Too much spike damage, even if you use your CD properly there is a lot of instant 50% or + hp burst phase that are just annoying to deal with as a healer. It's fine if X Y or Z ability does 50% to a fix player and you know how to take care of it but it's another thing when it does that to the whole group and then there is another mechanic that deals 50% incoming; and another, and another... People tend to grow frustrated at spike damages, rot damages are much more manageable and it's better to have multiple instances of small damages than few instances of gigantic hits.
If healers had to wait til next expansion to see a fix they will need to cut content, otherwise only few will remain.
Healing in M+ has never been this bad as it is this expansion. Very toxic and stressful role due to massively overtuned M+ dungeons.
I much prefer how feeling felt during BFA in Raid *and* Mythic+
Healing should be less yo-yo and more like using the garden hose. You go around watering the plants, but sometimes you need the pressure washer to clean up. Lower hits that come twice as often is more fun to heal than massive bursts every few seconds. I'm there to heal, so let me heal semi-constantly with my basic Heal/Holy Light/Healing Wave rather than toss around my biggest or quickest heals every other second.People getting 1shot or 2shot is not fun.Been a Healer for 16+ years and this expac is the first time I abandoned my Shammy cause healing is just not fun anymore.
They could start by simply balancing the content right. Raiding gets more and more easy with every patch while m+ still remains hard no wonder the gap is getting bigger and bigger between the content.
Probably need another significant buff to health pools, maybe also with an increase in damage taken in raid specifically. The much bigger problem in my eyes though is the fact that 90% of kicks/stops in dungeons punish the healer if missed, despite the fact that the healer can only handle 20% of them. Need a lot more effects that punish DPS for failing to do mechanics rather than punishing the healer every time.
I used to love healing M+ dungeons in bfa and legion a bit in shadowlands (though I swapped to dps during it mostly due to a friend wanting to main heals). Originally I wanted to return to healing and did for a couple weeks but then the likes of ruby life pools before all the nerfs and a couple other issues made me just go back to dps. Healing is just way too stressful now. And with how the damage patterns are this season I don't blame people for dropping healing all together.
As an m+ healer, I honestly dont see my opinion represented very often, which is fair. But I have some healer friends who think this is one of the best season s ever for healing. Healing actually matters, youre not judged by your damage. Granted, I am 3k rio now and my highest key has been a 25. I never succesfully healed anything higher than 23 tyrannical so I cant talk about the high end, but for me, dragonflight, both seasons, have been the most fun I ever had on my healers. Im maining healer and I dont wanna go back to doing damage all the time. I want to heal, and it feels sooo good to succesfully do high tyrannical bosses.I agree that spot healing might need some love / work though.Usually I like Jaks videos but in this one I feel like the part of the community that LOVEs healing this season is severely underrepresented. Myself and some healers I know feel that way. I know its the minority. For some reason, many healers like to do damage 90% of the time. I like challenging healing content where it matters how I synergize my spells. spot healing *is* an issue though yes, but not nearly enough to say "healing sucks". Imo most people who feel stressed by having much to heal simply shouldnt play healer.
M+ healing is horrible. It is simpyl not fun. There is so much spothealing needed that you sometimes don't even know what to heal first. It is incerdibly stressfull.Same problem in raids. There is no problem with raid wide dmg. People mostly snap each others healing away and we nearly never wipe beacuse of not enough heal. The only problem we sometimes have is spothealing. Experiments bomb for example. Most healers are simply not good as spothealers. Tanks are nearly selfsufficent so there is no need more for the classic tank heal and everybody is groupeheal. Because the alternative spotheal talents are soooooo much worse.
They could nerf aoe healing a bit and buff single target a lot, make spot healing relevant again.
Its so funny to me. Season 1 you had these whiners who cry about healers being obsolete because some Prot Paladin 4 dps combs and how healing is basically payphoning. Now healers need to press their buttons and suddenly its too hard and difficult. As if boomies and warlocks switched to healing or something
healers have always stepped on their toes in raids because ilvl compensates for number of players (lfr `healing` as sp ftw xd), and so has been getting 1-shotthese are two separate issues, only made more obvious by the current damage patternand it is not about healers, but that hp is finiteand the old who will move?/int - just like s1's m+ affix
I really like a lot of the spiky damage, as a mistweaver this season I really want to have the huge spikes in damage and I start my ramp several seconds before ^&*! goes down. Extremely rewarding to see my amazing hps output when I get it right. Similarly enjoying the bosses in m+, and even some of the trash packs with big aoes, where I have to set up cooldown rotations and not one ability can be left on cooldown. Very fun. That’s my experience in +20s.About the group taking damage in m+ and this punishing healers… I used to have that idea when I was new to healing in m+, but I’ve since distanced myself from that. If someone goes down then it’s often their fault for not kicking, stunning, using a defensive. The lasers at the start of HOI are a different affair where I struggle to pick up the few spot heals I really need to push through. But failing a kick and taking big damage, that’s not punishing the healer IMO. It’s everyone’s responsibility to stay alive. If people die, it’s often the fault of one of the dps. That said, I’m also looking forward to going back to a more standard mistweaver spec with much more sustained healing and less burst, and I’m hoping we will have sustained damage in raids to match that. My healer buddies can deal with the spikes, if I have enough to do in between.
Healing Mythic+ at this moment in DF doesn't feel fun right now. It's hard enough having loads of spike damage, but on top of that other players not following mechanics and taking avoidable damage its absolutely horrible. I play a Holy Pally and Holy Priest and I have 0 desire to run Mythic content right now.
Tepid take but I don't care if healing becomes "too easy", I want the near instakill damage spikes gone, I want to go back to not having to wait 40m for a healer because they're too nervous to play, I want healers to be able to keep bars filled without too many issues and, at high level play, be able to dip into DPSing a bit if they want toI hate the current state of healing mostly because everyone but the most "hardcore" healers, is gone, I've played the game for a decade and a half and I've never seen so few healers. We went from asking people to swap to DPS in season 1 because we had TOO MANY HEALERS on raid night to barely fielding enough of them each weekThis sucks, I'd rather have season 1 healing backPS: "Then healers would just be the ez casual role for free lootz" yeah and I don't care. There's one healer per 5 people, it's already an underplayed role with a lot of value for just showing up, let them be the "chill casual role" or whatever, what I don't want is to have only a handful of healers available at any given time, more healers now!
Sounds like they need to increase player health again, then?
It seems to be the same in all content really.Too much burst/spike dmg + too strong healing.
