It’s time for us to break out the fireworks, delicious foods, and colorful costumes because the Lunar New Year is here! The Year of the Rabbit seasonal event begins January 17 for Overwatch 2 and brings new skins to collect, festive maps celebrating the holiday, and the return of fan-favorite fun Arcade Brawls. You’ll also earn free rewards when you log in, play, and watch your favorite content creators on Twitch.
Head on over to Lijiang Tower to see fireworks light up the night sky and jump into arcade brawls as a part of our Lunar New Year event including Capture the Flag, Capture the Flag Blitz, and Bounty Hunter.
Capture the Flag is a frantic and fun game mode where you must capture your opponent’s flag while ensuring they don’t do the same.
You can participate in the 2023 season for Competitive Capture the Flag, which has already begun. Coordinate with your team and play for a top position on the leaderboard and earn Competitive Points to unlock golden weapons for your favorite heroes.
Capture the Flag Blitz is a fast-paced version of the Capture the Flag arcade brawl. Flag bases are placed near the center of the map. Expect to make quick decisions and fast plays to ensure your team comes out on top!
Finally, you can play the intense free-for-all brawl, Bounty Hunter, throughout the Year of the Rabbit seasonal event. Whoever can secure a kill on an opponent first will have a bounty placed on them, and while they are the bounty, they earn even more points when they get additional kills. Hunt down the bounty to get it transferred to you, but watch out—you can be seen even through walls and floors if there’s a bounty on your head! Can you survive as the center of attention in this intense game mode?
You can also earn new rewards during the Year of the Rabbit event, including the 2023 Year of the Rabbit Player Icon just for logging in! There are new event challenges, rewarding bonus cosmetics, and Battle Pass XP when you play any of our Lunar New Year brawls. Complete four of the available event challenges to earn the Kkachi Echo Legendary skin!

With some new skins they mean just the one epic… it’s not even a bunny, it’s a cat as said by blizzard themselves. T^T look how they massacred my beloved game
I used to look forward to this as one of my favorite holiday events in the game. Now? I can't even pretend to care. Never in my life would I've thought lootboxes were the better days, but Overwatch 2 is a monument to pure greed.
Its insane how badly they mismanaged this IP
I’m not normally one to get on the hate bad wagon as my previous posts will show. However I can’t help but agree with the sentiment in the comments here. The announcement of OW2 was incredible, but the launch and game since has been horrible and I do not enjoy it.The fun has been taken away with the season passes, the game just doesn’t feel like overwatch anymore.I played in the launch week and I have not logged back in since. I check these posts hoping that I will see something that announces “we see we made a mistake and we are fixing it” but that hasn’t happened yet but I pray that it does.
in ow1 i could grind all skins with just playing. in ow2 you get a few from login and twitch drops thats it. i have no motivation to play ow2. removed ranks , removed rewards....
"So its year of the Bunny guys And well Dva is all about Bunnies so lets give her a Bunny skin right?""MORIA GIVE MORIA A LION SKIN EVEN THOUGH THERE IS NO LION IN THE CHINESE ZODIAC!""Er...... Okay boss..."
I actually bought overwatch pack when OW2 came out or whatchpack whatever, took me about a week to get insanly boored. I used to love OW but now its mostly booring, frustrating and stressful. And lets not talk about the seasonpacks.... Cant believe i say this.. but i miss the lootboxes.
Someone in the dev team said they'd make changes to the battle pass (or was it the challenges?) from season 3 onwards. I hope it extends to events too, as in this state they're just pointless. The only thing of value to an old player who already has the skins they offer for free are event-versions of some of the maps, like Li Yang right now. It's nice. Not enough.Though speaking of Li Yang, I hope to whatever deity will hear my plea that none of the future maps will be for Control, as I hate that mode. Push is fine, payload maps are what I play for. I'd have preferred they kept Assault and removed Control instead, though at least it's still available in Arcade.
You must have infinite amount of money to burn on those skins, but hey who cares? 20+ euro for a skin.. wake up blizzard u killed ow with your greed!
Reading these comments i can agree. I am a veteran ow1 player , got the majority of the skins available.I payed for the last 2 battlepass but it only made me dislike the game. its kind of tight to earn every reward, you have to play almost every day (least 20 days as i counted with 1-2h activity) the bonus xp is almost meaningless, and overall this makes you feel this "i have to play for the rewards you already paid for" which kills the fun and makes it a chore. Exspecially with the challanges named "win " . You cant just "play", you have to win and there are times when you are in a bad luck series and it becames fustrating. But if you leave the game then you get penalty... never understood the devs expectation to "be positive" when they put the nerve inside us with this system they created. Also the battlepass only includes a few good skins, highlights and emotes, while most of the great skins are seperately available for purchase for a really-really high price so i wont buy anything. Maybe if they would give a 50% discount for everything if you own a battle pass, then maybe i would buy from time to time. The events are useless, i remember i was really angry that the olimpus event gave you the mercy skin which i am sure almost every ow1 player already has, a true spitting in the face feeling from the devs. And the challanges... you cant go with your own phase, as i mentioned before it makes me feel like a daily chore and the weekly challanges gives you very little credit to actually farm up any skin. From S3 if they wont change the system fundamentally i am 100% sure i wont buy the battle pass, then it can be a fun game to play until it dies like hots did.
I used to love this game so much, i still remember when i was invited to the beta back in 2015, been playing ever since that is until OW2 came, I never agreed on the changes on the sequel there was no reason for them, the move from 6v6 to 5v5, removing characters identity and making them homogeneous, changing the healing on the game to the point it felt like you are playing WoW arena with literally nothing dying even when you were doing everything right and you were doing the correct dives as a monkey and so on. The change to a F2P model just cash on was even sadder, there were many ways to still make money from the game while delivering a product that people would play for years to come as much people did with OW1.As soon Jeff Kaplan left the team you knew the game was going to die in a horrible slow way. The current game director Aaron Keller is just a place holder that you can clearly see he has no passion for the game, he doesnt interact with the game audience, he rarely and only appear on specific small interviews, he is always in hiding and is just there to bendover and do what the higher ups told them to do instead of directing the game like he was suppose to. Makes me mad and sad what they did to this game, there are so many other things that i didnt even cover that were also at fault. I'm finally detox from this game since several months ago i couldnt handle it anymore the abomination they kept piling with unnecessary changes but i guess i felt the need to let it out one last time. GG
Never touching that again.OW1 was one of my favourite games of all time... so much fun. And i even bought some boxes at certain events. Never done that in any other game. But this? Good god... no way to get anything good just by playing. Challenges are laughable long and the rewards are completly unworthy. This game has entered the mobile games strate auf Diablo:Immortal and Candy Crush for me. Don't touch ever!
Wake me up when OW Classic is a thing so I can spend years collecting skins for free AGAIN.
I don't really understand what is even an event about this? Before the relaunch, the events were great because they released a bunch of cool exclusive skins, so you played more during the event, hoping to get those skins. Or you saved up points to just buy them when the event rolls around. But now, literally what is the point? There is 1 skin that you can buy? Ok? So there is no more reason to play the game now than during non-event.They could have at least made additional objectives to unlock #$%^ like Fall Guys does for example or at the very least some bonus exp.It is absolutely comical how hard they mismanaged this game. This !@#$ was lightning in a bottle, how do you $%^& that up?
