This is SO good! It certainly felt off being able to get random calendar invites from anybody out there, as it's something you would think might be restricted to friends and guilds you know? The scammers insufferably abused this, as did boosters.
Great news - those spam posts have been bugging me for ages. Glad to see Blizzard are doing something about it. Lets just hope they're reasonable about the settings and make sure it doesn't block invites from friends and your guild. Now if they can just do a full rework of the calendar so it's actually useful for raid leaders, that would be great.
I was coming here to see exactly what the end of the article mentions. I was wondering if it was just a blanket block all or if you could filter it. Looks like I'm waiting and finding out!
This should be on by default with an option to turn it off otherwise it will not affect the target audience of those sellers and it will not defeat the purpose of calendar invites, legitimization of tos breaking services through in game notifications that look a lot like the tutorials for new players.
Any change that ruins a sweatshop gold farmer's day is a great change.
Thank goodness. I actually made an angry rambling post on the official forums about this during the 10.1 PTR. It was a really weird insecure way to do calendar invites and I'm glad they fixed it. W for Blizz.
I could cry. This is what I asked for (and I’m sure a lot of people did, I am not claiming this is my doing whatsoever) this is exact thing has been harassing me for god knows how long and reporting did nothing as it was always a burner account or a hacked account
Very welcome as I get a lot of these invites!I do think there should be an update of the entire calendar though. Easier to use and making the small windows/days bigger when you click on them to look at the events.
I did got few random ones which I just reported after seeing whole thing and all players invited. Something's wrong with it, at least you guys working on that to see it stop right there.
Yeah, I'd appreciate some level of control. E.g. Not just Allow invites vs not allow invites. I'd appreciate it if guild, friends, and community members could still do invites. I just don't want those rando adds from players I have no connection to showing up in my calendar at random anymore.
never got a single unwanted calendar invite but maybe because I play on a dead server? Idk - I no life the game and I've never got an unwanted.. actually ANY calendar invite LMaO
I have never, ever gotten a spam invite in my calendar. Still my vote goes to adding more options to control unwanted communication and stop spam! 👍
One of those small QoL things that are long overdue. I used to get bombarded with them after doing world bosses, and I never could figure out why Blizzard hadn't included at the very least a basic "Allow invites from non-guild members" (or similiar) toggle.
I wonder if it will actually work. I still get whispers from players I don't even know, with that chinese writing, about boosting and what not type of spam. Even though I have my socials set to friends/bnet only. So that's still broken imo
Why not make that calendar account wide, and accessible across different Blizzard games and characters? It could still be possible to invite the specific character XYZ, but at least these appointments should be visible when logged in on a different character and/or game, so you can see that a time frame is blocked.
Dragonflight hurls a Shadowflame blast at another win!
Very welcome change. On a large server, 5 of my 7 level 70 characters get this each week . The other two have non-English characters in their names so are slightly harder to spam-contact ;-)
Once upon a time, the "Meeting" and "Other" icon would be featured in the calendar, when you made an event of this type, so that it was easy to spot the invitations in the calendar. I wonder whether Blizzard is ever gonna fix that they're no longer showing.Or fix that people, who are set to moderators of an event, by accident can delete a whole event. It should be exclusively for a host to decide. Finally I wonder whether they're gonna make a convenient featuring of new invitations, so that you don't need to scroll through the calendar to find the very subtle, yellow text on yellow background, to see which one is pending.I feel that considered this is a social game, their calendar and social community feature is alarmingly unprioritized.
its 10.1.5 now and still getting spam calendar invites >.<
