One of the biggest problems that Shadowlands introduced for goblins is the way ilvl of leggos and Crafter's Marks are implemented. Most of our current data sources do not distinguish between ilvls from the same base crafted gear (whether this is due to Crafter's Marks or Leggo ranks.) This creates problems knowing what to craft and how profitable it will be. The loss of the TSM web api only compounds this issue.

I can't fix the TSM API for you but reddit user /u/jmpcallpop created a spreadsheet and related queries that will download data directly from the Blizzard API and provides that context for the ilvl of items listed. I've taken his base and added onto it a fairly complete set of crafting calculations, comparing the AH pricing with the crafting cost for each recipe by ilvl where applicable.

A word on requirements:

It requires Excel, there is no Google spreadsheet version. It works best with Office 365 although I've had some reported success with Excel 2016
If you get errors related to refreshing the "Query - Auction House Data" it is probably an issue with privacy levels. Go into your Data menu -> Get Data -> Query Options -> Current Workbook | Privacy and set it to "Ignore the Privacy Levels..."
Realm is a dropdown but if you enter it yourself it is all lowercase, replace <spaces> with a '-' and remove special characters. E.g., Zul'jin is entered as zuljin

Soon we will have a botter on our show. Now before we all gonna yell and scream, we want to hear the story behind the botter and the community. Zan and I don't agree with what botters do in the game however we do think it's an interesting topic to talk about.

We already have some questions for the botter to ask but it's always great to get some more ideas or suggestions. If you have something you really want to know or ask the botter, what would it be? Give a comment here and maybe we will ask your question and give you a little shout-out on the show.

We are looking for serious good questions and no troll stuff. Hope you guys come with some good ones.

Questions for a botter:

How many accounts do you bot with?
Which economic activities do your bots, and other bots in general, automate? Besides gathering, is crafting being automated? How about buying and selling on the AH?
How do you play the cat and mouse game of trying to stay ahead of Blizzard’s cheat detection?
Do you write your own bots, or pay for them?
Do you engage in RMT? If so, I’d like to hear details about gold laundering in wow: how do you try to move your gold around in ways that avoid blizzard’s notice?
Have you had accounts suspended? How often do they get caught? How much of a loss is it, and how long does it take to recover? Do you split up your resources to different accounts to decentralize your gold reserves?
If you engage in RMT, is this a part time gig for you, or a full time gig? How much do you make in real money?
How much gold do you make? how much ‘overhead’ is invested in time? (Setup, maintenance, etc).
Did the input broadcasting ban have any effect on your botting operation?

These are just some of the ones off the top of my head. Overall I think this is a cool topic. Like everyone else I’m not happy with bots, but ignoring the problem won’t make it go away. I think it will be really interesting to see their perspective, and understand better how it works, since botting will always be a factor in the wow economy.thread over on Reddit.Which Auction House Addon to use?

Hello goblins hope you're doing good.

I've been wondering what are the differences between the 3 options mentioned in title.

So first of all, I'm not a goblin. That means I don't specifically farm gold so I wanted to get advice from the professionals. Usually when I play I do M+, WQs, RBGs, raids etc. In other words your basic wow player. I always end up having stuff like herbs, skins, cloth, BoEs in my bags and I put them in the AH on minimum price. Baaically I use the AH as an improved vendor. I've tried all 3 ways I've mentioned and they all just... work lol. I mean I'm not experienced enough to decide which one is most suited for everyday selling as I don't know what I'm looking for.

I know TSM is used by hardcore goldmakers but it seems a bit overkill for things I do. Auctionator puts everything on minimum price so selling is very fast. In fact TSM is even faster but you have to make lists etc. Default AH now also shows minimum price as you sell so it's not a problem either.

Question is do I miss out by not using TSM or even Auctionator? Cheers!

TSM is faster alone for the mouse on bound scroll and control to quickly post, cancel, and repost. Sure you have to set the operation (what to do) and then set the group (what to auction), but once you do nothing is faster. Plus the stat tracking is fun and if you do eventually really get into it (you will, once you start making lots of gold you can't stop), you will slowly learn more and advance. Stick with the best!I'm not a goblin, however TSM doesn't really need to be setup if you don't want it to do anything fancy. It actually tells you the prices of items at that moment if you have the desktop app setup for your realm (and I think if you don't you can do a search on all items and it'll gather the info, I don't remember as I don't do that) and essentially does all this without much fuss. I have no custom lists or anything, hell I honestly don't even know how to make them and I've been using the addon for 5+ years now.

Auctionator does essentially the same thing as TSM I guess. But TSM has more features iirc.

However, if you just wanna use the Blizz AH then do that. It's great for searching for certain items you don't know the name of (twink gear for 50s) and a multitude of other things. If you just want current prices on items and you're a casual, then get something like TUJ (the undermine journal) to show prices on tooltipsAuctionator is DBM or Bigwigs

Hi gobbos,

After playing WoW for 15 years i hit first time goldcap with just 40k Gold at the beginning. And i want to share my road.

A bit of background story:

While cata i had my highest ingame activity where i also first got contact to competitive gold making. Had my own farmers and were selling gems and flasks. Also spend a lot of time in sniping and flipping older mats. But at the end i paused wow at the end of cata with ~700k. Which was alot for me and my guildies which didnt knew of hardcore goblins at this time.

Unfortunate i lost access to my acc and had to start in mop with a new one. All the years from MoP to SL i didnt tried getting back into gold making.

I started into SL as into any new addon with a char with to herbalism and mining. Farming for future professions while leveling. After my first char hit 60 the snowball started to roll. I installed TSM for checking which of my farmed mats are expensive how to make easy profit without having a gaint budget.

So first conclusion was that there is no way i can affort to push a legendary recept to rang 4. Hence i started with inscription. Mats where cheap no need of expensive orboreal shard. Alchemy was taboo for me cause my friend started it already and we said that we dont mix our markets. While getting a little of profit i started a second profession: Enchantment. Was pretty expensive at this time cause you need eternal crystal to get to max and i did it in january where my chars didnt had access to raids or mythic dungeons so i had to by them from ah and the price where 1,5k - 2k. So i did a decend loss at this moment.

But with cheap access to enhanted mats i could start my third profession. BlackSmithing. That was the beginning of big fat profit. BlackSmithing is for middle class goblins i guess. The crafting costs to hit Rank 4 for a legendary base item are around 500k. After hitting my first Million profit and a friend asked me if he could invest some gold into my business, i started into Leatherworking. Thats a profession for high class goblins with costs to skill rang 4 of 1,2 mio per base item. I did 4 of them and decided after one month of gold making that i dont invest anymore into new professions and ranks. Cause SL was already 3 months released at that time and i knew that the playerbase will going down while the crafter will still be there.

So for one month i was just crafting and selling only items with profit. Sure i had to do some hours of cancel scanning but in the end i didnt spend more that an hour a day on my bankchar. I also dont have a long boi or a second account. Im playing on a medium pop realmpool.

The app is not bloated, not even in the slightest. It pulls data from Blizzard, and it updates the AppHelper addon. That's it, full stop.

"They" being who requires the app? If you mean TSM, see point #1. Blizzard doesn't make an app, and its their data, so what do you expect?
