Some will be happy ^^
Awww yisss. As a warlock main for over a decade, I am hyped for this.
yea, its fun but not for PvE.
Great news!, I see a hint here that Warlocks will be a necessity for Shadowlands raid mechanics, and a brand new PVP system! ;D
I feel the problem is more our main cooldown. As demo, i feel weak without it. Having a different cooldown per spec feels neat, but it really screws up how balanced those specs are outside that cooldown, and demo is mixed even more since its more efficient to kill off my imps to empower my tyrant that my tyrant is supposed to prolong. Also, over my 15+ years, my warlock hasnt really gained power. I got a new demon when BC came out and that is pretty much all. I have taken down the legion, I should be summoning in dreadlords (unless we learn something about their history in shadowlands), pitlords, and greater demons as baseline. Heck, there are SO MANY good named demons we should be able to use as a random summon. Prince Malch, Jaraxxus, Manny, even the portal boss in hellfire to help us summon more. All in all, it doesnt need changed, but i dream for more for my warlock. Ill save my judgement for when I see whats coming though.
I dunno man I think "too many buttons" was a legitimate problem, and BFA did a good job remove extraneous garbage.
I am absolutely thrilled to see Affliction return to being more similar to its MoP/WoD iterations, hopefully without the terrible AoE it had. What happened to Ritual of Doom returning? That could have been a fun ability to use pre-pull on a raid boss.
129 days 3 hours and 32 min played as lock in BFA1) Curses are just another addition to the GCD. Locks especially aff locks are capped by the GCD and adding another GCD just makes the class feel worse2) the core issue with locks is the Interrupt or lack of interrupt. the felhunter is not reliable and often will have a delay even with macro's to help between the time you cast it to the time the enemy gets hit by it. the stun (axe toss) from Felguard also has a delay and only works on certain casts and not on others that you would think it would, again not reliable. 3) curse of doom does not need a return. the rp seems cool but its actually not good. again its another GCD addition to the already heavily GCD capped playstyle of aff locks. locks don't need more ramp up time with its casts. making the lock add another dot increasing the set up for DG (darkglare). it takes 16 or 17 casts for an opener for a lock. adding another GCD is just not what the class needs to feel and be more fun. doom can either be incorporated into a dot or remove it. 4) STOP ADDING MORE SPELLS TO THE GCD THAT PLAGUES THE AFF LOCK
as a hunter i am glad Curse of Recklessness is back ;P .
More menial bull@#$% that punishes small raids that may have physical DPS but not a Warlock. Succulent.
Warlock main here. Doom does NOT have a chance to spawn a Doomguard. It has never happened the entire expansion despitie extensive testing by our community.
Aff has the most dots to maintain. UA, SL, Ag, Cor, haunt. and you generate your resources by your agony on multiple targets. While playing aff it feels worse than all every class ive played. the problem with locks and the gcd is that locks take a long time to ramp up damage and by the time u cast ur spells on the targets they often will die before you actually start doing any meaningful damage. the GCD is super frustrating as an aff lock player. making locks cast another spell that also doesn't do damage directly will just make locks look worse on dps meters and thats what matters to players. no one likes playing a dps class and showing up lower on dps meters yet impower other people on ur team for it. the addition of the curses just impowers other players and lowers the dps of the lock due to the addition of the GCD. it sucks i don't like this change. curses should be passivly applied like DH and monks if there are curses.
I'm glad curses are coming back, it was one of the pillars of the class and one of the reason I decided to play warlock. It's still in the description of the class in character creation, that our class curses people, and yet we can't anymore. I love those spells, utility, you can use them or not and it's great.I read a lot of worry about the GCD, affliction warlocks used to have a talent that reduced massively the GCD when casting curses, maybe we could have something similar back to help with that, and the Venthyr convenant ability that allows to spread curses and do damages sound neat (all questions of balancing set aside, ofc).Another way to help with the GCD issue (if we can call it an issue) is to bring back soul swap, I want that ability back SO MUCH for affliction, it was an amazing ability, and if we're indeed going back to affliction being a multidot spec (which I want it to be), it's an amazing, powerful and fun tool.I hope they bring back some form of curses of the elements as well, maybe not necessarily as a curse but as a passive similar to the demon hunter magical damage debuff, to spread those essential raid bonuses to other classes. Or maybe curse of recklessness will be just that but for the physical damage debuff ? We'll see. Also, no more spamming UAs, and that's great.
Kinda bummed that they're not making Soul Swap a baseline ability for Affliction.
For any devs reading this, please considering addressing one of the core issues that warlocks have in m+ and make interrupting a baseline ability independent of the pet by creating a 'curse' with an appropriate name (example curse of unspoken word). We essentially can't play two of our specs in M+ at a challenging level due to A) no interrupt (demo) and B) incredible ramp time (affliction) without either hurting our group composition (one less interrupt) or our damage (swapping to felpuppy as demo).M+ groups currently feel punished for bringing a warlock that isn't destro (and straight up don't do it for anything 15+), which creates a pretty awful experience for both the warlock and the group. Having a non-pet baseline interrupt would open the door to demo being used more so at higher levels.
