As of BETA this rare is lvl 123 and super strong it has a buff called Soul-Bonded that gives it +60% damage done .... personally i would go the opposite direction to this guy

This boss is very similar to the creature leshen from The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt. Much like the leshen, the Soulbound Goliath has an animal skull for a head, large, branched horns, and a towering body that seems to be mainly made out of wood.

The previous boss in the dungeon, the Heartsbane Triad, bears striking similarity to the Crones, or Ladies of the Wood, the three of which also appear in the The Witcher universe: Weavess, Brewess and Wispess. Much like the Crones, these three witches—Briar, Malady and Solena—are sisters, and two of them wear masks to hide their facial features.

I was not able to solo this boss as a 369-geared protection paladin due to Soul Thorns, which is uninterruptable and stuns for at least 15 seconds (maybe more). There's no debuff on you when you're stunned and no timer, but it's a long time. After the stun wears off, there's only a short window of time before it's cast again. In addition the boss has a stacking damage buff so I was taking a ton of damage during this time.

Update: I was able to solo this boss in 8.3 with my retribution paladin at 434 ilevel without too much trouble. It did require some healing a bubble at the end up but it's easily doable with the improved DPS and armor from better gear.

Helluva tough fight, died several times.

Eventually I started directing my pet (BM Hunter_ to go behind the fires, as he had aggro, the Behemoth kept walking through them, wherupon it ceases attacking whilst it burns. Much easier once you take advantage of that strategy.

Just solo this as a 403 BM hunter. It ended up being straight forward but a long grind.

The short of it, just let your pet grind it down while you heal/bestial rage/kill command in the background.

A murder of crows, when you can as much as you can

Key parts:

Exhilaration before your pet dies.

If pet dies, resurrect it immediately. The tree will have aggro'd on to you - jump back, and drop dead. It will return to your pet. Back up as far as you can from the tree and continue to heal pet.

Rinse and repeat

Pull him into the fires that spawn & it's a fairly easy fight, even if he does get you with a Stun/Thorns a couple of times.

I was able to solo this boss as a Blood DK, with only iLevel 419 gear.

The biggest mechanic to watch with this boss is the Soul Harvest, a stacking damage buff. I found that once he was getting 10+ stacks, I was getting hit very hard. To mitigate this effect, you have to run Soulbound Goliath over fires that spawn on the ground. When he is ignited by one of these, he will lose his buff stacks.

Soul Thorns is a very frustrating ability that will stun you. I found that I just had to wait for it to drop, after which you have about 5-10 seconds to heal up and run him into a fire before he stuns you again. Given the small window, using Wraith Walk and Death's Advance is really helpful to get him to a fire patch.

Icebound Fortitude, which will break the stun, should be reserved for cases where his stacks are very high and/or your health is running low, in which case you can break the stun and heal up/kite him into some fire.

Overall, it's a long and annoying fight, but still soloable as a Blood DK.

I wanted to solo him on my second alt DH, which is (only) at ilv 437.

I tried three times as havoc, and while it seemed definately possible to kill him I always ended up unlucky with fires spawning beneath me during the stun.

So on the fourth try I said screw it, switched to vengeance and it was absolute cake.

If you're on lower ilvl make sure to grab soul barrier and it should be an absolute breeze.

I imagine this fight is trivial by now for most classes, but I had trouble soloing this as a 178 outlaw rogue in shadowlands the first time.

Some tips for anyone else struggling: Cloak of shadows doesn't prevent or remove the thorns. Will to survive (human racial) will remove the thorns after they're on you. Also, if you're night fae, he can't cast soul thorns on you when you're in soul shape. If you cast soul shape while he is casting soul thorns, the cast will go off, but the thorns won't appear, and if you're already in soul shape, he won't attempt to cast it at all. Additionally, if you have the Niya's 3rd row unlocked and take Run without tiring, you will also heal for 5% of your max health every 3 seconds while in soul shape. You can also still melee him while in soul shape, just don't press any abilities. You can kite him through the fires to stun him before he casts thorns, but it's difficult to chain pull him for every cast, unless you get really lucky with the lightning strikes.

Basically, you want to pull him and do as much damage before his first soul thorn cast. Then use Will to Survive (if available) to remove the thorns and keep dpsing. On the next cast, use soul shape to avoid the thorns. I stayed in soul shape and kited him next to a fire and kept meleeing him until soul shape was about to end, then pulled him into the fire and started actually attacking. Depending on damage, he might be dead before the next cast, but if not, I would use crimson vial 1 second before soul thorns and let it heal me as much a possible until thorns wore off. Then just kite into fires as needed and kill him. If you aren't human, I recommend bringing a healing potion and using it after thorns wear off.

Attempting to solo in Dragonflight, the Normal version of Waycrest Manor scales to level 60 and this boss is challenging to solo.

Try swapping the dungeon difficulty to Heroic as that version of the dungeon only scales to level 50.

The reduced damage in Heroic allowed me to solo this even after getting stuck in a few soul thorns.

You can't use soulshape anymore.

As mentioned DPS as soon as you can and pull him into the fires. This seems to stun him and so helps the fight. As a enhanced shammy I used wolf shape to get as quick as possible to the fires.

This is such a dog@#$% boss in high keys.
1. Soul thorns hits a random DPS with no warning as to who is getting hit, so you cannot precast a defensive. Well you can but 66% chance it'll just get wasted. Also it kills in 3-4 seconds so you gotta save all your targetted burst damage specifically for thorns since you're down a dps.
2. Fires spawn randomly and often disappear before the tank can get him into one. Sometimes there's just no nearby fires for extended periods of time.
3. Sometimes fire spawns on the boss immediately after a fire or thorns so have fun with that.
4. Fire is like 150% of everyone's health on a 20. If bad RNG gives you a fire on the boss when thorns goes out then they just die. On top of ghost adds who follow and punch you.
5. losing a dps to thorns means you aren't going to be able to get the rest

Basically, too much RNG and no agency over mechanics. Try to save burst damage for the thorns. Bring anything that can break out of stuns.

How do you even start this guy? He's just sitting there inactive and I already killed Heartsbane Triad and Raal. I wish Blizzard wasn't so !@#$ing cryptic, you have to look every other quest up it's so bad.
