Like all dinosaurs, the Mighty Caravan Brutosaur’s days are numbered. I can confirm that when Shadowlands goes live, the shady vendors Talutu and Tricky Nick will cease selling it. Their other offerings – the Lost Platysaur pet and the Palehide Direhorn mount, will remain available for purchase.

We will make sure that the unforgettable Brutosaur mount is added to the lists of possible items that are sold in the Black Market Auction Houses. And of course, this new Achievement “Conspicuous Consumption” is a Feat of Strength, so as such things go, it’s not actually very conspicuous.

The 15th anniversary seems to be bringing ppl back in droves (at least temporarily)! The 380 ilvl requirement for the Worldbreaker mount seems to be driving up the trinket market especially, but also Notorious gear especially weapons. Reset those trinkets, strike while the iron is hot, who knows how long the rush will last, make gold :) Cheers!

This means 8.2 food/feasts and potions will stay for 8.3 also so don't clear out your food stocks just yet as there's also a new warfront with unknown contributions. Just tested the mailbox on the patch 8.3 PTR and they have doubled the number of items show per 60 second refresh to 100, meaning you can collect your mail about twice as fast as live!

They probably wouldn't have its frequency be so high and starting price be so low that people who buy it beforehand will feel gouged. I would expect its final price to be more than 5M for several years, even if the starting bid isn't 5M.

"I farmed it so it is free; therefore whatever I set the price is pure profit" is 100% untrue. If the materials are auctioning higher than the crafted goods, sell the materials instead. Don't sell crafted goods below cost. It never happens in the real world yet it happens all the time in games. Or, if you prefer numbers, if itemX costs 100g in materials if you bought the materials, sell the materials for 100g. Don't sell itemX for 50g because you farmed everything. Sell itemX for 120g or more.

When you sell something in the auction house, the game takes 5% as a cut. If you aren't taking that into account you've done something wrong.

Auctioning something incurs a deposit cost of 5% of the vendor sell price (what the NPC will purchase it from you) per time tier. This is different than the auction house cut. You get this back if the item sells; if not, that is another loss of gold. This means that if the purchase price is 10g and you auction it for 10g you lose 50s if it sells and 1g if it doesn't. Your net in this example is 9g. People get this wrong all the time.

The deposit cost math is: 5% for 12 hours, 10% for 24 hours, and 20% for 48 hours. In Classic it is even worse: 5% for 2 hours, 20% for 8 hours, and 60% for 24 hours.

Converting items is also difficult for most people. If the dust and shards are selling higher than the gear that generates them, you've done something wrong. Same with the fish and oil; inks, pigments, and herbs; ores, bars, and gems, etc, etc.

Comment by neopatraJust pay attention if you use "The road to 5 million" graph that if you start at 1 million, you probably want to end with 6, not 5, as you don't want to have 0 gold after you buy the mount, it can make problems for you future gold making and living generally...Comment by ThoorinI kinda like the idea of AH play, and I made my first serious gold on the AH in WoW... but I feel Blizzard has been undermining professions for a very, very long time. The Legion gave me a glimmer of hope, but now it's gone again. Other than consumables, professions don't make anything even remotely useful, with the exception of the new 400 inscription trinkets... but those are cheap and easy to find, offering low to now margins to aspiring scribes.

I think the very nature of the AH is now working against it. You need to actually spend inordinate amounts of time to acquire and post your stock, and you need to do it over and over again, with no easy tools to control your costs. From what i see, more and more people only post gathered mats. Smaller realms and realm clusters have - once again - dry and empty-ish AHs.

In addition, there's no clear division between run-of-the-mill crafts and leveling, so you get huge waves of level grind dumps, quite often below the actual cost to make, further discouraging from participation. For rare old crafts, useful for leveling or mog, just making and posting them blind is beyond anyone sane.

Blizzard could build more interest in AH if it went further in revamping the AH, eg. by allowing to keep auctions up longer, or allowing to post offers to craft. It could also take off the silly veal of uncertainty by simply making info on auction results on the market as a whole - which auctions actually sold, and which did not. Even for consumables, they could for example roll utility potions, say, invis pots - make them all one item, and let crafters and market decide, which recipe gets used. But no, expac silos have become a sacred tenet, never to be broken.

AH today is choke full of items posted clearly by people who simply don't understand that what they see listed isn't what the item sells for, it's merely asking (posting) price. And that there's no guarantee that if they THINK that BoE from raid is worth 30k, it will actually sell for this much - no matter what Undermine Journal says, because data there is only on posted auctions, not the ones that actually sold.

But what the Blizzard does seems erratic, instead. LIFO they plan to implement incentivizes short times and reposts, which will never draw in the crowds who want AH to be LESS like a full time job, not MORE like it. Not to mention it will certainly lure newcomers into AH fee, cancellation fee, price baiting and other traps that await a newcomer.
