, with all I had.

Got to this guy on my 2H Frost DK, Upper Reaches Layer 3. Never went for the Interrupts on Incorporeal, and instead focused on Deafening Howl. Didn't hurt that I got 8sec of Icebound Fortitude on every successful Mind Freeze interrupt. If you get the "Death Grip has a 3sec Knockdown" power, it is so worth it on anything you fight, but even without it, Death Grip is a second interrupt, if you are quick enough (more valuable for bosses with channeled abilities). Being Night Fae means I got healing from Soulshape every minute (thanks to the one power that cuts the CD by 30sec).

Also, getting the Bottled Enigma power is a godsend against any targeted ranged attacks, both from normals and bosses. More potent for casters than melee, but still, it forces enemies to close the gap.

Didn't have the luxury of using smoke bombs, but will keep them in mind for the future.

The hardest fight of Week1

PET

Went with Ferocity Pet (Cat) to make use of the damage reduce ability.
Heal pet on cooldown.
During Incorporeal you have the time to res the pet in case it dies.

FIGHT

Interrupting only Deafening Howl. Used turtle at the end to avoid unnecessary damage.
Dispelled Incorporeal during my burst windows (I got 2 during my fight).
Used Alchemy's Spiritual Rejuvenation Potion.

The boss is definitely kite-able as well if you are low on health and cannot resurrect your pet.

I downed it today on ilvl160 priest. Strangely enough keeping it at max distance with the 30% speed boost anima power made a lot of difference. (4th attempt, it wasn't easy at all)

The key here is to get him to drop his stacks of "unnatural power" during the fight because once he reaches 10 stacks, he's immune to CC and gains 100% increases to damage and movement speed...aka and enrage timer that kills you.

For mages: Kite and dps him down until he has like 8 stacks, stay at max distance and wait for him to cast incorporeal (it makes him virtually immune to damage but he also just kinda sits in one spot while casting give you time to operate) - then pop mirror image and go inviz...his stacks will drop after like 10 seconds - then pop out of inviz and resume kite / dps until he's dead.

Not sure if this works with other specs that have an aggro drop, but probably worth a try!

So, just spent 1.5 hours in torg - fractured halls to end with this sob. Aff warlock here, no issues until him. At about 20% hp left, he tunnels me, ignores my pet. And I'm screwed - try to fear, mortal coil - nothing works. If only he would stay on my pet... All 5 deaths at him. Read strats but i couldnt get him to stop tunneling me. Just venting.

Sigh... this is the reason I wont waste any more time in Torghast until endgame. I cleared layer 2 easily enough with Affliction Warlock ilvl 155. Now after 10 more ilvls I am returning, and got completely rekt by this boss after spending close on an hour in here. No RNG luck with the vendor's offerings, so that hour is completely wasted. If Torghast is supposed to be this random - then it is too random to be enjoyable for me. Sure, random is exciting, but Russian roulette is not.

I agree with previous comments, as a prot warrior I found it an easy fight once I ignored his incorporeal ability and focused instead on stopping his deafening howl.

Arms warrior. It took 3 tries. I killed it finally because I had the Spectral Oats — Heal 2% of your max health every 1 second while running. So after 2 deaths I decided to run around him for healing and leaving the defensive CD-s to the end to be sure. 3500 DPS was more than enough with only 4 interrupts made. I think this power helped to interrupt, too: Pridebreaker's Anvil - Condemn knocks down the target for 0.5 seconds.

Vengeance DH, This guy is a pain in the but, very difficult for me. I had the best luck by Devouring Incorporeal and interrupting Howl.

Running as a Frost DK, if you have the chance! First off, pick up the smoke bombs, he basically cannot harm you when you are in these.

Pick up though the Icebound Fortitude Anima Buff to someone a Frost Drake.

Also, Pick up the Anima Buff for Mind Freeze also activates Icebound Fortitude when hitting an interrupt.

From here, you have a 10 second cooldown or so, interrupting his spells as well as an instant huge burst dps on the Frost Drake, as well as interrupting his main spell Incorporeal.

Did a few Torghast runs and this was one of the bosses. As a Vengeance DH the easiest thing you can do is take every power up that increases your health if they pop up. All three runs tonight I was at around 106,000 life at the end so it didn't really matter what the end bosses did. Nothing did enough damage to matter.

As a BM hunter, 181 ilvl, i killed the guy without being hit once

I got the anima powers that prevent him from hitting in close combat and obscure his vision, so he missed with all his attacks

Tip to check the hologram on lvl3 was really helpful! I would probably skip these powers in favor of some dmg ones

But, again, i got lucky

This guy was really a bastard. I'm 198 Balance Druid. Many attempts, and almost gave up, but finally got him on my last life. For what it's worth, it seemed impossible, then the right combination of strategies took him down finally.

As others have said, the key is to both interrupt the Howl, and - I would say most importantly - to clear the stacks of "unnatural power". I can't emphasize that part enough.

On balance, my strategy for the stacks was:

At around 5 or 6 stacks, use Treants to keep him busy, and while they keep him in combat, I used shadowmeld (sorry non-elves). This cleared his stacks.
Second time around, I used typhoon to CC him. Then there's a very small window, right before it expires if you can time it, typhoon him again, and his stacks will clear. This took some practice.

Otherwise I completely ignored his other spell and burned him down eventually. Convoke helped. Good luck!

As as a disc priest, if you picked up the ability to fade and drop a replica of yourself, this helps a lot on kiting him. Also, instead of using dispel when he channels the damage reduction, use it to get more distance. Pain supp or use another cd if he does reach you, because I had 88k hp and he was hitting me for maybe 60-70% of my life in 1 hit. You can outrange the deafening howl, or fear it if he's not immune. Other than that, he wasn't too bad; just don't think you can stand still the whole time and tank him.

Found him in Twisting Corridors, Layer 18. He just one-shot me using auto-attacks at merely 4 stacks. I'm a 2H Frost Death Knight, and I had 75% passive health boost and 50% health boost when using Pillar of Frost. I had two Horsemen with me, and they both died in a few hits. Seems like it might be glitched or just extremely unbalanced.

I just did it with a Desto Warlock, on the twisting corridors at level 6 on floor 18. The Deafening Howl is insta killing you after 3-4 hits. The boss had around 5500k health

- I had 120k health and my void-lord had 780k health.
- I had +3 Infernals procking with both the Summon Infernal and Impending Catastrophe (venthyr covenant)
- I had +100% extended time of Infernals.
- I had +20% health recovery from powers
- I had +% on demon damage (not sure how much it was :/ )
- I had a lot of haste stacked up
- I had reduction of Demonic Circle: Teleport down to 8 seconds

The trick is to put a Demonic Circle at 65 range and have the void-lord tanking the boss at 35-40 range powers. I spammed Rain of Fire for the constant +20% health recovery for the pet and Chaos Bolt all the time, nothing else. The overall damage calcs were 55% of infernal damage, 30% of melee attack from the void-lord, and the rest was split between Rain of Fire and Chaos Bolt.
- My average DPS was in the range of sustained 30k-40k per second, with spikes to 100k

I hope this helps, as this boss can be a pain, if you are unsure what kills you :)

187 WW Monk - just finished this boss - use interrupts on howl if you can over others...and kick him on other ability. Drop transcendence to skip at times...avoid/dodge and on CD attack. Keep TOD at the end and you can easily kill him.

My nelf balance druid is 189. I'm not a great player so maybe this boss got nerfed. I came across him on Floor 6 in The Fracture Chambers. I used Convoke and Celestial Alignment. I used Typhoon on a cast. He didn't go down easily, but neither did he push my toon to the edge. I didn't have to heal as I did with some of the mob on earlier floors.

Just spent 3 hrs on Torghast and came to 18th floor and got Gherus the chained. I am Destro Lock Ilv 158 so i am a bit low, but im finding when he howls twice im dead. I have tried interrupt and gateway to get away from him, infernal's to stun him. but still im dying. I guess i come back when I am higher as none of the strats worked.

Blood DK... interrupted as much as I could, otherwise just kept piling on the DPS, especially those with augmented heals from items I bought or acquired. Never fell below 60% health and even forgot to use the horseman talent I acquired (summoned by using death gate).

Level *one* torghast, floor 18.

ilvl 190 guardian druid, every other trash, elite and end boss to the point has been really really easy.

Even my two convokes and my 75 anima powers are not downing this guy. I've got 70k health, he's got 2.3million. His average hit is 24k. I took 965k damage.....

For actual fcks sake.

So angry, I'm going to consider quitting the whole fcking thing.

This boss is very unforgiving for solo casters. It can not be slowed/kited, and you do not have enough interrupts to stop every Incorporeal.

As a mage I had to spec into Ring of Frost as an extra interrupt and still had a miserable time getting it down.

After several runs to farm in Skoldus Hall and The Upper Reaches for Gatekeepers of Torghast, I found him in The Fracture Chambers.

I've seen him before several times on different chars and hadn't had too much trouble with it during weekly soul ash runs (so, not TC). DH definitely had the easiest time with him damage wise and my main (warlock) has enough DPS that worrying about deafening howl was't that big of a deal.

Got him at TC Layer 4, Floor 18 today as 210 ilvl affliction warlock. I had so 8 deaths to spare when I came to him. Found it to be nigh impossible. My anima powers were extremely strong (voidwalker buffed to 700% health and damage, crazy haste and mastery buffs, no shards for MR, crazy amount of self heals... you know, the good stuff) and I practically facerolled through all the floors until I came across this abomination. He had 3.9m HP and I just couldn't get him down.

The howl eventually gets to a point where it will one shot you. Tried interrupting his casts with shadowfury, mortal coil, souldshape + stun anima power and most importantly fears. The thing is, as a warlock, none of these are actual interrupts, you have to time everything just right otherwise a howl will get through. And even with Curse of Tongues slowing his casts, and timing my fears just right, one would always get through. Another 2 hours down the drain sadly. At least up until this it was a lot of fun. If a warlock manages to kill him in TC, layer 18, I would very much love to hear/read/watch your tips.

I like that Blizzard is pushing to make interrupts more of a thing but this really feels like a slap in the face as a warlock. I really can't see how this would be possible at floor 18, especially in higher layers as a warlock.

I was just trying my vengeance spec for the first time on my DH, ilvl 205, so it was only level 2 of Twisting Corridors. I wanted an easy place to try out unfamiliar spells. But I got this guy on floor 18. Had really good anima powers including about 500K health, an extra talent in 3 or 4 rows, no cooldown on Metamorphosis or Fel Devastation. All I had to do was Consume Magic to remove his Incorporeal - they were on the same cooldown, so that was always instant - and interrupt his Howl, which was usually right after getting him out of Incorporeal. Never used a healing orb or potion. I know it's just level 2, but floor 18 of Twisting Corridors on level 2 is an awful lot like level 8 of floor 6. I keep reading that tank and healing specs are easier in Torghast at this point, and found that to be true. My balance druid does better in Torghast than my havoc DH in general, and this felt easier in tank spec.
