The build was based around the necrolord warlock ability ‘decimating bolt’ which increases the damage of the following 3 incinerates or shadow bolts.
Targetted anima powers:
- 3x Satchel of Soul Dust: Increases decimating bolt’s bonus damage to incinerate by 50%.
- 10x Chaotic Effigy: Breaking an urn increases incinerate damage by 20%.
- 3x Smoking Ash Pile – Decimating bolt increases crit chance and damage by 15%.
- 3x Detonation Torch – Increases incinerate damage by 75%.
Besides the various other anima powers and % bonus damages such as fleeting frenzy potion, I used the Relic of Demonic Synergy legendary for 10% damage increase, the Roaring Blaze talent to increase incinerate damage by 25% after a conflag, and the ashen remains conduit for a 5% incinerate increase. Between the smoking ash power and dark soul I had 75% bonus crit during the attempt so I stacked passive anima powers until I was at 25% baseline to guarantee the crit.
How many attempts did this take?
This was my second attempt. My first attempt was 30 mil. After that run I noted several things that went wrong, such as none of the vendors having a frenzy pot. I tried 3 more times after 175 mil to see if I could beat it, but was unsuccessful. Attempt 3 I had the cilice power (+15% damage and -5% health each floor) but barely had any stam options available to choose or buy, so I failed on floor 16 due to only having 24k health.
Attempt 5: 94,774,000
Attempt 4: 74,456,344
Attempt 3: Run failed, unsuccessfully tried to kill The Tarragrue.
Attempt 2: 175,935,072
Attempt 1: 30,974,744
Did I go necrolord for this video?
No! My lock is just an alt so I decided to pick the worst covenant in case it got buffed. That was before I realised a) that swapping covenants is fairly easy and b) that I rarely/never press shadow bolt as aff in pvp anyways so it ended up being useless. Well, almost useless ^^^^^^
What next!
This number for sure could have been bigger; the animas I was stacking are all quite common. Exponentially more damage could be achieved (all things being equal) if someone fished for rare powers at the very start, especially cilice of denathrius, glutton’s kerchief, or mobius graft. I don’t intend to try again, but no doubt within a day or two there will be a mage posting a 500 mil arcane blast that causes a server crash. :)
