And there goes the "customize your legendary the way you want it"

Comment by MitchMan

I was under the impression that these could be put into any slot. This does destroy the idea of "customize your legendary the way you want it," but we should probably wait until the full system is released on alpha before large judgement. Still better than Legion.

I would also like to point out that in the post it says that effects will be available in the trinket slot, a slot that along with weapons has been confirmed to not have legendary crafting options.

Comment by Sormorne

That actually sucks if there is no lego weapons. As a Dk going to the forge Frostmourne was created umm lets see here ill make a par of boots... Just does not sit well with me

Comment by Darkblade

Wait....a legendary in a weapon slot? Two Hand......i thought it was in all slots except trinkets and weapons.

Comment by Raybeze

i'm extremely concerned with the way SL is shaping up.... they have way to many overlapping systems and complexity theres NO WAY this is going to get balanced properly.

I wan't to play SL really badly because i miss WoW.... but if it launches in the state it looks like it's going to, well i and many others are likely done with WoW for good.... which is really sad :(

it doesn't help that i'm a shadow priest main =/

Comment by Unowhat

This change isn't gonna affect people that much since it is just legendaries. It would be nuts to just put it on anything we want, heck the idea of creating our own legendaries without a long tedious questline or just a random drop chance is wild in it of itself.

I think it really fits the narrative of the expansion to have legendary powers for weapons later, when we go facing the Jailer's raid. Cuz that would be the time we could mirror Arthas with frostmourne. This is just first patch, so it would make a lot of sense for the system to be expanded upon later, especially if the powers will be tied to slots like they are saying.

I agree. But also i dont think it makes much of a diference with what we know now. It really will depend on how we get and how long it takes for us to get the recipes with the effects i guess. The way things go we will end up with enough material for all the effects anyway at some point and we will still be able to target effects which was the big Legion problem with the Legos.

Man... wowhead and other similar site knows well that a lot of people don't understand "alpha" and immediately goes to war after seeing such news. Yet they still posts them to stir the pot of "hurr durr" people. Releasing these kind of "half baked" information led people believe that Alliances were going to have Mag'hars. Good job again.

It's just alpha, for gods sake.

I understand people's indignation with the legendary effects being locked to specific slots. I also think they should make it so you could craft any piece of gear with any effect, but I also understand why Blizzard would do it like this.

There is objectively one slot that has the most stats. Not sure if it's like legs or chest or some other slot, but there's one that has the most stats on it. If any effect could be applied to any slot, people would just check a guide that say "craft it as a chestpiece for the stats GG" and that would be it.

You're still gonna be able to choose which legendary you're gonna want to craft first, instead of waiting for it to randomly drop, which is really cool... though, I can see most people still going to a guide saying which one is the best one and defeating the whole purpose of the system anyway.

Comment by Eridian

Chill out kids, seriously.

yes it's not ideal but they said right there and will probably expand upon it July 8th. Instead of up roaring about things and exploding like a toddler's diaper, try to see what is going on here. There's a story to be told and these items were literally just foreshadowed right there to be expanded upon down the road in later patches. These are going to grow in power somehow and we will have to see via the story.

They are giving us choice to pick what we want yet a lot/ most will do what someone said on the forums. That's how you want to go do it then that is your choice and that's cool man. But for once be cool damnit, they are putting a lot of work into it and it's never going to be exactly how you want.

Comment by Mightylorddk

Removed Azerite gear wasn't tested in alpha rather it came with beta thus blizzard had no time to change the core system even after getting criticized. We're seeing almost every features of SL in the alpha and giving them constructive feedback. Removed(##RESPBREAK##)908##DELIM##Uchur##DELIM##Off-topic parts have been removed

Comment by Ketsutoro

I'll never understand the people who will give Blizzard a pass on stuff like this no matter how many times Blizzard has burned them in the past.

Comment by Solartis29

i hade hope to have gladiator's stance as a legendary effect T_T

Comment by Murzac

It's just alpha, for gods sake.

It's just Alpha, give it some time!

It's just Beta, give it some time!

It's just 9.0, give it some time!

It's just 9.1, give it some time!

Sounds familiar. I wonder how it went last time that happened. Luckily, it seems Blizzard (for the most part) acknowledges the issues with this, it'd just be nice if the rest of the people who don't acknowledge it did.

Frankly, the earlier you can give feedback the better. Even with things like Covenants, which aren't even out in their entirety yet, benefit from early feedback because it helps the devs backtrack on bad decisions or help them prevent making them in the first place.

"It's just Alpha/Beta/Launch" is a bad way to look at it. It's not constructive and, in fact, makes matters worse to have that mentality.

Except that so far Blizzard has actually shown that they do actually listen to feedback and do actually change things that are ridiculous. Sure, there's some hitches with some specs still but on the other hand some other ones have been greatly improved in the past month or two based on feedback that players have provided unlike any other alpha. So excuse us if we're not morbidly pessimistic.

Comment by Makz42

Just like the Corruption system, the legendaries should just have their own interface on your character panel and not be linked to items. This is one of the biggest pain when it comes to corruption that you lock out items and need others/duplicates. We can have a great system with good flexibility, or we can have this type of systems.

Comment by TheStatman

As the article states, ~~the Protection Warrior Two-Hand requirement is a big red flag that~~ this clearly isn't finished and will be changed, likely multiple times, before Beta and launch. (wowhead updated to remove weapons it seems)

There are a couple other things that bring up red flags here as well:

~~1. Not a single current listed power has 'Helm' or 'Head' listed.~~ (wowhead updated to show there are head ones now.)
2. Weapon and Trinkets are listed as slots, which while not ever specifically ruled out (that I can find quickly) seems a bit odd when comments, that I can find, talk about armor specifically, not armor and 'weapons'. As well as there being no base weapon or trinket craft existing in the current Alpha. (wowhead updated to no longer show weapons and trinkets.)
3. 'Back' is listed in some of the tool-tips, yes wowhead says the tool-tips are being worked on, but still Back/Cloak is another item slot that doesn't have a base craft in the Alpha.

This is all interesting to look at, and its cool to see the systems come together as the Alpha goes on, but everyone needs to take a step back and realize that until Blizz officially puts this into the Alpha, or comments on it July 8th, these are all just data-mined Assumptions.

Some need to really take off their Chicken Little costumes, the sky isn't falling just yet, well unless you are in the Alpha version of Icecrown, and even then its just shattered not falling.

Wait until the reveal stream or until this is actually put into the Alpha. After that, if its still not to your liking, then run around screaming bloody murder, but not now.

Comment by seivarden

There is a very simple reason why this makes sense from a game design perspective. You all are being too quick to judge.

If my class/spec has one legendary that stands out, then I will spend the entire year (assuming I can craft one legendary every 3 weeks) crafting that one legendary for all slots, so that whenever I get an upgrade in one slot, I can move the power to a different slot.

That is NOT interesting and fun game design. Of course they should limit it. So people don't go crazy up the wall minmaxing, like they usually do.
